Foundations -Maybelline - New Instant Age Rewind
ProductJunkey 11/21/2011 4:14:00 AM
I've purchased this in the corrector (yellow), the brightener (pink) and the light shade. I really like this- it's a light to medium coverage, without being heavy. It blends like a dream. I have been using the light shade on my face- around nose and on cheeks where I have redness, and it works great. After using it for about a month and a half I noticed I was getting some breakouts. I think the sponge applicator may have contributed to it. I only apply it to clean skin, but the sponge stays damp, and after awhile it becomes saturated and may harbor bacteria and it's just rather gross. So, what I did was pull the sponge off. You may want to do this after using it for awhile. I just apply it with my finger, now.

Treatments -Lancome - genefique
ProductJunkey 11/15/2011 4:35:00 AM
I got a deluxe sample of this as a Sephora perk. When I first got it, I really liked it. My skin was glowing and just looked in better condition, overall. After using it nightly for about two weeks, my skin went bonkers and I developed two big cystic pimples- ( I never have had these before). This was the only thing I had added to my skin care that was different- so I'm thinking it was from that. I stopped using it and the acne went away. I may try using it again, after reading here I see that there may be some type of purging going on.

Treatments -Ion - Overnight Treatment
ProductJunkey 11/8/2011 2:33:00 AM
Love this! I have tried many overnight treatments, and for the price, this is by far the best one! :-) Nexxus & LaCoupe= both were waxy, made my hair stick together, got hard- then did nothing when I washed it out the next morning. Altera Overnight= Wasn't waxy, just didn't feel like it was nourishing my hair. Pretty much a no result product. Frederic Fekkai PM= Love this one! Soft, silky hair! The scent is to die for-(coconut)- but..... it's $60.00. :-( This is the best one at a very affordable price. It is silky when you apply it and your hair does feel like it's getting some benefit from this product. The cashier at Sally's commented that she loves this, too and also uses it during the day as a styling product, which you could do as well, since it isn't heavy. My hair hasn't done a complete transformation, but this does help with making it soft and helping to heal any damage you've done. You may as well give yourself a bit of a beauty treatment while you're sleeping, right? :-)

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous False Fiber Lashes~Waterproof
ProductJunkey 10/14/2011 4:35:00 AM
I really like this mascara. I'm taking off a lippie because it's not a mascara you can just throw on in a hurry, you really have to work with it. But if you do, it gives you some pretty nice lashes. It's also handy to have a metal lash comb when using this. Sometimes the lashes will goop up together at the root, so using the comb solves that. I always use waterproof formulas. I know they can differ quite a bit from the washable, non-waterproof formula. I think waterproof holds the curl and tends to dry faster and smudge less. This mascara does smudge a bit when it's wet. I've found that lengthening mascaras seem to look spidery a lot of the time- this one does not. The best way to use this is to take the end of the wand and coat each lash, then put it at the base- wiggle, then coat with the end of the wand again. I have to do this several times, so it's time- consuming, but I get really long, natural, non spidery looking lashes. I've already purchased a back up of this. I've been using it for about a week, so I'm hoping it gets better once it dries out a little. Mine cost a little over $9.00 at CVS.

Hair Removal -Olay - Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo
ProductJunkey 10/6/2011 9:10:00 AM
I thought this product was "okay". It won't remove thicker hairs, but it works well on fine hair. I used this on my upper lip and jawline area. I still had to go and tweeze a few hairs that it left behind. My skin felt so smooth after using this. The negative was that even though it didn't irritate my skin or leave it red, it had that "new skin" feeling that was very sensitive, that lasted about a day. I had that feeling that anything I put on that area would burn. I do think it is expensive, for the small amount you get- it's a small tube. You could probably get Nair for the face and get the same effect. It does come with a tube of a lipbalm sort of substance-that is supposed to protect the skin. I didn't think this really worked. I think that may me a bit gimmicky.

Liquid -Revlon - Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup
ProductJunkey 9/28/2011 11:15:00 PM
I think Revlon has taken the Photo Ready foundation, and put it in this package! This has glitter in it! It did not last all day, plus has minimal coverage for me. I have combo skin, so it would work better on someone who had dry/normal complexions. I did like the pump. Wish Colorstay came with a pump. I gave this to my Mom and she seems to like it.

I returned mine. Not pigmented enough and just a blah color. Save your money and get a Wet & Wild pallette.

Lotions/ Creams -Nuance by Salma Hayek - Dark Cacao & Coffee Firming Body Cream
ProductJunkey 9/25/2011 4:05:00 AM
I found a sample packette of this on a display, so I grabbed one. So far, all the Nuance products I have tried have either been mediocre or a disappointment. They are on the higher priced side for a drugstore brand, so I was under the impression that they would be great. This is ok for a lotion, however the scent is a huge turn-off. Some may like it, but I don't see the appeal of smelling like a cup of coffee. Maybe if it were more chocolate, but it's not.

Powder -Tarte - Smooth Operator Micronized Clay Finishing Powder
ProductJunkey 9/22/2011 10:37:00 PM
I got a small sized sample of this in the kit from Sephora back in the winter. I put it away, and then decided it would be good to take on vacation since the container is small. Even though I enjoyed the look and feel of this powder, it gave me a ghost like appearance in flash photos. After realizing this, I stopped using it for the rest of my trip. Just beware if you plan on getting your photo taken.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professionnel Platinum Air Brush #55
ProductJunkey 9/17/2011 11:05:00 PM
I've had two of these brushes- I loved it for liquid foundation. I had heard about it from Lisasz09 on youtube, about 2 years ago. Well the first brush I had I returned, due to the handle cracking the protective coating and the wood was showing through. I took it back to Sepora and they gave me a replacement- on the spot- I didn't even have my receipt. That was nice. Well, I started using other brushes for my foundation, so the Sephora one, sat unused. Well, I just started using it again, and I washed it today and noticed the protective coating was cracking again, and what's worse, is the top popped right off the handle. Grrr. I barely used this brush! I think I will take it back again, and hopefully I can get a store credit. Very bad quality for the price you pay for this brush!

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Stippling Brush
ProductJunkey 9/17/2011 10:56:00 PM
I love this brush, and I reach for it daily. I have stopped using my Sigma F-80 since I got this brush. The bristles have more "give" than than Sigma, so it's nicer to buff. I stipple first and then buff. I like that it's small, so you can get into areas like around your nose and eyelids. I have purchased 3 Real techniques brushes so far and I love them all. I also have the Powder brush and the Blush brush. It's easy to clean, too and dries pretty fast.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - EyeStudio Color Explosion Eyeshadow in Caffeine Rush
ProductJunkey 8/10/2011 4:28:00 AM
I have tried Maybelline eye shadows in the past, and was disappointed in the pigmentation, so I never purchased again...even though I love a lot of their other products, the eye shadows were a complete fail for me. After seeing this palette, I really thought the colors were pretty, but thought they would either be chalky or too glittery and chunky. I purchased it at CVS, with coupons and on sale it was only $5.00. Wow--- I was pleasantly surprised! The shadows are silky and have the most beautiful sheen- without being over the top with the glitter. There is a color at the top that is pure glitter, but I just don't use that one. The shade that I absolutely love is the sandy/bronze color on the left side of the palette- it just makes you eyes come alive! This looks so pretty on green eyes. It's the shade I've always wanted but never found. The white color on the brow and the sand/bronze all over the lid is my favorite way of using this-- the darker browns are good in the crease- for a night time look. I'm taking off a lippie because it fades after 6 hours or so- the color is still there..but the "sheen" fades on me. I use primer and don't have oily lids, but most shades with a frost or sheen don't stay true the whole day. I plan on buying a back up- however they are very hard to find in the stores...I'm lucky to have found the one I did!

Mascara -Maybelline - The Falsies Flared Waterproof
ProductJunkey 7/10/2011 7:05:00 AM
I purchased this at Bed, Bath & Beyond for only $4.99- so get it there, plus use a 20% coupon that always come in the mail-(expired or not) to get an even better deal. I like Maybelline mascaras- I would say they are #1, L'oreal #2 in my book, as far as drugstore mascaras go. I had bought the original Falsies, and it was just ok- I just never seem to grab for it. After seeing this new one, I was intrigued. Then I read the reviews, here and wanted to try it. Wow- I don't know if it's the brush, or the formula, but it really flares out the outer corners of your lashes! I love this look--- My left eye, just never flares out on the end, but this really helps those lashes stand out. The brush has bristles that are dense and packed together very closely, it also has a spoon shaped wand like the original, and the wand is very bendable. Whenever Maybelline makes a mascara I love-- (Lash Stylist & Pulse Perfection- I love both in waterproof) they discontinue it! I hope this one sticks around!

Conditioner -Pureology - Hydrate Light
ProductJunkey 6/26/2011 3:23:00 AM
I love the original, which I tried a few years back- however, sometimes that cooling, minty sensation is just too much. I purchased the small trial size bottle of this at the JC Penney salon, and I like this one much better, plus it seemed to soften my hair much better than the original. I will stick to this one. I hated the pink one for body- just didn't do anything- waste of money.

Masks -DDF - Sulfur Therapeutic Mask [DISCONTINUED]
ProductJunkey 6/20/2011 3:18:00 AM
I purchased this at Ulta about a month ago. They were giving back $10.00 in Ulta cash at the time, with the purchase of this, so I thought I'd try it. My skin has been very tempermental lately, with acne, under the skin bumpiness, uneveness, dullness and just "blah"- which I think are linked to hormone issues. I have heard good things about this mask. After one use I noticed a nice difference! My skin is oily in the T-zone area, and this mask helped with that, however it really helped zap those bumps that I've had for weeks- I've used it weekly and my skin is close to being back to normal, now. This mask is worth the money! I'm going to try leaving it on for three hours as other have posted. Thanks! I wanted to add that I fell asleep while I had this on - I had be meaning to wash it off, but laying on the bed watching TV... I don't think I would intentionally go to sleep with this on- it does feel a bit tight and uncomfortable. Well- once I washed it off a few small whiteheads(the bumps that persist for weeks-) I had my temples and cheek had vanished!!! Wow- that's really saying a lot about this mask. No product I've ever used erased a zit overnight.
