Moisturizers -St. Ives - Cucumber & Elastin Eye & Face Stress Gel ] [DISCONTINUED]
kissmark 7/12/2004 11:02:00 AM
I'm not sure what this product is supposed to do. By itself it does not provide enough hydration, and made my face feel dry and tight. I ended up putting another moisturizer on top of it. It did feel slightly cool right after you put it on, but that lasted about 10 seconds. Right now I'm just using it around my eyes during daytime. I got it from drugstore.com for 3.11, but I will not purchase again. It didn't make my skin worse, it just didn't do anything.

Sunscreen -L'Oreal - UV Perfect Ultimate Protection Fluid with Mexoryl XL SPF 50/PA+++
kissmark 7/3/2004 8:18:00 PM
This is one of the better sunscreens in terms of protection. It's expensive for a drug store product, about 10 dollars for 40 ml) It has a slight white cast on me (medium skin) but that's barely noticeable after 5 minutes. The finish is dewy and shiny, and might not be a good choice for someone with very oily skin. Butit's still much better than anthelios creme. I find the shin tolerable and it looks fine with a little powder. I will repurchase if I can get my hands on it again, but it's not sold here in the US.

Overall I'll buy this again, coz it's so cheap. But couple of things that I didn't like: 1. it smells really nasty. My legs stank after I applied it. 2. The design of the bottle makes it hard to get the lotion out, wish it had a pump. 3. It's actually quite light so you'll need at least 2 coats to see a difference. I gave it 4 lippes because it's cheap, and the results are not bad.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15
kissmark 6/13/2004 7:15:00 PM
I have started using this instead of Olay Complete FF spf 15, because I was told that this one provides better UVA protection. I didn't experince any irritations, but I don't use it around my eyes since some people said that it stinged their eyes. It has a pump, and is reasonably priced. 4 lippies instead of 5 because the finish is still slighly shinny, not as matte as Olay complete. But I will repurchase for it's good UVA protection.

Sunscreen -Avene - extreme sunblock cream spf 50
kissmark 6/13/2004 11:24:00 AM
Boy, this sunscreen leaves a REALLY bad white cast. When I first put it on I looked like a clown! This is due to the high mineral content, as it uses physical blockers only. The cast eventually gets absorbed and goes away somewhat, but it's still visible on my face (I have medium yellow toned skin). Finish wise it's a little dewy and greasy, but less so than Anthelios XL Creme. Will not purchase because there are other options for me. But for ladies with extra sensitive skin, they might be a good try.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL SPF 60 Fluide Extreme
kissmark 6/12/2004 11:27:00 AM
In terms of protection and finish this is probably the best out there. It's got great uva/uvb protection, and has a very matte, non greasy finish (this is a HUGE improvement from their XL creme). Even on my combo/oil skin it still looks nice. However, when I try to rub it in it balls up and flakes, but this happens a lot w/ liquid lotion sunscreen (vs. cream sunscreen). This still leaves me a very slight white cast (barely noticeable). This is also quite expensive, about 25 dollars for 50 ml and then shipping (which can be quite high because I'm ordering from the US). I think this won't last me very long if I use it everyday. EDITED May 2008: After I finished my first bottle I didn't repurchase again, because I found many Japanese sunscreens which have better finish. Last month however as it got hotter and the sun became stronger, I decided to purchase it again. I don't know what happened but after a week of continuous use I broke out in many pimples and whiteheads. In my original review I mentioned that the finish is decent, but that was before I tried the Japanese sunscreens. In comparison, this one is much oilier. I will not repurchase again. I've changed my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL ,SPF 60+
kissmark 6/11/2004 3:34:00 PM
This proudct is supposed to be the most potent sunscreens out there. But it is super greasy and leaves a slight white cast on me. So far it has not broken me out yet, but I haven't wore this long enough to say that for sure. I will not repurchase because of the greasyness. Will probably give it to my mom who has dry skin.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Blemish Cover Stick
kissmark 5/17/2004 11:52:00 AM
This is a very good concealer that does not break me out and looks natural. It has several color options so you'll sure to find one that will match your skin. It stays on well, and looks great under my foundation. I carry it everywhere I go for touch up's. 4 lippies instead of 5 because I think 20 dollars is a kinda steep for a little tube of concealer. But other than that, I will definitly repurchase.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
kissmark 5/13/2004 2:30:00 PM
I was hesitant to try this first because I read that it broke so many people out. However when I stayed with my friend this is the only thing she had, so I gave it a try. To my surprised I really like it, and immediatly bought a bottle for myself. I need something very gentle because I use prescription creams that dry my skin out. In my opinion, Cetaphil is more gentle than Purpose, J&J head to toe, alpha hydrox foam wash. It does leave a thin film, but I think it's more for hydration purpose and doesn't break me out or anything. I gave it 4 lippies instead of 5 because it doesn't remove makeup or heavy sunscreen well. To remove makeup I use olive oil (gentle and effective) first.

Moisturizers -Olay - Olay Complete - Fragrance Free
kissmark 5/10/2004 2:21:00 PM
I've been using this product for about a month now and overall am quite please with it. Compare to the other sunscreen moistures I've used, this is definitly the least greasy. It absorbs quickly, does not leave a white cast, and feels very matte. Best of all, it does not block my pores or make me breakout. The only reason I gave it 4 lippies instead of 5, is that I would like a higher spf than just 15. I'm considering to try the spf 30 version, but that's almost 2 times the price of this one with less product.

Powder -Aromaleigh - Pure Cover Foundation Powder [DISCONTINUED]
kissmark 3/24/2004 1:10:00 PM
The good: doesn't break me out (a big concern for me), great color selection, great coverage, reasonably priced. The bad: looks kind of cakey, settles into pores and lines, easily smudged off. It might be because I haven't found the right way to apply it, as I know application methods matters a lot with mineral makeup. I will probably repurchase. Although it's not my HG, it's not too expensive, and most importantly doesn't break me out.

Skincare - Body -Johnson & Johnson - Head to Toe baby wash
kissmark 3/23/2004 11:35:00 AM
This is a great basic cleanser that didn't break me out or dry out my skin. The packaging is not really fancy but for the price I've got nothing to complaint. Might be slightly drying for dry skin, but much better than some of the others that I've tried.

Masks -Borghese - Fango Active Mud for Face and Body
kissmark 3/18/2004 12:48:00 AM
This stuff is awsome!! Totally dries up all my pimples. And my face feels sooooo good afterwards, clean and smooth. Too bad I couldn't afford to use it on a regular basis (I use Queen Helen's Mint Julep but it's not the same) so I only use it for emergencies or before something important. Highly recommend.

Eyeliner -Bath and Body Works - Liquid Liners (all)

I'm currently on my 3rd bottle of this liquid eyeliner, which says a lot for a product junky like me who rarely finishs anything. It' reasonablly priced, good coverage, and easy to apply. It does smudge on me just a little bit after a few hours, but then again everything does.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant
kissmark 10/27/2003 6:55:00 PM
Okay I tried the 1% BHA lotion first and didn't like that at all. It blocked my pores and didn't seem to make a difference to my skin. I decided to give the 2% solution a try and it turned out to be a much better product. It doesn't block my pores and does what it claims.
