Makeup Brushes -Urban Decay - Wonder Brush
MAChostage 6/19/2008 12:31:00 PM
While this brush gets lots of love on this board, and overall really is a good brush, I suppose, I've actually not quite figured out how it will best serve me. I can see this being a good lip brush, but I personally prefer one that is retractable and can be carried with me. I can also see it being a good brush for concealer. Outside of these two uses, I can't see using it for much else, except maybe lining the eye. I rarely reach for this brush and have some regrets in purchasing it, but only because I can't really find a use for it.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Blaze
MAChostage 6/16/2008 2:33:00 PM
I absolutely love this color! The previous review described it well, but I disagree with her about the texture, as mine has the usual outstanding UD smoothness. Pigmentation and wear are great, as always.

Fragrances -Clean - Clean
MAChostage 6/16/2008 8:13:00 AM
This product is pure hype. I bought it about two years ago, along with its companion, Clean Sweet Layer, and regretted the purchase from day one. It smells really soapy, overwhelmingly so. What a waste of (a lot of) money!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Rush
MAChostage 6/13/2008 7:34:00 AM
One of two new Urban Decay colors (the other being Blaze), its official description is "medium coppery bronze". I guess I can see what they're describing, but this color looks to me to be more of a darker gold, with a hint of khaki. However you describe the color, it's a nice addition to UD's already awesome lineup of colors. The texture, pigmentation and staying power are all outstanding, as usual.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals Indelible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black Cherry

I ditto all of the positive reviews here, the color descriptions are spot on. Creamy, goes on like a dream! This is the color eyeliner that I have long looked for as well.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals eyeshadow in Black Cherry
MAChostage 6/11/2008 7:12:00 PM
Like a previous reviewer, this is the shade I wish MAC's Beauty Marked had been. If you've ever eyed Beauty Marked but haven't purchased it yet, buy this instead (unless you like a more blackened color). Also, as a side note, the product in the picture that a previous reviewer posted appears lighter than this actually is IRL.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Mad Minerals Eyeshadow in Linen
MAChostage 6/11/2008 7:37:00 AM
The MAD Minerals description of this color: "light beige with a touch of rose shimmer".I believe that Linen is an acceptable (pretty close) dupe for MAC's pigment in Your Ladyship. The only differences I've noticed: Your Ladyship has a very slight bit more gold to it and is a tiny bit more sparkly. These differences, however, are negligible, IMO. The only reason why I wouldn't buy a full size of Linen is because I already have Your Ladyship, which I dearly love. If you don't own Your Ladyship and you like it, get this.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals Eyeshadow in Really
MAChostage 6/10/2008 8:02:00 AM
Really is "soft medium pink shimmer loaded with gold". It has a duochrome quality that flashes mostly pink. I would probably use this color mostly as a brow or inner corner highlight, but it might work on the lid. The only reason why I wouldn't buy this again is because the sample I purchased is generous and, based on how I plan to use it, it'll last me.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals Eyeshadow in Ponder
MAChostage 6/10/2008 7:56:00 AM
I am writing this review after my first purchase of MAD Minerals eyeshadow samples. Ponder is a matte color and is described on the MAD Minerals website as "creamy plum raisin toned brown", but in actuality on me it is almost the color of my eyelids (I'm NC 43-45 in various MAC foundation formulas). I had to build the color up on this one to get it to show. I could see a lighter toned person using this as a blush.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals Eyeshadow in Chocolate Grapes
MAChostage 6/10/2008 7:50:00 AM
I am writing this review after my first purchase of MAD Minerals eyeshadow samples. Chocolate Grapes is described by MAD Minerals as "rich brown with flashes of purple", and appears matte (the website says it's semi-matte, but I see no sparkle or other texture in this other than matte). This is a decent color, but be forewarned that you have to be careful in application because it can quickly go muddy/ruddy/bruisey on you. It took a little work to get this color the way I wanted it, but I don't have a color quite like this in anything else so I have no regrets buying the sample. It didn't knock my socks off enough, however, to make me want to immediately order a full size.

Polishes -Sinful - Dream On
MAChostage 6/7/2008 10:50:00 AM
Ok, where was I when word got out that this polish would dry matte? This is my major disappointment with this product (and for the record I made the purchase prior to seeing these reviews). I'm definitely not a matte polish person so, when first dry, I don't care for this at all. I gave this product 2 lippies because the color you see in the bottle is gorgeous, and if you want it shiny you can make it that way. The store display did exactly what it should have by reeling me in as soon as I saw it. All those bottles of bright, SHINY, knock-your-socks-off polishes! The color in the bottle is very beautiful, you'll just have to use a good, high quality, high shine topcoat with this if you want it truly bright and shiny.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Fairylite
MAChostage 5/28/2008 3:31:00 PM
Fairylite to me leans more to the pinkish side. I really don't see a comparison to Naked or Provence pigments with this one. It seems to be aptly named, as it reminds me of what you'd see flowing behind a fairy flying through the air (think Tinkerbell). It has a beautiful glow and the sparkles in it are just right. Thus far I've only used Fairylite as a browbone highlighter, but I'm going to venture out and try it full on the lid.

Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Dorian
MAChostage 5/28/2008 3:17:00 PM
The only BPAL fragrances I wear regularly are Scherezade, Persephone and Vixen. I received an imp of Dorian a while back and instantly loved it, but hadn't gotten around to ordering a bottle. Dorian now fills the fourth spot in my regular BPAL scent arsenal and will be worn mostly during the warmer months. I do not personally smell anything "masculine" with Dorian, only a sexy sweetness. It is definitely at least imp worthy, IMO.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Secret Service
MAChostage 5/19/2008 1:45:00 PM
HG crease brown! UD knows how a matte shadow should behave and feel -- the texture is just *perfect*! MAC has come close with its Matte2 shadows and, even though MAC is hands down my favorite brand for eyeshadows, UD also does an excellent job in the eye shadow department. Secret Service is a beautiful, matte, medium brown that is a pleasure to use. It's just so smooth and buttery! I bought this specifically to use in the crease, but I might just have to check out some of their other mattes. I'm not typically a matte shadow person so this is saying a lot! ETA: Why oh why did UD discontinue this color???

Mascara -Urban Decay - Big Fatty Mascara
MAChostage 5/19/2008 1:37:00 PM
I didn't bother reading any reviews on this product before I purchased, all I knew was when I heard that it came in a Black Cherry color I had to have it! There are definitely better mascaras out there, without a doubt. But I sure haven't seen one in this color, and that's what I do really like about it. For me, the fact that I have to do a little extra work to get this applied properly and with even color coverage, and having to use my trusty lash comb to make sure my lashes are in order, outweighs the fact that it's just an "alright" formula. If this were a color I wore on a daily basis I might feel differently, but I only use this on a weekend or at a time when I'm not at work. It's a fun product!
