Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle
rated 4 of 5

NC25 & this is my HG. Out of my many lipsticks this is the one I can always count on and the one I grab the most. Someone mentioned it resembles EL's Rose Tea lipstick which is a favorite of mine so I knew there was a reason this shade stood out to me the most and has become a favorite as well. Its quick and easy to apply & makes me look put together even on my rough days when all I can do is swipe on lipstick and run out the door. I adore this formula and shade & hope they keep it around a loooong long long time.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Nude Matte
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 6/10/2012 10:28:00 PM

NC25 here. I picked up my first & probably only NYX eye shadow shade in Skinny Dip which looks like that picture posted. Sort of a brown-ish maroon?? Anyway I wasnt impressed. I thought this was a matte eye shadow as stated on the packaging but it definitely has some shimmer. I used it as an accent color along with other shades from my TF Summer Eye palette. It looks similar to many other eye shadows I already had so I wasnt wowed by this like I was hoping to be.

Palettes -Too Faced - Summer Eye
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 6/10/2012 12:24:00 PM

NC25 here. I made my rare trip to Ulta & ultimately chose this palette out of the bazillion choices Ulta has. Ive used TF numerous times during my 20s & have several HGs from them so I thought they could do no wrong. (Maybe its also my tastes changing as I enter my mid 30s as well.) I was soooo disappointed with the quality of most of the eye shadow colors. The "Day" look has a frosty pink called "Sugar Sand" which is very similar in texture & pigmentation to my MAC Pink Freeze. The mid color is "Plumeria" which is a mid tone pink with slight shimmers also similar to a MAC pink I have that I cant think of at the moment. The accent color is "Cocoa Beach" which is a chocolate with beige shimmers. This top collection of colors are gorgeous and do not disappoint BUT as for the rest...ugh. The middle collection of colors for the "Classic" look are "Peach Fuzz" which is indeed a light warm peachy shade but goes on almost invisible leaving only glitter and more glitter. The glitter is a similar shade of the eye shadow color. It gets everywhere & is annoying. I have countless other dupes of this. "Coral crush", the mid tone color, is a pretty orange coral similar to MAC Paradisco but with gold glitter. Yes the glitter gets everywhere too. "Chocolate Sun", the accent, is a dark chocolate with beige glitter. The whole middle collection of colors is just one big glitter bomb. I use to not mind all that glitter before but now its just messy and annoying. The "Fashion" collection of colors at the bottom. Again....just disappointing. The highlight shade "Sunbeam" is so incredibly sheer that all it does is deposit large amount of small gold glitter everywhere (and is pretty much the same deal as Peach Fuzz in the Classic look). I am pale & this shade didnt even show up on me. Just the glitter. "Mermaid" the mid tone color is a gorgeous deep turquoise shimmer in the palette but once applied turns grey and drab. "Toasted Coconut", the accent, is a lovely brown with barely a hint of shimmer so I cant say its matte but close to it. (UDPP, paints & MK eye shadow bases cannot control the glitter fall out in this palette btw) Out of the 9 shades only 4 were decent which is not enough of a reason to shell out even the mere $36 for this palette ever again. If you love glitter then this is for you. If you are like me and get annoyed at glitter bomb overkill eye colors then steer clear of this. There are much better dupes/alternatives out there that are easy to find.

Cleansers -Boots - No7 Quick Thinking 4 in 1 Wipes - All Skin Types
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 6/4/2012 8:14:00 AM

I grabbed this up at Ulta because I always need makeup remover wipes. I havent tried this brand before & the packaging caught my eye. I was pleased to see the formula quickly took off my waterproof mascara whereas other brands took a long long time to get it to melt off or didnt take it off at all. I have dry skin & this formula claims to leave my skin toned and moisturized. It did feel toned but as for moisture I could definitely use my own moisturizer on top but if I needed to just use this and go it wouldnt kill my skin. It still feels a touch dry & taught after but not so so bad that its uncomfortable. Over all these wipes are impressive and I will more than likely buy them again despite their $6.99 price tag.

Polishes -Sinful - Dream On
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 6/3/2012 3:57:00 PM

In the bottle Dream On looks like an extra vivid glowing fuschia. On my nails it dries to a streaky, matte mess. It dries very very quickly so you have to work fast to get the color evenly applied or it will pull. I end up just blobbing it on my nail and smearing it around to get an even coat but that means extra clean up work with a qtip & its still not perfect. This is a hard polish to work with. I topped it off with a mattify top coat to even out the lumps and bumps so it looks halfway decent now but it sure was a pain to get it this way.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear - Pacific Blue
rated 5 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 6/3/2012 10:15:00 AM

I love this shade of blue so much that I went and got another the very same day. The formula is thick but easy to apply. It applies opaque & neatly in just one coat. I apply a second coat just because but it didnt need it. I am really rough with my fingers so it did have significant tip wear the next day. I apply only one coat of SV though. Even though, the color is so beautiful...and I cant stop staring at my nails when I wear it. I will buy a few back ups of this shade but I hope they never discontinue it. Its my favorite blue in my entire collection. I have at least 20 other blues if not more.

Blush -NYX - Peach
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 6/2/2012 11:45:00 AM

I was at Ulta a few days ago and the NYX section was so wiped out of many products. There was only 2 left of "PEACH" blush. One was a believable peach shade but the other was clearly a more rose toned color. Mislabeled??? Anyway NYX seems to have a bit of a quality control problem. I ended up getting the one that was more peachy colored. It isnt heavily pigmented and went on pretty natural looking (NC25 here). I do like that it barely has any shimmer or sparkle. I would get it again but I wonder if I will find the same shade that I did or if it will be that rosy colored one. :-/

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - I Need a Refresh-Mint
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 6/1/2012 8:48:00 AM

NC25 here. This is a fun cheery blue that I received many compliments on. Even my mother who likes only natural shades liked it on me! My sister thinks it looks like a robins eggs blue but I see how it looks like my Tiffany jewelry boxes. I am not crazy about the wide brush which is why I gave it a 4 but other than that this formula is perfection. I was able to do 2 coats to give me a smooth even application then I topped it with SV. I did experience tip wear a few days into my manicure but I have 2 small toddlers I chase around all day plus dishes so to me thats pretty impressive. I have a decent collection of polishes and this cheap little find is by far my favorite so far. Im grabbing a couple of backups!

Cleansers -St. Ives - Olive Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/30/2012 10:22:00 PM

I have dry skin that can be sensitive at times. This cleanser left my skin feelings stripped of any and all moisture that I had. My face was so tight that it crinkled when opened my mouth. There is definitely too much lather in this cleanser to be considered moisturizing. I did get it for $2 at Big Lots so I wont bash it too much. What can I expect for a $2 cleanser. The smell also gave me an instant headache. It stinks of old sweet smelling dish rag. It also lingered after awhile. I massaged my moisturizer on and that helped tone the scent down considerably but its still there. Dry skin people steer clear of this!

Lips -E.L.F. - Luscious Liquid Lipstick - Perfect Pink
rated 1 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/24/2012 12:02:00 PM

UPDATE: YAY for those who dont have issues with the packaging. I never did until this shade. The rating is what it deserves packaging or not because even my 2nd tube made it into the trash. AND I am not one to throw anything away. Its that bad. :P ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I am a BIG fan of ELFs liquid lipsticks BECAUSE they are tasteless/scentless and the colors are absolutely stunning on me. NC25. So far I have only tried Pink Lemonade, Baby Lips, Mocha & Cherry Tart with Cherry Tart being my #1 favorite. So while at Target I snapped up 2 of a shade I havent tried before but I was so confident I would like it because the other 4 did me no wrong. WELL I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off I opened the package and began twisting the bottom to dispense the gloss and it immediately fell apart in my hands...I tinkered with it to save it and then the top popped off and now I cant put it back together. In the trash it went. So I go to open the other tube I got and I twisted this one much much more carefully just in case the same thing would happen. OK so I get past that part and it did try to come apart again but somehow didnt but I can foresee it happening before I use it up.....I apply the pink and BAM I am hit with a disgusting sweet taste that seeped into my mouth. !@#$%^&*() (The other 4 shades I have used do not have a sweet taste to them..just a minty feel) I absolutely LOATHE taste on any of my lip products. PERIOD. The color was just OK. It can be opaque depending on how thick you layer it on. I cant get past the sweet taste though so thats not happening. OK this was $2 down the drain but Im poor so I am super bummed that i could have had 2 other shades I knew would work. AND SO BIZARRE about the tube falling apart....the other tubes I ever had have never been this flimsy. SAD ELF. JUST SAD. I hate how this brand is so hit & miss.

Treatments -Sinful - Anti-Bite Nail Growth treatment
rated 2 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/23/2012 9:23:00 AM

I was looking for a cheapie basecoat while at wags. I came across the SInful display and this was pretty much the only bottle left of the 3 choices of treatments/base boats they had to offer. This is most definitelty a treatment and NOT A BASE COAT. Why? I swiped one coat of this on my nail beds then applied my polish of the day plys SV top coat....that very same day my polish peeled off in whole sheets like a sticker. So I thought possibly it could be my new SH nail polish but I had a sneaky feeling it was this. So to test it out I did my pedicure with tried and true polishes I have used before and once again applied this treatment as a basecoat. It did last for 3 days (which for my toes is BAD because my pedicures last for a solid 3 weeks before it starts to wear!!!) before my polish starting peeling off in whole sheets once again. IT IS THIS ANTI-BITE NAIL GROWTH TREATMENT. Sadly I found out the hard way that this formula is most certainly not a basecoat. As for the anti-bite feature....what it does is it leaves a horrible chemical on your fingers that lingers even after washing my hands several times. So basically it puts a bad taste in your mouth. 0_o I am not one to bite my nails but I admit that I would lick my fingers while cooking and such and also where I do wash my hands often. I cant say much for the growth part of the treatment because my nails grow in fast, strong and healthy. This nail treatment is not for me but for the right people I can see how this could possibly work. $3.99 at wags. (The bottle i got also had a big crack in the bottle neck area where the brush twists onto so that bit added a little bit of insult to injury imo. It didnt affect the product but of course no one wants to buy a cracked bottle of anything)

Eyeliner -Smashbox - limitless eyeliner
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/22/2012 3:56:00 PM

This eye liner came in my Sephora best of the best package. Its formula tugs at my eye & isnt creamy whatsoever. It felt like a cheap formula. WnW makes a softer .99 pencil than this garbage. There are so so so many other eye liners out there that will beat this any day. Disappointing.

Lips -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart
rated 4 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/21/2012 10:00:00 PM

I gave in to the hype of these and purchased this shade as well as Pink Truffle. The is a nice hot pinky bubble gum shade on me NC25. Love that there isnt scent or taste which makes them ultimate winners in my book. It is slippery like a balm but disguised as a lipstick. It reminds me very much of L'Oreal Color Juice Sticks from a few years ago that I adored and of course are sadly discontinued. Same texture but these are a tiny bit better because of the no scent quality that the L'Oreal version lacked. (It was scented heavily of some kind of raspberry candy something which was actually alright but I just prefer no scent at all). I also have some Maybelline Color Sensational shades that are also very similar in texture but are scented of some orange creamsicle. Again these are better. I do prefer the more muted Pink Truffle over this shade because I can wear PT more on a daily basis than this. BUT it is still nice to have the bright pop of lipcolor to the mix.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Spoiled - Designated Driver
rated 3 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/16/2012 11:42:00 PM

This is a really fun nail polish! It is a yellow cream with a slight tinge of orange to it. A very unique shade and different from the other yellows I already have. I wore this color with Jewelry Heist glitter over it. Yellow isnt my favorite shade on my skin tone NC25 because it makes me look kind of sickly but when I give it more pizzazz with the glitter over top then it works out fine. It was opaque in 2 coats which is always preferable. The wide awkward brush took a minute to get use to but it was totally fine. (similar shape to SH complete manicure polish brush) The brush hairs are a bit stiff and leave brush marks but once I applied topcoat you couldnt see it. $1.99 @ CVS

Gels/Soaps -Olay - purely pristine body bar with massaging design
rated 2 of 5
IslandGirlSPN 5/16/2012 4:32:00 PM

The bar box states "with mineral crystals and seaweed extract" although I am not sure why having these particular ingredients in a soap bar is beneficial??? The bar soap is pretty. It has these chunks of clear blue pieces (the mineral crystals I am sure) randomly distributed thru the rest of the light blue soap. the bar is extra extra perfumey...like fabric softener sheets strong. As a matter of fact it smells like fabric softener. It is too perfumey for me. The bar melts away much too fast but I am guessing it is because it is chock full of moisturizers. It does a great job of not leaving the skin tight feeling after a shower but while the bar soap sits in the shower it just tends to melt away quick even when not in use. I did get two packs for half off at wags so I wont complain too much but perhaps next time I will get regular bottled body wash rather than this soap since this is wanting to turn into one so badly. this pretty much sucks as a bar soap.
