Fragrances -BerrySweet - Pure Rose Oil
rated 1 of 5

I was so excited to find pure rose oil - I've been looking for a nice clean, pure rose scent like Yankee Candles reed diffuser or room spray "Fresh Cut Roses". This is NOT it! This smells like an old ladies purse from back in the 70s. Good God it awful!! Also, it took 3 weeks for it to arrive along w/ a Hyacinth scent that is only slightly less offensive. Horrible stuff!!! And reeeaaaally sloooow shipping.

Skincare - Face -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 50% Glycolic Peel
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 12/17/2009 7:54:00 PM

I've been holding off reviewing this product because so many times people are too quick to praise a product without giving it enough time to know if it really is as great as they think it is. I'm guilty of doing it too :-) I bought this after trying Natura Bisse Extreme Peel. I LOVED it, but the price is obscene! (I tried samples). Some words of caution: don't over estimate your skin's tolerance for glycolic acid. I think some of the people who complained about burning their skin or drying it out started with too high of a concentration and/or left it on too long. Also DO NOT exfoliate prior to using this peel! One night I used my Pretika & didn't even think about it and then did this peel. Big mistake. I could feel it burn a little extra and it was red & burning after I washed it off. Sure enough I had burned my cheeks. They had a slight (clear) scab for several days after that peeled slightly. Other than that I've had no adverse reactions or problems with this peel. I use this two or three times a week. I leave it on for 2-3 minutes prior to my shower. It seems to be keeping my skin smooth and very clear. My pores are cleaner & less noticeable than before I used this. It does take a couple of washes with cleanser to remove to residue. I never peel afterwards; I think it exfoliates just enough- not so much that you peel. I've used this for over 2 months and overall I really like it and will repurchase. For $25 you get a good amount that lasts quite a while. I still have half of each bottle left. It's very cost effective as facial peels go and is highly effective. Wait an hour or so after use & follow with a gentle moisturizer (Paula's Choice Barrier Repair or Complex 15).

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 12/17/2009 7:34:00 PM

This is a pretty nice moisturizer. I like the consistency and it doesn't leave my skin greasy- I seem to get less oily during the day when I use this than when I use my other lotion (I use a mixture of Neostrata 10% glycolic acid lotion, Complex 15 & niacinamide powder). I switch off between the two. I think the price is reasonable and it's a nice pump bottle (I hope I'll be able to get the last little bit out. Pumps aren't great for that; I break them open when empty to make sure I get ALL of my lotion out. What can I say, I try not to be wasteful :-) It hasn't broken me out or seemed to clog my pores. I would recommend this moisturizer and I don't agree with the others who say it's not moisturizing enough. I think it's just right. Update 6/26/10- I'm still using this and I'm still loving it. It hasn't caused me ANY skin problems at all. I think I've found my HG!!!

Accessories -Bath and Body Works - Wallflowers Wall Plug Home Fragrance
rated 1 of 5
lisa7788 11/20/2009 8:34:00 PM

I first bought the scentport but that was way too powerful. It overwhelmed the whole house. I down sized to the wallflower plug in, but it's no better or not even as good as a Glade plug in. I can't even notice the fragrance. Expensive for what you get. I wouldn't repurchase.

Skincare - Body -Crabtree & Evelyn - Naturals Botanical and Mineral Body Mist - Pink Grapefruit and Cucumber
rated 2 of 5
lisa7788 10/31/2009 7:19:00 PM

This body mist smells GREAT! I love it! However, I only gave it 2 lippies because the staying power is zero. Maybe the lotions last longer or as someone else suggested layering it w/ lotion, but for the retail price, it's a rip off. (I rec'd it through a swap :-)

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Rohto V - ICE Redness Relief Lubricant Eye Drops
rated 1 of 5
lisa7788 10/31/2009 6:07:00 PM

Holy crap!!! I must have bought the dish detergent version of these.... These drops sting like crazy and no, it doesn't get better until you've rubbed the drops out of your eyes. I can't believe I made a special trip to Walgreens for these based on the praise they received here. }:-( I bought the ICE version. No wonder everyone is itchy-eye-free, the burning & stinging take your mind off of that!!!! It's like putting Vicks Vaporub in your eyes... comfy... I'll be going back to return these. There is no way I could ever use these.

Treatments -Natura Bisse - GlycoLine Glyco Extreme Peel
rated 1 of 5
lisa7788 10/22/2009 8:01:00 PM

Update 11/18: I dropped my rating from 5 to 1 because of the price. It's pure robbery to charge this much for so little. I'm using MUAC 50% glycolic peel with good results for a wee fraction of the ridiculous price of this. Save your $ and go with MUAC. Remember also, buy the appropriate strength for your skin. Don't be one of those idiots with dry or normal skin who over do it w/ a high % peel! Start low & go up. This is the best mask/peel I've ever used!! That being said, I'm on a mission to find something as good (or at least pretty close) but is MUCH cheaper. I received some samples (each packet is .05 oz) and I got two applications from each. I guess you could get a years use out of a 1 oz. bottle, but the price of approx $225+ is a stretch. Ok, enough about the price- The peel is clear and thick like honey. And sticky. The first time I left it one 15 minutes. After washing it off I couldn't believe how smooth & silky my skin felt. Some clogged pores had popped up & I was able to clear them out very easily. The next morning two zits that were beginning to crop up on my chin had reduced by about 90%! By the end of the day they were gone. Excellent! The second time I used it I had great results as well. Once again it sent some angry pimples packing! Very impressive. The 3rd time I lost track of time & left it on too long; about 30 minutes. The next day my skin was a little dry, but not too bad. This really is a great peel. I just can't justify paying that much- the ingredients just can't cost that much! It just seems greedy of the company to price their products this high. I'm trying the Ren Glycolactic peel next.

Other -Bath and Body Works - Aromatherapy Scentport Fragrance Diffuser
rated 4 of 5
lisa7788 10/11/2009 1:40:00 PM

Whoa!! This is like a Glade Plug -In on steroids! Good thing I like the scent I bought because this is plugged into the bedroom on one end of the house and it travels everywhere! I could even smell it outside yesterday w/ the BR window cracked. I took one lippie off because I think it's a bit too strong. I don't really want the scent overpowering the house, let alone the room. I'll repurchase, but I'll make sure the scents are neutral enough that it doesn't overpower the house!

Treatments (Eye) -Elemis - eye serum
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 10/11/2009 10:44:00 AM

I've been using Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate. I like it alot, but thought I'd just look to see if there might be something as good, but a bit cheaper before I repurchased. I found Elemis eye serum. It is expensive, but you need so little I imagine a bottle will last quite a while. One drop will do both eyes. The consistency is just like another reviewer described - like heavy water. It's not sticky or oily. It goes on nicely and absorbs well. My eye area is nicely hydrated & ready for my concealer & eye shadow and never looks crepey. It does seem to make fine lines less noticable. I've only used this a couple of weeks, so I'll update later whether it's really as good as everyone says. So far I'm happy with it and would recommend it. Be careful with the dropper- it may drip and you don't want to waste any! Update 11/5/09: this is nice, but I prefer Clarins. The moisture lasts longer and my MAC paint goes on nicely. I don't think both products are necessary, so I'll repurchase my beloved Clarins!

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
rated 4 of 5
lisa7788 10/4/2009 6:23:00 PM

This works very well as a toner. I can't imagine paying big $$ for a commercial toner. This on a wet cotton ball works very well relieving a lot of my oiliness and doesn't dry my skin. Don't wipe it too close to your eyes though, it'll make them water! I think it's helping keep blemishes at bay as well. Well worth the whopping $4.79! LOL

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint - All
rated 4 of 5
lisa7788 9/24/2009 6:20:00 AM

I love paints, but the packaging sucks! It's almost impossible to coax the amount you want out of the tube without wasting 10x that much as it either pops out or continues oozing out on it's own. Really bad design! Otherwise, they're great. (Can you tell I've just been wrestling with it this morning??)

Treatments -Acne.org - AHA+
rated 3 of 5
lisa7788 9/20/2009 7:17:00 PM

This is a great product. My only complaint is the same as some of the other reviewers. I find it does pill up on my face, so I'd go back to Walgreens AHA for facial use during the day. It doesn't dry or irritate my skin and it is a nice moisturizer. It's a big tube for the $ and it lasts a long time. Recommended!

Fragrances -The Body Shop - Cassis Rose ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
lisa7788 9/18/2009 6:38:00 AM

I was so excited to give this a try based on the reviews here. It is a very nice rose scent, but as others have said, it is short lived. It's also not the true rose scent others have claimed. At least not to my nose :-) It's more of a powdery rose, not clean & pure like say, rose water or my rose reed diffuser. It's still very nice while it lasts, but not worth full price (on clearance for $2 :-) I like the little spray bottle!

Treatments -Peter Thomas Roth - Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 9/14/2009 9:04:00 PM

Oooo, I really like these pads! I'm so glad I stumbled upon the review for these here. I haven't used them long, but I love how soft & smooth my face feels after! I use a half a pad & leave the peel on for 3 minutes per the instructions. I haven't experienced any irritation or dryness. I can only hope it keeps my pores clear like everyone says. I have faith, since I already like them. Even after using my Pretika Sonic these still get dirt off my face! (from my pores, I hope!) I'll update after I've used them longer. For now, I'd say give them a try. Your face will feel wonderful!

Gels/Soaps -Tom's of Maine - Natural moisturizing body bar
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 9/14/2009 8:39:00 PM

This is a great natural soap that isn't drying and it doesn't cause breakouts if I use it on my face. It leaves my skin soft & smooth. Very nice; I'll buy again.
