Bronzers -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess

So-so. Doesn't show up too well on me. Doesn't last very long. Colour would suit paler people more. Hard to build up. I wonder if I will ever finish it up, as I don't find it useful. I prefer liquid bronzer- tge finish is more natural.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Spark It Up! Gleaming Eye Darkening Liner in Black Gold

Have been using for years. Get compliments every time. Brings our brown eyes better than any other eyeliner I've tried. MAC's Uniform is similar but not as good. Would repurchase but have scoured many stores and can't find it. If you see it, purchase a backup pencil too- you will be glad you did.

Highlighters -Guerlain - Les Meteorites balls powder

I can safely say that I regret getting it. I have it in Teint Dore 03, the ones that look like Reese Puffs, which is what the salesgirl recommended to me though i was gravitating towards Teint Beige 02. I am about NC25-30, sometimes darker. Anyway, this is beautifully packaged, beautifully scented, beautiful idea. Once when I was applying this my hubs walked by and remarked "That looks really cool. Like something rich noblewomen in ancient Rome would have. Or a queen." That's exactly why i love using it. It's the packaging and the whole concept that makes it worth the price. You just feel great finishing your makeup with it. . Good things: lasting power is awesome. Light dusting in AM is still present at night. Mattifies the skin, and if you don't over apply, it has a nice, soft-focus effect. Yet it also looks like I'm sweating glitter, if that makes sense. The colour i have definitely leaves a bronzed glow, but not in a good way. It's rather greyish/greenish cast, than just a healthy bronze look. As though I'm depleted of essential vitamins or deprived of fresh air. In fact, whenever I use this, I have people asking me whether I'm feeling okay as "your skin looks a bit dull...did you get a good night's sleep?" and similar comments. I have also been advised not to use "whatever you're using these days" because it's giving my complexion a dull/grey/dirty look. I get comments like this EVERY single time--and trust me, without makeup, my skin is nigh flawless, aside from a bit of light acne scarring. Like the reviewer below, I look better without this powder, than with. . Speaking for myself only. I actually used it on my mom once. It made her skin look radiant. So 4 stars for her, 1 star on myself. Even it out to 3 stars overall. . I really wanted to love this. I've bought into the whole luxurious concept so much that I still do. That's what Guerlain's great at--even if a product is mediocre, there is the aura of luxury surrounding it that still redeems it to the buyer. "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the consumer" applies in this case. Recommended for the fantasy, not for any actual cosmetic benefits. For an all-over glow, I'd recommend LORAC perfectly lit oil-free powder, applied with a large brush.

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Liquiline Blast in Blue Boom
rated 5 of 5
blooiejagwa 11/23/2012 7:56:00 PM

After it sets, it doesn't move. Beautiful bright blue colour. Lasts all day in my waterline. I have to be very thorough in removing this at night, otherwise the next day it's still hangin around. In my opinion electric blue eyeliner in the waterline is one of the most flattering looks ever--with an otherwise neutral eye look, taupes or browns or champagne on lid. This colour makes your eyes look bright, awake, fresh, adds a richness to the look, emphasizes any sort of skin colour, tan, pale, whatever, that you may have going on, in a flattering way.

Mascara -Quo - Miraculous Lash Mascara
rated 4 of 5
blooiejagwa 11/23/2012 3:42:00 AM

All around great. Buildable, but not very volumizing. Defines well. i have it in Aquamarine, and it's a lovely, pigmented, electric blue. I normally use a black mascara for top lashes, and this blue one for bottom lash line, it gives a blue hazy sort of effect, esp with blue in the waterline.

BB Cream -Marcelle - BB Cream Beauty Balm
rated 5 of 5

edit: LOVING this with a bit of MUFE HD foundation mixed in!!! edit: absolutely in love with this and buying backups. with the Dr Hauschka bronze concentrate, it's perfect. (as it totally "blanks out" my skin, i need this bronzer to add shape/colour again). . Good news! This now comes in 2 versions, one with SPF, one without. AND another shade--dark to darkest. So to the reviewers who were disappointed at lack of SPF, go ahead and try the new version! :D By the way, contrary to those reviews implying that a BB cream without SPF is an oxymoron--there are PLENTY of Asian BB's out there without SPF. So..yeah/ Anyway, I am so glad there is the option of no SPF. Anything with SPF added to it breaks me out, with a couple of exceptions. I'm sure there'll be people happy to have a version that'll photograph well and they can wear to night events without getting that sunscreen white cast.. It gives a nice finish that's in between dewy and satin. Very natural-looking, yet flawless, like you see on people with good skin. . It REALLY evens out skin well without being mask-like--it totally neutralized all the scar marks I have from acne. It's fabulous, fabulous. Well done Canada! Well thought out packaging, too. All round A+. it's a very neutral colour) so to warm it up I either mix in a bit of liquid bronzer (Dr Hauschka bronze concentrate) or regular foundation or just using a good powder bronzer on cheeks/temples

Lip Gloss -Essence - Stay With Me
rated 5 of 5
blooiejagwa 11/17/2012 10:25:00 PM

Edit- still love these. simple, basic, at this price you can afford to mix in. Shimmery pigment like mac vanilla or fyrinnae rapunzel had extensions, etc, if you want more variety, and they make lips look full and pretty. THESE ARE THE BEST THING EVER. i prefer these to my Dior, clinique, etc glosses -- it's the formula, it's so comfortable to wear, and fabulous. Great wand, covers lips efficiently in one go, great formula, colour range is simple but pretty. i have two colours (me and my ice-cream + my favourite milkshake), and they are both fabulous. Sheer in a good way, the way some higher end glosses are, to look classy/non-tacky, I guess. Honestly, if the packaging for these were a bit spiffier, and a more expensive brand sold em, I'd willingly pay a higher price

Eyeliner -Lise Watier - Lise Watier Waterproof Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
blooiejagwa 11/11/2012 4:05:00 AM

Best pencil eyeliner that I've ever bought. I invite you to swatch these and compare them to Dior, Chanel, etc--they are better than all those, undoubtedly. Turquoise eyeliner is my weakness, and i can say that the version in this line is the best I've ever ever tried. The colour Teal is amazing--dark deep turquoise, intense pigmentation, best turquoise eyeliner ever. i have this in Cognac too, and it makes for the nicest subtle colour in the waterline... bronze goodness..

Mascara -Clinique - Lash Power
rated 2 of 5
blooiejagwa 11/11/2012 4:01:00 AM

Terrible brush. My lashes always look clumpy and bad. Sparse, which is weird, because without mascara they are pretty thick anyway. Formula's okay, not thickening or anything special. Guess the main appeal is the tubing aspect. They could've worked on the rest, surely!

Lipstick -Guerlain - Rouge G 68 Gigi
rated 3 of 5
blooiejagwa 11/2/2012 7:59:00 PM

Only got this for the luxe packaging. It is so much fun to have. Lipstick formula is nice and light yet creamy. Long-lasting...ish. Colour is bright and fun, but you can find this shade at any price point. Nothing bad to say about the product except that it's really the packaging you are paying for, not the lipstick itself. The lipstick is good, but by no means worth $55+ CAD. i like the over-the-top packaging. It looks kinda rusted/oxidized, though.

Eyeliner -Prestige - Total Intensity Eyeliner Deepest Black
rated 5 of 5
blooiejagwa 10/18/2012 8:19:00 PM

Amazing intense black eyeliner pencil. Some days you wanna go for that smudged/worn-in look, and this won't give it. It's bold, harsh black. Very smooth, long-lasting, smudge-proof (unless you line the rims of your eyes and go to sleep). Better than MAC Smolder, Revlon Colorstay, Cover Girl liqui'line, L'oreal's eyeliners, Chanel's eyeliners, Guerlain's eyeliner, random kajals, or any other black pencil eyeliner that I've tried (the list is extensive). Hasn't irritated my sensitive eyes (YET!)....i plan to update if it does, though. I have a really cool Arab friend who wears the most intense black eyeliner ever, in her waterline too. It doesn't ever look faded or less than the darkest deepest black. That's her signature look, it makes her eyes look amazing! I always wanted to copy it, but none of my eyeliners, not even gel, was giving me that result (plus all gel eyeliners irritate my eyes in w/l)--however, it was some Arabic brand, unavailable to me--but this one equals the look perfectly. There's a really good, detailed NEGATIVE review on this here (not affil): http://bunbunmakeuptips.com/dupe-for-urban-decay-247-pencil-zero-prestige-total-intensity-eyeliner-deepest-black-really/ The reason i'm putting it up is because it lists several cons which, while not an issue for me, may be the deal breakers for other people.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Eye booster eyeliner + serum
rated 3 of 5
blooiejagwa 10/18/2012 8:52:00 AM

Edit- tried ultra black/ v hard to find/ adore it. Been using every day. .. I am glad that I bought this. Do not recommend "black" for those who want a genuinely black line. It is a slate grey. I like the greyish colour, but it's misleadingly labelled as "black," so that's minus one point. Haven't tried "ultra black", though. Applies well, nice calligraphy-style brush, makes winged liner a cinch, good quality, have to go over the lines several times for opacity though (minus another point).

Eye Shadow -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay in Place ShadowCreme Mochachino
rated 5 of 5
blooiejagwa 10/18/2012 5:27:00 AM

A beautiful matte taupe that perfectly fits in between cool/warm, and will suit ANYbody. For this reason it can make a good little gift, especially for a working lady who's short on time. Smooth & creamy, applies evenly, not patchy, as some cream shadows tend to be, and sets quickly. No creasing. Packaging is pretty. . I like it best as a wash over the eyelid, with winged liner. (Maybe adding a dark brown in the crease for evening.) I prefer the texture/formulation of these cream shadows to Shiseido's, Benefit's, or MAC's paint pots. The Shiseido ones have beautiful colours too, but don't apply as evenly and are too creamy (to the point that they slide), as well as having too much sparkle that actually shifts/moves around, rather than just staying where you applied it. The Benefit ones are also very creamy, and don't apply evenly in one go. The MAC ones are not creamy enough (for me). Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Tough as Taupe is in the same colour family, but slightly cooler, and darker. That one looks like an ugly greyish bruise on me, whereas this one looked like a gentler, more subtle colour, and is more flattering on me.

Lipstick -Clinique - Butter Shine Lipstick - Ambrosia
rated 5 of 5
blooiejagwa 10/17/2012 7:14:00 PM

Gorgeous sheer reddish coral. Beautiful, with fine sparkles. Very moisturizing. Great formula. Amazing colour on warm skin. If you like sheer and dewy, you will like this. . I passed this one onto my mom after she kept complimenting it on me--seeing as i already own its equal in the Lise Watier lipstick line, it's called Gala, and it's the exact same colour, just far more pigmented--different formula, same colour. I love it too, in fact, I can't pick which one I like better. I think I will buy myself another Ambrosia to replace the one I gave away.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Youth Dew
rated 4 of 5
blooiejagwa 10/17/2012 6:57:00 PM

I LOVE this fragrance. It's so comforting, spicy, wonderful. It smells "old world" if you know what I mean, with that richness, darkness and depth to it. I can't pull it off unfortunately, and I will probably never wear it in public, but I need one bottle around for the comfort aspect. I don't know anybody who wears it. I just find it so snuggly, cozy, warm, evocative, and lovely.Absolutely wonderful. Ladies who can pull this off and wear it daily, high five, you smell gorgeous. All the people who love this, please don't bother being defensive in your reviews, you have great taste. Don't feel you have to justify it to those who don't get it. It's a beautiful perfume, and if someone doesn't get it at first "sniff", they won't get it no matter what.
