Fragrances -mark - Vanilla Cream
rated 3 of 5
tessture 12/21/2012 11:36:00 AM

Listed notes: Frothed milk, cocoa cream, vanilla orchid, vanilla crystals, ginger lily, white amber, skin musk. On, it's a sweet perfume-y vanilla, nicely creamy, but too perfumed to be a true vanilla. Vanilla Fields is of this ilk, a vanilla-based perfume, but with other notes to fancy it up. Pure vanilla lovers probably won't like this, but those who like more floral, complex perfumes with a strongly marked vanilla signature should try it out.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Sonoma Scent Studio - Forest Walk
rated 3 of 5
tessture 12/21/2012 11:33:00 AM

Green forest floor, cool green leaves and wood notes. Smells like loam, with that fresh dirt/green tree mildew notes implied. Interesting, but probably not as a perfume as much as a great evocative sachet. I love the forest and the way it smells, but loam is not an as attractive a scent on skin as it is in outdoors. I wouldn't wear it out of my house, but I might wear it inside, when I needed to walk in a forest and couldn't get out to do so.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Zeta by Tauer Perfumes

Wow, maybe my sample was off? I didn't enjoy this nearly as much as the previous reviewers. First on, I got oily waxy orange blossoms and white, lush linden blossom with a powdery neroli underneath. (this is the 'linden blossom' note common in perfumery, though I don't know if that's true to a real linden blossom or not.) Overall it seems very vintage while still being fresh and sweet. Strangely lovely and ageless. This was the first try, and I would've agreed with the other reviewers. Upon a second try, I found I hated it. The vintage lovely was gone, replaced by an unscrubbable, cloying oily orange blossom and some sticky, thick, murky note, probably the mysore and vanilla in fatal combination. Argh. Just couldn't get if off fast enough and in the end couldn't actually get it off at all. The layering of notes cluttered up what had before struck me as clear and lovely. Not sure if this was a weather thing, a chemical reaction or what, but the second round was dreadful. Just too much going on, nothing agreeing and that thick, nasty sandal/vanilla just ruined the pretty notes completely and buried them in mediocrity. Disappointing overall.

Fragrances -Parfums d'Orsay - Tilleul
rated 5 of 5

Having never smelled real Linden blossom, I can't comment on the running debate on whether this duplicates its name sake or not. What I do know, is that it's very very pretty. The scent is of a lovely honey hay, with crisp green leafy notes, drying down light, green and lilting. It's spring in a bottle and very wearable. Thumbs up

Fragrances -Prada - Candy EDP
rated 4 of 5
tessture 12/21/2012 11:20:00 AM

A light pinkish sweet fragrance with incense notes. This has an added powdery edge that I like and my husband dislikes. Sweet, powdery candy with a touch of floral impression, probably from the synthetic musk and powder notes. I rather love it, but we'll see if I end up getting it depending on how much my man really hates it...

Lipstick -Unlisted Brand - NYC Lip stain
rated 1 of 5

NYC Smooch Proof 16Hr Lip Stain. Hmmmm. Well, it lasted one hour, then vanished. As in completely utterly gone. So much for endless. On the nitpick side, it tastes okay, flavor doesn't linger and the color (495 Endless Spice) was pleasant and covered easily and consistently. But with longevity15 hours short of advertised, it's going back to the store and saving my $5.

Lipstick -Unlisted Brand - NYC SmoochProofLong lasting lip color

This was the smooch proof Long lasting lip color that comes in the double ended tube. Color on one end with a sponge applicator and gloss on the other with a brush. It went on fine and lasted a few hours as advertised, but after that, it clumped up into the lines and looked absolutely dreadful. So epic fail. Even at this cheap price, don't waste your money on this one. I tried the 481 Dreamer, a rosy pink frost.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Smoothness Hydrating Lip Care
rated 2 of 5
tessture 12/19/2012 11:59:00 AM

I hate to disagree but must in this case. This did nothing at all for me in the way of hydrating. It just vanished so fast and didn't add moisture or seal any in. Just useless. On the up side, it didn't taste funny or feel sticky either. A nice smooth application, weightless feel, but by the same token doing nothing useful. Eh. Not worth the money.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Wiggle Perfume - Buxom

Listed notes: Bourbon Vanilla, English rose, red musk, powder On my skin: Faintly powdered, honeyed rose. Delicious tart edge to the rose like rose hips. While very powdery, it never approaches the dreaded baby talcum stage and stays sweetly floral. I never thought something like this would work for me, but it's lovely. Uplifting moodwise, too, so worth a sample for rose lovers or lovers of the Victorian. Great blend.

Almost exclusively lily and jasmine on me, without, thankfully, the indole. Still, it's a big white floral and that's not my thing at all. If it's your thing, this is very pretty and wearable.

Listed notes: Fresh Greens, Cassis, White Iris, and Bronzed Musk On me: light green edge on slightly powdery iris with warm musk base. Sheer, slightly synthetic, but lovely and crisp. Might be great in summer. Simple, light, easy to wear, but I didn't do cartwheels over it.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Starring! Fragrances

I'm afraid I have to agree with Leah2412. My first order from this company I ordered, among other things, a full bottle of a fragrance I'd tried in sample. It didn't remotely smell the same when I received it and I emailed to explain my situation. It took forever for them to respond and I had to harass them to get any response at all. That being said, they sent me a remix of the oil without charge. It still didn't smell like the sample, but I do know base oils can change, so I let it go. Still, most of the oils I've tried from them (and I've tried a bunch) are super sweet and foody. They don't seem to do anything that isn't a sweet gourmand. If this is your idea of a perfect perfume, then you'll have a blast with their fun site, great clear descriptions and friendly atmosphere. If foody isn't your thing, you're bound to disappointment. Prices are great, packaging better than your average etsy. You get what you pay for, certainly.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Sonoma Scent Studio - Incense Pure
rated 4 of 5
tessture 11/18/2012 3:36:00 PM

This reminds me of a favorite wood-chip incense with an added sweet note like honey. It lacks the sharp and vicious notes of the CDG incense series, but is still true to compressed wood incense. Lovely. Doesn't in fact smell like a Catholic church, but is still beautiful.

Fragrances -Santa Maria Novella - Musk ("Muschio")
rated 3 of 5
tessture 11/18/2012 3:33:00 PM

Herbal notes, watery florals and powdery clean musk that remind me of a dog shampoo we had years ago to wash the mutt. Muschio isn't actually bad, though. As it dries it becomes a lot like Bruno Acampora Musc, in it's warm, bare skin feeling, but more powdery and a touch soapy . Strangely nice while being nothing I'd choose to wear.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Smell Bent Tibet Ur Bottom $

tessture 11/18/2012 3:30:00 PM

Fantastic incense without the harsh notes I don't like in other incense blends. Nicely wood-powder incense that seems to be mainly Alder and cedar incense (not to be confused with those notes as oils). Faintly smoky, just lovely. Woody incense that is wearable and unisex.
