Shampoo -Equate - Vitamin Shampoo plus Conditioner
JenniferDeann 4/3/2009 11:14:00 AM
I purchased Equate Totally Clean shampoo at Wal-mart and it's awesome. It cleans my fine, dry hair well without drying it out. A 25 ounce bottle cost only $3.12! I have been dealing with sensitive skin and scalp issues and this does not bother me one bit, and that's huge. I took one lippie off because the scent is a little perfumey, and when I use it the day after I color my hair it actually stinks! Weird. Otherwise a real gem. Update 10/12/09: I am trying the Smoothing formula and I like it even more! Leaves my hair clean and smelling good. Update again 8/18/10: Equate changed the formula of the moisturizing formula and I didn't see the smoothing or the regular version on the shelf at all. I bought both the shampoo and the conditioner and while I like the shampoo (seems to be a bit less harsh) the conditioner makes my scalp itch and my hair frizzy.
Conditioner -Pantene - Nature Fusion Moisture Balance
JenniferDeann 3/18/2009 11:26:00 AM
I love the results I get with this conditioner. Makes my poor, overprocessed hair soft and shiny. So what's the problem? This stuff made me break out into a horrible rash! On the second day that I used it I realized my scalp was feeling itchy, but by day three my scalp, back and face were really itchy and red. Did some poking around on cosmeticscops and Calendula is basically pot marigold and that it can cause dermititis in those with allergies to ragweed and other such plants! I hope I can get my money back.
Aside from the horrible packaging (the lid is very difficult to open), I really like this conditioner. I have fine, dry hair and this makes my hair easy to comb through when wet and soft when dry. I have tried other "moisturizing" conditioners and have not had good results like I get with Aussie Moist. The soft fruity/coconut scent is very pleasant, not overdone. The consistency is a little strange right out of the bottle, but when I mix it up in my hands for a second or two, it becomes more creamy and easier to deal with. Update 8/24/10: I think Aussie changed the formula awhile back because I noticed that the "natural" ingredients are nearly last on the list now. I absolutely love the fragrance and I use it occasionally for the scent alone, but it's not moisturzing enough to use everyday on my damaged hair. I'll still repurchase, though, but it's not my main conditioner.
This shampoo smells terrible, made my hair super dry with ONE use, and the packaging is the worst. Junk.
Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Ivory Moisturizing Body Wash
JenniferDeann 3/13/2009 10:51:00 PM
I wanted to switch to using body washes after realizing bar soaps were making my skin dry, but I have discovered that I am allergic to cocamidopropyl betaine and every body wash that I have seen at the store has this. I gave this product two lippies because I really liked how gentle this was and the light fragarance was very pleasant. But after three days I was extremely itchy. Since then I have confirmed my allergy. Shampoos do this to me too, and again there aren't very many at all that don't have cocamidopropyl betaine in them. What to do...
Makes my fine hair flat, flat, flat.
I love the juicy fragrance of this body wash, but oh boy did it dry out my skin. I couldn't get moisturizer on fast enough, and my skin felt tight for hours afterwards. Demoted to hand soap use only.
Gels/Soaps -Suave - Sweet Pea and Violet Body Wash
JenniferDeann 2/25/2009 12:48:00 PM
After years of using bar soap in the shower, I realized that my skin has changed and I needed something more gentle. I went to Wal-mart last week and looked and smelled at all their choices. I ended up buying this one mainly for it's cheap price because I didn't want to commit to a $5 bottle of something else. Wow, I am amazed, and this product was less than 2 bucks. My skin hasn't felt this nice in ages. And the scent is light enough, too. (I tried a sample bottle of BBW Gardenia this morning and I can't stand the smell of myself right now, ha!) Now I can't wait to try some more of Suave's choices. Update 3/3/09: My skin has started to look flakey! I like how this has not caused my skin to break out or itch, but the flakiness is annoying. Update again 4/1/10: I kept using this anyways because it still was better than soap, but after a few more attempts over the year, my skin became red and itchy each time. I have since realized that I am sensitive to ammonium lauryl sulfate so maybe I'll try the new Cherry Blossom soon since it has sodium laureth sulfate instead.
Gels/Soaps -Ulta - 3 in 1 Shower Smoothies - Banana Bliss
JenniferDeann 2/25/2009 12:35:00 PM
I bought this when it was BOGO awhile back. I love the banana scent, but maybe the bottle is too big because mold starting growing in it! However, I was using it only as a bubble bath which I don't get to take very often. Luckily the mold was in the pump portion, so I just poured it into an empty soap pump dispenser I had and now am using it just for hand soap. Won't repurchase, though.
I like how soft this shampoo makes my hair feel (I do need an additional conditioner to get the tangles out though). But I've noticed that after several days' use my fine hair is flatter, and I lose more hair in the shower as well.
Conditioner -TRESemme - Vitamin A,C, and E Natural Conditioner
JenniferDeann 2/11/2009 7:37:00 PM
I had purchased this when I saw it for $3 and then stuck it away and forgot about it. When my beloved Pantene Classic Care was making my skin break out, I remembered I had this and began using it along with Pantene's moisturizing shampoo. I love, love this stuff. It's easier on my sensitive skin, easy to work through my hair, and easy to rinse out without making my shower floor all slippery. My hair dries nice and soft, and I couldn't be happier. My only gripe with this is the ginormous bottle that I have to deal with on a daily basis. I have seen this with a pump in the past, so I hope it comes with one again, soon. Update 3/3/09: After using this on and off for over a month, I have noticed that my hair is looking more dry and frizzy. If my hair wasn't color-treated this might be a sufficient conditioner, but for the time being I will need to move on to something else. On a side-note, when Walmart has Tresemme shampoos and conditioners with the pumps, the Naturals doesn't have one. Why?
I bought the Sheer version of this knowing my fine hair can't tolerate anything super heavy. I only used this once, but it made my hair look like I washed it with vegetable oil! Eew!
I have fine medium-long hair that is color-treated and very dry. I tried this shampoo yesterday and the results were decidedly mixed. I used this with the matching conditioner and during the process quite a bit of hair came out into my hands while still in the shower. My hair, which is usually difficult to comb out when wet because it tangles easily, combed out without much effort. While my hair felt a little smoother and softer when it was dry, my hair was dull and limp the rest of the day. So maybe this shampoo would be better suited for thicker hair.
Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Foaming Facial Cleanser - Sensitive Skin
JenniferDeann 1/7/2009 3:41:00 PM
I have very sensitive skin and this product cleans well without irritating. I now have my teenage son using this when Cetaphil dried out his skin, and his skin has improved as well. The only facial cleanser I will use/buy.
Shampoo -TRESemme - Vitamin E Moisture Rich Shampoo
JenniferDeann 12/1/2008 6:21:00 PM
I don't like the "new" formulation of this shampoo. After one use, my scalp became itchy, and my hair felt dry. The scent is pleasant, but that's about the only thing going for this product. Update 3/11/11: I don't know what happened last time, but I recently purchased again and have been using for over a week. I like it now. It cleans my hair and gives it body. It does weigh down after four or five uses, but using a clarifying shampoo fixed that problem. So for now, it's a keeper.
