Moisturizers -Caudalie - C20 moisturiser

Now, my fave moisturizer. Gorgeous scent, matte texture, antioxidants galore, this works well under make-up. Unfortunately, no sunscreen(minus a lippie) but aside from that, perfect.

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Personnel #22
grenadine_00 11/26/2004 7:27:00 PM
A cool mauvey plum, this flatters my Asian LSF#5, Chanel's Shell complexion. A lighter cousin of Shiseido's staying power 6 l/s, I happened upon this in the post-Thanksgiving whirl at Saks. This is a bit more matte than I like but not drying and easily remedied with a bit of gloss. Wears evenly, staying power medium. Alluring.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
grenadine_00 11/5/2004 4:33:00 PM
Inexpensive cleanser that effectively removes make-up(foundation/eyeliner) without drying skin, no film. Does not irritate my sensitive combo skin, despite the AHA/Retin-A regimen. I prefer this in the winter, when I need something more powerful than Cetaphil but not as harsh as my beloved Aveeno cleansing pads/OoO Total effects daily facials - and this definitely works. Recommend.

Lotions/ Creams -Curel - Ultra Healing Daily Moisture Therapy Lotion

Autumn again, with its crisp, cool air. Not to mention dry. Ever loyal to Nivea's Q10 lotion, I happened upon this one weekend, courtesy of my lovely sister. Fragrance-free, this thick lotion takes several minutes to absorb but hours later, my skin is unquestionably softer. Since then, I've purchased my own, as has my mother. Converts, all.

This gorgeous color is a rich brown with burgundy overtones, laced with fine shimmer. I prefer pale colors on my hands, but this is particularly elegant on short nails, and irresistible for fall/winter.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions Facial Peel [DISCONTINUED]
grenadine_00 10/23/2004 6:57:00 PM
I really like this. Reviews are subjective, of course, and prey to confounders(in this case, the heavenly week of sleep, the ongoing regimen of RAM, Bioclear, and sunscreen). Nonetheless, the undeniable glow and even texture of my sensitive/combo skin after two weeks of use(total 6x) are more than enough to ensure at least a few months' devotion. The peel itself arrives in a compact jar, and has the unpalatable texture of pudding. A small thin layer suffices for several minutes, though I've mostly left it on for a half-hour(neglect); it washes off easily. As claimed, no consequent irritation/redness/reactive breakouts. I've obtained similar smoothing results with the aspirin mask and Ellen Lange's retexturizing peel but I feel this is, indeed, much easier on my skin. ~$20 on sale @ CVS for a jar that will surely last a few months.*update 3/06 prefer OoO regenerist peel*

Shampoo -Redken - All Soft Shampoo
grenadine_00 10/17/2004 8:43:00 PM
Mornings are redeemed only by showers. Accordingly, the shampoo/conditioner/body wash selection is of utmost importance. The smell, the texture, the performance. Not to place too histrionic of a point on it, but Redken's All Soft line is a total dream. Ostensibly with avocado oil, it, indeed, well, softens my thick Asian hair. Appealing scent. Recommend, particularly with the conditioner.

Usually, I shy away from dark colors on my hands, but chose this on a whim manicure. Indeed, this shimmery plummy brown appears elegant, particularly on short nails(the alternative would be only garish). Smashing for fall.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 - Sensitive Skin
grenadine_00 9/27/2004 2:50:00 PM
As I become older, I'm increasingly aware of the need for prophylaxis e.g. sunscreen. Never a sun worshipper, I've tried a variety of U.S. sunscreens. Neutrogena, PTR, Shiseido. I like this not only for its sunscreen but for its uncanny ability to blur my skin's imperfections. Perhaps the physical sunblock. Inexpensive, recommend for days more than errands and less than beach.

Lipstick -Ulta - Lipstick

Impressed with this inexpensive product. Staying power so-so, good pigment. I've a cadre of red l/s but couldn't resist Portwine Creme. Darker than Stila's Natalie, this is in the same color family - mauvey berry, warm - and complements my Asian NC20 skin. Nice sheen. Recommend.

Blush -Guerlain - Divinora Bubble Blush - Rose Chamallow 60
grenadine_00 9/1/2004 9:09:00 PM
A cool-toned pale pink, this wears like a dream on my NC20 skin. I also like CD's pink so sweet - though this is similarly packaged(small pot a couple of fingerbreadths across), this capitalizes on the current mousse phenomena and is a lot more pigmented, dries to a velvety finish. Generally a light finger touch will suffice for each cheek. This looks very natural, glowy, brighter than CDs pink so sweet. A mousse version of Nars' Desire or Sue Devitt's Belize. My present favorite. Complements dark hair and eyes, I can see this working very well for day or night, particularly with berry/red l/s. The Guerlain line is impressive, will definitely be checking these out in the future! (The beige rose color is also beautiful but didn't work well with my coloring.) Approx $34 @ Neiman Marcus.

Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Matte Silk Lipstick - all colours
grenadine_00 8/26/2004 12:31:00 AM
Matte silk #10 is a gorgeous cool berry red. I use it as a stain during the daytime(i.e. applied with a finger) and add drama with a lip brush @ night. Complements dark hair/eyes(NC20 Asian). The weightless texture, pigment payoff, and wear are incomparable. Definitely check it out. (A comment on a matte #10 is also under its own review.)

Eye Shadow -Milani - Spice 09
grenadine_00 8/25/2004 12:40:00 AM
A beautiful color in the pan indeed - a warm shimmery copper. Unfortunately for me, its red undertones only highlight the redness in my own (brown) eyes. I used it wet, as a liner and the color payoff was good. In any case, red eyes - unattractive. Overall would recommend Milani e/s though this shade doesn't work for me.

Blush -NARS - Cream Blush in Penny Lane
grenadine_00 8/25/2004 12:32:00 AM
The texture of Nars' creme blush is unbeatable, as is the wear. A warm muted pink, this is subtle enough for daytime. No detectable shimmer. I still prefer CD's Pink so sweet because though it's cool, the pink is brighter on my yellow-based NC20 skin. But this pale brown-based blush fares better with warm colors. A good option in the armamentarium.
