I purchased the Sunray Lipglass on eBay, and had no idea what the color looked like beforehand. It is more orange than it is copper, and unlike some of my other lipglasses, doesn't seem to lighten when you apply a sheer layer. Definitely not buying this one ever again.
When I got the item, I found that it smelled like a crayon. My other lipglasses smell like yellow cake (or something like that... yum!) Did anyone else experience this?
Luckily at the MAC store in town (and I think all MAC counters), they provided me with a small sample of this Oil Control Lotion in a small plastic MAC cup. I did NOT like this product at all. I have very oily skin, and I thought this product would absorb the excess oil. In fact, it did just the opposite and made my skin even oilier!!! I've never used their skincare products before, so I'm glad I asked for a sample before shelling out bazooka bucks on moisturizer when I could have bought a Lipglass or something else that I like.
Ladies, if you're "iffy" on one of the skincare products, always remember you can ask for a sample. The worst the MAC MA can say is no. Normally when you get a sample from the MAC counter, they'll put it in one of those little white MAC covered containers, and label the product for you.
Sheena is my first (and only) MAC Lip Lacquer, and I love it. The consistency is sort of silky. Not too sticky like the Lipglasses, and not too matte-dry like the Lacquers. My favorite is to brush this color over MAC Lipstick in X-S or Lac Lustre in Treasured.
But, like some people said earlier, there are a few problems...
* The product tends to stay at the top of the wand near the handle, and oozes out. Maybe the hole in the tube is too small and pushes the product up the wand when you replace the applicator?
* Packaging could be better (see above)
* It not easy at all to apply this product with the brush. I think it should have been the other way around with the Lac Lustre sponge and Lacquer brush applicators.
Other than that, I think this is a great product, and could add some shine to matte lipsticks, or tone down some of the more dramatic colors =)
I purchased this at the MAC store because I was looking for a brownish-red color, and this is what the MAC employee suggested. I'm very tan, with black hair and brown eyes, and X-S looks good on me. However it looks like an evening color because it takes on more of a red tone. I found that X-S looks a lot better on me when I layer MAC Lacquer in Sheena over it.
