Lipstick -Clarins - Joli Rouge Brillant - Pink Magnolia
rated 4 of 5
tabloid 7/6/2012 9:31:00 AM

I bought this in Monreal, where the packaging is from France, and I am guessing that the 'brillant' in the name is what is known as 'perfect shine' in the States. This is a beautiful soft pink, very glossy and semi-sheer. It feels wonderful on the lips, very moisturizing. It was part of Clarins' Spring 2012 collection, although I have no idea whether it is LE. The only reason I took off one lippie is because the staying power is not very good - I have to reapply it often - but then again, I suppose this is to be expected from a lipstick that the company's website describes as 'lip gloss in a tube'.

Mascara -Almay - Intense-I-Color Chocolate Quartz for Green Eyes
rated 2 of 5
tabloid 6/28/2012 2:58:00 PM

I bought this mascara hoping that it would bring out the green tones in my hazel eyes, and while the color is good, the mascara does nothing for my lashes - doesn't lengthen or volumize them. Perhaps, as the preivous reviewer noted, the fault lies with the brush? On a positive note, there is no flaking or smudging, not even after hours of wear.

Polishes -OPI - Pedal Faster Suzi!
rated 4 of 5
tabloid 6/17/2012 5:26:00 PM

This is definitely a girly-girl color - light pink with subtle silver shimmer. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I don't think it looks too Barbie Doll - when I think of Barbie, I think of a brighter, stronger pink like Strawberry Margarita (also by OPI). It's not everyone's cup of tea, of course, but if you like a pretty, feminine, romantic look, this is certainly worth a try.

Shampoo -John Frieda - Anytime Volume Refresher
rated 5 of 5
tabloid 5/23/2012 8:30:00 PM

This is a terrific dry shampoo - it absorbs all of the oil at my roots and leaves my hair looking, feeling and smelling clean. Although the can is small - about half the size of most other dry shampoo cans - I actually feel that this is a plus, since I can carry it around more easily. It's really fantastic for travelling.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Miracle Skin Transformer SPF20
rated 4 of 5
tabloid 5/17/2012 8:24:00 AM

I'm surprised at the negative reviews here. I recently got this as a sample and I'm very pleased with it: it gives my oily-combination skin a smooth, matte texture that lasts into the afternoon. I love the SPF 20 sun protection. My only complaint is that it doesn't even out my skin tone as well as foundation would, but then I guess that would be too much to ask of a product which is really a tinted moisturizer.

Polishes -OPI - So Many Clowns...So Little Time
rated 5 of 5
tabloid 5/15/2012 1:15:00 PM

I love this - a soft, milky off-white. It's somewhere between a sheer and a semi-sheer, and gives my hands a suble, elegant look. Best of all, the application is a dream. I've had problems with some other sheer or semi-sheer polishes which go on streaky or patchy, but this one goes on smoothly and evenly. A winner.

Polishes -OPI - Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?
rated 2 of 5
tabloid 5/9/2012 4:03:00 PM

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I don't really like this color. I wasn't sure about it when I saw the bottle, but there have been other OPI polishes which look so-so in the bottle but have turned out to be gorgeous once they're applied (for instance, Tickle My France-y and Meet Me on the Star Ferry). This looks like a paint chip for a cool, light taupe color you'd paint an office wall with, and I just don't find it flattering at all.

What a beautiful color - a light, clear red with an orange undertone. It's the perfect red for summer.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Make Me Blush
rated 5 of 5
tabloid 5/2/2012 7:42:00 AM

I bought this on impulse when I came upon it in the drugstore in the display L'Oreal's Summer 2012 collection. At first I thought it was LE but obviously, from reading the other reviews, I realize that it's been around for several years. This is an absolutely gorgeous shade of deep rose. It is definitely a blue-based color, yet it has enough of a bronze cast to make it very wearable and flattering for those of us who don't normally wear cool tones. In the picture of the aforementioned display, the model who is wearing this has a very deep tan (or is wearing tons of bronzer - the more likely possibility) and the color looks fabulous on her, yet here I am wearing this on my winter-pale skin and it looks great. As always, the quality of the Colour Riche lipsticks is excellent.

Moisturizers -Cerave - Moisturizing Lotion
rated 5 of 5
tabloid 4/27/2012 3:33:00 PM

This has just become available for sale in Canada and so I bought it based on a good review in InStyle magazine. I have been using it as a body lotion (although apparently you can also use it on your face). The first thing I noticed is the complete and absolute abscence of fragrance. Most products labelled "fragrance-free" do have some kind of smell but this lotion does not smell of anything - a huge plus for anyone who is sensitive to fragrance. Next, I noticed the texture - very very light, to the point where I was wondering if the lotion would actually do the job. Well, I'm glad to report that it does leave my skin soft and silky for hours afterwards. In short, I love this product and will definitely repurchase it.

Polishes -Sephora - Sephora by OPI: I'm With Brad
rated 3 of 5
tabloid 4/23/2012 12:05:00 PM

This color is much more interesting in the bottle than on my nails. When you look at the bottle, it looks like a dark burgundy with both plum and cocoa tones, but once I applied it, it looks somewhat dull and boring, and a lot darker than I thought it would.

BB Cream -Stila - Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm
rated 4 of 5
tabloid 4/23/2012 11:59:00 AM

This is the first BB cream I ever bought and I am very impressed by it. I have rosacea as well as oily skin, and this cream not only covers the redness but also gives my skin a matte finish which lasts for hours. It also diminishes the look of my fine lines, so that overall, it gives me the skin I wish I had naturally. I would have given it five lippies instead of four if it weren't for the following two beefs I have: first, it doesn't protect from the sun - there's no SPF rating on the package. While titanium dioxide is listed as an ingredient, it's way down the list, so any sun protection if offers must be quite minimal. My second complaint is the price - $ 49.00 Canadian for 1.5 ounces. I know that some other companies sell BB creams for about half that price - of course, since I haven't tried them, I have no basis for comparison and have no idea whether they're as good as the Stila product. I will repurchase this, however, because I love how good it makes my skin look.

Polishes -OPI - Step Right Up!
rated 3 of 5
tabloid 3/21/2012 7:21:00 AM

I was disappointed in the formula, since OPI's formula is usually great. It's semi-sheer rather than sheer and it's tricky to apply; it goes on somewhat streaky and there are a few bald patches (and trying to cover the bald patches just makes it worse). The color is lovely, though, a milky very pale pink.

Moisturizers -First Aid Beauty - Ultra Repair Cream
rated 5 of 5
tabloid 3/18/2012 8:28:00 AM

I received this as a sample from Sephora and I love it! I applied it on my face (which is combination-oily but tends to be dehydrated during the winter) where it caused a temporary stinging sensation but did not irritate my skin; I also applied it on my hands, which left them very soft and smooth for hours. I love this cream's light and fluffly texture, and I love the fact that it is unscented. I will definitely repurchase this in future.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - rose
rated 3 of 5
tabloid 2/29/2012 6:56:00 AM

This is a very pretty medium-rose shade. However, I don't like it as much as I like Bobbi Brown's Italian Rose, which is quite similar in color but is in a different formula - creamier and less matte.
