Pressed Powders -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Serum Absolute Advanced Age Reversing Powder
rated 3 of 5
Miaoudeminou 6/24/2012 5:33:00 PM

I really like the L'Oreal Infallible powder (red compact). It goes on smooth & doesn't cake. Sadly the lightest color is too dark (but perfect for my summer shade) and it almost looks like they're discontinuing it (it's been marked down at many stores in my area). Thinking about that, I tried this powder as a substitute. Thinking it's L'Oreal and I tend to usually be at least okay with their foundations. This isn't similar at all. Try layering/building this powder and it gets noticeable & cakey (unlike the Infallible). I do have to say it'd be a cool finishing powder though 'cause it has a shimmer to it (not glitter; just a healthy glow) and that's nice. I wish more powders had that "healthy glow" shimmer to them instead of being completely matte & dull looking. TL;DR: Has healthy glow to it but gets cakey easily

Crème -L'Oreal - True Match Roller
rated 3 of 5
Miaoudeminou 6/16/2012 5:26:00 PM

This is decent. It looks fantastic when I first apply it. I am pretty acne prone and I haven't seen a single pimple or clogged pore from this. That's a lot to be said about a creme foundation (most clog me horribly and I end up with cystic acne). I apply this before work around 2pm and I don't get home till midnight. By the time I get home this looks like it's gone. I even tried setting it with silica powder but nope. It's just gone. Yet when I go to remove my make-up color still shows up on the make-up towelette. So there is some left... it just doesn't look like it though. I look like a hot mess. If this could stay looking nice all day, like it does after initial application, then I'd say this is HG. Also I was sweating a lot at work and it'd come off. There was a youtube review about it saying it was waterproof and I wouldn't deem this as waterproof.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Airbrushing Pressed Powder SPF 30
rated 3 of 5
Miaoudeminou 6/12/2012 1:31:00 AM

I'm pretty upset about this product. It is completely HG except the fact that the color is too dark. I am NC15 in winter and about NC17 (not quite NC20) in the summer. This foundation, even in ""translucent"", fits those who are NC20 or darker. Not only that but I have yellow undertones and PF continues to have this odd peach/red undertone to it. If they changed those two things I'd buy this powder forever. I apply it with a flat top brush and only need to swipe on my face twice. Then I'm flawless. It truly does live up to the "airbrush" name. My large orange-rind pores were almost covered by this powder. That's how much I love this. I'm just so upset that the color doesn't match me. If I can find an alternative I will buy it forever.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Daily Protection Moisturizing Body Lotion SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
Miaoudeminou 6/7/2012 12:52:00 PM

I haven't fully tested this out yet. I'm going to use it on my face. I hate paying $10+ for a face lotion that just doesn't work. Also this was right next to the face version (Daily Protection SPF 50) and that bottle was tiny (I think it was 3.5-4oz) for almost $7. This is a similar product but with 13.5oz. If I can get away with this then I'm sold! As for the "fragrance free" part yes it is but it does smell. "Fragrance free" typically means it's not going to smell like your grandmother or fruity. That's it. They don't remove all smells from the lotion. Now if this is an issue for you please for the love of everything twist off the cap (don't open the pump) and SMELL your lotion. It's only your fault after that that you decided to buy a "smelly" lotion. As for the lotion itself, it's good. I've had that greasy sunscreen feeling and this isn't that. On my hands it is silky, not sticky, not greasy, and I like it so far. I will update this review after I use it on my face since I'm very acne prone.

Pressed Powders -Revlon - Age Defying with DNA Advantage Powder
rated 3 of 5
Miaoudeminou 6/2/2012 2:36:00 PM

I am paler than NC15 in the winter but in the summer I typically get about NC20 (sometimes 25 if I get too much sun). So right now after I got some sun I'm a tiny bit paler than NC20. I bought this powder in Light Medium and so it's a hair darker than what I'm at right now (aka might fit NC20 just fine). But for winter I'd have to pick up Light. There's a huge difference between Light Medium and Light though and while I'm happy it works for me, others might be disappointed. I wish there was a better color selection on this. The packaging itself is decent (gave it a 4) but I prefer compacts vs this bulky thing but I'll get over it. Now I'm actually going to rate the powder compared to others. Comparing it to Covergirl Fresh complexion powder & L'Oreal Infallible powder this is on par with those. I like the CG one for coverage but it was too pink. I liked the L'Oreal but there wasn't a lighter color. Revlon does and so I'll be able to use it in the winter. I'd say this powder runs more on the neutral-yellow side. If you are pink then go pick up the CG version and you'll love it! Meanwhile I love the Revlon powder 'cause it's what I've wanted in a powder. This doesn't transfer as much, has lighter coverage (I want to say around a light-medium), and looks nice through out the day. I don't have to touch up my face, it barely has that "powder" look to it, and it looks pretty natural. The barely-there freckles on my nose stand out while it covers my large orange-rind pores and makes me look flawless. I am young to be using something called "age defying" but this powder doesn't cake unless you apply too much. Besides the previously mentioned powders (CG & L'Oreal) along with this one, most powders cake like crazy on me. They slide off my nose (Revlon's does not) and make me look older. This barely slid into fine lines but does not emphasize them. I'd say this is a great powder for anyone of any age as long as you don't have a heavy hand or use the "brush" that comes with it (which is a POS). I use my flat top ELF brush and it applies just enough. My face feels silky from this and it'll forever be a good staple to have for a foundation. The only thing that's sad to me is that it transfers. If it didn't this product would extremely close to being HG for me (I'm very picky). 6/13/12 update: Since trying Physicians Formula airbrushing foundation, I'm not sure that any powder foundation can compare. The finish was amazing but color was off. Ugh I just want to find a HG. 6/24/12 update: I stopped using this. It didn't give me the coverage I was looking for and tends to cake.

Loose Powders -Coastal Scents - Silica Spheres Powder
rated 5 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/28/2012 1:05:00 PM

I'm going to start by saying that I bought a container off Ebay. It was cheap and I was mislead to believe it was more than what I got. That's okay 'cause now I'm going through TKB Trading (1oz is $6.45 shipped). But I do have to say that this review is based off of the Ebay one I bought. With that being said, this is a fantastic product. I apply a primer, my TM, apply the rest of my make-up (letting the TM "set"), and then apply the silica powder. Yesterday (5/27/12) the weather reached 90(F) here. I had make-up on, I was sweating like crazy and the make-up stayed. All day. I looked as good as when I started. My face just looked glowy instead of matte though. So yes and yes again will I buy this stuff. At work I didn't think it was working since my concealer doesn't tend to look so fresh at the end of the day but apparently this does work very well.

Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
rated 3 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/27/2012 12:45:00 PM

I gave this a 3 with a "no" for re-buying. It's a great mascara for length & volume but that's not what I need. If it defined my lashes, made them thicker, and looked multiplied on top of that then this would be HG for me. For now it's just a mascara I use on top of my normal mascara when I want an oomph and to get glammed up. I don't use it except in special occasions. So it'll sit in my drawer forever until it's needed again. For some who have thick & many lashes, this will be HG for you.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadow Quad - Skinlights
rated 1 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/26/2012 3:26:00 AM

So Revlon re-vamped their cream shadows. The original ones weren't bad except for the fact that they creased (I was a huge fan of them as a teen). Now fast forward about 5-10yrs & Revlon's now producing this junk instead. The "compact" it comes in is sleek. You can see the colors through the "windows"...oh wait. That is the product sitting in there. You get what is about maybe 1/2 of what they used to give you. Never mind that the colors look fantastic in the "compact" yet when applied they don't show up. At all. Even over UDPP. If I could give this a 0 I would. It's expensive for the lack of product & crappy product color pay off. Don't even think about buying this unless you can get your hands on the older version in the big clunky "compact".

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Mega Plush
rated 4 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/24/2012 12:50:00 PM

I think people doing reviews on mascara need to write what they look for in their mascara. 'Cause not everyone wants the same thing thus probably some of the positive vs negative reviews on this. I have long lashes. I don't need length. I just want a little bit of a curl, some volume but most importantly; I'd like a mascara that offers thickness & makes my lashes look multiplied. With that being said, I really like this mascara. It's not HG but it's still good. I wipe off the mascara wand on the inside of the tube while pulling it out. Then I wipe it on the inside of the opening of the tube some more. It covers my lashes, makes them look thicker & a tiny bit fuller. What I like the most is that I can wear anything with this and it does not budge (fyi I did get waterproof). I sweat like crazy & move around a ton at work. So I love that this doesn't budge (some leave a little smudge under the outer corner of my eyes). I really wouldn't say this offers too much curl or volume (I didn't notice much). It does hold a curl though.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
rated 3 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/23/2012 2:23:00 PM

I tried this foundation on one day and I look great. It is a little bit lighter than the regular Colorstay liquid foundation. So Buff made me look a little bit on the pale side. I have to say I love the texture with this and it feels so nice on my skin. I hated the pot it came in as there's a little "top" on the inside and it just causes such a big mess for me. I have tried using my fingers and a flat top brush. Both still caused the product to cake on me. My skin does this weird thing where most, not all, drugstore foundations cake like crazy. I try applying very little but then I don't get the medium coverage I like. So I'd say this is pretty light to light-medium coverage and that you have to have pretty nice skin to wear it just alone. It did wear all day and stay flawless. My oily spots did peek through mid day and I did have to touch up. It accentuated dry areas too so keep that in mind. I don't hate this but I like something with more coverage & that isn't as cakey. Overall I gave it a 3 'cause it looks like others like it and I'm sure they'll probably like it more than me (I am very picky with foundations). Then I gave the price a 2 'cause it was $11 at my local Target (could not find it anywhere else) and that's about average for drugstore foundation here. As for packaging I did give it a 3. I really wish they had put this in a pump or squeeze tube (think CoverGirl NatureLuxe foundation). That would be better and waste less product. I don't think Revlon was really thinking with that. I did leave the re-buy on this a "yes" 'cause like I've said before, others might like this. I'm just really picky.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Degree Clinical Protection
rated 4 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/20/2012 2:50:00 PM

To start I have this in "Degree Clinical Protection Motion Sense" in the scent Active Clean. And I really like this product. I get the 1.7oz size and it's about $8 at Walmart. I truly cannot find a cheaper deodorant that'll work. I get really wet at work from moving around and this keeps my the driest (slightly damp). Where as other deodorants & antiperspirants do not do this. I have tried the spray stuff, which is a mess, and several stick/gel ones. This is like a cross between stick & gel. It's a white cream and does not burn when applied to freshly shaven armpits. I wish the price were lower (I gave it a 3 for price) since you get so little. The next size up is $11 & change for 2.7oz (so not much better). I gave the packaging a 4 because when I twist it up the product comes out but it only comes out on one side. It's weird but not too big of an issue. So yes I'd re-buy this since it's the only thing that some-what works (if something could keep me 100% dry it'd be HG). This is a good second though.

Bronzers -Wet 'n' Wild - Reserve Your Cabana
rated 4 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/20/2012 2:38:00 PM

Wow. I can't believe I haven't written a review on this yet! I love this stuff! I honestly wish it'd come in a creme/mousse version for summer. I love it that much. The powder version is still pretty awesome though. I wear it on my cheek bones, nose & right above my lips (cupid's bow). With my cheeks I wear it under the Wet N Wild blush in Mellow Wine. This gives a very glowy and natural look to the blush. Unfortunately this doesn't last all day and by about mid day my blush is gone and so is the glow. So it starts out fantastic and ends blah. So cream or cream stick version (NYC had a stick that they discontinued that was awesome) would be fantastic of WNW. My over all rating of this is a 4 'cause it starts out awesome and I do love it. But not a 5 'cause it doesn't last.

Bronzers -Hard Candy - Glow Away - Bronzer & Highlighter Duo
rated 1 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/20/2012 2:01:00 PM

I bought this along with the blush version. Each side is only an inch worth of product. For $6/piece that's kinda lousy. Then with the blush there was no color pay off what.so.ever. With the Bronzer & highlighter it shows up on the back of my hand. I tried getting it to do the same on my face but failed. I don't get what HC was thinking. These are greasy feeling, not pigmented and the lack of product is just the icing on the hate cake. I don't even see how a person could get this to work for them. These are worse than the CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast (yes I actually got some color to show up on my lids). I got maybe a "glow" from the highlighter on my cheeks and a slightly bronze color to show up but it's gone within 2hrs (I went to a movie & came out as if I didn't even apply product). I even tried applying a powder blush on top of this and both were gone. This is going back to the store with the blush. Who thought this was a good idea!? I get better color payoff & lasting product with the NYC blush sticks!

Crème -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55 Helioplex
rated 3 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/20/2012 1:49:00 PM

I'm going to write about my skin first. Then I'll write about the product. I've also gone through this review several times to attempt to keep it short (yes this is the shorter version). My skin is a pale olive (aka yellow undertone NC15 in summer; about two shades lighter than NC15 in winter). It is combination. My chin & above my lips are dry and get flaky sometimes. Meanwhile my forehead, cheeks, and nose get really oily (fyi foundation slides off my nose). The rest is normal. My flaws include the occasional pimples (2-3), under eye circles, orange-rind pores on my cheeks with some redness, redness around the corner of my lips & around nose, and I have 3 veins to the right of my lips. That's what I need to cover up (sounds like a lot, but I know people who have a lot more; I need about medium coverage). This is okay for coverage. I'd say more like a light to light-medium. I can feel this on my skin (slightly heavier than a TM or BB cream-which I normally wear). It does not cover my flaws. I still see everything I mentioned above. Redness has to be covered by concealer, under eye circles covered by concealer..etc. My large pores aren't covered but this didn't make them more obvious.I usually hate cream foundations but this one isn't bad. The usual cream foundation settles into fine lines, cakes, shows off my dry areas, and makes me look about 35-40yrs old (I'm only 25). So with that being said this doesn't do that. Yes it kinda settles into fine lines yet it doesn't make them look obvious (kinda contradicting I know). It does cling to dry areas so moisturize before hand (doesn't make them more obvious though but I can tell; I'm sure if you looked at me you'd have no idea). As for lasting power and oil control, I do not know. I haven't worn this to work to give it a full test. Honestly I personally do not like this enough to wear it every day. As a cream foundation it is one of the best I've found though. Personally I like more coverage to my foundations and for it to not cling to my dry areas (the BB cream I use doesn't do this). So I'll be returning this to the store. I did leave a "yes" for re-buying and a 3 for the Overall Rating because I could see someone loving this.

Blush -Hard Candy - Hide & Glow Cheek Duo Tint
rated 2 of 5
Miaoudeminou 5/19/2012 11:06:00 PM

I bought one of these Cheek Duos along with a highlighter & bronzer one. All 4 colors do not seem to show. I mean I can get the most color with the highlighter & bronzer but it doesn't last (applied it over my make-up & went to a movie; it was not there after the movie). Also there's the fact that you pay $6/piece and you get maybe an inch of product on each side. WTF is up with that!? Kind of a rip off huh? I am going to give this more time but for now I'm saving my receipt & hoping to get my $12 for both if I'm still not impressed.
