Eyeliner -Sephora - Smokey Cream Liner
Olive143 11/21/2011 7:26:00 PM
I've been using a kohl eyeliner ever since I started using makeup and want to change things up a bit! I love how this stays on all day and doesn't smudge like my eyeliner pencil. What difference! It goes on very smooth. I use mostly now for when I'm going swimming.

Misc Beauty Tools -Tarte - Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler
Olive143 11/11/2011 5:30:00 PM
This review is for the gold and not silver eyelash curler pictured. Love this!! A few quick pinches gives me lifted lashes like no other. Have not used my Japonesque in months but a good alternative. Purchased this at Sephora for about $15 and came with a trial size mascara. Love using this with Maybelline Falsies Flared WP right now.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous - new formula - Caramel Glace
Olive143 10/21/2011 3:07:00 PM
I've been looking for a dupe for Clinique's Buttershines in Delovely. I love the Clinique shade but the color pay off was just ridic. It didn't last at all. So I purchased Caramel Glace at Target. Lucky magazine at times have $1 off coupons so it ended up at under $4. I find that it's the closest color to Delovely. A beigey, brown, nude but with a hint of peach on me. It's tricky to find a good nude because it's either got too much pink or mauve which is what I've been avoiding. I already have those lippies already. It's definitely not copper or too shimmery but a slight pearl sheen. On Revlon's website and the Clinique's website are both labeled as a 'pearl' shade. It's a very pretty color and doesn't wash me out. For reference I am a NC40/C4.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
Olive143 9/26/2011 12:11:00 PM
I needed an eyelid primer because I wanted the true color of my eyeshadows to show. I've never owned a primer and wanted to see if there was a difference. Now, I can never be without! Soft Ochre is opaque and has a concealer like consistancy. I've never used a primer before and noticed my eyeshadows do not stay on very long. I'm pleased with the results! Sometimes I go without any color on my lids and just use this for the brightening effect. I also have Rubenesque Paint Pot which gives me just enough warmth and love! I like to use that when I'm applying shades like MAC's All That Glitters. I imagine that the jar will last a very long time as you need only a little bit on each application. How clever of MAC to put a product out like this. I use my Paint Pots daily.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist Hairspray
Olive143 9/21/2011 2:22:00 PM
EDIT: I have to eat my words below because this hairspray is actually pretty good! I may have put this on my hair when it was still a little damp hence the 'just ok' review below. I'm going to continue to use until it runs out. Although I still don't like the scent, the flexible hold is sufficient and doesn't seem to leave my hair dull and keeps the hold to my wave until the next day. Can't beat the price either! But I really wished it came with an unscented version. First review: I purchased this because of the rave reviews here. It's just ok. It has a very light/flexible hold and will not leave a crunchy feel to your hair. I'm not a fan of the scent. It's smells kind of "artificial"? I thought it would give a little shine for my color treated hair but leaves it just dry and flat. Purchase it though if you require a light, flexible and dry hold. You can't beat the price! The bottle is super large which may slip if you have small hands. It was only a few dollars, $5 maybe. I gave it to my son to give some flex to his hair style. Don't like crunchy hair do styles on him either.

Mascara -Maybelline - The Falsies Flared Waterproof
Olive143 9/21/2011 2:13:00 PM
I wanted to try something other than my beloved L'Oreal Voluminous WP mascara. One of the MAIN differences in my opinion is that this mascara lifts my lashes and holds it there all day. Also, it's buildable and not as much flaking when retouching. The wand is fatter and curved. They're true to their claim that my lashes look like I have falsies on and has great volume. Cute scarlet purple packaging. Bottle/handle kind of on the thicker side, but nothing I can't get used to.

Styling Products -Alterna - Caviar Age-Free Protectant Working Hairspray
Olive143 9/21/2011 1:53:00 PM
I purchased this after my my stylist used it for my last hair treatment. Unlike many hairsprays I've tried which have a crunch and dull feel to them, this gave gave my hair a very flexible, light hold, leaving it soft, with just the right amount of shine. It makes my hair look so vibrant! It also safeguards chemically-treated hair and "targets the aging process"? Really? For the price it better revive my locks! I think I paid about $20 for it, but I see that it can go for $26. I'm looking for alternatives because of the price but I love everything about this hairspray! Especially the lovely clean scent. Maybe you can find something in the ingredients that helps with the aging process? Must be the caviar extract, soy or polypeptides? Powder -Stila - Illuminating Powder Foundation
Olive143 9/21/2011 1:23:00 PM
I purchased this at Ulta for about $28. Whenever I'm running low of it, the 20% off coupon from them almost always conveniently arrives so it's a great deal. This is a new type of packaging for me since it's a refillable powder you put into the Stila compact case. In any event, I'm so happy with my purchase! In the past the powder foundations I've tried were chalky, oxidized, cakey or didn't match my skin tone. Stila IPF is quite the opposite. The colors range from light to dark and thankfully for leeyao's review and Notepad, it made it easier for me to select my color (60 Watts) for my NC40/C4 skin! The texture is soft, smooth and my 60 Watts has a golden tone that matched my skin color perfectly. Another plus is that it didn't dry out my skin or age me as some powders tend to do. This is light to medium buildable coverage. HG for me!

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Lip Gloss Candi
Olive143 9/14/2011 6:28:00 PM
I was using Trixie for a few years and loved that. Then I tried Dolly which is MLBB, Sugar is a pretty nude color. I loving Candi though and my new Buxom lipgloss to wear on the daily! It's a berry/deep coral color that seems to brighten my complexion. I love the staying power and love the tint it leaves on my lips. It is a bit sticky if you put a ton on, slight tingle to it. From someone who has small lips, this does give a slight plumping effect. But nothing that will last or make a significant difference. I'm a lip gloss kind of girl and haven't found any other lip gloss that moisturizes and stays put like Buxom. Worth the price IMHO.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Argan oil
Olive143 7/20/2011 7:20:00 PM
10/21/11- purchased the 4 oz bottle for $28. It is so worth it!! My son's skin is perfect now compared to years of eczema and white dry patches on his face. Is anyone in the family has any sort of skin issue, we use this to clear it up fast. Could not say enough raves about this product! I purchased via Amazon from a company called Watts. Love! About $20 for 2 oz. It's cold pressed so has a little bit of a scent which dissapates quickly. Prefer the pump instead of the dropper for convenience sake. The best part is that it's 100% argan oil. My face before: DRY, makeup not going on properly, breaking out with itchies and rashes. Looking mighty old and I'm only in my 30's! My face now: feels like how it was when in my 20's, supple, no break outs, more balanced, makeup goes on better sometimes don't need as much, pores smaller. Love this stuff! Highly recommend.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector
Olive143 7/20/2011 1:38:00 PM
9/19/2011 - Just an addition to my review below. Sometimes, I need more coverage and I apply TheBalm/TimeBalm concealer over this. Key thing is to pat, pat pat then set with a good powder. I love MUFE HD translucent powder. Give it a light patting otherwise it will crease or look cakey. Nice thing is both products are moisturizing for my dry undereye area. 7/20/11 - This product is unlike any concealer I've used. It's a corrector but I find using it on it's own as a concealer suits me well. I've tried using another concealer over it as it suggest you do but just not working for me. It felt too thick and heavy. I find this product is thick on it's own, opaque enough and very moisturizing/emollient like. Bobbi Brown is just genius in creating this for those who have dark undereye issues! You have to do your research on how to apply and practice using it because everyone's undereye concerns are different. A little goes a very long way. I just need to put my ring finger in the pot, no sliding. That's just enough for one eye! You will love it or hate it! Thankfully this works well for me! My color is light peach. Bisque colors are definitely too pink for olive, or yellow skin tones. Believe me, I went to the counter 3x and 2 exchanges to get the right color. Concealers I've tried: (Loreal True Match - not enough coverage, moisturizing though; Benefit Boing - good coverage and used for years but similar to MAC and can be drying; MUFE - opaque but too drying and no color match for me; TheBalm - just not enough coverage; Sheercover - pretty good but don't feel like buying online)

Conditioner -TiGi - Brunette Goddess
Olive143 7/20/2011 1:00:00 PM
I purchased this along with the matching shampoo. It didn't moisturize as much as I would like but If you leave it in longer, I find it does a good job. What I do like about it is, unlike many conditioners is that it doesn't leave a build up of WAX in your hair. Which makes me believe that it's got good ingredients and will leave your hair feeling clean without the heavy residue. It's sulfate free and that's always a good thing to me. Again, love the vanilla bean/cookie scent. The scent with other brands seem too boring for me right now. (Joico, Redken, Matrix) I'll enjoy this just for fun right now because of the scent and how it should preserve the color in my hair.

Shampoo -TiGi - Brunette Goddess
Olive143 7/20/2011 12:46:00 PM
I was enticed by it's claim that it protects hair from UV rays, sulfate free and preserves color. I must agree with others that the scent is delightful! It's not overpowering, not fruity or too sweet but what I'm digging right now which is a rich vanilla, cookie scent. It's such a treat for my senses and less of a task when it's time to wash my super long hair! I believe it definitely retains my color and does a wonderful job of keeping it vibrant, less brassy. The product is very thick. Just make sure your hair is completely wet so it lathers well. Once I rinse the shampoo out, my hair seems to be a bit hard but I use Redken Volume conditioner which leaves my hair super soft and smelling great. Also, it doesn't leave a dirty feeling/residue (Paul Mitchell Color shampoo). I purchased the Antidotes Level 2 for moisture as well in this line and much love for that. I alternate between the two. I base my review on how it lathers, no wax build-up, color retention, sulfate free, scent, price and packaging. Purchased during Ulta's liter sale. This was the last one left and grabbed it! Must be very popular as there were tons of other liter brands readily available. My HG. Used previously: Suave (Color & Almond and Shea), Aussie Moist, All versions of Pantene, Sunsilk, Samy, Herbal Essense, Finesse, Tresseme, Nexus, L'Oreal, Biolage, Garnier, Bumble and Bumble, Redken, Matrix Sleek, Joico Frederic Fekkai to name what I can remember. For reference my hair is long, coarse and color-treated.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Proclaim Argan Oil - Hair Oil Treatment
Olive143 5/3/2011 7:38:00 PM
I bought this about a few months ago and didn't shortly after. However after reading some of the reviews here, I thought to give it another try. I can't seem to shake off the medicine like musky scent. Also, I feel that it wears my hair down. I'm glad it works for others but just not for me.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - KIRKLAND SULFATE-FREE SHAMPOO
Olive143 4/19/2011 12:54:00 PM
UPDATE 6/28/11 - Noticed flakes and developed itchy scalp by using this. Will not repurchase. Want to finish the bottle so I alternate between another shampoo/conditioner. Ok to use as shaving gel for my legs. First Review: Washed my hair this morning with the shampoo and conditioner set and so far my skeptical self is impressed. Consistency is thick, lathers very well and need only a small amount. Liter size for around $8 for a sulfate/paraben free, good for color, vegan, no animal testing and moisturizes. These are gems! After blowdrying, my hair feels soft, doesn't feel weighed down like it's coated with something. I have to get used to the scent! It's pretty strong!! I was almost put off by the scent when I opened the bottle at the store. I'm waiting for it to fade but something in the fragrance is what could be giving the ladies negative reactions to their skin (??). I was using Enjoy sulfate free shampoo (expensive!) and compared with this Costco brand it detangles like no other sulfate free shampoo I've tried. I have long, color-treated, wavy hair that reaches my waist. So far so good! If you are sensitive to fragrance, this may be too strong for you as I feel it may be for me.
