Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types

I too got this product as a sample from Sephora. I am glad I only got it as a sample, because the product itself was just okay. I did like a lot of things about it though. -The smell (although so many people hated it), I loved it! Lavender is one of my favorite scents, so when I applied it I really felt relaxed. -The texture. It was like a mousse, so light and velvety. -The way it felt going onto your skin. It was like water gently absorbing into my skin. -How little you needed - I literally used the size of my pinky fingernail to cover my entire face. But despite all of this, my skin never really felt hydrated or anything special. It brightened my skin, but other than that, it was just okay.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
rated 1 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:45:00 PM

Tried a sample of this product, and my skin basically exploded. I guess it was the fact that Pro Activ contains peroxide... I have to say that I am not a fan of putting the same ingredient on my face as the one that I put on my hair to highlight it. I experienced extreme redness and swelling, had to wash it off immediately and put ice on my face for hours. Never again!

Cleansers -Comfort Zone - Everyday Milk
rated 3 of 5

Comfort Zone is truly a fantastic skin care line. Being that it is a fine-italian skin care line, it contains a lot of high-end ingredients. I so, so wanted to love this cleanser, but it unfortunately did not work for me in the winter months. It would be great for allergy season, but all it did was make me break out. Smells and dispenses beautifully, love the packaging, but not the right product for me.

Shampoo -TiGi - Bed Head Dumb Blonde Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:37:00 PM

I used to be a Dumb Blonde addict. It was the best shampoo on the market, and the best reconstructor for the conditioner. But, like every other product in the world, they changed it. It is now like pouring wax on your hair. Smells great and lathers awesome, but truly does not rinse from my hair. This would be a great shampoo for the blondes who constantly highlight their hair and are experiencing a lot of breakage, however being a natural blonde it isn't for me anymore. I wish BedHead would change it back.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Curl Conscious Defining Creme
rated 3 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:33:00 PM

Although it does say it is for finer hair types, it really weighed my hair down. I have naturally wavy/curly hair, and while I have a ton of hair, it simply doesn't work. Don't get me wrong, it looks FABULOUS when you initially put it in your hair, but after about 20 minutes all I can think is "I need to wash my hair. Now". It is fun for a beach texture, but I bought it so that I could wear my hair down naturally. Unfortunately I can't do that with this hair product.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Styling Lotion
rated 5 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:29:00 PM

Love it, can't live without it. I use this pretty much every day. Smells amazing, protects your hair, gives you volume and a little bit of texture. I spray about 10-15 sprays onto my damp hair before I round brush my hair, and a little more onto my dry hair to add hold if I am curling my hair. Makes your hair shiny, it's just great. A little goes a long way.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Spray De Mode
rated 2 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:27:00 PM

I am on the fence with Bumble. There are some products that I can't live without, and yet some products such as this hairspray that truly do nothing. This was like spraying air onto my hair and spraying pimples onto my forehead. Gave it to my mom because I disliked it so much. I gave it two starts for the smell and for the packaging, because the bottle itself is very pretty. Great for those who like to feel like they're spraying their money away, but for me I like something that has much more hold.

Self Tanners -St.Tropez - Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion
rated 5 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:23:00 PM

YES. Move over, other self tanners. St Tropez just kicked your butt. There is nothing I would change about this product. It smells good, it makes your skin look great, gives you a natural looking and yet deep tan, doesn't streak, and moisturizes your skin. The aloe vera in this tanner helps soothe sentsitive skins, and helps promote a healthy looking glow without the damage of the sun. Putting on the product, is a different story. USE GLOVES. If you don't you will have the darkest palms on the planet. Make sure you put a little regular moisturizer on your drier areas such as your knees, elbows, ankles and hands (this will prevent the tanner from going into the creases). When you are applying the product, put it on fast. You don't want to rub this product into your skin, as this will give you dark pores. It is a quick apply, even out, and brush off access. Careful which clothes you wear afterwards as this will stain them. Overall, this is the best tanner on the market, and I strongly believe that you will not get a better sun-less tan with any other product.

Mascara -Korres - Deep Colour Mascara - All
rated 4 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:17:00 PM

I have very sensitive eyes, and when it comes to the all-dreaded allergy season, I need something that is going to work. This mascara feels like a feather. It goes on super soft and natural looking, while still enhancing length and thickness. It is a great everyday mascara for those who don't like to wear a ton of makeup, and will really satisfy anyone. Great basic mascara.

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Orgasm
rated 4 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:14:00 PM

This is a great all-in-one product. Although I still can't get it out of my head that NARS is ridiculously expensive, I did purchase this product three years ago and still have TONS of it left. I really don't think I will ever run out of it. The packaging is great, with a swirl of your blush brush, a swoop over your eyelids or a swipe over your lips, this product really does it all. Perfect for that after-the-beach look or to freshen up after a long day, NARS orgasm will have you saying 'Oh-la-la'!

Eyeliner -MAC - Superslick Liquid Liner
rated 5 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:10:00 PM

This is a great eyeliner. It is pretty much idiot-proof, with the felt tip pen applicator you really can't go wrong. This eyeliner comes off so easily with makeup remover. I gave it a two for packaging because really... it sucks. The product gathers all around the lid and becomes extremely difficult to peel off. I do love this eyeliner though so I will continue to buy it. A little does got a long way!

Powder -Jane Iredale - Pure Pressed Base
rated 4 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 8:04:00 PM

I used this powder for years, and while I have since switched to a different product, I still believe that Jane offers one of the best pressed powders on the market. Although it is outrageously expensive ($56 CAD), it still has incredible skin care benefits to it. As a skincare expert (and being trained in Jane Iredale products), I strongly stand by the fact that Jane is essentially 'skincare makeup'. I see most users that didn't like it only tried it once. One thing that many Jane Iredale retailers forget to mention is that over time, your skin will get BETTER after using this product. Not going to lie, when I started using Jane I didn't like it either. I thought I was breaking out too much and my skin wasn't happy, however after a few weeks my skin was 100% flawless. I always remember my trainer telling me that this poweder essentially 'de-craps' your skin. Don't forget - things will always become worse before they get better. This pressed powder is meant for those who have normal-oily skin types, and if you find that you are more on the dry side, I would definitely give the loose powder a try (which is meant for dry-sensitive skin types). Best thing to do is to speak to an esthetician who has been trained on Jane Iredale products and knows how to apply it. Should you choose to buy this product, it is a MUST that you purchase the Handi brush with it. Might seem like you're breaking the bank but I promise it is worth every penny. It is a little fluffy brush with a flat surface allowing you to apply the makeup evenly all over your face, and it will last you a lifetime.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 4 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 7:52:00 PM

Great primer to start you off into the 'primer world'. I had never used an eyeshadow primer before and I have to say that I do love the way this primer works on my lids. One complaint - it is drying. I got pretty bad eczema on my eyes because of it, but giving it a few days to rest it was fine. Quick tip - using a sensitive skin cream prior to applying the primer, it won't dry out as fast and help the primer stay on longer. However if you have eczema-prone skin I would vere away from this primer. I will most likely buy this product again, as a little does go a long way.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
rated 5 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 2:47:00 PM

LOVE! Yay, finally a brozer that actually looks natural year round and still gives you that "I just went away on vacation" glow. Doesn't break you out, doesn't fade away like most bronzers, and doesn't make you look shiny. It is horridly expensive for a bronzer ($40 CAD) but it is well worth it because it doesn't fade away as quickly as most bronzers do. Great for all skin types.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
rated 5 of 5
richellealexis 7/16/2012 2:43:00 PM

Oh my goodness. WOW. I wanted to cry tears of joy and leap into a meadow of flowers, this concealer is INCREDIBLE. I have never used anything like it. Just like the previous user had indicated, this is honestly the HG of concealers. applies so evenly and smoothly, vanishes my dark circles and puffiness, hides what little fine lines I have AND completely covers any blemishes I might have. I look like I'm wide awake 24/7. I will never use any other concealer again. Wow. Just... wow.
