Gels/Soaps -Neutrogena - Rainbath Gentle Exfoliating Creamy OIl wash, Energizing Citrus

I am on the fence with this exfoliating wash as far as repurchasing. I actually wanted it for my face. I have dry skin and am in bad need of a strong exfoliant. This is for the body. The scrubbing granules are not plentiful enough to do the job for the body. I would stick to using my brown sugar scrub for that. For the face there is just enough to feel a difference BUT it does leave my skin dry and tight feeling afterwards which is the deal breaker here. The product bottle does state that it will not dry out your skin and all that mumbo jumbo but it surely did dry out my face. So much for that little experiment. Its an ok body wash... I wouldnt use it on my face again and its not exfoliant enough for the body. The scent is pleasant. Not strong. Just a so/so body wash.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Luxurious Color Diamond Lust - Night Sky #120
rated 1 of 5

temptalia did a not so great review on the blue shade of this line of shadow. this one is no different. bronze, blue & green glitter chunks with smaller silver micro glitter in a charcoal colored shadow. the colorful glitter is messy and gets everywhere even over udpp. the silver micro glitter does manage to stay put i guess because its more plentiful and infused into the shadow better. revlon consistently makes such disappointing eye makeup products.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Ultra Liner Waterproof
rated 1 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/12/2012 7:41:00 PM

The only thing I liked about this liner is the small tapered brush that let me have decent control over the watery liquid liner. The liquid liner itself went on unevenly. When I finally got it even after a couple of coats it began flaking off at the inner corner area of my eyes as soon as it dried. THEN it started peeling off . This is a terrible formula. $6.09 at the grocery store for this. I returned it immediately for their full n soft wp mascara which was 20 cents less.

Foundations -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind- radiant firming makeup
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/11/2012 10:07:00 PM

NC25 here.....I have Sandy Beige which is just ever so slightly darker than I am but it actually works perfectly just for my forehead area that catches a little more of a tan. (which i am not really tan but its a shade darker than the rest of my face so this works) the coverage is medium to full and is buildable. the price is right. the formula is perfect for my dry skin. i prefer this and their 24 hour over my lancome teint miracle and chanel perfection lumiere! no scent which is great. this is an all around great foundation!

Toners -Unlisted Brand - CVS Refreshing Toner (L'OREAL hydrafresh toner knock off)
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/10/2012 10:44:00 PM

I ran out of my regular hydrafresh toner from loreal some time ago and am trying some different toners right now just because. i did like loreals toner enough to buy again one day but i spotted this in cvs and saw how the price was cheaper than loreal. $5. so i had to give it a try. the red dye in it is more than loreals because it leaves my cotton balls much more pink than loreals. i wish they would leave that silly dye out. totally unnecessary. it also had a bit more burn to my skin than the original. it does its job fine. i think i will get it again but just wish they would remove the dye.

Scrubs -Aveeno - positively ageless resurfacing scrub with vitamin c

UPDATE 6/14/12 - this had become my HG cleanser which is great because i have never had an hg cleaner before. my skin has had a dry flaky problem for a long time & i spent a lot of money of peels & HE moisturizers trying to fix it. All I needed was this! Even though the scrubbing granules are not as much as I would like it certainly does its job. I also use this in conjunction with the CVS knockoff of Loreal Revitalift cream cleanser. I am so happy with how my skin is these days. I just love the scent of this as well. Perfect for my dry sensitive skin!!-------------------------------------------------------------- claims: "exfoliates to smooth for a more even tone" I got this scrub after trying a dab of it in CVS...the initial squeeze felt like it had quite a bit of the exfoliating granules but it was deceiving because when I used it the next couple of times the granules are much less than expected. Not sparse....just less. I used it with my olay cleansing brush and without. What I liked was that my skin didnt feel really tight and dry after using it. I have dry skin naturally so this was nice. I need more exfoliating action in my scrub so to me this is just a cleanser and not as much a scrub. Im going to break down and probably get MK microdermabrasion or Philosophy microdelivery. I do this like this as a basic cleanser though. I might get it again if I find a coupon. It was around $10 but the cleanser I am liking most is CVS knockoff of L'Oreal Revitalift. Cheaper and hydrating( $5). Does a better job of cleaning my dry skin. So *MAYBE I will get this again. On the fence.

Sweet unique musky scent that I wasnt crazy about at first. But after some time I grew to really really like it. I usually go for the tropical line with Bali, Fiji etc...so this was a nice change. Lingers on my skin after a few hours which is nice.

Lipstick -Lancome - Rouge in Love
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/9/2012 11:25:00 AM

I got this in 185 Rouge Valentine. A bright warm red. Leaves a pretty stain, doesnt get on my teeth....a gorgeous wearable red for NC25 (TM Ivoire 4N) I fell for it soon as I sampled it at the counter and had to have it. Very classy tube. It was pretty much the only shade out of the bunch that grabbed me. The rose scent isnt too strong unlike their color fever gloss....very strong. I cant bear to wear that for long but this lipstick I can. So this is a perfect red lipstick for me. Makes me feel like a lady. It isnt a unique red though and for the price I am sure I can find a cheaper alternative. I do like it enough to repurchase it because of the packaging. I have several cheapie WnW lipsticks and the tubes they come in fall apart easily without much use or movement so sturdy nice packaging is a must for me if its going with me in my purse.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Color Fever - Paradise Peach
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/4/2012 12:50:00 PM

NC25------This particular LE summer shade came in my mothers day in bloom/ beige blossom set. I love the look of the crystal clear tube. Classy looking. The peachy shimmer shade looks so pretty in it. The weird hoof applicator does its job nicely. The color itself goes on a soft somewhat opaque light peach at first but when I rub my lips together it disappears. So its barely detectable in color on my NC25 skin tone. It just leaves a shiny shimmer with a slight hint of color. Its not a sticky tacky gloss but feels hydrating. The scent is what gets me. Its an obvious rose scent that gives me a headache. I cant get use to it. The gloss doesnt wear very long but what gloss does. I wouldnt purchase it again b/c I feel there are other glosses out there comparable for a better price. If I were to choose from their line of glosses I enjoyed the JTs much much more.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Eyeshadow Brush
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/3/2012 9:55:00 PM

I have probably purchased at least 20 of these to have on my dresser and around and to give out as gifts. GREAT basic brushes that are a must. They are made very well considering their price. I havent had much shedding with mine and if they did shed then I didnt notice unlike my $45 MAC 130 brush that sheds a lot each and every time I use it. Im not saying ALL of elfs brushes are like this because some are not very nice but there are several gems in the mix such as this. I highly recommend to grab a bunch of these up!

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Doll Lashes
rated 1 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 4/27/2012 8:27:00 PM

This mascara has been a total and utter disappointment especially for its price. I have regular stick straight not very thick eyelashes. They can look thick and lush (and keep a curl)when I use my HG maybelling falsies wp. Hypnose doll lashes just defines my somewhat skimpy lashes. So they just look like defined skimpy lashes. That is it and that is ALL. The formula immediately uncurls my lashes which all non waterproof formulas always do on me. This mascara is as "fabulous" as maybelline great lash. The brush is a joke too. I have to switch hands in order to try to use it correctly. I shouldnt have to do that. LAME, BORING, DISAPPOINTING EXPENSIVE MASCARA. NEVER AGAIN WILL I WASTE MY MONEY. But if you ALREADY have naturally thick lush curly lashes then by all means give this a shot. (but if I were those lucky ladies I would save my money and go for drugstore brands which outperform this sorry excuse of a mascara any day. )

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 4/25/2012 2:23:00 PM

NC25 = Iviore 4 (N) on myself. It matches the exact pale side of my skin in natural daylight. Not my forehead where it is ever so slightly darker. I have dry skin and this formula accentuates the annoying little flakes that keep cropping up on my nose. I just personally need to exfoliate very well like every other day. :( That said if i just can get my dry skin flakies under control this has potential to be HG for be a nice foundation for my paler days. It has a touch of spf but not enough to spend a day outside.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
rated 2 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 4/25/2012 12:16:00 PM

I had been using these scrubs all through my 20s off and on. At 28 I had a facial at a spa where the lady was tsking me for using it telling me how it actually leaves micro tears and scarring on my skin blah blah blah. I didnt believe her and kept using my scrub because I love the smell and the feel of my skin afterwards. Smooth like a baby bottom. Then when I turned around 32 I noticed small pits on my cheeks and immediately thought of this scrub and what she said. Ive stopped using it on my face but I have two large tubs so i think it wont do any harm to use on my knees and elbows until it runs out. Also my skin changed when I turned 30. It tends to turn dry if I dont keep on top of it. So I wont be using this again. I need to find a new exfolating scrub. I use to use MK microdermabrasion but its pricey for not very much product but I need it so I will get that now until I find something similar for a better price.

Lipstick -American Beauty - Fabulous Feel Liquid Lipcolor
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 4/19/2012 10:48:00 PM

I tried this out for the first time in Amaretto. It came in a set with a lipliner & lipstick for half off retail $25. So for the price of $12.50 I essentially got a free lipliner and lipstick. Out of the 3 products I liked this one the best. I've always been a fan of EL's fig scent of their lip products so it was a nice surprise to see that these products are the same. (The lipstick too) This color doesnt look nice in the tube but on my NC25 skintone & lips it looks like a cool toned nude. It does feel luxurious, smooth, screamy and moisturizing. I loved it so much i went looking for more colors today but I think Kohls might be phasing out this line? I didnt find much left. :( That would suck because I am just discovering it. :( I managed to find a sad lonely color in Plum Passion for 70% off which is fine by me! Same quality as Amaretto and it looks great on me. These would be my HG lipgosses FINALLY but if they are getting rid of them what am I to do??? :( UPDATE: I picked up another Amaretto & there were 2 shades on clearance I wanted to try..cinnamon stick & copper penny. Copper Penny looked nice but CS was much too dark. ALSO: I tried a different Kohls and found the AB display with plenty of their products in stock. I guess if varies from store to store what they have.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Infallible 8 HR Le Gloss-Red Fatale
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 4/18/2012 11:06:00 PM

NC25 here. I agree this is definitely a pure red with warm undertones. Tacky feel, hard to control this lipcolor. It is super pigmented so in order for me to actually wear it and not let it get all over my teeth (this happens easily with this formula) I dab on lip balm then apply this sparingly in layers. I dont wear it to full blown glossy capacity or this gloss just gets out of control. Its waaaay more lipcolor than I can handle and the bleedy formula doesnt help. The scent is flowery vanilla ish but more on the flowery side which makes me feel slightly nauseous. But just slightly. I *think I can get past it so long as I dont just gloss it on straight from the tube like I did before. The doe foot is strange and large but it does help get the gloss on with more precision which this stuff NEEDS. I do like it but I dont love it. Vampy warm red for pin up looks but I personally cant wear it that way. ill just dab it on for a more sheer look thank you very much. (BTW ---- wearing it with lipbalm makes it feel little less tacky but of course it doesnt stay on as long as when I apply it to my bare lips.)
