Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer SPF 15 with Dermaxyl
lexymiss 12/25/2008 7:32:00 PM
The texture of this product is nice and silky so it should work. But it made my skin burn!!! For the reference, I have sensitive, dry, redness prone skin. Obviously, will not repurchase.

Primer/ Corrector -Clarins - Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
lexymiss 12/25/2008 7:25:00 PM
I haven’t had any luck with Smashbox Photofinish, so I assumed this would be the same. Thank God I was wrong. I can’t really compare this to any other product as it is only a second primer I have used. I can say though that it doesn’t burn my face like Photofinish did, and it doesn’t make it red. It agrees with my sensitive and dry skin, and it creates a nice base for my mineral makeup. I would prefer if it didn’t come in a jar, but that on itself will not distract me from buying this again. Nice silky smooth texture and you only need a little bit. This pot should last a long time, even with everyday use.

Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - Buff Puff
lexymiss 12/2/2008 1:52:00 AM
I used this once, in my early days when I didn’t know any better in skin care routine. There are way better, safer, gentler, and more effective exfoliants to use that this. Please, stay away. Even the one marketed extra gentle for sensitive skin is not gentle at all. I tried using once, got my face scratched and burning (even though I didn’t use any pressure). On a good side though, it works good as a shower scrubber, hence one lippie! LOL (that’s where it belongs too)

Shampoo -Organix - Coconut Milk Shampoo
lexymiss 12/2/2008 1:37:00 AM
My hair is very fine and fragile and I try not to use harsh shampoos. But it gets oily so darn easy that I just have to use clarifying shampoo often. So I like to use gentler, sulfate-free ones in between. I haven’t had any luck with a few that I’ve tried, but this one is ok. I adore the smell!!! It is great! I have both shampoo and conditioner, and I like the combination. And my hair doesn’t look like a grease mop at the end of the day, like with some other ones I’ve tried. I did repurchase this a few times, so I guess it’s a keeper. The conditioner does feel a little funky, but it works great on my hair. Shampoo lathers up very nicely! Will repurchase! Oh and I don’t get any flakes (dandruff) with this either, even though many other shampoos will do this to me! I want to try Vanilla Silk next! :) EDIT: I switched to L'Oreal EverPure, and only after I've done so do I realize how inferior this product is. Compare to EverPure, this made my hair tangle and fall out, and was not nearly as moisturizing. Will not repurchase, even though I miss that awesome smell :)

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Powder Brush
lexymiss 12/2/2008 1:25:00 AM
Eco tools brushes are superb. They are very soft and ideal for sensitive skin (like yours truly has); and they are very effective, durable and extremely affordable. You don’t need to break your bank to own a high quality brush. And they are “green” too! I own about 3 to 4 of them, and I rarely even use make up. LOL

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Topix Glycolix Elite Sunscreen SPF 30
lexymiss 11/22/2008 12:04:00 AM
This is a physical sunscreen, pure zinc oxide, so yes, it will leave a slight white cast. But for us with sensitive skin, it is one of the few options out there. Having said that, I prefer this ss to many, many others. It is absolutely not greasy, as a matter of fact it is mattifying. Us ladies with dry skin definitely need to use the moisturizer underneath. I find that the key to liking this ss is to know how to use it. I use a lot, the recommended dose. But I work in sections. Massage, massage, massage, …….. and it does absorb and settle in. Just have to work at it. It doesn’t break me out, it doesn’t make my skin suffocate, it doesn’t irritate or contribute to my flushing/facial redness. And it is natural, non-chemical, effective and stable ss. It also makes a perfect base for make up. Even without make up, it evens my skin tone. I do find myself using eye cream (or just extra moisturizer around my eyes) as it does accentuate dry spots on your face if you skip this step. I went through about 3 of them so far, and as far as I’m concerned it is a HG product for me. Let’s face it, there aren’t many options out there, but this one definitely rates high up among the few that are available. Not to mention, zinc has healing properties!!!!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Camille Beckman Glycerine Hand Therapy
lexymiss 11/21/2008 11:29:00 PM
I discovered this lotion two days ago, in a little gift shop. Tried a sample and was amazed at how soft my hands instantly became. My first thought was that it must be laden with silicones. Started reading the ingredient list, and I was pleasantly surprised. Cannot put the tube down, and cannot stop touching my hands. This truly feels amazing. My hands are always dry and cracked due to my job, and I am just amazed at the difference in the appearance and texture of them in just two days of using this. I have found my Holy Grail product!!! I got the lotion version, in a tube, and while it is rich, it is fast-absorbing, non-greasy, and moisturizes for a long time. Love the Lime Leaves scent. I’ve tried many hand creams, and this one has by far out-performed all of them in a matter of a single application. Heavenly……..

Cleansers -Ponds - Clean Sweep Cleansing and Makeup Remover Towelettes
lexymiss 11/5/2008 11:37:00 PM
I’ve tried a few MU removers over the years, and I always come back to this. It is super simple to use, no-mess, quick and easy. It works! I use it for all over the face, foundation and eye makeup, and it does the job. I always follow it with my regular face wash, but this is my personal preference. It does not irritate my skin (which is sensitive and redness prone) and it doesn’t dry it out, unlike some other oils I’ve tried. Will keep using! Very pleased!

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Coconut Milk Body Lotion
lexymiss 11/5/2008 11:31:00 PM
I have to agree with the previous two reviewers. Although I love the smell of this lotion, it is very light and watery. It is great for summer time, but my body craves a little bit more moisture, especially in fall/winter months. I love that it is not greasy, but is way too pricey for what you get. Worth mentioning that it did not made my sensitive skin sting like some other fragranced body lotions do. Still, I don’t think I’ll repurchase…..

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Peacock Green Eyeshadow
lexymiss 11/5/2008 11:26:00 PM
I absolutely love this shade. It is so unique; this dark, smoky green. I tried a sample on my hand, and just fell in love with it. Did not regret the purchase, even though it is by far the most expensive and the smallest eye shadow pot I bought!!! It goes on smooth, very blendable, does not crease! Stays on! And most importantly, the color you see in the pot is what you get once you apply it on as well! Just heavenly. I am also happy to report that since the pigment is true, this little pot will last me for some time (thank God)!

Eye Shadow -Ulta - Eye Shadow
lexymiss 11/5/2008 11:19:00 PM
I really like Ulta’s shadow pots. They are a great bargain (I get them on sale, and they often have coupons too!!). I think I have about 9 or so. Pigments are really nice and have a good staying power. I find mine easy to blend, and they don’t crease (although, I do use a primer under). I especially love their shimmery ones. Shimmer is subtle, very nice-no big chunks of juvenile glitter here!!! Will definitely get more as they go on sale!!!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
lexymiss 11/5/2008 11:10:00 PM
This was on such a good sale few days ago that I had to try it. I normally use Maybelline’s Full and Soft mascara (and it’s my HG), so I thought this one should be decent too. And it is. It is a good, drug store brand. It does provide volume to my lashes, doesn’t clump on me, but at the same time, it does flake after just a few hours. It is definitely more dramatic than my Full and Soft, so if you are after that look, it is good. I didn’t care for the wand, as it is too thick and thus a little hard to handle. Overall though, a pretty decent buy for the price. I think I will stick to Full and Soft for the most part though, as it looks more natural.

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Nick Nack
lexymiss 8/7/2008 12:14:00 AM
I didn’t think I could wear this shade because of how pale and naturally redness prone I am. But when I put their foundation, my face looks flawless, so I had to experiment with blushes. The price was great, so I had no excuse. I really like this color. It is a very natural shade of pink, and it is flattering. It makes me face glowy!!! You could build it up, but I prefer the slight flushed look, so I put only minimal amount. That also means that I will have this blush for years, since you only need very little. Great product at an even greater price!

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - New Flat Top Brush
lexymiss 8/7/2008 12:06:00 AM
I just got this brush two days ago and had to use it right away to see how it feels on my skin. And, oh my God, it feels so good! I have sensitive skin, and pretty much don’t use make up/brushes at all because of it. I’ve seen all the rave reviews about this mineral make up and brushes, and decided to give it a try. So happy I did. The brush is dense and so very soft. It feels heavenly on my face. No irritation, redness, break outs……. Nothing!!! Just heavenly, seriously!!! It literally feels soothing going across my face. Applies mmu beautifully too; looks very natural. At $10 a pop, for the quality, it is truly a bargain!!! I have no desire to try any other brand, and after this, couldn’t justify paying anything more than this. All in all, wonderful company with outstanding products.
