Styling Products -Clairol - Totally Twisted Curl Boosting Mousse
rated 2 of 5

This mousse comes in a tall, sleek purple can, and comes out very light and airy, though the product tends to come out quickly, so I need to be careful about that since I only use a small amount. The scent is lavender & jade, and it smells divine. My hair is fine, brown, shoulder length and non-chemically treated, but I do blow dry the waves out of it since it tends to get frizzy. I have not used this product yet per the instructions, so I'm not sure what it would do to my natural waves, but it looked very soft, shiny & full after I blew it dry. I also used some on my 4 year old son's wavy hair this morning and let it air dry, and it did seem to bring out the soft waves in his hair. For just over $3 at Target or Wal-Mart, you can't go wrong. edit 1/17/07- I can't tell if this or the shampoo is drying out my hair, but I'm going to stop using it

Conditioner -Clairol - Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
renia22 12/11/2006 1:18:00 PM

This conditioner is very light, so light that I don't think it moisturizes my hair that much at all. It does smell good, though. Probably good for someone with oily, fine hair.

Skincare - Body -Yves Rocher - Arnica Hand and Nail Cream

You can get this for a very good price on sale ($2-$3). It moisturizes well and is fast absorbing while still leaving hands soft. The smell really gets to me, though, and I just can't get past it, so I won't be buying it again.

Shampoo -Clairol - Degunkify

Love this new line. This iced pineapple & cotton leaf clarifying shampoo smells great & leaves my fine, virgin hair nice & clean without being too drying. At first I didn't notice any tingling, so I shampoo a second time & leave it in while shaving my legs, and the tingling action seems to be activated during the second shampoo. Great scent, price & results.

Shampoo -Pantene - Pantene Restoratives Anti-Breakage Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
renia22 10/22/2006 7:08:00 PM

This shampoo works well on my fine, virgin, slightly dry hair. It smells a bit too perfume-y and the tube leaks out product as soon as you pop it open, but the results are good, so only one lippie off for that. This shampoo leaves my hair clean & shiny without sacrificing body or bounce. I'm not sure how well it would work for someone with chemically processed or very dry hair, but for my hair type it worked well. Would buy again.

It builds up and makes my hair look dirty after a while

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Drama Clean refreshing shampoo
rated 5 of 5
renia22 10/21/2006 8:31:00 PM

This is a great shampoo for normal hair. Mine is on the fine side, however it also has a tendency to get dried out (I blow dry, but I don't color or chemically treat it), so I need to be careful about what I use on it. This shampoo I alternated with the hello hydration, which was a tad too moisturizing for every day for me, and I had good results. This shampoo smells great, lathers well, and rinses clean. Would buy again. update 3/24/07- I bought another bottle of this & have been using it daily, with excellent results (I even skip the conditioner & my hair has been fine with it). This shampoo is marketed as a daily use shampoo, not clarifying, so if your hair is fine or oily you may do well with using this daily.

Shampoo -Pantene - ICE SHINE
rated 2 of 5
renia22 10/19/2006 11:34:00 PM

Gotta hand it to Pantene for the great advertising & product name selections, etc. I've been dying to try this, even though the smell of pantene & the line in general isn't my favorite. Something about a shampoo called 'ice shine' seemed like it would be fabulous & make my hair nice & shiny. It ended up being just a basic shampoo. Cleans well, and that's about it. If anything, it seems a bit drying. Nothing 'ice shine' about it. I probably wouldn't repurchase.

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Vitamin E Moisturizing Nail & Cuticle Oil
rated 2 of 5
renia22 10/18/2006 2:11:00 PM

Oh my.....I've been using this consistantly for I don't even know how long now. My nails and cuticles tend to get dry, especially in the winter, and I have tried all sorts of products to restore or even temporarily mask this problem. After reading all of the great reviews here, I was sure that this cuticle oil would do the trick. At first I thought maybe I was just not using it enough, so I stepped the frequency up a bit. That didn't help either. It just seems to be a thin, runny oil that doesn't absorb well. Maybe I just need something stronger. The shikai borage hand lotion seems to be helping, so I'll stick with that instead. Unfortunately, this just didn't do much for me at all & I would not repurchase.

Concealers -Rimmel - Clear Complexion Coverstick
rated 3 of 5
renia22 10/8/2006 11:17:00 AM

Average concealer. Doesn't cover very well, goes on a bit dry & I didn't notice much in the way of skin clearing. I'll finish the tube, though, because it is okay. I prefer the maybelline cover stick to this, which covers well without making break-outs any worse, and has a better color selection.

Lotions/ Creams -Shi Kai - Borage Dry Skin Therapy
rated 3 of 5
renia22 10/7/2006 11:06:00 PM

This is an unscented lotion with borage oil with a thicker consistency. It absorbs quickly & makes my skin soft. However, I do have to use it often, the moisturizing effects do not last. Does not heal the cracks I get around my thumbs during the cold wonter months. Also I tried it on my face & it breaks me out, I think because of the dimethicone. Rates 2 on cosmeticdatabase.com (low hazard). You can get this in the 8 ounce pump bottle for around $10; 16 ounce for about $20; the hand cream is around $9. It's more expensive at Whole Foods & cheaper at vitacost or iherb. They have expanded the line to include eye cream, cleaner, foot cream & a few other products.

Shampoo -Aussie - Mega Shampoo [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
renia22 10/7/2006 10:44:00 PM

This shamppo is decent, but way too softening for my hair. My hair is shoulder length, fine, and the ends and surface tend to get dry if I use the wrong product. I think it's the silicones in this shampoo that make it too soft and flat, like I didn't rinse properly when actually I rinsed quite well. Funny, but the clairol hello hydration and pink sunsilk have silicones too, but I've used entire bottles of those without a problem with build-up. Maybe this just doesn't mesh with my hair type. It smells okay & is inexpensive, so no big deal that it didn't work out for me. I'd still use it in a pinch if my hair was too dry.

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Balsam and Protein Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
renia22 10/7/2006 10:38:00 PM

This shampoo caught my eye when I saw it on sale at the grocery store for only .69 cents, so I picked up a bottle to try. My hair is on the fine side, shoulder length, and 'virgin' (though I do occasionally use henna, which washes out). The issue that I have with my hair is that it is on the fine side, but the ends and surface tend to dry out, so it's hard to find hair products that don't either dry it out further or make it flat. This shampoo actually works very well for my hair. It makes it soft, shiny and clean feeling, yet it still has body. Nice balsam scent, too. The only thing that I noticed is that it doesn't lather very well, so I had to shampoo twice. For .69 cents, that's no biggie. Overall, a decent product. Works better than some of the shampoos that cost 10 times as much, if not more. I'd buy it again. edit 10/23/06- after about a week or two, I started to notice build-up. Also, the smell started to get to me. Three lippies total for an average product

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Tropical Colada Body Lotion
rated 2 of 5
renia22 9/23/2006 5:00:00 PM

Well at first it reminded me of the coco cabana, which I like (a mix of pineapple, bananas & coconut). This one smells similar, but it's supposed to have a rum scent added to it. Unfortunately, it gives it this strange after smell & I just don't like it at all.
