Cleansers -Ettusais - anti-bacterial soap
rated 3 of 5

I bought this - Acne Clear Soap. But it does dry out my skin, even after applying Acne Clear Moisture Essence. If I have a breakout, I will use it. If not, I think I will use another skin cleanser. Acne Clear Make Off to remove makeup was ok though.

Loose Powders -Ettusais - Day Protect (Amulet) Powder
rated 5 of 5
cstg 7/25/2005 1:48:00 AM

I have just started using this for about 4 days, both the day and night amulet powder. It's decreased my hormonal acne breakouts significantly. I love it. Am looking into buying some other Ettusais skincare products as well. Will buy the refill packets once these run out. Don't think I need any other sort of pressed powder. Got the day amulet powder in Lucent (translucent color).

Cleansers -MAC - Makeup Remover Wipes
rated 5 of 5

I got a 30 sheet pack for free as part of the try-on pac, gift with purchase in Bangkok. I've been trying it and so far, love it. I usually don't wear all that much makeup, and it gets all that's on my face - off. Afterwards, I clean with Cetaphil, then with a toner, then moisturize. Does the trick and am thinking of buying it once I run out. It is simpler and easier and no irritation, especially good for sensitive 35 year old skin, that's normal to oily t-zone, difficult to please most of the time. And had been having trouble handling the Shu Uemura cleansing oils, was thinking of getting the Fresh Formula with AHA and cherry blossom extract which is a light cleansing oil formula - but if the cleaning wipes do the trick, I might not get any more Shu oil for the sake of not risking my skin more.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL SPF 60 Fluide Extreme
rated 3 of 5
cstg 2/11/2005 8:26:00 AM

Rather undecided about this product. Gave it 3 lippies because though it protects well against UVA and UVB rays, it gets a bit oily for me - and sometimes it flakes even on days when I have really given the bottle lots of shaking to mix the mixture together. At first, I got small bumps on my skin upon my 1st week of using it. Stopped use for a while, then resumed after those bumps had gone away. Can't find any other sunscreen that works as well as LRP's but am still looking. Don't think I'd buy it again, and would still like to look for a suitable protective sunscreen that's lighter than this and as good or better.

Treatments (Eye) -Prescriptives - Vibrant-C Skin Brightening Eye Cream
rated 4 of 5
cstg 1/11/2005 10:58:00 AM

I have been using this for the past 1 to 2 months and like it. At the moment it is my prefered eye treatment as it's good for hot humid climates like Bangkok and I like the pump bottle for any and all my skincare products. Until I can find something else of a similar nature, this will be my preferred eye treatment product. It lightened my dark eye circles and firmed the eye area up. Eye makeup went on well following application without problems. And the formula was moisturizing without being greasy. Altogether good points - so far so good.

Toners -La Roche Posay - Hydraphase Toner
rated 5 of 5
cstg 1/11/2005 1:07:00 AM

Just bought this last month, same as when I bought Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser. By using both, I attain cleaner skin than ever. I will rebuy this. It has a light fragrance that I like. It does not burn my skin and ensured that after cleansing, I have total clean skin. Will repurchase once finished with it, as it is good for my sensitive skin and affordable at 600 Thai Baht, with 5% discount, at "Healthy Max" healthcare store at Wave Place in Bangkok.

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
cstg 1/11/2005 1:03:00 AM

I bought my 1st bottle of the Dermo Cleanser a few weeks ago and ever since I've started to use it, I love it. It's good for my sensitive skin and cleans my makeup off thoroughly. I follow with the Hydraphase toner and using both gives me cleaner skin than before since before I'd use only Cetaphil and no toner and would get clogged pored. My dermo. dr. said I had not been removing all my powder foundation and it was causing clogged pores. Will buy another bottle once this is finished since it's rather affordable at 600 Thai Baht in Bangkok with 5% discount from the pharmacy store "Healthy Max" located at Wave Place.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Select Sheer Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
cstg 1/5/2005 12:39:00 AM

Bought this pressed powder in NC15 for the first time around the month of May 2004 and I like it most of the time, as I have not been able to find a pressed powder that works any better (but am still looking). This is good for daytime touch-ups as I don't want to retouch with foundation-powder compacts during the day for fear of overdoing it and making it hard to remove at the end of the day, causing clogged pores. I like this because it's a great alternative to loose powders, which I dislike since loose face powders cause a mess all over my clothes when applied.

Moisturizers -La Roche Posay - Toleriane Soothing Protective Light Facial Fluid
rated 5 of 5
cstg 11/30/2004 4:02:00 AM

I totally love the Toleriane Fluid and am so glad to have found it at what must be the only pharmacy that has it without a prescription in Bangkok! At the moment, it's converted me away from La Mer Moisturizing Lotion (which is increasing in price each year it seems, to be as expensive as gold). Am thinking of trying the Toleriane Cream during drier weathers like in the Dec.-Jan. months or in air conditioning when it might be needed. Notice my skin's reacted very positively to it after nearly 1 week use of it. Would have liked a bigger bottle rather than just 40 ml as seems I could run out of it rather fast.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 5 of 5
cstg 11/23/2004 11:39:00 PM

Love this lip balm. It's one of my HG lip balms and next to Carmex in a tub, I love this almost equally. I use a lip brush to apply this balm and since I live in tropical Bangkok the heat is just what the balm needs to get soft enough for application. Love the cool pepperminty flavor and feel to my lips.

Masks -Biotherm - Biopur Balancing Purifying Mask
rated 4 of 5
cstg 11/22/2004 3:13:00 AM

Actually, I rather like this product. It seems effective in shedding excess dirt and oil and cleaning my skin thoroughly. Regular use on a weekly basis allows for a decrease in acne or breakouts. So far it's the only clay mask that I like.

Highlighters -Guerlain - Les Meteorites balls powder
rated 4 of 5
cstg 9/1/2004 9:10:00 PM

I bought this in the "pearl balls" formula, which is less expensive than the one in the gold compact. However, it was still expensive, even when purchased duty free. I gave it a rating of 4 because it really doesn't do much. Yes it gives a glowy finish without being frosty, however it seems it has too much "pink" in it and makes my face a bit reddish. I still have to use a regular pressed powder compact along with it to cover up blemishes etc. As well, I would like a "glow powder" that has SPF protection, which I cannot find on the market yet. However, I do love the soft fragrance of the Guerlain product/powder. Most likely might not buy it again, since though I like it - it's not exactly all that I'm looking for in the glow-me powder. I would however buy something else like/similar to this.

Mascara -Lancome - Amplicils
rated 5 of 5
cstg 7/13/2004 1:32:00 AM

I don't think I've done a review on Ampicils Waterproof before. I gave it a 5 because it's the best mascara (and waterproof with no stinging eyes) I've used so far. I curl my lashes with a Body Shop eyelash curler, apply Ampicils Waterproof in Noir on my top lashes and do a zig-zag motion and get (1) maximum curl and (2) volumous lashes and (3) thick lashes when I apply more than one coat. When I was younger, in high school and college, I used Maybelline, Cover Girl, Clinique, Estee Lauder, and Helena Rubenstein mascara. Those worked well when I was younger, but now I can't use any of those at all and they cause allergic reactions, stinging eyes, and etc. I have recently been thinking of trying out Estee Illusionist or Magnascopic but I think I've change my mind back to Lancome - since it works, I best not risk it. Highly recommend it, especially for those who have stubby short Asian lashes like me.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Jeans de Chanel
rated 4 of 5
cstg 6/29/2004 12:09:00 AM

I was very lucky to get a hold of this item since it's a limited edition item from Chanel's Fall 03 Collection. The BA in Bangkok at a local dept. store was kind enough to go to the trouble of fetching one of the last remaining eyeshadows of this color for me, and within 1 week I was in possession of my very own Jeans de Chanel, denim colored eyeshadow kit. I like it for the smooth texture and quality of the color. Would buy Chanel eyeshadows in other colors too.

Moisturizers -Clarins - Multi Active Night Lotion
rated 4 of 5
cstg 6/24/2004 1:17:00 AM

I gave this 4 lippies because the formula for night lotion needs to be lightened, in my opinion. This is the formula for combination skin. I actually preferred the Multi-Active Day Gel, since it was lighter and soaked right into my skin and made it feel very soft and supple. However, the Multi-Active Night Lotion was still a bit too thick and wish it were lighter with the same results. This because I live in tropical weather in Thailand, so if a combination skin product can soak into skin in humid weather and do it's trick with no irritation to the skin, then - it works. However, if there's nothing else on the market that offers a night lotion of the same or better results as this one, I'd repurchase it - as it's the next best thing around especially for a lighter version of night lotion.
