Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Travel Kabuki Brush
pecantan 10/13/2011 7:46:00 PM
this review is for the full sized flat top kabuki brush. i used this brush to apply my cream to powder foundation. it applied my foundation beautifully!!!! my skin looked so smooth, almost airbrushed. i was amazed. no streaks or anything and i applied my makeup so much quicker than when i use a cosmetic wedge. i also used less product. i was in heaven and planned on using this brush forever...until i discovered that it was irritating my skin. it wasnt that the brush wasnt clean, it was the bristles/synthetic hair that caused the irritation. if you have really sensitive skin, beware of this brush. it gave me tiny bumps all over my face. my face got really upset after using the brush 2 days in a row. sucks for me..cuz it really is a great brush. if you can use it with no issues, then i highly recommend it. unfortunately for me, i have to go back to using cosmetic wedges :(

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
pecantan 10/10/2011 10:05:00 PM
i didnt like this foundation. im not a big fan of liquid foundations but i heard some raves about this over on youtube. quite a few people stated that this foundation doesnt need to be set with a powder. being that i am having the hardest time finding a powder that doesnt break me out/clogged my pores, i decided to try using the mac prolong wear alone. first of all, this foundation is way too sheer and light for me. i need a full coverage foundation. unless you have nearly perfect skin, you will definitely need to use a concealer with this foundation. i spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to build the foundation and still could hardly cover any of my flaws. i cant say how well it lasts throughout the day b/c i hated the application so much that i washed it off shortly after applying it. it's going back to the mac store tomorrow..

Pressed Powders -Clinique - Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder
pecantan 10/4/2011 6:27:00 PM
this powder truly lives up to its name! i dont wear it alone, i use it to set my foundation.i have oily skin that is usually dripping with oil by mid-day.this powder keeps my foundation looking fresh and matte all day. i have a medium brown skin tone with yellow undertones and the shade i wear is stay honey. its very natural looking and doesnt look cakey at all. the only thing i dont like about it is that it tends to make my complexion look a little dull. however, i highly recommend this to ladies with oily skin. great oil and shine control!!! :)

Pressed Powders -Laura Geller - Matte Maker Invisible Oil Blotting Powder w/Brush
pecantan 9/30/2011 7:28:00 PM
i wasnt impressed with this powder. it did a very poor job at controlling oil. i also didnt like the half sized mirror that comes with it, its too small. it did not come with a puff or a brush. for $22.00 i expected better. the guy at Ulta raved about this powder.claiming it was best thing since sliced bread and that he can never keep it on the shelf.. blah blah blah. what a big disappointment! back to Ulta this goes...

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder
pecantan 9/7/2011 8:57:00 PM
my objective is to avoid having to blot throughout the day and for that i love this powder!! i use it once in the morning to set my foundation.. and it controls oil all day. i dont have to blot my face at all! i do want to add that this powder must be used in conjunction with a foundation that is suitable for oily skin, otherwise you will still get oily a few hours later. this powder is a definite god send to me. i was so sick of having to leave my desk and go to the bathroom and use those oil blotting sheets which always removed too much of my makeup. then i would have to reapply my makeup and it always ended up looking streaky and cakey. i would return to my desk embarrassed and feeling like i looked a hot mess. this powder has totally saved me from all of that. my makeup looks as fresh at the end of the day as it did that morning.

Foundations -Milani - Creme to Powder

i have been experimenting with different foundations for a while now. this one is hands down the worst one that i have tried so far. OMG, the smell of this stuff is hard to take. it smells like hair grease.. and when i started to apply it..it felt like hair grease. the texture of it is thick and oily. it felt so icky and heavy on my face. i couldnt wait to wash this crap off! i only wore it for a short time but on my oily skin,i can only imagine what i would have looked like by the end of the day. this goes back to walgreens tomorrow...HATED IT!!

Foundations -Posner - Cover Stick Foundation
pecantan 8/26/2011 8:10:00 PM
for a while now i have been experimenting with different foundations... fashion fair, iman etc. this one is the cheapest one that i've tried..however it's my favorite! my skin tone is medium brown w/ yellow undertones- the shade medium is a perfect match. the makeup goes on so smooth and looks so natural. it doesnt feel heavy on the skin at all. i have hyperpigmentation and this makeup covers it well. however, in order to get full coverage you do have to spend time building the makeup.my only gripe is that i have oily skin and this makeup offers zero oil control. so if you have oily skin, you will need to set this with a shine control, mattifying type powder. UPDATE: this makeup is just much too greasy for oily skin. it has petrolatum in it, which is vaseline. im pretty sure thats the culprit. i tried wearing it with several different powders,i even went out and bought an expensive mac powder and none of them could tame the oil that this makeup caused. like clockwork, everyday by noon i was dripping with oil. this is a really good makeup though. when used with a kabuki brush,it concealed my flaws in no time. i highly recommend it to people with normal/dry skin. i read somewhere that the posner cover creme in the small pot is a better choice for oily skin. i may try that at some point and report back.

Stick -Iman - Second To None Stick Foundation
pecantan 8/24/2011 9:04:00 PM
this foundation was almost perfect! i have very oily skin and have been searching for a foundation that keeps my oil at bay to the point where i dont have to touch it up during the day. this foundation came through...the oil control is amazing!! the coverage was also great. i have hyperpigmentation and this foundation alone covered the marks very well. however my gripe about this foundation is that it dried out the area around my eyes so bad that i looked like a raccoon. it was quite embarrassing. i looked in the mirror and it looked like i hadnt even applied any foundation around my eyes. being that im dark around the eyes, it was NOT a good look. i loved the foundation and didnt want to give it up so the next morning i loaded up on extra moisturizer around my eyes hoping that would solve the problem...it didnt. i then tried applying moisturizer around my eyes again mid day and then reapplying more foundation around my eyes... that didnt work either. still a short while later the dryness/darkness came back. UPDATE: 8/30/11 while in Ulta, i noticed that the boxes of these had a red label that says "now enriched with minerals". i realized that they were new revised ones. the review above is for the original one in the plain brown box. i picked up a box of the revised one, hoping to get better results. i was very disappointed to find that the revised one is even worse than the original one. at least the original one was easy to remove..the new one took forever to come off!! i had to wash my face 3 times and then wipe with a soft cloth which i hate doing. once again Iman has revised a product only to make it worse than the original. i also dont like the fact that her color chart is not consistent. in the cream to powder, im clay 5. however the stick clay 5 is a little too light for me and the next one up which is earth 1 is too dark/red. all of the earth colors have red in them. my skin tone is medium brown w/ yellow undertones. i guess Iman doesnt realize that not every brown skin woman has red undertones. she really needs to incorporate some cool colors into the earth line. if she wants to revise something else..that would be my suggestion!!

Crème -Iman - Cream to Powder
pecantan 7/18/2011 6:07:00 PM
i really like this makeup! i decided to try this after hearing a lot of raves about it on youtube...im so glad i did!!! * the shade clay 5 is perfect for my medium brown skin tone- i was amazed. im so picky about foundation and its usually really hard to find a shade that suits my skin tone perfectly. this one does! * great coverage- no concealer needed. this alone conceals my dark spots very well. * color stays the same all day * makes my complexion look really smooth * doesnt feel heavy ( i will change my rating to 5 lippies once i determine whether or not it breaks me out. will update in a few weeks) UPDATE: im still loving this makeup. it does NOT break me out-yay! i do have to set this with an oil controlling powder otherwise i get very greasy. TIP: once you know which shade you need, buy this at walmart. its over $3.00 cheaper than other stores

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder
pecantan 5/22/2011 8:44:00 PM
as far as the powder itself, i liked it. it was easy to apply, oil free w/ a fairly small ingedient list, gave my face a nice, matte, smooth appearance and wasnt messy. however, its so hard to find the right shade! the shades are a lot darker than they appear and the color chart is misleading. the advertisement said that queen latifah is brown bronze 1,so i got brown bronze 2 because im a shade or two darker than her. the shade turned out to be way too dark and had red undertones in it. so i went back and got brown bronze 1, which was still too dark even though it looked fairly light. at that point, i called the 800 number on the box to get some assistance. the guy was very nice and helpful. i told him that i have a medium brown skin tone w/ yellow undertones and he said that i should be using light bronze 1. the advertisement had a light skinned latina looking woman wearing that shade....so who would have thunk it?? it would be great if they had testers available. the process of finding the right shade was frustrating and annoying. the guy did send me 2 replacement coupouns which was nice but by that time i had already moved on to something else.

Foundations -Fashion Fair - oil free cream to powder foundation
pecantan 5/13/2011 6:16:00 PM
ok, forget what you have heard in the past about fashion fair foundation. their makeup is now revised and it is THE BOMB! i received excellent customer service from the associate at the counter. she took one look at my skin and was able to tell me the perfect shade for me. i have a medium brown skin tone with yellow undertones. the shade i wear is brown blaze. this makeup alone conceals my dark spots very well.i dont have to use any concealer.i apply it with my sonia kashuk pointed foundation brush. it feels very light on my skin and doesnt make me feel like im wearing a mask. the first day that i wore it to work, i received many compliments.my co-workers said that my skin looked so smooth and radiant. UPDATE: 6/21/11 although i've loved this makeup since day one, i was very concerned that it might break me out. i have very sensitive skin and i have to be careful about what i use on it. well im happy to report that this makeup does NOT break me out!!! YAY! the only thing i dont like about this makeup is that it settles into my undereye creases. TIP: if you are oily like me..use the FF oil control powder to set this foundation. my shade is toffee caramel. LOVE it!

Treatments -Mario Badescu - vitamin E night cream
pecantan 3/12/2011 10:42:00 AM
i love this cream! i've struggled with acne issues for years now and have been left with a rough texture and some shallow indents. this cream has improved the texture of my skin beautifully. it makes my skin look very smooth and plump. makes it more radiant. this has a small ingredient list and no fragrance. i used vitamin E oil for a while and liked it but it was sooo messy and greasy and got all over my pillow case. this cream i find to be even more effective and no mess. i highly recommend! UPDATE: 4/17/11 after a while, this cream started giving me cysts. had to discontinue. its a great treatment though and i still recommend it for those who can better tolerate it.
