Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Clean Oil Control Pressed Powder

This is a really fine and soft powder which gives a soft matte finish and hides pores. I really like it. Just need to give it a bit longer to see how well it lasts over a 12 hour shift! So far very happy that it gives a nice matte look over tinted moisturizer and I don't need anything else. Nice n easy.

Tinted Moisturizer -Marcelle - Sheer Tint Fluid Moisturizer SPF 15
vickibetty 3/21/2012 7:45:00 PM
Initially bought the lightest colour and thought how nice the coverage and finish was. Then I went and bought the cafe au lait based on a makeup alley review and I just love it!!!! I used instead of moisturizer with a little pressed powder and that's all. Such a nice smooth finish and even though I have fair skin the cafe au lait makes me look super healthy and brings out my eye colour. This stuff smooths on so easily and covers all kinds of minor veins and flaws. My only complaint is that it feels a bit greasy and the nice finish didn't last :(

Foundations -Christian Dior - Nude Compact Gel - Natural Glow Creme-Gel makeup

I originally wrote an amazing review for this but after a few days I've completely changed my mind! It IS very sheer, but it doesn't stay on your face. Constantly having to touch up is not an option for me, and if I do touch up with this it just gets heavier and oilier. Can't imagine trying to live with this on a hot day. And I have dry skin! It made my eye bags look puffier too. Sigh, it was soooo expensive :(

Foundations -Cover Girl - Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation

I'm on the fence about this so far. It covers quite well and a little goes a long way, but does leave you a bit "dewy" which sometimes looks nice and sometimes not. I feel like it might be confused with oily lol. It's funny because when I tested this on my hand it looked very matte. Just goes to show that you shouldn't test a product on your hand! Anyhoo, I'm gonna keep using it for a while and see if I can make up my mind.

Grrrr. Once again I fall victim to the hype. This stuff manages to be heavy while at the same time covering nothing. I'm left with a shiny sticky face. Oh, and it smells horrible too. Made me look 10 years older. The only upside is that I can use it on my legs in the summer!

Pressed Powders -Revlon - Colorstay Pressed Powder with SoftFlex
vickibetty 2/23/2012 11:48:00 PM
Update, while I love this powder it just doesn't stay on. I don't know how it can call itself long lasting. Apart from only having a 2 hour face life everything else is good. Finally the replacement for Revlon's Colorstay Mineral Powder that I've been searching for! After Revlon changed their mineral powder to the Aqua formula, I was bereft and lost, with a shiny face. I tried all kinds of liquids and powders which left me brown/orange/cakey/nude/irridescent/oily/flaky or wrinkly. Then it dawned on me, the penny dropped. Why not just try the Colorstay pressed powder? So I did, and yay!! I use it alone on top of moisturiser and at last I have light, even, coverage which does not scare me when I catch sight of myself in the mirror. No pores, no shine. Yay! My work here is done.

Tinted Moisturizer -Vichy - Lumineuse - Tinted Moisturizer
vickibetty 2/3/2012 1:32:00 PM
Crikey, extremely heavy and dark. I bought the lightest shade in 01 and it was really really dark!! Anyhoo, I used it on the beach along with some lip balm and managed to pull it off I think. Way too heavy coverage to call itself a tinted moisturizer. More like a moisturizing foundation....

Foundations -Lise Watier - Teint Lift Anti-Ride SPF 20
vickibetty 2/3/2012 1:21:00 PM
Guessing by the other reviews, this product has been around for a while! In my continuing search for the perfect base I splashed out on this. I'm liking it so far. Its a good match to my fair skin and looks really natural. No sheen and minimised pores, bags and wrinkles. I set it with the Lise Watier transluscent mineral powder and my eyeliner stayed put too. I think it wears off kinda fast though at the end of the day (12 hour shift) it had pretty much worn off. But I can tolerate that for not looking like I'm wearing 10 layers of foundation and eyeliner down my cheeks. For once, i might be able to stick with this until its finished!

Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder (ALL)
vickibetty 2/3/2012 1:07:00 PM
Actually pretty good for the amazingly cheap price. Used this in transluscent over tinted moisturizer and it worked pretty well. It feels cheap and rough and it doesn't last long though but it really is matt with no annoying sparkles. Old ladies like me shouldn't do sparkles. Natural looking. Good for the purse.

Powder -Vichy - Aera Teint Mineral Podwer Foundation
vickibetty 2/3/2012 1:02:00 PM
Good coverage but not very natural looking. A bit too orangey for fair skins. And once again, the luminous, sheen thing is going on. Highlights the pores and wrinkles. Expensive mistake. Gonna give it to my teenagers lol.

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
vickibetty 2/3/2012 12:56:00 PM
This is a nice mineral powder with good coverage but once again, it has a very very slight luminosity to it which over emphasises the wrinkles around eyes and shows up pores. It is so hard to find a mineral powder with no luminosity or sheen. Stays on all day. I used to use this in my younger days but maybe I'm just getting too wrinkly for powders now! Probably a good choice for younger skins who just want to have a natural but finished look.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
vickibetty 2/3/2012 12:45:00 PM
Average price, average performance. Excellent coverage, easy to apply and blends well. Pores don't look too bad. However, you can tell you are wearing make up and I am constantly on the look out for a totally natural look. This might be nice for a night out but not natural enough for harsh lighting or broad daylight. Good for the price but not exactly life-changing.

Powder -Revlon - ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup
vickibetty 12/28/2011 5:10:00 PM
I am so disappointed in Revlon. Colorstay Aqua is a horrible let down from the original Colorstay Mineral Powder. I used to use the original mineral powder all the time. It gave the right amount of light coverage and minimised pores. The Aqua is super shiny. It exgagerates every pore and wrinkle and makes me look like I'm walking around with a shiny layer of moondust on my face. I hate it and cannot understand why Revlon had to change a perfectly good formula. Thumbs down.
