Lip Gloss -MAC - Dame Edna - Possum Nose Pink
magginine 1/17/2009 4:50:00 PM
Okay, I'm in love with this. I normally don't do bright lips but this one just looked so fabulous over Blankety lipstick that I had to buy it on the spot, no questions asked! It's the most perfect pink I've ever tried, bright but not obnoxiously so. Highly recommended. The only disappointment is the sticker of the Dame Edna glasses on the cap. It's tacky and cheap. It should've been embossed.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Brunette Degradé (Brunette Blonde Redhead)
magginine 1/17/2009 4:47:00 PM
I went to MAC today thinking I was going to buy the Redhead MSF because of the reviews I had read and the swatches I'd seen online but when the mua put it on me, it looked too whitish, or pale i guess. I am buying it as a blush and it didn't look right. So, I tried the brunette and it's amazing on me! I'm an NC40 with golden toned skin and this is very pigmented so I recommend applying with a light hand. I'll probably be using my skunk brush for it. I like that the shimmer is not chunky glitter, like other msf's before it. I'll likely use the darker shades for blush and the lightest to highlight. Very lovely product overall, too bad it's so expensive ($33.50 Canadian).

Makeup Brushes -Smashbox - Crease #15
magginine 12/21/2008 10:19:00 PM
This is my favorite crease brush. Just the right size, shape and so soft but dense enough to get the color placed perfectly and a good crease shape happening. I find it not only applies the color in the crease but then blends it out quite well too. It's expensive, but I adore it so I would buy it again.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Bent Eyeliner Brush
magginine 12/21/2008 8:35:00 PM
I have tried many e/l brushes and this one is the best, hands down. the thickness, length and stiffness of the bristles is perfect, the bend makes it so easy to use and maintain control. I can have a thick or thin line. And it's cheap at target, $5.99 I think? If I lost it I'd possibly drive over the border to buy one! Or beg a kind mua'er to ship one to me. At any rate, I love love love it!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Expressions Eyeshadow Palette - Paradise Cove - 397 [DISCONTINUED]
magginine 12/7/2008 10:53:00 PM
i admit i bought this because of all the great reviews and would never have bought it otherwise. i guess i assumed that because it was cheap, wet n wild shadows would be chalky and not pigmented. boy, was i wrong!!! i love this set of 8 shadows. i've been using them every day since i got them and i am starting to feel sorry for my h/e shadows. they're soft, creamy, silky, shimmery, well-pigmented. what's not to like? i have dark brown eyes with nc30-40 skin and i find the colors work well for me. i'm neutral on the packaging, don't love it or hate it. it's a little bulky but at least it's not flimsy feeling. plus there's a great pull out mirror. if the packaging was more upscale and you slapped a different label on it, i'd pay $30 for this palette thinking it was h/e. it's a steal. highly recommend it.

i love the minty flavor of this and it really moisturizes my chapped lips so well. i use this all the time and have one everywhere...my vanity, my desk, purse, car. plus it seems to not just slide off like other balms, it sticks to my lips until its work is done ;) love it.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Superior Preference Hair Colour
magginine 12/7/2008 10:42:00 PM
i've used different shades of light, medium and dark brown in this but my fave shade is 53, the one featuring Eva Longoria now in the ad. it's a very rich amber/reddish brown. i have used other products including excellence cream, garnier nutrisse, belle color, nice and easy and clairol l'image. i have to color every 3 weeks due to the amount of gray in my hair and i have found that this covers gray the best out of all of them. it also lasts a long time without fading off. it could be a little gentler on the hair but the conditioner is a good one. the mixture is on the runny side as opposed to creamy so you have to watch out for mess. but for the gray coverage and richness of shade 53 i'd give this a thumbs up.

Treatments -Joico - k-pak deep penetrating reconstructor
magginine 12/7/2008 10:35:00 PM
i got this as part of a kit called the 17 minute miracle which includes the chelating shampoo, cuticle sealer, deep reconstructor (this product review) and the intense conditioner. my hair was severely damaged from a summer on a resort and the daily abuse of the sun, chlorine, salt water and heat styling. add to that more frequent coloring and i had one hot mess of hair. it was brittle, felt like coarse brillo and was breaking off. i was distraught. so i used this. it made a HUGE difference. i used it exactly as the instructions said, once a week, with heat and followed it up with the intense hydrating conditioner and it rescued my hair. it stopped breaking off and felt so much better. still not 100% but nothing but growing out the old damaged hair is going to do that. i loved it so much and got such a great deal on the kit at my salon ($25!!!!!) that i bought a back up set. i will buy this over and over unless i come across something much better for the money. plus it smells wonderful.

i absolutely love this e/s. the color is a gorgeous pinky gold shimmer which looks fabulous on nc30-40 skin. i think of it as a neutral and it could be paired with tons of other shades. good texture too. love it and will buy another when i run out.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Plushglass in Big Baby
magginine 12/7/2008 10:27:00 PM
i love this. i didn't mind the slight tingle of the plumping formula. the shade is a to-die-for light beigy nude with a slight peachy tone to it. i love wearing this over half 'n half lipstick. the combo of the two makes my lips look so full and luscious. love it.

Lipstick -MAC - Blankety
magginine 12/7/2008 10:24:00 PM
a pinky light nude. maybe this is a little too light for me. maybe a little too cool for me. but with a dark eye i love it. i add some color by way of a gloss over it. love the amplified creamy texture too. not as drying as others and goes on so beautifully. overall, not my fave nude but def a good one.

a gorgeous deep rich royal blue. i am not a fan of blues on my brown eyes but something about the tone and depth of this works for my olive nc35 skin. very highly pigmented, just enough shimmer.
