Eye Makeup Remover -Orlane - Absolute Skin Recovery Cleansing Serum Eyes
doree_001 4/24/2009 7:39:00 AM
Eye make-up remover which claims to reduce signs of fatigue and works like some kind of a "treat" for eyes, too. That is why the name is "serum" not only "cleanser". Contains White Tea, Ginkgo Biloba, Callendula and Rose extracts to stimulate mikrocirculation, prevent swelling, to soothe and soften the eye contour. It also claims to help with signs of puffiness and dark circles. Well, I don't have a problem with puffiness or dark circles, I just want to have a gentle eye make-up remover, because my eyes are sensitive sometimes -- especially in spring (pollen allergy).... You should massage a small amount around the eyes and than remove eye make-up with a wet cotton pad. It is in a 100 ml (3.3 fl.oz.) bottle with a pump. It is a good eye make-up remover, but seems it is not so effective if you wear a heavier mascara. It is gentle, but I still prefer Sisley eye make-up remover, nothing can beat its gentleness, softness and pleasant smell.

Treatments -Darphin - 8-Flower Nectar
doree_001 4/23/2009 6:33:00 PM
I was sure that I made a review on this aromatic oil... Well, I like all Darphin aromatic oils, but I had some problems to get used on this one because of its very strong scent. The scent is almost like a strong perfume and I really didn't like it at first... it was an unpleasant surprise for me. But I got used to it after a few days. The oil is very good, indeed, and it noticeably revitalizes the skin. It is the richest and 'strongest' Darphin oil, recommended for mature skin. It is the most expensive of all Darphin oils, too. I like it, but I somehow prefer Jasmine oil - it is not as "strong" but it is sort of softer and I enjoy it more...

Polishes -Chanel - le vernis nail color # 485 DJANGO
doree_001 3/18/2009 2:08:00 PM
Very similar to Allegoria nail polish, but more beige-peachy. I prefer Allegoria -- I think it is better for cool-toned skins, and this one IMO looks better on warm-toned skins (although both are basically neutral). This one also seems to me thicker than most of other Chanel polishes that I have.

Treatments -La Prairie - SKIN CAVIAR FIRMING MASK [DISCONTINUED]
doree_001 3/13/2009 9:03:00 AM
I like this mask. Don't expect miracles, it doesn't give any spectacular, flash-effect IMO, but it is effective: it makes the features more rested and fresh, smoothes tiredness marks... and it is pleasant to use. It has a nice texture, although the packaging is a bit complicated (2 items - so no convenient when you travel) : oil in a separate bottle and a gelly mask in a pot. It is definitely the best among La Prairie masks. I will buy again.

Fragrances -L'Artisan Fragrances - Fleur de Liane

It is very green and wet, tropical, a rain-forest wild green. Lush and rich... maybe a bit sharp for my taste. 3+

Treatments -Christian Dior - Capture Total Haute Nutrition Multi-perfection nurturing oil treatment
doree_001 3/8/2009 6:47:00 PM
I think this is a pretty good product, but maybe too expensive (I compare it with Darphin oils which I use - which are all less expensive than this one, and probably of a better quality). Doesn't have such a natural, pleasant, aromatherapeutic smell like Darphin oils (it hasn't any specific smell) but it works. Very good for skin dried out by winter or harsh conditions, it nourishes and plumps out the skin. It is not heavy at all, although it is rich, but I don't think it is for younger or mixed skins - it is for mature and dry skin types. It definitely improves dry skin condition after few days of use. --- EDIT: This can't be compared with Darphin aromatic oils! After using it for a while I don't like it and wouldn't buy again. It improved my dry skin condition after few days of use in winter and that was all... in a long run it stops to work... and after using it for a while my skin is dehydrated and dry. Back to Darphin oils!!!

Toners -Estee Lauder - Re-Nutriv Intensive Softening Lotion
doree_001 3/8/2009 6:35:00 PM
Very nice toner, good for mature/dry or dehydrated skin... It is gentle and soothing, and doesn't leave gold freckles on the skin, don't worry (and I really don't know do they have any benefits for the skin or are there just to make it look pretty)... I will repurchase. 4+

Mascara -Chanel - Mascara Exceptionnel
doree_001 3/5/2009 3:23:00 PM
It gives a good volume if you use it properly (you have a video on Chanel web site with instructions how to use it) but I don't want to bother with it. If you are in a hurry you can make a mess with this mascara, it is really not the most practical mascara in the world (Inimitable mascara brush is my favorite). The brush is bulky, a bit complicated concept and I am really not very fond of it. It smudges if you don't take care, especially on lower lashes. I won't purchase again.

Loose Powders -Christian Dior - Dior Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Powder SPF 10
doree_001 3/5/2009 3:17:00 PM
New mineral make-up by Dior. I was very excited to try it. As you know, like all mineral powders you can use it on its own or over the foundation... Dior also made a brush especially for this powder (to buy it separately). I hoped this foundation was softer on the skin...but I am disappointed: it looks chalky and it is drying... I bought it in 202 Cameo and obviously it was a bad choice: this powder is not for me (I used it on its own). It is not as soft and fine as I expected, as I said - it is slightly drying (applying is a mess, of course) and the color 202 Cameo (the only cool-toned shade in the range!) is ghostly pale. It used to be a good color for me in Dior range before, but I think that lately Dior makes this shade lighter and somehow more unnatural, chalky, pale rose - makes me look really washed out, and all other shades are yellow-toned beige. Back to my old classical loose powders!

Liquid -La Prairie - Anti Aging Foundation SPF 15
doree_001 3/4/2009 11:01:00 AM
I am not overly impressed, although it is not a bad foundation. It has a good medium coverage, it is semi-mat on the skin, texture is silky and very smooth, and looks at its best if applied light-handed. Just a tad too much can result in a cakey, mask-like, dull look. I am not satisfied with the color range. All colors lean toward neutral, there are some more yellow-toned, but there's not much choice for us with cool-toned skin. There is not a real cool-toned, pink-based shade for us with cool-toned complexions, that would look fresh... so we have to take something neutral and the result is rather dull, of course. I couldn't find the right color for me in Caviar Foundation range, and I can't find it here either. 3+

Moisturizers -Estee Lauder - ReNutriv - Ultimate Youth Creme
doree_001 3/3/2009 5:55:00 PM
I had a sample and was quite satisfied with this cream. It has a pleasant consistency, rich but not heavy, it is moisturizing, makes the skin looks smooth and fresh. For a few days it was sufficient for my lightly dry, mature skin. After 4-5 days I realized that some of my other creams (Sisley, Guerlain) are better for my skin in a long run and make my skin look better (younger). I think this could be a great cream for age range 30-45.

Moisturizers -Estee Lauder - Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lifting Cream
doree_001 3/3/2009 5:48:00 PM
I don't like this cream (got a sample). When I tried it my face looked very good for the first half of hour - very bright, no shadows. But very soon, under the quite rich and thick texture of this cream I started to feel annoying dehydration. It left my skin shiny and dehydrated - very unpleasant feel. Hardly 2 lippies. (Concerning its price tag maybe it deserves 1 for a quality).

Treatments (Eye) -Estee Lauder - Re-Nutriv Ultimate Eye Creme
doree_001 3/3/2009 5:39:00 PM
Is this about Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lifting Eye Creme? It is quite a good eye cream IMO. Seems a thick consistency, but melts well into the skin - I really like the texture. Softens and brightens the eye area, and it is very moisturizing. Make-up goes very smoothly on the top of it. So far, I have only a small sample tube. Maybe I'll purchase.

Treatments -La Prairie - Anti-Aging Longevity Serum
doree_001 2/11/2009 8:17:00 AM
Very good serum, very moisturizing. Rich texture (liquidy, but almost gely, I would say). Seems that makes the complexion clearer and more fresh-looking. Anyway, after a month (or a bit more) of use, I can't say does it perform any long time benefits regarding lines, overall tone of the skin etc... EDIT (5/29/2009): I would not repurchase it. I think it is just an average serum, maybe just a bit better than average. I don't see a lot of benefits for my complexion after using it for quite a while. Good thing is there's 50 ml in a bottle, (not 30 ml what is an usual serum packaging).

Moisturizers -La Prairie - Anti-Aging Stress Cream
doree_001 2/11/2009 8:06:00 AM
Definitely very, very moisturizing. That is the strongest point of that cream. Very fresh, full of moisture and pleasant on the skin. The scent is maybe a bit too strong, like always with La Prairie. Concerning anti-aging claims, I am not sure that it helps a lot. It makes the complexion somehow clearer but I don't think that it helps with lines or makes you look more youthful (that is something that may concern only 45+ ladies, if you are younger than it may be the ideal cream for you). Very good cream. 4+
