Mascara -New York Color - Curling Mascara - Jet Black
prncss 5/1/2010 5:39:00 PM
I paid $1.50 CAD for this at Superstore. I love the brush because it is the perfect size and the bristles are not dense. Dense bristles don't work on my skimpy asian lashes. However, this formula is really dry so it barely coats my lashes. I tried putting the tube in a cup of hot water to make the formula more runny but it didn't work. I will be tossing this in the garbage.

Concealers -Bonne Bell - My Style
prncss 4/19/2010 1:09:00 AM
I am NC35 medium tanned skin and the "light" shade was a good match for my skin. I paid $5 for this which was cheap for a concealer. Like others have said, this formula is runny so it needs a bit more work to blend. I use this on my undereye circles and discoloration around my nose and lips. I apply the concealer directly onto my skin and blend it with my fingers until it smooths out. However, once this is dry it has a very natural dewy finish. It conceals my discoloration and does not look cakey at all. This has light to medium coverage so it does not have a whole lot of coverage for those that have really dark circles. Also, this would not conceal blemishes. The biggest disappointment about this was the applicator. It has a brush tip and you have to squeeze the concealer out of it but it is a little tricky to control the amount you need. You have to squeeze lightly to prevent too much product from coming out. Nonetheless, I really like this because of the dewy natural finish. Most concealers are cakey but I can wear this alone without foundation and it looks natural. Best of all, it is cheap.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Advantage Acne Spot Treatment
prncss 4/9/2010 4:59:00 AM
Wow this stuff actually works!! I don't understand the negative reviews about getting dry skin. This is not a moisturizer. It's supposed to dry the heck out of the pimple and it really does fast. Before I go to bed, I use this and when I wake up in the morning, the pimple is either gone or drastically reduced. I only need a maximum of 2 applications before it is completely gone. I've used a lot of acne spot treatments but none work better or as fast as this one. Keep in mind, I have fairly clear skin and only get the odd pimple or small bumps here and there. I'm not sure how this would work on severe acne. Love this! And a tube lasts forever. I've had mine for over a year.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Show Pony Palette
prncss 4/9/2010 4:44:00 AM
This packaging is soooo pretty. It's the prettiest palette I've ever owned and I love that it has a sizeable mirror included on the inside, which is not something I would expect from a cardboard compact. What's great about Show Pony is that it comes with the cult favorites like the mini sized Primer Potion and 24/7 liner. It is such great value at $36 CAD along with 6 shadows. This is my first time using Urban Decay shadows and now I finally get what the buzz is all about. They are uber pigmented and the texture is soooo buttery and easy to apply, like no other brand I've tried. These shadows blend like a dream and like others have said, the shades are so unique. Unlike the majority, my favorite shade is Snatch. I don't like neutrals but this is a happy medium because it has a neutral base and chunky eye-catching glitter. It looks beautiful on my NC35 skin. I only wish they sold this separately as it is the only shade I have used regularly (but there is a similar dupe in Tokidoki Diamante). Highly Recommended Palette!

Lips -Cover Girl - Continuous Color in Parisian Pink
prncss 4/9/2010 4:29:00 AM
Out of all my lipsticks, both high end and drugstore, I find myself grabbing this one the most. This shade goes so well with my NC35 medium skin and would look great on Asian skintones. I would say this is a matte finish that is not drying and has decent staying power. I like this formula better than MAC and it is so inexpensive ($6 CAD a tube). Keep in mind, this has a waxy smell at first but it goes away after application and does not linger.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Last Matte Lipstick in 901B Think Pink
prncss 4/9/2010 4:13:00 AM
This is a far cry from the old Wet 'n' Wild lipsticks back in the 90s with the cheap blue and white packaging that applied sheer no matter what the color. The new packaging is sleek and modern, and looks better than a lot of drugstore brands. I like that this is a thinner tube. This nude pink has great pigmentation and good color payoff, and fairly good staying power. My only gripe is that it is too dry and seems to suck all the moisture off my lips. I don't like how dry my lips feel with this on. I will use the rest because the color is beautiful and matches so many different makeup looks (smokey eye or natural shades) but I will not repurchase. If you're looking for a less dry version in a similar tone, try Covergirl lipstick in Parisian Pink 545.

Moisturizers -LUSH - Cosmetic Lad
prncss 4/9/2010 3:31:00 AM
I love Cosmetic Lad. I've been using this for a month and it is my favorite face cream ever. It smells like a fruit smoothie and I like that it is natural, and doesn't contain harsh chemicals. Keep in mind, this is not a lightweight cream. I personally like heavier creams and this gives me a beautiful dewy look underneath my powder foundation. It smooths out all the dry areas on my face and keeps my face moisturized for most of the day. My only complaint is that this is pretty pricey for the amount you get. I've already used up half and I probably have another 3 weeks before it's all gone. Will definitely repurchase again and again.

Polishes -Revlon - Pink Again 180
prncss 4/8/2010 12:36:00 AM
Pink Again is a light pink (think Easter colored pink) with iridescence. I find that the formula of the nail polish itself is streaky and as for the color, I need to apply 2 coats to get the color to show up. Pink Again is a unique shade for those that like nude or pale pinks because at some angles, it looks like it has light purple tones in it. Personally I'm not a big fan of the iridescence and you can't really tell from the bottle until you put it on (hence, 3 lippies). I wished that it was a true pastel color.

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
prncss 3/27/2010 4:11:00 AM
I wanted this ever since I saw this on MUA but they don't sell E.L.F in Canada. Luckily I found this for $7 CAD at Winners and was so happy that I finally got this because the NARS version is $46 CAD. This definitely lives up to the hype for me and I love it. I have both NARS Super Orgasm and Orgasm, so when I swatched it next to the E.L.F. version, the NARS is slightly darker. However, the shades can be made to match if you apply a few more swipes. I was really surprised how high quality this is and it is comparable to most high end brands. This beats my Estee Lauder blush which has virtually no pigment. The E.L.F. has high pigmentation and is not chalky at all. Also, you get so much product (8 grams) with this. The bronzer is beautiful on my NC 35/40 asian skin. Even though there is shimmer in the pan, it does not show up on my skin which is good. The bronzer is a true chocolate and not orange or red at all. However, it does need to be applied with a light hand, otherwise it will be too muddy. I would suggest you use a duo-fiber brush with this. This is a great product for an amazing price. Love it!

Crème -MAC - Select SPF 15 Moistureblend [DISCONTINUED]
prncss 3/27/2010 3:40:00 AM
I love the great selection of foundation shades and the high quality compact that comes with a mirror and separate compartment for the sponge underneath. I bought this in NC40 and was looking for a light coverage foundation that was easy and quick to blend. I've had this for 6 months but I don't use it that often and don't like it. I have clear skin but even then, this does nothing to even out my skin tone whatsoever. I don't understand what the point is if it's that sheer. Tinted moisturizers have better coverage. I like that this has a dewy finish and blends easily and quickly, and is meant for dry skin. However, this makes my skin itchy sometimes. I would not repurchase again because there is no coverage and it does not even out my skin tone, even on clear skin.

Concealers -Annabelle - Skin True Concealer
prncss 3/27/2010 2:38:00 AM
I paid $8 CAD for this, which is good value considering you get 4 concealers. I like that this is not in a tube and resembles the higher end concealers that come in a pot. That way you can dip your brush into it if you like. Like others said, this has a very thin texture so it only has light coverage. Some people said that this is greasy but if you leave this out to dry for a few days with the top off (as the reviewer below suggested), the product will dry up a bit and be less greasy. I love all the shades of this because they all have yellow undertones, which is hard to find in a drugstore concealer. The darkest color can be used alone on my NC35/40 asian skin, and the two lightest colors conceal my undereye circles when applied underneath foundation. Therefore, all 3 shades are usable. The fourth white shade is advertised as a highlighter on the Annabelle website. However, it has no color so I use this as primer to fill in fine lines around my eye area. Overall, I will use this as a back up but it is not my go to concealer. I won't repurchase after I use this up because the texture is too thin.

Highlighters -New York Color - Colour Wheel Mosaic Powder Translucent Highlighter Glow
prncss 3/23/2010 6:32:00 PM
I love the NYC mosaic face powders and own them in 4 shades. These are dirt cheap at $5 a pop and they are just so pretty to look at. I like all of them except for Bronze Glow, which is my least favorite because it turned out red brown on me instead of a rich tan. I like the translucent glow. This doesn't really have a glow or highlighting properties but it is great as a setting powder. Even though there are browns and beiges in the pan, this is truly translucent and has no color. You need to apply this with a light hand. Otherwise, it can look chalky. Because you don't need a lot of product, this will last forever.

Pressed Powders -New York Color - Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder in Bronze Glow
prncss 3/23/2010 6:18:00 PM
I rushed out to buy this after reading all the good reviews. I love the NYC mosaic face powders and own them in 4 shades. These are dirt cheap at $5 a pop and they are just so pretty to look at. The Bronze Glow is my least favorite of all the mosaic powders though. I have NC35/40 medium tanned asian skin with yellow undertones. My favorite bronzers are Too Faced Chocolate Soleil and Benefit HOOLA. The Bronze Glow has too much red in it which is really unflattering for those with yellow undertones. On my skin, this looks like a red brown rather than a nice rich tan. It looks really unnatural and would probably be better for those with pink undertones. Also, you need to apply this with a really light hand as this is really pigmented. I would not purchase again.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Golden Sunset
prncss 3/23/2010 6:07:00 PM
I love L'oreal eyeshadows. They are really pigmented for a drugstore eyeshadow and are true to color and not chalky (unlike Covergirl eyeshadows). I have been using L'oreal eyeshadows for years and my favorite is Lush Raven, a matte black that also works well for brows. Golden Sunset is a light apricot/peachy gold shimmer shade. When I put this on my eyelids, however, the peach does not show up at all on my NC35/40 asian skin. I would not recommend this as an all over eyeshadow for people with medium to dark skintones. This works great as a highlighter though, under the eyebrows and on the corners of the eyes. It is a great alternative shade to gold or silver highlighters. The packaging quality is not very good. I've had the top cover break a few times on my other shades. However, L'oreal is changing their packaging from the gold/beige compact to a sturdier-looking black compact. The new packaging may be higher quality. Overall, this is good as a highlighter but is too light as an eyeshadow for darker skin. Would not buy again.

Shampoo -Back to Basics - Coconut Mango Moisture Quenching Shampoo
prncss 3/23/2010 5:48:00 PM
I've been using this for 6 months. I wanted to get a good test of this before writing a review because with shampoo, it is important to see what the long-term results are like. This smells absolutely amazing. The scent reminds me of an exotic island cocktail so I can see why a lot of people like this shampoo. However, it is just a basic shampoo and does not moisturize at all. I have almost-waist length asian hair and my hair is still dry after using this. Worst part is that after a few months, I got really really bad dandruff which proves that this shampoo has not been moisturizing my scalp very well. I will be switching back to my HG Head & Shoulders. Although this smells nice, it is not worth the dandruff I got from it.
