I know this product has been discontinued but I'd like to pay homage to it anyway. I always received compliments on my eye makeup while wearing this and it just made me feel prettier on the days I wore it. Thanks for the memories!
I love this product so much. It was discontinued a couple of years ago, brought back and has been discontinued again. I was a huge fan of the Olive Artliner and this is what I bought to replace it after it disappeared from the shelves. Starshower is a medium/dark olive shade with subtle golden sheen to it. It is a very versatile shade, lovely for day or evening. Ladies pick this up if you are lucky enough to find it!
Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant
dragonballz 7/10/2009 1:39:00 AM
I bought this in the "Fresh" fragrance and got really excited that a natural deodorant could perform so well. I am not a fan of the gel consistency as I prefer solids or the fragrance but I didn't notice considerable odor at the end of the day. However, I won't repurchase because tricolsan is listed in the ingredients. I quit using antibacterial products with triclosan years ago because it is a controversial antimicrobial chemical and was bummed out that I won't be able to repurchase this product. Too bad.
Conditioner -SAMY - Esencia by Samy - White Lotus Hydrating Conditioner
dragonballz 7/9/2009 1:48:00 AM
I picked this up as an impulse buy one night after work. I prefer natural products and thought I'd give it a shot because my hair needed some moisture. I quickly became annoyed at the large ball "screw top." However, I recently went on the Samy website and found out you are supposed to pull the ball up to dispense the product and not unscrew it. At any rate, the large plastic ball is a huge waste of plastic for such a bells and whistles function/decoration and how is that earth-friendly? The product also has a very strong chemical fragrace which almost made me gag the first time I used it. The moisturizing properties are lacking and there is little to no slip upon application. I doubt I will try any more products from this line.
This hair oil is really growing on me. I use a small amount and concentrate on the ends. I like the natural ingredients as most serums have chemical sunscreen in them and/or silicone. As others have stated, it is hard to control the amount of product that comes out of the bottle. Overall, it is a great value and I recommend it to those who are looking for a more natural alternative to other hair smoothing products.
Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen SPF 30 Sensitive
dragonballz 6/18/2009 1:47:00 AM
I was looking for a physical sunscreen with non-micronized ingredients and this fit the bill. It's a little heavy on my face but I will be able to use this on my neck if I find a lighter facial sunscreen in the future. UPDATE: i recently found out that the ingredients are micronized per the Blue Lizard website. "CHEMICAL-FREE, FRAGRANCE-FREE 10 percent micronized Zinc Oxide, 5 percent micronized Titanium Dioxide Smart Bottle™ turns blue in UV light Available in: 1.25oz., 3oz., 5oz., 9oz., 1 gallon" http://www.crownlaboratories.com/bluelizard/products.html
Shampoo -Kiss My Face - Frequent Use Whenever Shampoo
dragonballz 6/18/2009 1:27:00 AM
While this is a decent shampoo, it is not outstanding. It does lather (which is more than i can say for some other organic shampoos) but the lather is more foamy than frothy. It feels as though my scalp is left somewhat clean. My hair is also more poofy after using this product. I'll use up what I have and stick to Desert Essence in the future.
Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Stash
dragonballz 6/18/2009 12:51:00 AM
I bought this because it looked like a pencil version of my current "Starshower" and discontinued "Olive" Lancome Artliners. It looks really nice when I apply the Starshower liquid on my upper lid and use this under my eye and on the top corners of my lid to give it a more natural effect. However, I wish the product had less gold flecks in it because I find that matte eye makeup is more flattering on me since I am getting older. Even though Stash and Starshower are shimmery, it is really hard for me to find olive colors that do not have gray or green undertones so I can overlook that aspect for teh time being. Give this a try if you want a great neutral color with a kick.
Cleansers -Boots - Botanics Moisturising Deep Clean Foam
dragonballz 6/18/2009 12:30:00 AM
While this is one of the few products that completely removes my longwear foundation, I find that it leaves my eye area feeling somewhat uncomfortable and tight. It's a shame because I don't mind the fragrance and love the creamy consistency. I have had similar issues with other "soap-free" products such as Basis Cleaner Clean face wash. I will continue the hunt for a nighttime cleanser but recommend this for someone who can tolerate the formulation.
Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - All Terrain TeraSport Sunblock SPF 15
dragonballz 5/16/2009 1:59:00 AM
I ordered this product through the Vitamin Shoppe because I was looking for a physcial sunscreen with organic ingredients. It contains 3% Z-Cote and 6% Titanium Dioxide. Additionally it contains antioxidants such as vitamin A, E, and C. The texture is runny but it dries to a semi matte finish and is somewhat helpful with oil control. A word of caution-this looks streaky/super white on skin that has not been pre-treated with a toner/astringent. Applying a moisturizer can also help the lotion blend better but I just use after my toner because I have oily skin. This product does contain Sqalene which causes breakouts for some people. The SPF 30 Terra Sport sunblocks contain chemical sunscreen in them, so this is the way to go if you are looking for something more natural. On the downside, the zinc and titanium dioxide ingredients are micronized which is contraversial in the health world. I don't recommend this for body use as it would make one look paler but for the face, its a good deal at around $8. Active Ingredients: Z-COTE zinc oxide, and titanium dioxide. Other Ingredients: Water, glyceryl stearate, octyl palmitate, glycerin, dimethicone, cetyl alcohol, ceterayl glucoside, corn starch, aloe vera gel (alebadensis), xanthan gum, laponite, rose hip seed oil (rosa canina), sunflower oil (helianthus annuus), squalane, comfrey extract, beeswax, arginine, sea kelp extract (macrocystis pyrifera), grapefruit seed extract (citrus grandis), cucumber extract (cucumis sativus), bladderwrack extract (fucus vesiculosus), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), citric acid, capryl glycine, disodium EDTA, methylparaben, propylparaben.
Powder -Merle Norman - Luxiva Ultra Powder Foundation
dragonballz 5/9/2009 3:06:00 AM
I use this over my liquid foundation and it has some good qualities. It doesn't look too matte/chalky and the oil control is pretty impressive. It does have a mild scent upon application but it becomes undetectable after it sets in. I won't be buying this again because I prefer yellow correcting powders but it is still a nice product.
Eye Shadow -Studio Gear - Dark Chocolate Matte Eyeshadow
dragonballz 5/9/2009 2:09:00 AM
I am always interested in finding matte neutrals and this one peaked my interest. I wish I hadn't taken the bait. The color is a tad warm on me and the lack of blendability is a big pain in the arse. It's also around $15 which is highway robbery for the quality when I could get a matte L'Oreal shade for $5 and obtain similar or better results.
Hair Color -Clairol - Complements Color Intensifier in Violet
dragonballz 5/2/2009 3:08:00 PM
I have medium brown hair that I dye at home (formerly highlighted blonde) and dislike how my color fades into a coppery shade that I don't care for. I don't want to keep coloring my hair dark in order to keep this undertone at bay so I picked up the violet intensifier and used it only with developer. My color had depth and I recieved compliments (hence the name). I noticed the color washing out in my towel for around a week and after around two weeks the color was almost gone. I would classify this as more of a semi than a demi since it washed away so quickly. Maybe if it was used along with regular dye and not just developer the results would last longer. Tt's fun to play around with but use caution if you have light hair
I'm really glad I picked this up. It has no fragrance to bother me during the day and makes my skin noticably smoother before makeup application. It doesn't cause dryness and isn't heavy feeling. It's just right for my oily skin. This doesn't really have bells or whistles but is a staple for me.
Cleansers -Derma E - Pycnogenol Fragrance Free Cleanser
dragonballz 4/22/2009 1:23:00 AM
I was really excited to try this because it is fragrance free and I like other items from the Derma E line. The texture is similar to a lotion and doesn't lather at all. It doesn't remove makeup that well so I can only use it in the morning. Perhaps using it on dry skin and wiping off is the way to go with this but I prefer the water face washing routine. I could see this being a winner for someone with drier skin but I'll pass next time.
