Lotions/ Creams -Kiss My Face - Honey & Calendula Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 3/19/2012 12:31:00 AM

I tested the Lavender on one hand thand the Honey & Calendula on the other. I selected Lavender. I shopped for about 30 minutes with the Lavender in my cart. I kept sniffing the back of the hand that had the H&C and it was lovely. Smells just like honey and you guessed it calendula. When I got the check out line, I rushed to the exchange the Lavender for the Honey & Calendula. Why? My hand was softer and the fragrance was so comforting. Also, of the two lotions, this one did not make my very dry skin itch. I took it home and used it on my body and my face. That was last night. This morning, my skin was still moisturized. Wow. I haven't been so pleased with a lotion in a long, long, time. The fragrance is not cloying and gets only better as it mixes with my body chemistry. I only wish it didn't have a pump. I prefer squeeze bottles. Will repurchase.

I love this. It's just like 100% cocoa butter stick but more moisturizing and much better packaging. I don't smell any plastic. It has a mild cocoa butter and sweet orange scent and taste. It softens and stays on my lips a long, long, time. It has become my favorite lip balm. Have repurchased and will continue to repurchase as long as it's available.

Fragrances -Cover Girl - Navy
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 3/10/2012 4:10:00 PM

I'm a girlie girl that loves her cosmetics and smelling great on a shoestring. This is why I sample all drug store offerings. On my skin Navy (now by Dana) smells exactly like Boucheron in a side by side comparison except that Navy smells a touch nicer.... for $3! It's long-lasting, dirt cheap and easy to find. It don't care for the ugly bottle, but the overall value of the product makes up for it. Will always repurchase.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Saucy Mauve
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 2/19/2012 4:05:00 PM

I may stray but I always return to L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick. I have been wearing this brand and formula since 1985. I love the texture and the fragrance. I always find the shade I am craving. I repurchased Saucy Mauve yesterday after trying mauves in other brands and being disappointed. This is a classic cool-toned shade of mauve that is easy to wear, brightens up my face and, gives my lips a natural fleshy flushed look. It applies evenly and wears beautifully for hours keeping my lips protected and moisturized. This is my HG mauve lipstick!

I may stray but I always return to L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick. I have been wearing this brand and formula since 1985. I love the texture and the fragrance. I always find the shade I am craving. I picked up Tickled Pink yesterday because I was craving something pink, shimmery, and playful from my usual nude lip. This is a great cool-toned shimmery pink that is easy to wear and brightens up my face. It applies evenly and wears beautifully for hours keeping my lips protected and moisturized. This is my new girly spring time pink!

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color
rated 3 of 5
Shadow_Witch 2/18/2012 6:24:00 PM

I read all the reviews prior to buying this. Most of the negative reviews were from nice people who clearly misunderstood what this product is. It is a semi-permanent. The result you obtain is your current color + the color you are applying = result. Result does not necessarily mean the picture on the box. I started out with over-processed bleached foils that had gone brassy and dull. My hair looked like and felt like straw with one inch of mousy brown regrowth at the roots. I wanted to color my hair back to my natural cool brown shade for some low-maintenance growing out. I purchased 6BB (Light Beige Brown) because the box stated that if you are undecided between two shades, choose the lighter one and because I wanted to neutralize the yellow brassiness. I read the instructions and was surprised that the directions were to apply to dry hair. Glad I read it, I would have assumed damp. The instructions stated to leave on an extra 5 minutes for total grey coverage. I left it on the extra 5 because some of my hair was really yellow. It wiped right off my skin and didn't stain it. I rinsed it off and applied the Royal Jelly conditioner... it had a bit of a strong scent but I didn't smell cat urine. My hair turned out perfectly tinted but not a cool brown like wanted. It turned out a bit muddy, especially on the ends, but I expect that with a semi and it will wash out in a few shampoos. My hair feels and looks much softer. Won't repurchase because I prefer Natural Instincts (semi not the permanent line) in Clove for a cool brown to cover up brassy blonde.

Polishes -Butter London - All Hail the Queen
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 2/12/2012 10:16:00 PM

I love the formula. I love the shade. It is a beautiful greige with a subtle shimmer that makes it look like liquid sand on my nails. Two coats are perfect. Dries quick and glossy. It's really expensive for me considering I normally don't spend more than $5 on nail polish. However, I think I may be a convert. The formula is great on application. No formaldehyde stench. I love their color offerings. Will definitely repurchase this shade if I run out and will definitely purchase other shades when I can get it on sale since $17 dollars it outrageously expensive for nail polish. The Butter London's I have purchased have all been purchased with gift cards and 'points'.

Fragrances -Avon - Soft Musk
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 2/11/2012 11:05:00 PM

WHY was this discontinued? I didn't even know it was discontinued until a year ago... I have always kept some inventory of this my second favorite Avon fragrance and second favorite musk. I ran out last year (my little girls and I share it) and wanted to reorder. It's GONE! Too bad. Avon used to sell a full range of body products and they were lovely. Avon Soft Musk, Alyssa Ashley Musk, Jovan Musk For Women are all pretty much the same type of musk. However, on my skin, Avon Soft Musk works the best magic. I'm so sad it's gone. :( UPDATE: October 2012 - Avon brought it back for Christmas in 50mL star splash decanters. The best part, this formulation is even better than the last atomizer I finished from a couple years ago. Happy!

Fragrances -Yves Saint Laurent - Opium
rated 1 of 5
Shadow_Witch 1/19/2012 12:55:00 PM

I have been craving Opium for a long time. I have memories of a rich, warm, almost creamy spicy, intoxicating skin scent my older cousins used to wear and hand down their nearly empty bottles to me!.... I wished I had read the reviews before going out and buying a bottle before Christmas.... I don't even recognize it anymore. The YSL Opium I purchased is scratchy, powdery and cloying. It also seems baseless. I have an opium fragrance oil from an occult shop that is closer to the original YSL Opium than this current version is. The current version resembles Avon Imari (modeled after the original YSL Opium) than it does the original. I am aware that reformulation of perfume like death and taxes, is a certainty, however, when they tamper with the basic elements and 'feel' of a fragrance, that is where I draw the line. If you know YSL Opium well from the 1970s and 80s do NOT purchase current product untested.

Clean. Classic. Smoky. Vetiver. Not as soapy or loud as Guerlain. Just right. The perfect companion to Violet Blonde.

Fragrances -Tom Ford - Violet Blonde
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 1/15/2012 4:03:00 PM

This is beautiful. Reminds me of Malle's Lipstick Rose and Chanel No.5. No.5 with violet. Classic, evocative, and a very femme. I sprayed it on my skin, and every time I sniffed this beauty, I imagined platinum hair in big waves, red lipstick, mink, and 4 inch stilettos. I used to dress this way in the 80s. Back then this would have been a no-brainer signature. The perfect companion to Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver. Like Gable and Lombard or Bogey and Bacall. :)

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - L'Imperatrice Eau de Toilette
rated 1 of 5
Shadow_Witch 12/26/2011 1:14:00 AM

I tested this fragrance not having read anything about it. It was not what I expected nor, it's name implied. 3 L'Imperatrice is The Empress, the third card in the Tarot Major Arcana symbolizing abundance, earth mother, fertility, you get my drift. I wasn't expecting it to be thin and fruity. I expected something lush. I have yet to find a D&G fragrance I like. Too bad because I really love the bottle and as an avid Tarot reader and deck collector, I really want to find one that works for me in this series.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Jennifer Aniston
rated 1 of 5
Shadow_Witch 12/23/2011 8:40:00 PM

This fragrance takes me back to my childhood. It is a common 'beachy' jasmine not unlike Coty Sand & Sable, Tatiana, numerous other fragrances and lotions that were popular in the 70s and 80s. There's nothing new here and, it's way too expensive for what it is. Especially since it has zero longevity.
