Fragrances -Suds and Light - Body Mist in Pink Sugar
urbana 9/5/2004 12:53:00 PM
I bought this based on the reviews here and I'm so glad I did. I've never smelled the original but this smells so nice I'd like it whether or not it was a dupe of an expensive, chic fragrance. Very pretty, long lasting and reasonably priced.

Lips -Naturistics - Sweet Lips - Passion Fruit

I had one of these awhile back and adored it. It tasted really sweet and fresh, and imparted a nice rosy shine. These were dirt cheap too. I really wish they wouldn't have discontinued these little gems.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Ricepaper Eyeshadow
urbana 8/6/2004 11:36:00 PM
This is a basic color for highlighting or to use as a base. It serves these purposes well so by all means go pick it up. Just don't expect it to rock your world on it's own.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Sushi Flower eyeshadow
urbana 8/6/2004 11:13:00 PM
Sushi Flower is a really great vibrant pink color with a twinge of orange. When I saw Sushi Flower in person I wasn't sure it would create the ooommph I wanted. However when applied wet, sushi flower, showed up surprisingly well on my PPP skin. It is bright but not in a, "holy hotdamn!!! I've found a new use for my stanford highlighter!", kind of way. I've noticed that unlike a lot of Mac colors sushi flower doesn't seem to have any (please correct me if i'm wrong) knock-offs.Therefore I consider it a good investment. For a toned down look I like to use this applied all over the lid with BE True in the crease and Mac Ricepaper on the brow.

Masks -Rodan and Fields - Proactiv.

To some extent this stuff really works. However I found the glycolic toner really irritating to my sensitive skin. The cleanser and lotion are laden with BP. Despite this they did not cause the same redness and peeling as the toner. In fact they really had the opposite effect. My only other big gripe is that I could only use the lotion at night because of it's grainy texture made it readily apparent under makeup. It definitely made a difference in the overall appearance of my skin, but I noticed that I occasionally got painful cists that I had never encountered before. I'm on the line about this one. In the long run if your skin is giving you real problems it may be better and ultimately cheaper to visit a derm.

Fragrances -Shiseido - relaxing fragrance [DISCONTINUED]
urbana 8/5/2004 10:12:00 PM
As of yet this is my HG fragrance. I don't care for the energizing fragrance at all, but was immediately drawn the the relaxing. It's very green (like it's bottle) with a hint of rose. For some reason I find this to be akin to B&BW's cucumber melon, however much more sophisticated. It also doesn't smell synthetic in the least. I'm not sure about the calming effect. (I used to spray it on before tests just in case.) I do know that it is one of the only fragrances that doesn't irritate my allergies and that my boyfriend appreciates it even though it doesn't stench of sexuality. My only qualm with this one is that it doesn't last too long. But for being as non-invasive as it is this is a fair trade off.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Asphyxia
urbana 8/5/2004 10:00:00 PM
This is my favorite cool toned eyeshadow. I have noticed that it is a bit chalky but despite this it wears well and and is very versatile. Looks great alone or combined with other lavenders, silvers, hot pinks, or turquoise. Honestly this works with more color combos than you can shake a stick at. Also, this may not be pertinent, but I must admit I was partly drawn to asphyxia because of the eyebrow-raising name. However, when it comes down to it, my appreciation for the product primarily stems from it's wonderful multidimensional quality and the fact that it doesn't crease on my notoriously oily eyelids.

Cleansers -Olay - Age Defying Daily Renewal Cleanser

I love, love , love this stuff. I leave it on for five minutes before washing it off. In one fell swoop it banishes my breakouts and face flakies. Don't let the name make you think it's just for those who are combating wrinkles. The cream is also a great product.

Eye Shadow -MAC - AMBER LIGHTS
urbana 7/28/2004 3:21:00 PM
This is a really wonderful gold color with a hint of red. Honestly it reminds me of the coat on a golden retriever. However it is a lovely color for both lining or an all over lid look. Plus it stays put incredibly well. I have yet to have it crease. I usually pair it with warm colors, however it also works with blues. Amberlights is very fall appropriate, but for me a year round staple.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals #1
urbana 7/28/2004 3:12:00 PM
I really like this product. I have sensitive, pale, acne-prone skin. Most foundations I have used in the past broke me out. Of course every time this happened I would use foundation to cover it up, which would only cause me to break out even more. After using Bare Escentuals for several months I can go entirely without makeup. I no longer have to deal with new eruptions brought on by covering old ones up.I must admit that the application takes some getting used to, but once I got the hang of it I was extremely pleased. I always apply lotion five minutes before I brush it on to avoid it looking chalky. I found that by applying it this way Bare Escentuals looked more natural and did not change color on me. I also like that it has sunscreen plus a hint of glimmer in it to avoid looking too matte. This is not my perfect color match but otherwise it's my HG. Edit: I find that this does break me out, but less so than non-mineral foundations. Also, the lightest shade is too yellow and dark for my skintone. So the search for HG is still on.

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Sally Girl - China Doll
urbana 7/28/2004 1:59:00 PM
A very nice versatile striking dark green color that wears well and would work for most skin tones. This is reasonably priced to begin with but if you can find them on sale (usually for a buck) it is a true bargin.

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - All Star
urbana 7/28/2004 1:53:00 PM
Out of the four Sally Girl shadows I own I like this one the best. It's like a solid version of MAC's blue brown pigment. All Star stays on forever and works for a casual or formal look.

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Sally Girl - City Scape
urbana 7/28/2004 1:48:00 PM
These are a spectacular find. I got mine for $0.99, but I would gladly pay several times that. I believe these are Stila dupes but City Scape is also very similar to UD's Asphyxia. These last all day and didn't crease on my oily lids.

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Sally Girl - Sun Kiss
urbana 7/28/2004 1:37:00 PM
I bought Sun Kiss on clearance for $0.99 and I must say it was worth every penny. In the pan I found the color a bit garish. But it looked surprisingly good on my hazel eyes. (Finally a blue I can wear!) These last almost eight hours on me and the pigmentation is definitely comparable to higher end brands. The packaging is uber cute too. By all means pick one up if you still can.
