Lip Gloss -Lancome - Juicy Tubes Touched By Light
Suzy_h 6/28/2005 5:10:00 PM
This may be appear to be a simple gloss -- it is almost clear with sparkles. But the gloss has a depth and multidimensional aspect that makes it worth the buy. Great over other lip color. Even alone, it seems to add a fullness and a sexy pout. It starts out almost clear, with a hint of gold sheen and high shine, but seems to turn darker on my lips after a few minutes. The glitter is very small and all different colors (red to purple to green) so perfect for evening, but not so overthetop that it cant be used for daytime. The smell (vanilla cake) is to die for.

Fragrances -The Body Shop - Vanilla Line
Suzy_h 11/6/2004 8:28:00 AM
I am a big fan of warm, musky vanilla scents and was so pleased to find this. It is not a simple sweet vanilla but rather is infused with a warm, musky quality. It is sweet but not *too* foody. Smells very similar to BBW's Warm Vanilla Sugar scent. Surprisingly complex - it has bergamot as the top note, floral notes as the heart, and musk as the bottom note. Has hints of sandalwood, amber, and lemon too according to the website. But it is not too spicy or musky. Definately sweet, but not cloying. Warm and happy. Love it layered with a white floral to take the edge off the sweet and to personalize it :) The perfume oil is so strong and lasts and lasts. Great buy for $16 CAD

Conditioner -The Body Shop - Honey moisturizing conditioner [DISCONTINUED]
Suzy_h 11/6/2004 8:19:00 AM
This is a good basic daily conditioner. I fell in love with the shampoo and went back to buy the conditioner. It is just not as good. It does not contain enough oils for my dry, color treated hair so I alternate it with All Soft Heavy Cream or Aveda Brilliance. Smells like warm honey vanilla - love the scent :) A great trick for those of you with super dry hair is to add some Vitamin E or any kind of oil to the conditioner in the palm of your hand and apple to hair from mid to ends.

Shampoo -The Body Shop - Honey Moisturizing Shampoo [DISCONTINUED]
Suzy_h 11/6/2004 8:04:00 AM
Love this thick, cream based shampoo. Moisturizes so well but yet still manages to have great lather. This is TBS's most moisturizing shampoo. I do not know why people are so afraid of oil in their hair and instead go for the horrid waxy shampoos that coat but don't soften. This has oils in it - YAY! I have long, dry, color treated hair and this keeps my hair soft, shiny, perfect. It is so rich I do find I need to use a clear, light shampoo like Aveda Brilliance once or twice a week with it to prevent buildup and flatness. The smell is heaven - not a real honey smell, but rather it smells like TBS's Vanilla Essential Oil (which smells like BBW's Warm Vanilla Sugar to me). The scent is a warm combo of vanilla and musk with a touch of honey. Not cloyingly sweet. The downside to this product is that it does not come with a pump in the large size - the pump they sell for $1 sucks big time. Takes like 10 pumps to get enough at a time :(

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Curious by Britney Spears
Suzy_h 10/19/2004 8:27:00 AM
I do not get musk, floral or vanilla with this. To me, this smells like the fragrance you get in a hair product. It is almost fruity. I detect melon (even though it has none according to the ingredients). It is targeted to a younger crowd (I am 28) but I adore vanilla, white florals, musk so I really thought I would like it after reading the notes in it. Sadly, this is just horrid to me. Bf also did not like it. As with all scents you do not care for, it lasts and lasts on the skin :(

Fragrances -Sephora - Fleur de Sephora- Hibiscus
Suzy_h 9/12/2004 11:15:00 PM
I too am very impressed. I received this free from Sephora using the shopetc code (no longer valid, sorry). This scent is a blend that is hard to describe. It is musky and warm yet soft and alluring, with a slight floral, powder scent. It just smells so lovely. I normally hate powder scents, but this is just done so delicately. Sensual and sexy. Suitable for day or evening. Lasting power is incredible. The bottle is simple yet lovely too. I am going to get more of these.

Candles -Henri Bendel - Home - Firewood
Suzy_h 9/1/2004 1:58:00 AM
I fell in love with this fragrance today but did not purchase because I was not sure I would *stay* in love with it. It does indeed smell like a wood fire, but it also smells like the smoke. I am strangely attracted to this type of scent - I really love Yankee Candle's Autumn lodge which is very similar but has the complexity of pipe and wet rotting fall leaves. This scent is not only the fire, and the wood, but the smoke and the ashy embers smell. I think I will cave and buy it.

Candles -Henri Bendel - Home Vanilla Bean Candle
Suzy_h 9/1/2004 1:55:00 AM
This is such an incredible line - I was always so disappointed with BBW candles. They smelled great, but hardly any scent or throw. The HB candles smell so strong without even burning them. These are high quality candles - they burn clean and evenly. This particular scent smells a lot like Warm Vanilla Sugar - sweet but not cloying, slight powdery note, and warmth from white musk I believe. A lovely, sensual vanilla. My boyfriend loves it :) I don't know why but I find it really sexy but comforting at the same time. Packaging is gorgeous as well but these are pricey - $25 for a large silver topped glass container candle; $12 for a small travel tin. Worth it!

Makeup Brushes -Kevyn Aucoin - Contour Brush
Suzy_h 8/22/2004 11:19:00 PM
I love this brush but I do find I do not use it everyday for its intended purpose (to contour). I do use it everyday as the final blending brush for my eye mu. It is soft but firm (dense bristles but has never irritated my eye). To get a really natural contoured, glowing look for going out I use my skunk brush to add a pop of matte bright pigmented blush to the apples of my cheeks(think Nars Exhibit A, Stila Belle, or Shu Red) then I imagine an "O" around the apple of my cheek. On the lower half of the O in the hollows of my cheeks, I use this contour brush to apply some bronzer very lightly (none or little shimmer like Nars Laguna or EL Bronze Goddess). You can get fancy and apply this along the jawline to look more slender or along the side of the nose to thin it out but when it gets into doing these things it looks better for photos unless you have a super light hand and a very light natural bronzer. Then on the upper part of the O I also use this brush to apply a light dusting of a highlighter (Nars Orgasm, Stila AOS, BB Shimmer Brick, or any shimmery thing) starting from the temple then around the upper part of the apple of your cheek. This is really easy trust me. And you will look just like a movie star :). GREAT brush

Makeup Brushes -Kevyn Aucoin - Super Soft Buff Powder Brush
Suzy_h 8/22/2004 11:07:00 PM
Can't believe I haven't reviewed this sooner. KA are my HG brushes. I like the substantial, weighty handle. You can control the brush beautifully. It is also gorgeous -a work of art with a burgundy handle encased in lucite. Although the head is flat, the bristles are fluffy therefore it is one of the easier brushes to master for newbies. I really only use a flat head for brushes anymore (or skunk for more pigmented blushes). Love the soft feel of the bristles as well. I have washed the brush several times and it never bled dye - I wash with Johnsons Baby Wash with lotion in it. The detergent in use could be the culprit of the former reviewer... I have been using this brush for about 1 year and it is like new :) Love it.

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Lip Gloss - Spun Gold
Suzy_h 8/22/2004 7:54:00 PM
ACK! I am nearing the end of my Spun Gold. Bobbi if you are reading this, PLEASE BRING IT BACK! God I love this color. So sad. Finally a bronze a cool toned girl can wear. I get so many compliments on this gloss. I am a brunette with brown eyes and very pink tones and any bronzes go orange on me but this one is different. Can't even describe it it is so unique - its a bronze, a rose, a sheer, shimmery glossy masterpiece. So sad.

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Lip Gloss
Suzy_h 8/22/2004 7:42:00 PM
So shocked at the low ratings. I love BB glosses. Love the vanilla scent. The tiny easily portable tube. They are the longest lasting glosses I own (and yes, the most sticky and thick too but I like that). I even love the brush - it is small and thus you are able to control the gloss so well! I have never had one splay, but I am careful putting the wand back in.
My current faves (I am a cool toned, fair skinned brunette with brown eyes) are: Tangerine (sheer coral no shimmer); Buff (gorgeous pinky brown with no orange tone no shimmer); Rose Sugar (rose/mauve shimmer with a touch of brown); pink sugar (light baby frosted pink); spun gold (FINALLY! A bronze a cool tone can wear... this is gorgeous!!!)

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Buff gloss
Suzy_h 8/22/2004 7:41:00 PM
Buff is a lovely pinky brown nude without any of that yucky warm orangy tone that us cool toned girls avoid :) Looks great on me (fair skin with pink undertones/brunette/cool tone). No shimmer, just high shine, it almost looks creamy on. Grown up and classy. Just gorgeous. I love BB glosses. Love the vanilla scent. The tiny easily portable tube. They are the longest lasting glosses I own (and yes, the most sticky and thick too but I like that). I even love the brush - it is small and thus you are able to control the gloss so well! Lip Liners -Christian Dior - Chocolate #588
Suzy_h 8/22/2004 7:29:00 PM
This was my HG lipliner for years and I Recently repurchased and have fallen in love all over again. It goes with just about anything as it has elements of brown, pink, and dark red in it. This may be too dark a "nude" for many but I have super fair skin and rather deep pink lips so can wear this with almost any of my glosses and it still looks natural. It goes on a dark, pinky brown on me. Dior lipliners are the softest, smoothest, most lasting you will find. Better than Chanel even! No drag or crumbling. The other end has a brush and a sharpener is included for $22. Gorgeous color, lovely quality. Magic :)

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Tangerine
Suzy_h 8/17/2004 2:46:00 PM
I love this color! I am a super cool toned brunette and it is so rare when I can wear a peachy orange color. What saves this from the warm realm is the touch of pink it has. It just looks so fresh and so pretty. It is sheer, high shine, super sticky (so it lasts and lasts). The perfect coral I plan to wear this well into fall :) No shimmer.
