Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Thoroughly Therapeutic Honey & Grapeseed Oil Hand Creme
dragonballz 1/20/2009 5:22:00 PM
After using this product, my hands are left feeling somewhat tacky and greasy. There is also a synthetic fragrance in this which is unnecessary IMO since this brand touts to be "natural." The texture is very thick and it smells very strongly of honey. I feel better about using it than most chemical-laden hand creams but I doubt I'll repurchase.

Lip Treatments -Yes To Carrots - lip butter
dragonballz 1/11/2009 2:17:00 AM
I have the citrus version and I really like this product. It glides on smoothly and doesn't leave a layer of waxiness on top of my lips. It doesn't stay on as my favorite lip product (Lemon Lip Cream by C.O. Bigelow) but the ingredients are more natural which is a plus.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Radiance Lip Shimmer
dragonballz 1/11/2009 2:08:00 AM
I really like that this is 100% natural. With that said, I am not into lanolin which is listed in the ingredients. Also, I feel that this sits on top of my lips and doesn't really moisturize them as well as other products. The shimmer looks nice if you are trying to obtain a beachy, natural look but it can wash some people out. I only use mine at the house so I have no worries. This has mica and titanium dioxide which are natural sunscreens. I dislike the packaging b/c I forget which side is the top as they both look like tops IMO. I probably wouldn't repurchase because the Replenishing Lip Balm with pomegranate oil is the best Burt's Bees lip product for my needs.

Treatments -Merle Norman - Luxiva AHA Intensive Complex
dragonballz 1/11/2009 1:35:00 AM
This product makes my face feel somewhat smoother but I dread the application process. It stings slightly upon application and has an unappealing synthetic citrus fragrance. My face always feels itchy and uncomfortable after I rub it in. I wish I could rate this as a 3.5. I have since found a treatment that makes my skin look and feel smooth minus the excessive chemicals/synthetic fragrance that this one has so I won't be repurchasing.

Eyeliner -Lancome - Artliner - Action
dragonballz 1/10/2009 3:58:00 PM
I am a former user of the discontinued Artliner "Olive" and the almost identical "Starshower" (which was discontinued when I ordered Action but has recently been brought back into the lineup). I looked at the reviews of this and thought maybe it could fill the shoes of my last Artliners. I ordered it and when it came in I was very disappointed. The color is much for metallic looking than my other artliners and the color doesn't do anything at all for my blue eyes because it is much more Kermit the Frog green than olive. Later on I noticed that most of the people giving this excellent reviews had brown eyes. Oh, well. Anyways, I am really glad they brought back Starshower so I'll be ok but it sucks being out of thirty bucks.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - BeFine Firming Toner
dragonballz 1/3/2009 12:57:00 AM
I really like this toner a lot. It contains ginger, willow bark and salicylic acid. The fragrance is non-synthetic, pleasant and it comes in a spray bottle. It doesn't strip my skin, leaving it refreshed and soft. However, I probably will not repurchase because it contains some questionable ingredients and I am trying to buy more natural types of skincare products. Ingredients: Water (Aqua); Butylene Glycol; Polysorbate 20; Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract; Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract; Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel); Benzoic Acid; Ethyl Alcohol; Saccharomyces/Silicone Ferment; Saccharomyces/Magnesium Ferment; Saccharomyces/Copper Ferment; Saccharomyces/Iron Ferment; Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment; Butylene Glycol; Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil; Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice; Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract; Sodium Lactate; Lactic Acid; Glycerin; Serine; Sorbitol; Allantoin; TEA-Lactate; Sodium Benzoate; Urea; Sodium Chloride; Caprylyl Glycol; Hexylene Glycol; Phenoxyethanol; Disodium EDTA; Potassium Hydroxide

Loose Powders -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Truly Translucent Loose Powder
dragonballz 1/2/2009 10:28:00 PM
So far, I am really liking this loose powder that I purchased in the "Neutralizer" shade. It imparts a pretty glow to my skin when applied over my liquid makeup. It never looks chalky and doesn't settle into lines. I don't bother with the puff that comes in the useless packaging but prefer to use a small powder puff (bought in a pack at the drugstore) because it sets my makeup better than using a brush. The main drawback is the fragrance. I dislike chemical-laden, synthetic fragrances and think they are useless. Additionally, this powder doesn't control oil as well as the Luminous Matte pressed powder. Finally, bismuth oxychloride is listed on the ingredient list and this is capable of irritating sensive skin. I will not repurchase because I am interested in trying a yellow powder that does not contain a synthetic fragrance and bismuth.

Eyes -Merle Norman - Eye Shadow
dragonballz 12/31/2008 2:31:00 AM
I have to say, I'm not crazy about these eyeshadows. I am a fan of several MN products but I feel that most of these are overpriced for the quality. A small portion of the shadows in the lasting line are matte (Shell, Mink, etc) but most contain a slight to moderate amount of bulky, chunky shimmer. The fact that a company has different amounts of shimmer in one line of eyeshadow and doesn't label them accordingly is beyond me. With that said, the Luminous shadows are somewhat nicer as their shimmer seems more "finely-milled" and they go on much smoother. "Bare" is one of the few that I could actually see myself buying but that's about it. Overall, I have obtained much better results from other brands which have ranged from low to higher end.

Cleansers -American Beauty - Fabulous Froth gel cleanser
dragonballz 12/31/2008 1:08:00 AM
I have had my eye on this product for quite some time now and decided to take the plunge! I use this in the morning and like the consistency of the gel which is on the thin side. It leaves my face feeling clean. I have used too much at times and my face has gotten very dry from that so its best to use a small or moderate amount. My main reason for not repurchasing is that I am now looking for a cleanser that contains more organic ingredients with a non-synthetic fragrance or fragrance-free.

Mascara -Merle Norman - Luxiva Ultra Thick
dragonballz 12/31/2008 12:43:00 AM
For the record, this is a review for the "new and improved" version of Ultra Thick where the traditional wand has changed into a new plastic, spikey wand (similar to Lash Blast). You really need to use an eye makeup remover or this stuff will leave your lashes spiked with residue after washing your face. The performance is somewhere between average and good but the plastic brush makes clumping a problem sometimes. I wouldn't repurchase due to the fact that it doesn't wash off easily with face cleanser and there are cheaper mascaras I like just as much as this one, if not better.

Hair Styling Tools -Vidal Sassoon - Professional Turbo Dryer
dragonballz 12/21/2008 1:52:00 AM
I have been using this dryer since my beloved Conair Translucence kicked the bucket a couple of months ago. My old dryer was a hard act to follow since it lasted 10 years, dried my hair fast and gave me good hair days. This new Vidal dryer is stiff competition though. It is an all around great dryer that is perfect for someone who finds that ion dryers leave their hair too limp. I also love that it's blue like my old dryer thus making the "parting" transition easier.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Mennen Lady Speed Stick Invisible Dry Soothing with Aloe
dragonballz 12/19/2008 7:14:00 PM
I really like this product because the fragrance is fresh but not overpowering, the aluminum levels are lower than some competitors (ie Sure, etc ) and the performance is pretty good. By the end of the day I am pretty dry and can only smell a minimum amount of odor.

Eye Makeup Remover -Derma E - Eyebright Makeup Remover
dragonballz 12/19/2008 1:46:00 AM
I am thrilled to have found this product since it doesn't feel greasy or irritate the area around my eyes. I also like that the ingredients are much more natural than the competition. I have used other products which removed my eye makeup more quickly/effectively, but I'm sure it was due to the harsher chemicals in them. Overall, I am pleased but am also open to trying other more natural eye makeup removers in the future. I purchased this at the Vitamin Shoppe.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Blush Brush
dragonballz 12/7/2008 12:22:00 AM
PERFECTION! I am in blush brush heaven. It is soo soft, so inexpensive. Applies a nice amount, not too much. Impossible to get a clown-faced, streaky look with this.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear - In The Navy
dragonballz 11/30/2008 2:24:00 AM
I was disappointed in this purchase because the color in the bottle is a striking, shimmering navy. After applying it, my nails looked like a generic eggplant color. I couldn't see much blue in the final result and the color has no kick. Just a typical, "I wanna be emo but not too goth" color.
