Lotions/ Creams -J. R. Watkins - All-Natural Lavender Hand and Cuticle Salve
Janay 7/18/2010 7:16:00 AM
I started using this product a few weeks ago to try something other than Solar Oil on my cuticles. I'm not a huge fan of lavender fragrance and bought the product knowing that is is lavender-scented. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I like the scent, probably because it smells like authentic lavender rather than a synthetic fragrance. It really, really works well but as others said is pretty greasy and best applied just before going to bed. The consistency is like a wax with a low melting point - as soon as your finger touches the product it melts. This factor plus the packaging does not make it very portable. Like other reviewers I'm not enamored with the "tin" style packaging as it's hard to get the lid on and off when your hands are greasy! But I'm at a loss as to how to improve the packaging and all other things considered this is a terrific product.
Lotions/ Creams -J. R. Watkins - Mango Shea Butter
Janay 7/18/2010 7:04:00 AM
I like this product as much as the lemon-creme-scented one. It just smells delicious, although not exactly like a mango. The consistency is very thick, a bit much for daytime. I recently started using it on my feet, knees, elbows & hands before going to bed and it seems to work well that way. I'm wondering if Watkins is discontinuing this one - my grocery store had it marked down as a clearance item.
Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Dr. Scholl's For Her Ultra Overnight Foot Cream
Janay 7/18/2010 6:54:00 AM
I just finished a tube of this foot cream after using it regularly since early Spring to get my feet ready for sandals. This product works great on me - it made my feet feel softer almost instaneously! The consistency is pretty thick but the cream sinks into my skin quickly and does not feel greasy for long - a good thing since I apply it while getting into bed. I like the soft, fruity fragrance. I deducted one lippie for the packaging though - it's really difficult to squeeze all of the product out of the toothpaste-like tube and I'm sure some of it got wasted.
This product has done a better job than other more expensive products in managing the frizz issue and defining my waves. The price is much cheaper as well. I like the soft, clean scent and the fact that it is not an aerosol spray. With that said, it still does not hold up as well as I'd like in humid weather. So I'll keep using it until something better comes along.
Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss - Nude Lustre

This has become my daily go-to neutral lipgloss. I have fair skin, and it adds just a bit of peachy-pink color to my lips. I like that it has SPF 15. The packaging is decent as well - no problems with it spilling in my handbag. I would definitely repurchase.
Styling Products -Suave - Suave Volumizing Maximum Hold Mousse
Janay 12/13/2009 10:06:00 AM
This mousse worked as well as the salon brands I've tried. It provides lift and has a soft-sweet fragrance that is not cloying (much better than Suave's shower gels!). A little goes a long way or my hair gets crunchy. Another good reason to use it sparingly is that it contains both silicones & alcohols which can dry out the hair. I've been using it for a few months and have not noticed any adverse effects on my hair's texture. Will repurchase.
Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Skintimate Moisturizing Cream Shave - Dry Skin
Janay 10/29/2009 8:36:00 PM
This shaving cream works great for getting a close shave. I agree with previous posters to use it sparingly or it will clog the shaver. The fragrance is softly sweet and disappears after drying off. Only gripes I have are the price is on the high side, and it is difficult to squeeze the last bit of precious product out of the container when it is almost empty.
Awesome antiperspirant/deodorant! It is incredibly effective and long-lasting. I wear this everyday except with colored sleeveless tops as it leaves a white residue (deducted one lippie for that).
Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
Janay 10/29/2009 6:35:00 PM
Best eye shadow primer I've used, hands down. I have very deep-set eyes with oily eyelids and am lucky to get eye shadow to last more then four hours. With this primer potion my eye shadow lasts 18+ hours. It's awesome to finally wear dark eye shadows without having to constantly check a mirror to touch up my eyes. I deducted one lippie for the bad container design, but I made the most of the situation by slitting the container open and transferring the product to an empty lip gloss pot - it's great that I'm still on my first container after 10 months, especially with the relatively high price. I hope they never discontinue this product!
Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
Janay 10/29/2009 5:28:00 PM
This is my HG facial sunscreen. I've been wearing it throughout the summer for outdoor activities which have me in the sun for several hours and have not developed any noticeable color. My face, which is prone to breakouts, has not broken out any more than usual. I like that it is practically fragrance-free and works well underneath my makeup.
I found my HG body sunscreen! I've been wearing this sunscreen all summer for 6-hour long volunteer work sessions, many of which are in completely sunny areas. I've got no tan lines to show for it. The sunscreen has a light/medium-weight lotion-like consistency that moisturizes my skin as well. It is practically fragrance-free and therefore does not attract bugs or clash with any fragrances I may wear. The tube has a warning that the sunscreen may stain some fabrics but I've not had that problem.
Scrubs -Softsoap - Moisturizing Body Wash Coconut Scrub
Janay 8/13/2009 10:00:00 PM
I really like the coconut fragrance - it's pretty real for a product so cheap. This product is moderately moisturizing and works well with my acne-prone skin. The scrub part of the body wash is useless, though - I think it's a bit of false advertising and deducted one lippie. But it's a great buy overall, and one bottle has lasted me a long time.
Gels/Soaps -Softsoap - Pink Grapefruit Splash- body wash
Janay 8/11/2009 8:45:00 PM
This is my new HG body wash for summer. It smells like real grapefruit, has a light consistency, lathers well and is crazy cheap. I highly recommend trying it if you have not already.
This product worked OK for my wavy hair but didn't impress as much as it should for the price. I just finished a bottle and found that it works best when applied to wet hair. There is also a fine line between applying too much and not enough, and it took a few applications to figure it out - too much and you get crunchy hair, too little and you get no results. But when applied correctly it gives me well-defined waves with very little frizz. The fragrance is softly sweet. The product is an aerosol which isn't the best thing for the environment, and it contains alcohols and silicones which could dry out the hair. But it's the best curl enhancer I've tried so far.
This is such a complex color! I really, really like it, and I usually dislike light colors on my nails. I've been wearing this color for two days and keep stopping to stare at my nails. I like how the color changes with different lighting and viewing angle - very cool. I started with two coats but added a third to give a bit more coverage and conceal a few streaks. If you are not into girly pinks but want a lighter nail color for the summer months, give this one a try.
