Treatments -Garnier - Strength & Repair Melting Masque
jamiemp 6/27/2008 7:48:00 PM
Like all Garnier products, this is just okay. It didn't perform miracles, it didn't do damage, it was just a waste of time. Only costs about 3 bucks, though, so who cares.
Treatments -Loma - Pearatin Fortifying Repairative Serum
jamiemp 6/25/2008 12:19:00 AM
I'm really at a loss for why this doesn't work for me. I've actually purchased this twice. The first time, I happened to come across it (this was before I had even started reading reviews on this site), and tried it for a few days. It made absolutely no difference in my hair, and I gave it to my sister. A couple of months ago, I saw the stunning reviews here on MUA, and decided to give it another try. Again, NOTHING changed in my hair. It smells good, and isn't expensive, but I just don't understand the hype.
Sigh. I probably will shop here again and again, though I hate them. First, my boobs are too big for all their bras. Second, the undies are cute, but fall apart after a couple of washings. Most infuriating, the total idiocy at their packing warehouse. I have NEVER, not once, gotten a complete and correct order from the website. Just really dumb people handling orders, when you can actually find anything in-stock.
Scrubs -Softsoap - Moisturizing Body Wash Coconut Scrub
jamiemp 6/4/2008 11:12:00 PM
You'll all be annoyed with me if you buy this because of my 5 lippie review, expecting it to be a good scrub and smell like coconut. I hesitate to even categorize this as a "scrub," because it's not. Still, it's fabulous as a body wash. The scrubbers aren't useful as exfoliators, so I wouldn't rely on this as my only scrub for the week. Especially pre-sunless tanner. However, it's very moisturizing and lathers like no tomorrow, so I still like it. The smell-not coconut AT ALL to my nose, yet still smells awesome. Very sweet and tropical and I love it. The bottle's ginormous, which is great from a cost perspective, but awkward to handle with wet hands (especially if you have this particular wash on you, since it's slippery). All-in-all, I love it, though not because it's a good scrub or coconut scent. Ha! Sort of makes the name ridiculous. I found this at Target really cheap.
Styling Products -KMS California - Sea Salt Styling Spray
jamiemp 6/4/2008 12:03:00 AM
Well, both the reviews say this is discontinued, and they're from '06 and '07. I just bought this without any hassle online last week, so it's either back on shelves, or I lucked out with a website that still has some in stock. Anyway, I believe I've tried every salt spray that's ever existed. I WANT them to work! My hair looks awesome when I've been at the beach all day, lots of messy, sexy waves (my hair's very fine, but I have a ton of it, with a natural wave that tends toward curling when I really work at it). Most salt sprays just make my hair a horrible frizz-ball, which is a little less than the sexy look I want. This was no different when I first tried it (on wet hair with some other anti-frizz products). The other night I decided to use it on my dry hair after I'd had a pretty good hair day (I'd used some gel and anti-frizz cream), and it was SO good. My hair really looked like I'd been running around outside, all messy and sexy. The product itself smells great, and the spray bottle is convenient to use/hold and lets off a very fine mist. If this is, in fact, still available, I'll definitely buy again.
Skincare - Body -Sally Hansen - Airbrush Legs in Light Glow
jamiemp 6/2/2008 7:58:00 PM
Makes legs look flawless. I'm sorry, but for those who don't like how it worked when they "sprayed it on their legs," try reading the directions! It specifically states you should spray onto hands and smooth it onto your legs. Trust me, it works that way, and with very little mess.
Treatments -Oscar Blandi - Jasmine Smoothing Hair Treatment
jamiemp 6/1/2008 12:42:00 AM
Someone please slap me for buying this. I already know that I'm not a fan of Oscar Blandi products, yet I keep trying them again and again. I read the reviews and think that I'll find something great, considering how much everyone else loves them. I, however, think they're all overpriced and useless. This treatment did nothing for my hair. It wasn't worse, but it didn't look better. Considering the outrageous price, I'm a little peeved. I have other treatments I like a lot, so I just really regret buying this. It didn't stop frizz, or smooth my hair, AT ALL.
Apparently I'm a sweating freak, but this didn't work AT ALL for me. In fact, I'm convinced it made me sweat more than usual. It, literally, didn't stop me from sweating at all, and barely masked any odor. I haven't met a Secret deoderant yet that actually does what it claims. If you want to be dry and odor-free, try Avon's "Feelin' Fresh."
Conditioner -Jessicurl - Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment
jamiemp 5/31/2008 12:23:00 PM
I need to be clear-I'm giving this 5 lippies for the way I use it, but not as a deep conditioner. I admit that I'm not a fan of Jessicurl products. Every single one I've ever tried made my MORE frizzy and awful (and I'm pretty sure I've tried, literally, every product she sells). I like the website's tips for styling curls, I just don't like their haircare. Anyway, I had a little tub of this leftover from when I'd ordered travel sets from the website. I didn't think it did anything for my hair as a deep conditioner, and I have plenty of those in my stash that I love, so I tried this one night out of desperation. I ran a bit through my dry, styled hair as a leave-in, when my hair looked dry and blah. This soaked right in, without any greasiness at all. I was impressed, and tried it as a leave-in conditioner on my wet hair the next day. When I put some of this in my hair with a bit of gel, I get nice, smooth and shiny curls. I love it for that reason alone, and I also love the Island scent.
Treatments -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - MMPi Skin Regenerating Serum
jamiemp 5/29/2008 11:25:00 PM
There are not words to describe how much I LOVE this stuff. I even love the pink color, which I think is cool. I know this is totally overpriced, but I buy the GWP-size tubs from Ebay, and they last forever. I think this is perfect as a primer before foundation. In fact, it makes my skin look so smooth and clear, that I've been skipping everything but undereye concealer lately. I haven't had any problems with acne or irritation at all, though my skin isn't sensitive. I do hate the tub, but it won't stop me from purchasing this.
Moisturizers -Bobbi Brown - Vitamin Enriched Face Base
jamiemp 5/29/2008 11:20:00 PM
Love the smell, texture, effectiveness. Hate the heavy glass jar. I'd received some samples, and adored it. Then, I ordered online, and accidentally bought the hydrating face cream. Trust me, I noticed immediately that I had the wrong thing, since this cream is so awesome. LOVE it.
LOVE this. I'm a huge fan of No. 5, but haven't really found other Chanels that I like. This one, however, if sexy and lasts forever on me. I absolutely adore it (this is the edp, by the way, I haven't tried the edt or pure parfum).
I got a tiny little sample bottle of this from ebay, and I think it may be my new favorite. I actually don't get a ton of sweetness from it, it's more clean and crisp on my skin. Either way, I love it, and it's full bottle worthy, IMO. Plus, I think the bottle's adorable.
Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase Paste in Fair
jamiemp 5/25/2008 8:29:00 PM
Terrible packaging, great product. The color works for me, the coverage is excellent, it doesn't settle into my fine lines. I love it.
Cleansers -Shu Uemura - Cleansing Beauty Oil Balancer
jamiemp 5/25/2008 9:29:00 AM
Hopefully I picked the right product here...It seems to be listed under a couple of names on the reviews. Anyway, I know I'll start something saying this, but mineral oil is not the devil's own creation. I'm tired of the Arbonne-style fear tactics people throw around about the stuff. That being said, this oil is the most perfect one I've tried. DHC just didn't remove my makeup well, and Lavine made my eyes burn like crazy (AND didn't remove all my makeup). This is pleasant to my eyes, takes everything off, has a mild smell, and comes in a pump bottle. It also allows me to skip washing afterwards if I feel like it, because it's not greasy at all (I know, a non-greasy oil). Of course, I usually do wash afterwards, and that works too. I'm really starting to love Shu products.
