Sunscreen -Sofina - Perfect UV (UV cut milk Extra Block) SPF 50 + PA +++ [DISCONTINUED]

I have very oily skin and tried many sunblock products in North America. My face always breaks out! Got this in Asia and this has become my favourite! I have been using this for 3 months and so far no major breakouts for me. I find the lotion kind of dry on my skin for winter (wasn't like this in asia), so I put h20 balancing lotion first. But even with 2 layers, my face does not feel greasy at all. This sunblock also works very well as a makeup base! My face feels very smooth! I wish I have found this product earlier!

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Vitamin C Cleansing Face Polish
rated 4 of 5

This is a product from body shop that I would buy again. I use this weekly as my scrub. I prefer this one since the beads aren't that harsh. I can tell a difference in the texture of my face afterwards. Masks and makeup work better after I exfoliate with this mask. So one tube seems to last me forever.

Powder -Shiseido - powdery compact

I think the colour range is too orangey. Also there are foundation powders out there with better texture. So I will not buy again.

Palettes -Stila - Perfectly Kitten Set - Holiday 2006
rated 5 of 5

I love every single item in this set. I seldom wear eye shadow, but this is one that I can use as a highlight or just going out. The liquid shimmer was good, but I just don't like the packaging. It's just messy and not very hygienic...I just dab some on the back of my cleaned hand and use another brush to put it on. Works well as an eye highlighter too. It gives a slightly pinkish glimmer that looks pretty natural. The gloss was better than I expected. This is my first stila gloss and the texture was great. However, it doesn't have much staying power. Too bad this is more expensive in Canada. Although they lowered the price, it's still a good 54 dollars with taxes added!

Crème -Revlon - New Complexion One-Step Compact Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I have this in Ivory Beige, very surprised to find a colour for a drugstore product that perfectly matches my skin. For days where I don't feel like a full make-up, I use it as a concealer for redness or pimple marks. It works very well, so it saves me from buying concealer too! I discarded the sponge that came with it, and use the clinique superbalanced compact sponge to apply it. The result looked great and smooth! And it does have a powder-like finish. I think it's worth getting that sponge, only for 2 dollars cdn, and it's much better quality than the one that comes with the pkg. Like my other chanel powder foundation, if the face is dry, this foundation will make the flaky skin show even more! So must do exfoliation+moisture mask on dry skin days! I think this product is excellent for a drugstore product. I got it when it was on sale...only 8.50 plus it comes with the full size 2 tone-concealer...which was very very disappointing as compared to this compact makeup.

Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - Dior Addict Ultra Gloss 333 Hologram Coral
rated 4 of 5
acee 5/25/2006 4:35:00 PM

when I tried this on the back of my hand, it is a hologramic orange-pink colour, but the colour doesn't really show on my lips. It is a colour that is close to natural lip colour. As for shine, it's not very shiny...like 3 out of 5. I love the pkging the most. Texture-wise, it's quite smooth to apply and doesn't dry my lips out. I think I will buy other colours again if my lipglosses ever runs out!

Masks -Aveeno - Clear Complexion Cleansing Mask
rated 4 of 5
acee 3/6/2006 10:18:00 PM

I ran out of my lancome pure empreinte mask, so when I see this on clearance at 5 dollars, i decided to give it a try. I was just looking for a clay mask that would abosorb some oil. I think it works well in that respect. However, as for skin smoothness and pore shrinkage after use, Lancome clearly wins. I don't think this mask is bad for a drugstore brand, and i guess i will alternate this with my lancome (pore minimizing) and guerlain (less drying) cleansing masks.

Lip Gloss -Guerlain - Divinora - KissKiss Gloss 62
rated 5 of 5
acee 3/4/2006 9:37:00 AM

I got the gloss in #61, the special spring 2006 edition. It's just the best lipgloss I can find, and I regret that I hadn't found this earlier! I wasted so much money on the other glosses! The colour looks rather light pinkish on the hand, but once it goes on the lips, it gives a shiny iridescent pink, sheer enough that my natural lip colour shows thru! This lipgloss doesn't dry out the lips and won't settle in the cracks..so no obvious lines! Staying power is pretty good, without eating or drinking. I am buying a second one very soon...cuz limited edition. So far I can't find another brand that works the same in TO. Other brands are either too watery or not shimmery or have too much sandy glitter!

Masks -Laneige - Water Sleeping Pack
rated 4 of 5
acee 11/27/2005 12:02:00 AM

I got the original water sleeping pack. It was on sale...guess they were clearing it out for the new version. I put on toner, moisturizer after washing. Then the sleeping pack before bedtime. Using it every other day. After 2 weeks my fine dry lines are almost gone! It's quite good as an overnight fix for dryness...and the skin becomes softer next day. Really good pre-treatment for makeup to be done the night before. Then I just use the Guerlain purifying mask in the morning, which is not drying yet can remove some oil. Then followed by more moisture from Hydraction lotion (the lotion form is quite good for my oily skin). All together, the foundation would glide smoothly on my skin! I love all those products!

Masks -Guerlain - Issima-purifying invigorating mask
rated 4 of 5
acee 9/9/2005 11:29:00 PM

I think this is a good product for sort of prepping the skin before makeup. This doesn't absorb oil well...but does make the face really smooth for good makeup application. My powder foundation glides onto skin quite well. It doesn't dry on the face, so I can't tell if the oil is gone. There is oil in this mask....hmmm...so really questioning the oil-absorbing function.

Concealers -Biotherm - Forget It
rated 3 of 5
acee 4/10/2005 10:33:00 PM

I like the packaging since it comes in a squeeze tube, which is hygenic. It has a light texture that sinks onto the skin, and not cake at all. I use concealer only on days where i don't feel like wearing full makeup. this product is good for my 'good-skin' days, cuz the coverage is light to medium though, not enuf to cover bigger pimples though. i think i'll still use my revlon colourstay concelaer for more coverage. i wish there are more colours to choose from to match my skin better. it's good for oily skin cuz it doesn't feel oily at all. but for drier skins/in winter, better use some moisturizer on top beforehand...or else you will see all the flaking.

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Addict Light Feel Vibrant- X-Mauve
rated 5 of 5
acee 3/18/2005 10:33:00 PM

I bought x-pink and x-mauve cuz I was looking for a lipgloss-like lipstick with no mess! I love this lipstick, especially the packaging. It gives good shimmer and the colour is quite sheer, but more intense than Dior addict ultra shiny. I would put prescriptives tint balm on top for a more wet-lip look. The texture is good, but the shimmer/colour would show better if i hydrate my lips first. Would buy again if they have similar colours to these. Cuz the SA told me the colours I had were limited edition.

Liquid -Lancome - Photogenic [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
acee 3/18/2005 10:15:00 PM

I tried on a sample and loved it, so eventually got the full size. Dunno if it's my skin getting worse or if the product is aging...but I find it hard to spread evenly. It's like putting liq foundation on powder! It's sort of sticky to my face (I have oily skin) after a few hours. I have to do a clay mask and super-hydrate for it to settle on skin better. Unless I want to look really 'made-up', I rather wear my Chanel powder foundation instead. How come it doesn't come in a pump? It gets messy and non-hygienic after a while. However, this product matched my skin colour well.

Blush -Estee Lauder - Pure Fantasy Illiminating Face Powder
rated 5 of 5
acee 3/18/2005 10:05:00 PM

I don't use anything from Estee Lauder, but the colour and packaging attracted me. I use this as a blush. It says 'illuminating', but I don't really think so. I still need to put some Skinlights powder to produce that glow on the cheeks. The pink colour looks great though...cute colour. I would buy this again, but too bad it is limited edition. But at my usage rate, it will probably last for another 2 years.

Eye Makeup Remover -H20 - Dual Action Eye Makeup Remover
rated 4 of 5
acee 3/18/2005 9:59:00 PM

I got the regular size as a GWP...and the product lasts a long time. Excellent in removing eye-makeup (needs very little) and the skin feels smooth. The container is good cuz you can control how much product you need. But this stuff is pricey for eye makeup remover. Also I wish it is a colour-free product. They have many products which are blue....for the skin...hmmmm...
