Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe
rated 4 of 5
magnifiquee 2/26/2013 1:39:00 PM

This is my first colour tattoo purchase and so far so good! I expected this colour to be a little more purpley as that's what it looks like to me in the container . It went on more dark grey but it was nice. Very easy to apply with a stiff shader brush or even your fingers if you wanted. I expected it to be way more creamy and crease but after I applied it, it felt powdery on the lid and didn't crease at all! I will definitely be trying the rest of these because they can be great as a wash of colour on the lid or even as a base for eyeshadow. These are also very affordable for a cream shadow and the container is sanitary and nice, love the screw on top. Would recommend to people looking for good drugstore cream shadows.

Highlighters -MAC - strobe liquid
rated 5 of 5
magnifiquee 2/9/2013 5:11:00 PM

I LOVE this stuff so much, an HG product. Strobe liquid is as MAC's website describes "Blending soft-focus diffusers with iridescent pigments, this ultra-fluid strobe formula produces a soft, radiant light on the skin, reducing the appearance of skin imperfections by providing a natural-looking glow. Refreshing. Spreads on smoothly and absorbs quickly. Leaves the skin looking healthier and more radiant". This is exactly what this liquid does, it leaves such a gorgeous finish on the skin. I mix one pump of this with one pump of my MAC studio fix fluid foundation and apply it. It gives me a beautiful dewey look to my face and also makes my foundation feel way lighter. You could also use this as a highlighter for above the cheekbones and under the brow bone. You could even use this highlighter as a moisturizer, you really feel the difference in your skin with this since it has many antioxidants and it is so refreshing. It doesn't make your skin oily at all, and you don't need too much to get a glow. Which also means it is easy to overdo it is concentrated in shimmer, but a little goes a long way. The packaging is nice for this, it is the standard MAC pump bottle that is sanitary and dispenses enough product for a full face. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a dewey finish without having greasy skin. Love it

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush
rated 3 of 5
magnifiquee 2/9/2013 4:39:00 PM

This is a great budget brush. It is very dense, the bristles are extremely soft. I use it for liquid foundation, cream blush, blending out concealer and powder. It does not shed that much at all and even after a few washes it is in perfect condition. It blends out foundation nicely on the face and gives an even application, same with many other cream products and for powders. The only thing I do not like about this brush is that it is soo dense I feel like it soaks up too much of my foundation so it's wasting more. That's why I use my MAC 187 for my foundation, it doesn't soak up as much so I'll only be giving this brush a 3 because there are brushes that can do better. But I recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to spend $40+ on a brush and if you don't like it, hey it was only $3!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
magnifiquee 2/9/2013 1:11:00 AM

I really really do not like this face wash at all. I used to use the original version of this when I was younger and then tried this one out and they both suck. It dries out your skin, does not do anything for acne and oil control. The only good thing about this face wash is the grape fruit smell... I would not recommend this to anyone at all, it ruins your skin!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic in Carbon Black
rated 3 of 5
magnifiquee 2/7/2013 11:45:00 PM

I just bought this mascara yesterday since I heard so many positive reviews about it. It's not that expensive for a drugstore mascara and the packaging is cute, shaped like a telescope which I found clever. The brush on this mascara is really different, it was the first thing I noticed, the formula actually only goes on the base of the brush and not the ends of the bristles. I guess that is so the little bristles comb through the lashes while applying the formula right after it's combed out. I liked how my lashes look with only one coat, but I already have really long lashes so I don't need much help. I also liked how it separated the lashes because of the firm bristles combing them. I don't particularly like wet formulas for mascara but this one was okay because the brush doesn't deposit TOO much product. It is only okay with more than one coat, I'm going to keep using this and see if i can get the hang of it to make my lashes look perfect, I think this mascara definitely has potential.

Polishes -China Glaze - RE-FRESH MINT
rated 4 of 5
magnifiquee 2/7/2013 7:38:00 PM

This is a super cute colour by China Glaze that is supposed to be a mint green but honestly I can't see that. It seems like a lighter version of "For Audrey". That's my only complaint about this, I'd prefer a colour like Essie's "Mind Candy Apple". This is a standard China Glaze formula, thick and creamy and non streaky. I wouldn't buy this again because I have tons of light blues I can wear.

Polishes -China Glaze - Below Deck
rated 5 of 5
magnifiquee 2/6/2013 1:08:00 AM

Below Deck is a very trendy and cool colour for the fall and winter. It is a purple with grey undertones and it super flattering on so many skin colours. The application of this nail polish is a DREAM it is creamy and honestly you could pull off only one coat of this, but 2 coats is absolutely perfect for this polish. It lasts for a long time without chipping especially with a good top coat. I get tons of compliments whenever I wear this polish and it's definitely one I see myself grabbing for more often in the fall.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
magnifiquee 2/6/2013 12:41:00 AM

I have been using this moisturizer for over a year now and I absolutely love it. I have normal skin but it does get a bit dry around the corners of my nose in the winter, especially since I live in Canada. This moisturizer really helps keeping my face hydrated and smooth. I don't know how to describe the smell of this lotion it reminds me of a wheat or oatmeal or something lol, some people think it smells flowery, personally I like the smell. It isn't overwhelming and it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin which fragrances of any kind do. it has never broken me out and I do see the redness in my cheeks decreasing significantly after using it for this long. People who complain about the redness not going away should use it a bit longer and see because it doesn't give immediate results. This lotion also does not make your face feel or look greasy, it gives a nice satiny finish and my makeup glides perfectly on it even without a primer. I only took a lippie off because the price is VERY steep for a drugstore product, in Canada it is $27 and in America it is around $14 which is way better and I stock up whenever I go across the border lol. I'd recommend this to anyone and for people looking for a mild moisturizer that won't break you out, has a mild non-irritating scent and reduces redness.

Conditioner -Ion - Effective Care Treatment
rated 5 of 5
magnifiquee 2/5/2013 2:54:00 PM

One of the very few conditioners I allow to touch my hair. I am really crazy about keeping my hair healthy and strong because I have damaged it a lot through the years and now it has just started to heal and look better. This conditioner is amazing, it's not too expensive, I buy it from Sally's with my pro card and it's about $10 a bottle. It smells like frosting which is delicious!! You can use it just as a normal conditioner after shampooing or you can use it as a treatment for your hair, which is what I do every other week (I deep condition my hair every week but I rotate my products). I wash my hair with it's matching shampoo and after I rinse it out I work the conditioner through my hair and focus especially on my ends. I then put it into a shower cap and let it sit for an hour or maybe more than that if I have time. After I rinse it out I automatically notice a difference in my hair, it feels stronger and bouncier than before. It has really helped my hair regain its strength after years of damage and harsh chemicals and tools. The other great thing about this conditioner is that it is sulfate free and 100% vegan, amazing. I would recommend this to anyone as it doesn't weigh down my hair and I'm sure it wouldn't weigh down someone with thinner hair.

Palettes -Too Faced - Romantic Eye
rated 4 of 5
magnifiquee 2/5/2013 2:43:00 PM

I don't know why there is so much hate on this palette. I own the Smoky eye palette as well and I'm in love with Too Faced eyeshadows now. I don't experience fallout with the colours, I find them pigmented and easy to blend. There are a variety of matte and shimmery shadows in this palette and gorgeous colours that all go well together. You could use these colours for an every day look and then switch it to a nighttime look with some of the darker colours. The packaging for this palette is gorgeous just like any other Too Faced palette. It has the little magnet flap that keeps it closed so it's perfect for travel. It also has little cards in the top that show you different kinds of looks to do with these colours which is perfect for beginners or to give someone some inspiration for a look. The only downside to this palette is that it is so dang expensive, especially in Canada. It's $36 in America and $46 in Canada...not fair lol. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants something light for everyday but slightly more done up than a neutral brown look.

Polishes -China Glaze - For Audrey
rated 4 of 5
magnifiquee 2/5/2013 2:26:00 PM

A beautiful Tiffany blue colour by China Glaze that I seem to always grab for when painting my nails. The formula for this is great when the polish is new, it goes on easily but you do have to pile on quite a few layers to get an opaque application. As the polish gets older the formula gets thicker and gloopier so you have to be really careful when applying to not get such a thick coat so it doesn't take forever to dry. But this beautiful perfect colour is totally worth the trouble of its application. I'd recommend this to anyone especially tanned/darker people the contrast with those skin colours and this nail polish would be stunning!!

Polishes -China Glaze - Frostbite
rated 5 of 5
magnifiquee 2/5/2013 2:18:00 PM

This is one of my favourite nailpolishes ever, I'm all about royal blues I think they are so lovely on nails. I can never stop staring at my nails when I wear this colour. The price is a standard price for a good quality polish around $6 at Sally's, the packaging is just normal for China Glaze which is only okay because I hate the skinny brush I wish they would make it bigger. But the amazing and striking blue colour makes up for it, it's very easy to get an opaque application with 2-3 coats and it is even glossy without a top coat. It doesn't chip that easily thank goodness so I never have to touch this colour up. I always get compliments when I wear this colour, I'd recommend it to everyone.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Sushi Flower eyeshadow
rated 2 of 5
magnifiquee 2/3/2013 6:56:00 PM

I was automatically drawn to this colour because it is a beautiful and bright pink in the pan so I bought it. When I swatched it I liked the colour but once I actually went to apply it it was only okay. It was kind of patchy and I had to pack a lot on to get a decent colour. I tried it with just primer and with an eyeshadow base and I didn't know how to make it look nicer. Maybe someday I'll find a good way to use it but for now it's just going to sit in my kit and collect dust. I love MAC but this is a disappointment.

Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Chi Ceramic Flat Iron by Farouk
rated 1 of 5
magnifiquee 2/3/2013 6:15:00 AM

A quick description of my hair: thick, wavy and curly. This straightener works really awesome in the first couple of months and then it goes to pure garbage. I have gone through, and I kid you not 5 of these. I would go back to my salon and just exchange it for a new one and then eventually I just gave up and they even told me since the demand for these irons are so high the quality of them has decreased significantly. My first chi was amazing until it just never turned on again, my new ones all snagged onto my hair breaking it off, and I had to go over my hair a lot to get it pin straight. ALSO it took me literally 2 hours to straighten all of my hair which is pretty ridiculous because my new iron takes me about 40 mins now. I would never recommend this to anyone who loves their hair because this seriously ruins it and it is a waste of money because they constantly just die out of nowhere.

Polishes -Essie - Blue Rhapsody
rated 5 of 5
magnifiquee 2/1/2013 2:18:00 AM

I can't believe this polish isn't in the database, so I just had to add it. Blue rhapsody is a gorgeous metallic blue colour by essie. I am not really a fan of metallic colours because they show every ridge and imperfection in your nail but this colour is just too beautiful to not wear. It kind of reminds me of Cinderella in a way if that makes sense, just the blue of her dress, it's stunning. Like many Essie polishes it doesn't chip and you honestly only need one coat or two with this to get a fully opaque application. I would recommend this to everyone it's just beautiful.
