Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
eskimo122 12/29/2009 10:31:00 AM
originally i wasn't crazy about this product but it's grown on me. i had such a hard time finding a foundation for sensitive, breakout-prone skin and finally settled on this after reading reviews of countless products on MUA. the color is very yellow and matches my pale, yellow-undertone skin very well. i don't like the fact that there are little flecks of sparkles in this, but i put a matte powder over it. the product is also quite a bit thicker than other liquid foundations i've used so i mix it with moisturizer to help it blend easier. a few more pluses: this product has SPF and tarte doesn't test on animals

Deodorants -Dove - Dove Ultimate Visibly Smooth

i really like the smells that they offer but i don't see any difference in the hair under my arms. i used one whole stick already and am halfway through a second. i would continue using just because it smells good but i don't think it does what it claims.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15
eskimo122 12/14/2009 9:22:00 PM
better container than the original mineral powder because it clicks shut. i was pretty excited when this came out because my face is always shiny by the end of the day. i think it has a slightly finer texture than the original. i use this as a setting powder, not as a foundation, but for this purpose it works quite well. i have to purchase the fair and fairly light and mix them because the fair is too pink and the fairly light is too dark. this is quite mattifying and i think if someone doesn't have oily skin this might make their complexion look ruddy.

Moisturizers -L'Occitane - Ultra Moisturizing Fluid
eskimo122 12/14/2009 9:07:00 PM
this product is just plain awful. i LOVE the shea and cotton ultra comfort cream and i wanted a summer moisturizer with SPF. this feels tacky going on the face and trying to apply foundation over it is a nightmare. additionally, it is not moisturizing. i was shocked at how bad this product was. i'm sticking with the ultra comfort cream and getting my SPF through my makeup.

Masks -DDF - Sulfur Therapeutic Mask [DISCONTINUED]
eskimo122 12/14/2009 9:01:00 PM
this mask makes my eyes BURN! i can't keep my eyes open when i apply it, i have to wait until it dries completely. i use it as a spot treatment because it was so expensive i felt the need to use up the tub. it doesn't seem to do anything magical as a spot treat either. for how expensive this was, i am extremely disappointed.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Accutane (by prescription)
eskimo122 8/5/2009 8:49:00 PM
This is a complete rewrite of my accutane experience because all of the updates were getting messy! I have been off of accutane for almost a year. Here is a recap of my entire accutane experience up to this point. I hope that this is helpful for people: Background: I had very oily skin and moderate acne since my early teens. I had tried almost every topical or oral acne medication out there, both prescription and over the counter. Finally decided to take accutane. First few weeks of accutane: Cracking lips and painfully tight skin. You definitely need to get a heavy duty moisturizer. My weapon of choice was l'occitane ultra comfort cream. First two months: Skin is dry but no longer painful. Eyes are sometimes dry and sometimes extremely watery. Noticing some weird side effects like sweaty eyebrows! Skin is EXTREMELY sensitive and easy to injure. DO NOT PICK AT YOUR FACE. It will take a week or two to heal a spot that would normally take a few days. Your skin is "thinner" and will split and scrape if you pick. Four months: skin finally starting to clear. My extremely oily skin is now matte. Six months (last month of accutane): Very rarely get a pimple, maybe once every week or so. The pimple is always small, never cystic. 3.5 months after accutane: Some oiliness has returned but it's not as bad as it originally was. My skin is still clear. I have developed very sensitive lips that become red and irritated easily. The dermatologist said i have contact dermatitis and i am now allergic to lanolin, balsam, and clove. I have to purchase chapstick without fragrance and with minimal ingredients. 9 months after accutane: The pores that miraculously shrunk while i was on accutane have returned to normal size. My skin is oily but never returned to the intense super-oily state that i experienced before accutane. I get a small pimple every few days but it goes away pretty fast and is never cystic. I also use benzaclyn topical gel as a precautionary measure. The dermo says it is common for post-accutane patients to use a topical treatment after their accutane course. 10 months after accutane: my skin is definitely permanently altered. If i rub or scratch my skin it becomes really red. It was never like this before accutane. I don't really think this is a big deal but it is something that has changed. I am more careful now to buy products for sensitive skin. Just this week i broke out in hives all over my body and went to the dermatologist. She said i have hypersensitivity to outdoor allergens. I always had allergies but never experienced a skin reaction. I cannot say for sure that accutane is the cause of my newfound skin sensitivity but all of my sensitivity-related skin reactions have occurred post-accutane. overall experience: accutane may leave you with lasting side effects, or it may not. My friend took accutane as a teenager and he had no side effects. He also still has clear skin. I have experienced a huge increase in skin sensitivity and have developed several skin allergies after my accutane course. I still get some pimples but they are not nearly as frequent and are not cystic. My skin is also not as horribly oily as it was before accutane. Would i take this again? I'm not sure. Right now i would say yes but if i continue to experience this skin sensitivity i may change my mind. Think very carefully before you begin your accutane course. Is your skin REALLY bothering you? You have to weigh your current unhappiness with the possibility of lasting side effects.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Medicated Lip Balm
eskimo122 7/4/2009 4:10:00 PM
i've tried about 20 chapsticks since i've gone on a medication which majorly dries out my lips. the burt's bees regular beeswax chapstick just doesn't cut it. this stuff has a much creamier texture and i find that it moisturizes much better and for longer. the clove smell takes some getting used to but besides that this stuff is great and pretty cheap as far as quality lip balms go.

Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm spf 25
eskimo122 3/9/2009 11:30:00 AM
this stuff is amazing. i am on accutane so my lips feel disgustingly dry if i don't have any chap stick on. i've also tried about 10 different chapsticks. this one is by far the best. it has good staying power, goes on really smooth and feels nice. its the only thing that really moisturizes for an extended period of time. plus it has a subtle minty smell.

Masks -Kiehls - Soothing Gel Masque
eskimo122 3/1/2009 9:13:00 AM
This product works well to add some extra moisture to the skin. you need only apply a very thin layer. the gel texture does not dry. the only problem with this product is that it is in a tub. because of the gel texture, i think it's impossible not to contaminate some of the jar product every time you use it.

Moisturizers -L'Occitane - Shea & Organic Cotton Ultra Comforting Cream
eskimo122 3/1/2009 9:04:00 AM
i bought this product because i started using accutane and my olay moisturizer was no longer sufficient. this product does a much better job of moisturizing the skin. I like the creamy texture and the natural smell. it is still light enough to easily distribute over the face. the only problem i can see with this moisturizer is that the bottle is rather small so i think i will go through it quickly (i've been using it for about 2 weeks now) update: the 1 oz bottle actually lasts a while. i still LOVE this stuff. i will never use another moisturizer.

Skincare - Body -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Lavender Hand & body Lotion
eskimo122 1/31/2009 5:49:00 PM
This product is an awful moisturizer. I put it on my hands at night and when i wake up in the morning and wash my hands, i can feel the moisturizer sliding off, as if it was only on the surface the entire time and never sank in. This product gets a 2 instead of a 1 only because i really love the smell. It's the closest thing to real lavender in any product I've used so far. It doesn't smell fake or sweetened so if you don't like true lavender scent i'd imagine this would be really offensive. There is no other reason to buy this product except for aromatherapy purposes because it doesn't actually moisturize. Will not be buying again.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
eskimo122 1/2/2009 3:11:00 PM
i apply this with a sponge and mix it with moisturizer for sheer, even coverage. i like the fact that there are so many colours to chose from. the *neutral* tone colours still seem too pink for people with yellowish undertones but the *warm* tone colours have enough yellow in them. my only complaint about this foundation is that at the end of the day it's faded quite a bit, even though i set it with powder.

Toners -Dr. Hauschka - Clarifying Toner
eskimo122 1/2/2009 3:06:00 PM
I have acne prone skin and this product has done nothing to help. i also don't like the fact that you have to spray it on and rub it in with your fingers. it does have a refreshing feeling going on the skin though, and doesn't leave any residue. this might work better on people with mild skin problems. for me, completely not worth it for the price.
