Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara

damnmit! Diorshow waterproof is my HG mascara and when i went to my local Dior counter to buy a tube since mine has run out the silly sales lady gave me regular Diorshow instead. i didn't realize it until i had gotten home - so i figured what the heck i would give it a shot. booooooooooo. i love the DS waterproof - it gives me a full, thick fan of lashes that don't flake or smudge all day - even through 3 hours at the gym! granted it is a little hard to remove - but i WANT a mascara that stays put! this mascara (reg) is just horrible. first off - what the heck is up with the scent?! who the crap needs scented mascara?? it's pretty strong and makes my eyes water when i first apply - as well as every time my eyes water. oh lets not even talk about what a hot mess this is if you get watery eyes from yawning, or crying, or from the cold. this mascara runs like it is being chased. and burns, and smells bad. i have worn it twice and both times within 3 hours it's pretty much gone from my lashes. also the formula is def. different - i have major clumping issues with this - and never did with the waterproof. now i just have to hope the snooty lady at the Dior counter will let me exchange it!!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass - Spring Bean
rated 4 of 5

i love this gloss alone and especially over some of my brighter pink and red l/s. as stated before - the green in this is mostly just the shimmer - and it works like a dream to mellow out brighter shades. i wish there was a bit more product in the tube - but whatcha gonna do? :) love love love. will def. repurchase.

Concealers -MAC - Select Cover-Up in NC20
rated 5 of 5

finally a concealer that doesn't cake , look dry, or settle into fine lines. (which i have a few of) up until purchasing this i had been using Neutrogena 3-in-1 concealer for eyes and hadn't found anything better. most look cakey and fake under my eyes and all the others i had tried didn't cut it (NARS, Benefit erase paste) . this is decent coverage - i have two small kids and a crazy life so this does a very good job covering dark circles! i have been using Benefit's Erase Paste on blemishes but found it too thick and cakey for under eye use. Select Cover Up works great for both!! love the squeeze tube...i tiny amount goes a long long way! i would def. repurchase this/

Lip Gloss -MAC - cremesheen glass - Just Superb
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 3/9/2010 12:17:00 AM

i just picked up this gloss at MAC from the new Too Fabulous collection - and i love love love it! the texture of this gloss is fab - moisturizing - it feels like a light lip balm. no heaviness and NO stickiness. the color is a nice neutral light pink - not a super opaque light pink... more natural. i freaking love this gloss .... i know it is LE and may just have to pick up another one of these - i feel that $18 is a little steep to pay for gloss, but i love the texture and may have to try out some of the other colors.

Lip Treatments -Korres - Lip Butter - Pomegranate
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 3/7/2010 10:35:00 AM

i have super dry chapped lips and am a big fan of winter sports - and this lip butter is the best i have come across. the texture is perfect - moisturizing and not sticky or heavy and greasy. the coral color is perfect for a natural lip with a hint of color and shine. i was very pleased to discover there is no taste or scent - and i feel that this lasts quite a bit longer than other balms. i know it lasts waaay longer than any gloss i have! i too am not very impressed with the packaging. i would much prefer this was in a tube - i hate using my finger to apply. plus the round tub is not something you can toss into your pocket - i wish i could !! so one lippie off for the silly tub packaging. all in all i will most likely repurchase . another great product out there horrible packaging :)

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Sustainable Shadow Box
rated 3 of 5
dirtyrat 3/5/2010 6:25:00 PM

until purchasing this palette i had only used the Deluxe shadows from UD. i loooove the deluxe shadows pigmentation and they blend out like a dream so i got this palette to try out some of the regular UD shadows. i use the non glittery ones quite often,(love flipside) but the majority of these are pretty glittery. don't get me wrong - i love me some glittery eye m/u .... but i seem to have an even harder time with these and fallout than i do with MAC pigments. i have tried dampening my brush and patting on gently, but the colors like grifter and midnight cowboy (off the top of my head) end up all over. i apply damp, and it looks great. an hour later is is all over my face - which is fine if it's a night out - but kind of a bummer when worn out during the day. i think i will stick with the deluxe shadows.

Bronzers -Too Faced - The Bronzed & the Beautiful Bronzing Powder
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 2/22/2010 5:32:00 PM

I have been toying with the idea of trying out a bronzer for awhile now - and decided on this trio so i could try out all three an see what would work best for me. i read reviews prior to purchase and saw that there were mixed reviews from women in my age group (i'm 31) concerning the shimmer/glitter in these bronzers settling into fine lines and pores. i swatched all three and figured i would give it a whirl. Pink Leopard - def more of a shimmer than anything else - i am still trying to find the best way to wear this - i def have to super-moisturize and apply with a very light hand to not have this look horrible - yes it does settle into fine lines. Snow bunny - i apply a swipe over each cheekbone over my blush (MAC DAinty) for slight shimmer - once again - a LIGHT hand is very important! Sun Bunny- i actually have been using the lighter side of this as a conturing powder - and it's been working great!!! overall i am happy with this purchase - although i have to be very cautious to go easy due to the shimmer....but it's totally do-able. i also like using the white and light pink stripes in Snow Bunny as an eye highlighter - in the inner corner and browbone. and i am pretty sure i will use all of these in my eye m/u at some point - multiple uses is a plus :) would not repurchase mainly because i am sure this will last me ages - and i think i will try a matte bronzer next time.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 2/21/2010 2:19:00 PM

i received a deluxe sample of this lip gloss in the shade "Doug". in the tube the gloss looked pretty scary - shocking pink with tons of glitter. applied on bare lips it is actually a nice medium pinky with sparkle. after the gloss has worn off though you are left with LOTS of glitter stuck all over your lips.... which is fixed by slapping some more gloss on i suppose :) i see that the scent is an issue for some people - and it is my biggest problem with this gloss. i read that some folks thinks this smells like breakfast cereal - which i tried to tell myself that was the smell - but i think it smells like peanut butter. and i am deathly allergic to peanuts. it actually makes me mildly queasy...and i can smell it long after application. i would not repurchase soley because of the smell. darn it because i was actually excited to try out other colors. unless they don't all smell the same?

Mascara -MAC - Studio Fix Lash
rated 1 of 5
dirtyrat 2/21/2010 2:09:00 PM

******EDIT****** ok i changed my mind and give this mascara one star. i am still not impressed with the brush or the formula - but on top of that.. i yawned a bunch yesterday afternoon and my eyes teared a little bit and i blotted and there was mascara EVERYWHERE. the m/u/a at MAC gave me the spiel of "all of our mascaras are water resistant" but obviously not. i wear both waterproof and non mascaras and have NEVER had one run all in my eyes and my face from a few yawns. WORST MASCARA for $14!!! i am thus far not too impressed with MAC studio fix lash. i was told by the mu/a that this was the best mascara for full, thick, long lashes that would hold a curl. boooooo not so at all. i applied two coats and lost all the curl, as well as now having clumpy spider lashes. wtf? i keep looking for a somewhat cheaper alternative to my beloved Diorshow waterproof - and this def is NOT it. as for the brush - i like using all different brushes - the big lush fluffy ones, the tine ones, and even "comb" brushes like this one. honestly Rimmel makes a mascara with the same brush that works better. would not repurchase.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipglass- Pop Mode
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 2/18/2010 5:10:00 PM

i only have a few MAC lipglass(es?) and this one has the longest lasting color by far. a little goopy and a little bit goes a long way - one of my faves when i want a little bit of color on my lips. i don't usually wear gloss because it is so sticky and gone so fast - but this gloss is one of the few exceptions. it is a bit pricey for the small amount you get - but would def. re purchase :)

Conditioner -L'Oreal - EverPure Volume Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
dirtyrat 2/17/2010 11:52:00 PM

i was drawn to this as a sulfate free conditioner that was a fraction of the price of Pureology but this was promptly chucked in the trash from the shower after first use. my HG shampoo and conditioner are Tigi Superstar ... which i am currently unable to find locally and don't want to pay ridiculous shipping charges and i am looking for something to get by with. this has decent texture out of the tube - but rinses off leaving a heavy residue. and the SMELL. horrible! seriously the smell was so gross (someone said wet dog, i was thinking pachouli on a dirty wet dog) that i chucked it in the trash and re-washed my hair frantically to get rid of the smell. ew. def not re purchase.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Deluxe Eyeshadow - Underground
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 2/16/2010 5:42:00 PM

nice tawny shimmery brown shade. i like the sheen - but for everyday use as a neutral - it is hard to do with this color since its so damn shiny! good as a crease color or all over lid with darker colors for a smokey eye. love the texture, pigment, and blendability - but clear plastic lid broke after just a few uses :(

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Large crease brush- white handle
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 2/16/2010 4:37:00 PM

i am so glad i didn't fork out the $$ for a MAC blending/crease brush. i LOVE this brush. i have always just used a large shadow brush to blend and apply shadow to my crease - and bought this on a whim at Target. Super soft, perfectly tapered, and does a FABULOUS job blending color and softening harsh lines. has taken my makeup up a notch. would def. repurchase.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Rich Flesh (N Collection)
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 2/16/2010 4:13:00 PM

this is the perfect golden brown matte shadow. i received this as a swap and wasn't really too impressed looking at the color in the pot OR the swatch i swiped onto the back of my hand. but after using this color - it has already become my quick m/u go-to. great as a crease color or i really love it as an all over lid color with a little Humid in the crease. love love love that it is matte! this is a color i would have looked over again and again without thought to purchase .... it doesn't look like much in the pan... so so glad i have this.... although i must say the name is horrid ;)

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - Eggplant
rated 2 of 5
dirtyrat 2/6/2010 1:44:00 PM

i have read rave reviews about WnW liners lately and have not used the brand since i was in high school (10 plus years ago) and was grocery shopping the other day and saw this and decided to give it a try. i think this falls into the category "you get what you pay for" . yes it is inexpensive . the package is crap and every time (only three times!) i unscrew the cap the plastic flakes off into the pot. lame. as for performance - meh. the color is a beautiful deep purple in the pot - but has to be gone over 3 or 4 times to get the line to look that color on my lids. i did not find this long lasting, even over UDPP. it was all smeared into the corner of my eyes and underneath in less than an hour. may use at some point as a base for purples.....but doubtful. would not repurchase.
