Eye Shadow -L.A. Colors - Jumbo Eye Pencil - Waves
ayngemac 5/6/2013 1:52:00 PM
This is a classic example of the old adage "You get what you pay for." I was at a new dollar store that just opened up, and they had a full rack of L.A. Colors makeup. Yee ha! I bought 5 items, and this was the worst one. It's a medium blue with a silvery metallic sheet. It glides on and looks awesome, but it just doesn't set. One light swipe of your finger and it's 90% gone! I could have bought an ice cream sandwich with that dollar, and I would have saved on tax! Oh well, live and learn.

Polishes -Revlon - Enchanted

This is a very pretty medium violet with subtle fuchsia shimmer. You have to be close and in the light to pick up the shimmer. Otherwise it just looks like a regular crème. I like it, but it's not exactly original. This is a two-coater. The formula is smooth and the wear is average.

Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Moisture Twist 2-in-1 Primer + Color, Fuchsia Fusion
ayngemac 5/6/2013 1:44:00 PM
This isn't actually labeled as a lipgloss, but that's what it is, essentially. This would look a lot better on someone with fair skin. I'm an NC42, and it's just wrong. It's pink & shimmery and glowy. It feels okay and has a nice scent, but it just is not flattering on me. I picked this up at CVS because it was almost free with my coupons. I got three for 22 cents plus tax. Couldn't resist! I'd exchange it, but they didn't have any deeper colors.

Polishes -Revlon - Scented - Gum Drop #325
ayngemac 5/5/2013 3:00:00 PM
Not exactly an original, but it's just about perfect. This is a crème lilac that works on my NC42 complexion. It's almost a neutral. It's a fast-drying 2-coater, and I like the plasticky finish. Yes, it's scented when dry, but I don't care about that feature in a nail polish. The retail price at CVS is $5.99 which I think is too much, but during a BOGO sale with coupons and ECBs, it was only 25 cents.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
ayngemac 5/3/2013 5:20:00 PM
Compared to the new Sally Hansen Colorfast balm crayons, I prefer these. There are WAY more colors, they smell yummier, and they have more pigment. The SH ones barely show up at all on me. Revlon's are more expensive, but not by much, plus there are usually coupons in the paper for them anyway. I like how I can just swipe these on without precision, sans mirror, too.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Pureshine Polishing Serum
ayngemac 5/1/2013 5:26:00 PM
This is yet another clear serum that claims to make hair shiny and smooth, and it works. I've tried it both on dry and wet hair, an I am pleased with the results. It also comes in a clear bottle with a pump, so it's easy to use and see how much is left. Also it makes my coarse hair soft. I found this at CVS on sale for $2.99 (reg price: $5.99), plus there was a $1 peelie coupon on the bottle.

Mascara -Almay - Intense i-color Volumnizing Mascara - Sapphire (032)
ayngemac 5/1/2013 5:23:00 PM
Underwhelmed. This barely even looks blue, and did not provide much volume, either. It's sort of a muddy light navy, actually. I wore it for about six hours, and did not experience any smudging or flaking. I can't really complain though, since I got it for just sales tax at Walgreens during the BOGO 1/2 off sale and coupons. If you are looking for a vivid blue that pops, try Ruby Kisses. THAT is a blue mascara, and it only costs $1.99, compared to this which is $8.

Nails -Sally Hansen - Hard As Nails : Hardener
ayngemac 4/30/2013 3:58:00 PM
I'm shocked they still sell this. I remember using this way back in the 80s when I first got into polish. It does the job okay but it does not dry quickly and the mouth of the bottle is too big. It's so easy to spill. They also make a pink-tinted version, or they used to. There are worse products but there are also much better ones.

Lips -Sally Hansen - Colorfast Tint + Moisture Balm
ayngemac 4/30/2013 3:27:00 PM
I'm neutral on these. Not impressed. I got Blackberry Honey and Reddy for Anything. These are fat crayons that look like every other lipstains out on the market right now. It really annoys me, how the brands all imitate each other. I expected more color, but they are moisturizing, and they smell like chocolate. They were $4.99 at CVS which is overpriced. Avon sells a better version for 99 cents. But I had a 25% off coupon, plus two SH coupons, and $5 ECBs, so they were dirt cheap. If I paid full price, I'd return them, definitely.

Powder -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Minerals Powder Foundation
ayngemac 4/29/2013 2:34:00 PM
This works perfectly for me. I have oily skin and this gives me the coverage and matte finish I want. I use Tan for my NC42 skin. My only gripe is the container. It's too small for my kabuki brush and too much product comes out of the sifter so I lose quite a bit, but overall I love this product. I hope it's not discontinued.

Skincare - Body -Hawaiian Tropic - Aloe I.C.E.
ayngemac 4/25/2013 2:20:00 PM
They only sell this in the summer so when I see it I buy a couple of bottles to last through the rest of the year. I use this to soothe irritated skin from shaving, or from allergies. I have a lot of allergies so I often find myself breaking out in hives for all sorts of reasons. The aloe heals and the iciness numbs. Also when my legs get itchy from shaving, this is a godsend. MIRACULOUS. It's about ten bucks a bottle, but worth it.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Schick Hydro Silk Razor
ayngemac 4/25/2013 2:04:00 PM
I think this is supposed to be an improvement on the Schick Intuition, which is the women's razor that is sort of set into a cake of soap. I really liked that thing for a while, but after a while it gets messy and is more expensive than I think it's worth. This is an okay product, but really I prefer my Gillette Fusion ProGlide. It's a men's product but it feels solid and I only have to go over my legs once. I had to shave my legs twice to remove all the stubble with this thing, and it feels light. I got this for free at CVS. A $10 coupon came out of the red box scanner and I had a coupon from the paper. Regular price was $14 for the razor and two heads which I think is too expensive. My ProGlide was $10 and it also had two heads. Just because it's aimed at women, companies charge more for the same thing.

Top/Base Coats -Revlon - colorstay top coat
ayngemac 4/23/2013 4:25:00 PM
I am crazy about the Colorstay base coat. It's my Holy Grail. Since CVS was having a sale, I gave this a shot. Eh. Nothing special. It doesn't dry quickly, and it doesn't dry my polish, and it didn't make any difference in the endurance of my manicure. Will not repurchase.

Polishes -Revlon - Scented - Bubble Gum #360
ayngemac 4/23/2013 2:08:00 PM
Even though this color is not original, I'm giving it a 5. It's just perfect. The color is a vivid hot pink, but not neon, so it's not going to blind you. Application was fantastic: smooth and even. It dried fast, and it's a one coater! I especially love the plasticky, shiny finish after it dried. Yes, it does smell like bubble gum too. If only Revlon could make mascaras as good as their nail polishes....
