Styling Products -John Frieda - Heat Defeat

Of course I didn't check Makeup Alley prior to purchasing or I would have opted for another leave-in/protected. But I bought it so I figured I would at least try it. This is stuff is DISGUSTING!!!! It make my hair flat, greasy, clingy, and dried out. It looked the worst it has in a long time! It is as if I didn't even shower for 2 days, so gross (I have to wash my hair daily or it gets greasy). I didn't even use that much either. I thought this might be nice because a lot of leave-in's are protecting enough or moisturizing enough (I blow-dry my hair daily) and this has jojoba oil in it. This is getting trashed! Too bad to because I don't consider $1 per oz all that cheep either. UGH! It you have to try this I would advise doing so when you have enough time to rewash your hair if needed, because I didn't and got stuck going to work like this. :( ..... later the same day a huge chunk of hair got all knotted/tangled and broke off!!!! I had to spray my hair with detangler just to comb it! I would give this negative lippies if I could

Lotions/ Creams -Cerave - Moisturizing Cream
jaqi16 3/24/2010 12:03:00 PM
I absolutely love this stuff. I was having a really bad case of eczema on my eyelids and under eye area (so bad people thought I had been crying all the time or that I "looked sad"). Everything I had tried burned to put on and didn't work. I tried creams specially made for eczema, I was so desperate I even used steroid creams both over the counter creams and prescription creams and nothing worked. Then I remembered reading somewhere that someone used this for their eczema. I already had the lotion which I love (reviewed separate) so I went out and paid $15 for a tub of cream I was hoping would do the trick. That night after washing my face I applied the cream all over both eyelids/undereye areas. I was extremely skeptical because it didn't feel thick or greasy at all. Only somewhat heavier than the lotion and I thought for sure my the morning by eyes would be a flaky mess. When I woke up however it was like nothing I had seen before they were 99% healed! I used it again in the morning after my shower (since I now knew it wouldn't look greasy) and bingo my eczema was completely, COMPLETELY healed in 1 day! This is after WEEKS of trying other products! I did use it one night on my entire face and although it didn't break me out or anything. I thought it may be a little heavy to do every night, so now I use it once in a while as a night face cream. My main use is as an eye cream I use twice a day, hand cream, and any extra dry spot cream. My hands are always clean when I use it, so the tub doesn't bother me although I probably would prefer a pump or tube that could travel, so under packaging quality I took off a couple points. I love how this sinks in and is not greasy or waxy at all!!!!! I also love how there is no added fragrance and no sunscreen (which often looks oily or burns my skin). I love this formula and wouldn't change a thing. I will absolutely 100% repurchase this when it runs out. It's a great deal for the amount of product you get. Definitely my HG eye cream! Update 2/13/11: I still absolutely adore this stuff. I've been using it as a night cream ( a little goes a long way). It doesn't clog my pores at all and I wake up with comfortable dewy skin. No eczema breakouts here. This stuff will last forever. The tub barley looks like I've used any. I've even taken some out to put in a travel container. Definitely my HG!!!!!!!

Lotions/ Creams -Lubriderm - Unscented Moisture Lotion
jaqi16 12/8/2009 10:12:00 PM
I purchased the Daily Moisture Fragrance Free lotion for about $7.00. I really like this product :) I don't know if they changed this formula or what but it definitely is not what I remember from years ago. I recently repurchased and I am impressed! It's a light creamy lotion that really sinks in and doesn't leave skin greasy, oily, sticky or waxy. It has no added fragrance which is a plus, so it doesn't smell like flowers or fruit or anything (it does have a slight smell that is non-offensive as there are no masking fragrances). I was a little skeptical since the second ingredient in it is mineral oil, but it is great! It leaves my skin feeling really healthy. The bottle has a very convenient pump also that will lock for travel. I will repurchase when I run out!

Treatments -Sexy Hair Concepts - Big Sexy Hair - Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner
jaqi16 10/14/2009 2:28:00 AM
No too bad. It leaves my hair with a lot of body, while it detangles, but not sure if it really moisturizes too well. It is lightweight and can be layered with other styling products. I would repurchase this. I just used this in combination with a leave-in moisturizing creme and they balanced each other out perfectly. Here's what I want in a leave in conditioner, and here is how this product rates: 1. Detangles: Yes, works well while hair is wet. Average when dry. 2. Creates shine: Average 3. Reduces Frizz: Works well to reduce frizz. Still have some fly-aways at crown. 4. Adds softness: My hair is very soft. 5. Mends split ends: It doesn't make them worse. With this they seem less noticeable. 6. Adds some moisture: A little. Doesn't leave it feeling super moisturized, but it also keeps a lot of body in my hair (maybe even adds some). 7. Static reducer: No difference 8. Good Smell: It isn't bad, but I don't love it. Fruity undertones 9. Price: This was about $14 This is starting to grow on me. I wasn't sure at first and didn't like it, but I keep reaching for it. More than likely I will repurchase. I love the fine mist. Mine doesn't have the squirt gun handle, just the regular pump, would like to find the one with the gun handle.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Proclaim Olive Moisturzing Leave-In Crème
jaqi16 10/14/2009 2:14:00 AM
Wow! I would have never bought this product myself, but it was free (with coupon) when you buy the shampoo and conditioner, and I LOVE THIS!!!! I use just the smallest amount rub my palms together and smooth over my dry hair. I now have ZERO flyaways, zero! Also my hair is so soft and shiny and smells soooo good. Just be careful you don't use too much. I applied first from ears down and used the remainder on my hands to smooth down the hairs on my crown. I would repurchase this, even if it was $30.... but it's a steel at under $5. Think I found a new HG!

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Proclaim Olive Glossing Conditioner
jaqi16 10/14/2009 2:09:00 AM
I used this today and I liked it so much I went back and bought the liter size of this! I used this with the matching shampoo and leave-in creme. My hair has never been shinier, softer or healthier looking. I'm not sure which product created these amazing results out of the three, but I will continue to use all three products! Oh and they smell sooooo good!!! The directions say to towel dry then apply and leave on for 2-5 minutes. I didn't use it that way. I just squeezed out excess water and applied the conditioner. I left it on for a couple minutes, then rinsed. It detangled as the water ran over it. We're talking possible new HG here!

Conditioner -Ion - Anti-Frizz Solutions - Leave-In Conditioner Detangler Spray
jaqi16 10/7/2009 11:50:00 PM
I have been trying out a lot of leave-in conditioners lately searching for a good one (I will try to review them all). I wanted a leave-in because my hair has breakage (at the crown usually, or new growth, don't know, either way=flyaway madness) and frizz, and even though I just got it cut there are still some split ends. Here's what I want in a leave in conditioner, and here is how this product rates: 1. Detangles: No tangles until hair is dry for more than an hour or so. 2. Creates shine: Average 3. Reduces Frizz: Somewhat 4. Adds softness: My hair is very soft at first, but towards the end of the day the ends start getting crunchy. 5. Mends split ends: NO! It dries the ends out and makes them stiff, so I worry about more split ends, 6. Adds some moisture: At first but then dries it out by the end of that day. 7. Static reducer: No seems to make it worse, since my hair is so dry. 8. Good Smell: It isn't bad. 9. Price: This was about $5 at Sally's. I really did NOT like this (I returned it).

The consistency was very watery and should have probably been in a spray bottle. The second day I did transfer some to a spray bottle, which worked a little better. Static reducer: No seems to make it worse, since my hair is so dry. 8. Good Smell: Yes, this scent reminds me of my childhood. I think my mom used the original version. 9. Price: This was about $6 at Sally's. I really did NOT like this (a side from the terrific smell). Will not repurchase.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Generic Value Products-GVP Smoothing Serum Compare To: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum
jaqi16 10/6/2009 7:25:00 PM
Wow! I really like this. I have the original Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum, and the only thing I really find different is the bottle. I actually love the PM bottle with the locking pump, especially the travel size one they have. But you can be sure I will just be refilling those PM bottles with the GVP version, since I haven't been able to tell much of a difference (it might be slightly thinner). They both work great at smoothing my hair and adding softness. Previously the PM was the only salon item I've repurchased, and now I will be repurchasing the GVP version when I run out. Excellent value. About $8 for 8oz ($1 per ounce), versus around $18 for 5oz ($3.6 per ounce).

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Miracle 7 Leave-In Hair Mist
jaqi16 10/6/2009 12:42:00 PM
I have been trying out a lot of leave-in conditioners lately searching for a good one (I will try to review them all). I wanted a leave-in because my hair has breakage (at the crown usually, or new growth, don't know, either way=flyaway madness) and frizz, and even though I just got it cut there are still some split ends. The consistency seems a little thicker than some leave-in sprays. It is more like a light lotion. Probably the thickest of the leave-ins that are made in a spray bottle. Because it doesn't mist like water (it still "mist" lotion though), here is the way I use it, after I towel dry my hair I flip my hair over my head and squirt it on my hair and scrunch my hair with my hands. Then I flip my head back over and comb through my hair....tangle free :) Here's what I want in a leave in conditioner, and here is how this product rates: 1. Detangles: EXCELLENT, works when hair is towel-dried and after hair is dry all day!!! 2. Creates shine: Better than most 3. Reduces Frizz: YES! I still have some fly-aways but no frizz 4. Adds softness: My hair is very soft and it is so silky. I love the way it feels 5. Mends split ends: The split ends seem less noticable 6. Adds some moisture: Yes! It doesn't feel dry and it so silky and soft, but not weighed down. 7. Static reducer: Not really 8. Good Smell: Yes, but I can't really smell it after it drys though. 9. Price: This was on sale for $10.99 for 5oz at Sally's (exclusively carried by them), which is pricey IF the product doesn't work, but with Sally's great return policy I figured I give it a shot. Plus this is the second Sally's I went to where the girls were all raving about it. They had recommended it to my mom too, who didn't wind up getting it because of the price, but I wanted to try it. Now I think she is a little jealous that she didn't pick some up too. This is probably my favorite leave-in so far (although I really like Umberto Beverly Hills from Target also, a little less $ for double the product). The only real difference between the two is with the Miracle 7 my hair feels silky, with the Umberto leave-in it feels super soft (both leave my hair with body).

Styling Products -Mane 'n Tail - Detangler
jaqi16 10/6/2009 12:28:00 PM
When I tried this I was using the whole Mane n' Tail line. Something was making my hair dry and straw-like (I think it was the proteins in the shampoo or something not this product). This works really well as a detangler, probably one of the best. I didn't really notice any conditioning effects with this product though, but like I said my hair was getting dried out from the other products. I need to try this again to review it for anything other than detangling, but yes it works very well for that!

Gels/Soaps -Johnson & Johnson - Deep Hydrating Intense Moisture Body Wash
jaqi16 10/5/2009 3:06:00 PM
I love this stuff! It's rich and creamy and still rinses clean (unlike Olay). It leaves my skin so soft and smooth. It is also easy to shave with. This is my new favorite body wash! I was using the softwash 24 hour moisture by Johnson & Johnson, but they recently changed the formula (see my review). This body wash reminds me of the original formula of the softwash. I will continue to buy this. I really like it!!! ♥ HG ♥

Lotions/ Creams -Johnson & Johnson - Melt Away Stress Soft Cream
jaqi16 10/5/2009 2:38:00 AM
This product is nice. It has a lavender smell to it. The cream is really nice too. It goes on so soft and smooth! It doesn't leave you greasy, sticky or waxy, it feels silky. It's nice to use before bed. I don't know that I would repurchase. I like the deep hydrating formula better. But this is definitely a good product.

Lotions/ Creams -Johnson & Johnson - Deep Hydrating Extra Dry Skin Lotion
jaqi16 10/5/2009 2:35:00 AM
I really like this lotion. It pumps out like a rich cream (from a locking pump bottle). It goes on so soft and smooth! It doesn't leave you greasy, sticky or waxy, it feels silky. The scent is lightweight, almost like a baby powder, but not cloying. My skin still feels soft and smooth many hours later. My skin can be very sensitive and this doesn't irritate my skin at all. It makes my skin soft instantly. I will repurchase when I run out. I am also going to try the matching body wash. This runs $4.00-$5.99 depending on where you shop. UPDATE: This makes my super sensitive legs break out. Too bad, I will be sticking to my HG: Aveeno Creamy Moisturizing Oil instead.
