Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
keanash 2/6/2012 2:20:00 AM
I liked this one because I felt it made my eyelashes look lush, long, and dark. It smells like roses! And it felt smoother going on than others I had tried. I really used to love this but I have become sensitive to the formula and cannot wear it any more. It's painful. This mascara is also not very buildable and the big brush makes it hard to get product on all the little lashes. I prefer my eyelashes to be separated and defined and Diorshow doesn't really do that for me.It gets clumpy when you try to build with it and it does smear, on me.

Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin

I adore these dang things. I have fine, wavy, thin, and layered hair. These hold it very well at many stages of length. They're great for holding a secure bun while I'm at work, but they also work well for sweet, messy styles -- like a wavy & loose romantic low chignon. I've found so many uses for these and they've worn well for me. I found them easy to learn to use. One of my favourite things. I wear them all the time.

BB Cream -MISSHA - M Perfect Cover BB Cream
keanash 1/26/2012 2:32:00 PM
As a very fair redhead, I decided to purchase this bb cream in no. 13, which is the lightest shade available. The no.13 is a pretty good match for my whiteness. I wore this while running yesterday and I can tell you it was still in place when I finished. You do need to remove with a makeup remover to get it all off! This bb cream is easy to apply -- I followed how I had seen people apply it in Youtube videos, which is patting the product onto the face with fingers rather than applying with a brush or sponge. Now, since I do not wear this product (or any foundation like ones) on a daily or even very regular basis, I can’t say whether or not it’s going to cause my skin to break out. It is, however, very comfortable on the face — not oily, not greasy, and not heavy-feeling. The coverage is moderate, I guess, but it’s been so long since I’ve worn anything resembling foundation that I can’t say for certain. My skin looks very natural but quite smooth and even. The finish is matte, not shimmery. The packaging has a pump that is very hygienic, and it stands up well on the counter so it doesn't take up a ton of space.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Bouncy Blush
keanash 1/25/2012 2:34:00 AM
First I'll start by stating I really like a sheer, delicate, and natural looking blush -- but this was not so sheer it didn't show up, at least for me. I think this product must vary a lot based on which shade you buy, because I noticed that other reviews who also purchased the "Candy Coral" shade, like I did, don't say that it's too sheer or has no color... but some with other colors do say so. I didn't swatch the other shades, but, I chose "NO" on repurchase because I suspect that the color payoff is not consistent throughout the product. I'm happy with this sweet, pretty coral peach shade. It's a very smooth and dolly look for me, goes nicely with my coloring, and is not glittery or shimmery. I prefer my blush to have less glitter, and so this shade is nicer than the Peach Satin mousse blush I have from the same brand. More natural. Texture is very odd. It's a "gel powder" blush if I remember right. In any case, it's not feeling like a cream nor a powder nor a gel. It's a very in-between sort of dry gel feel. My complaint is that once on the face it does not, for me, spread so easily, but I otherwise found it easy to apply.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)

Wow -- I have combination skin and this broke me out while simultaneously over drying my dry areas! Doesn't lather well, didn't have a nice feel on application, and definitely didn't make my face feel clean. Absolutely will never repurchase.

Moisturizers -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Lavender Daily Moisturizer
keanash 1/15/2012 11:38:00 PM
Holy freaking grail. I have combination skin, with easily-clogged pores in the T-zone and dry patches on the cheeks. This stuff is fantastic. I find it reasonably priced and very effective -- it's a very lightweight moisturizer that doesn't feel oily or sticky on the face. It absorbs quickly. This product keeps my skin moisturized for many hours after application and causes no problems under makeup. At times I noticed a faint stinging upon application -- I have wondered if this is the hyaluronic acid that this product contains. Either way, it is not uncomfortable to me and it works so well that even if it were, I'd probably still use it. Comes in a jar, which some may not like. It took me forever to use mine up, and presently I need to repurchase. My favourite day-time moisturizer.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide on eyeliner in bourbon
keanash 1/14/2012 1:47:00 AM
Love this glorious brown liner! The glitter in this is finely milled and does not cause irritation for me, even near the waterline -- which is unusual, since my eyes can be quite sensitive to glitters in makeup. This goes on as a luscious, deep brown. The golden glimmer to this just provides depth and is not, in my opinion, overly obvious. I tend to shy from glittery eye makeup as I get older, and this just looks like a rich, deep brown for me! A lovely liner that goes on smooth and lasts for many hours. Will definitely repurchase and likely will use very often.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - NFU Oh - 52
keanash 1/1/2012 5:25:00 AM
Lovely deep purple/indigo jelly polish base with microglitter and flakes. Nfu Oh know how to make a flakie polish -- like no. 51, no. 52 is absolutely incredible. I had to have it after seeing swatches, and while it is quite costly, I felt it's worth it. This colour goes on a bit transparent so it's not a one-coater alone, but you can achieve opacity with a few coats. This makes a gorgeous topcoat over blues, purples, blacks, and deep greens. I stare at my nails all the time when I have this one on! As others have noted, the polish is a bit runny and might take care to avoid mishaps when painting -- but it's worth a little extra trouble. Stunning.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
keanash 1/1/2012 5:20:00 AM
Love the peachy colour. HATE the glitter/shimmer in this. This is a nice peachy blush for a redhead like me, but I wish they offered this shade without the ridiculous shimmery junk in it. When I put this on the glitter just goes everywhere, and I prefer a more natural look. I don't like my blushes to have so much shimmer -- I tried this based on it having so, so many rave reviews, but wow. I wear this colour because I have it, but when it runs dry, I won't replace it.

Shampoo -Aveda - Be Curly Shampoo
keanash 12/16/2011 2:56:00 PM
All right, Aveda. I love your styling products. I love the smell of your shampoos. I love my Aveda salon. But I don't think this shampoo should've been recommended to me by my stylist. My hair is wavy, and I was hoping for this to help give a little extra oomph to those waves. Even when used in conjunction with the conditioner, this doesn't do anything for my hair. I've had better luck with Suave is what I'm saying here. The smell is nice, and it rinses out nice, but my scalp's a little itchy after extended use and I can't justify the price of this for the payoff. I'll go back to my drugstore hair care.

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
keanash 12/16/2011 2:50:00 PM
I don't normally care for lip balms that come in tins. Let me say that now. I find it messy, I hate to get the stuff on my finger, it feels like it traps more germs even though likely it doesn't... you know. I do like the old-timey look to it, though, I'll admit that. But this stuff is AMAZING. Thick, rich, very moisturizing. Easy to apply since you're using your finger. My lips love this stuff, and I am going to try it on my dry knuckles at night, too. As a nurse, I have horrid problems with that. I love the rosy smell. The tin is big and heavy and I bet it'll last a LONG time. Even bought one for my sister's stocking! So glad I tried this; my lips are saved.

Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey
keanash 12/16/2011 2:42:00 PM
This has been on my to-try list and, since the last time I checked Lipstick Queen's "Medieval" was sold out, I went for it. This is a nice glossy tinted balm. The texture is smooth, kind of glassy. I feel it's expensive for what you get, but I was expecting that. For me, as a very pale gal, this goes on pretty burgundy for me -- I think it also highly depends on the natural colour of your lips. Mine are fairly pink and rosy on their own, so this gives me a little more of a berry tint than some of the pictures on here show, I guess. It'll be nice for work, when I don't want to full-on lipstick it up, but do want a nice hint of colour. The staying power is not great, but then again, it's not a lipstick. It's more like a tinted balm. I don't reach for this as often as I thought I might and therefore say I will not repurchase.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nfu Oh #51
keanash 12/12/2011 5:49:00 AM
I love you, Nfu Oh. These flakie polishes are just lovely -- smooth jelly base with firey flakes and a fine shimmer. #51 is an amazing red/purple/gold sort of combination to the flakes, with the base being a purple jelly polish. Goes on sheer, recommend a solid base coat underneath to get bottle colour without having to use 4576946895 layers of the stuff. I love this over purple, red, or black in particular. I, too, have had people literally stop and stare at my nails when I had this polish on. Love the packaging of these polishes, too.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Veet Suprem'Essence Hair Removal Gel Cream
keanash 12/10/2011 2:41:00 AM
Because of a lot of surgery, I have very heavily scarred legs -- it makes shaving a bloody mess no matter how careful I am, so I decided to try Veet. I have pretty sensitive skin, to the point where I can't use any scented laundry detergents or anything else... but I can use this stuff. The cream is thick and does not drip. It's easy to follow the directions. I feel a slight burning while waiting with it on, but when I rinse it off I make sure not to scrub the skin and it seems to come off okay. No irritation left behind. Removes hair very well.

Lip Treatments -Carmex - LipBalm
keanash 12/5/2011 6:27:00 AM
Carmex reminds me of my childhood, of being a little girl borrowing my father's little jar of this lip balm in the dead of winter while we sat in deer stands and pretended to hunt. It's tingly, moisturizing, and nostalgic. While I now buy it in the click-up tube, not the little pot, I still smile when I see the jar in stores. I will always associate this with my dad. I love this stuff.
