Conditioner -Dove - Damage Therapy Conditioner Intensive Repair

I'll keep this short and sweet...only because I'm truly at a loss for adjectives to describe this stuff. Best conditioner I've ever used at any price. Period.
This is such a lovely highlighter for medium to darker skin tones. It doesn't really shimmer, per say....it "glows"...beautifully. I'm at an age where, as much as I'd love to, I just can't wear shimmer on my cheeks anymore. But I can wear this. It's a step and half down from a traditional highlighter and imparts such a pretty light to the tops of my cheeks. As another reviewer mentioned, It also works beautifully to bring subtle light under or over any matte eyeshadow (or, by itself) to light up my eyes...and even my cupids bow. There's definetly a glow in this product. I can't see using it all over my face as a powder, but I think younger skin might pull it off. It's a little hard to describe the effect, but for a $3 it's absolutely worth checking it out. Oh, and it's so soft...like butter. It would take years to finish this...it's a huge compact, but if I ever did get through it all I would most definetly repurchase. I use it every day and haven't made a dent in 2 months. Wet n Wild has done it again!
If I hadn't received a sample packet of this foundation I never would have tried it. I always thought Kat Von D MU products were for the young and trendy. I'm not even sure what possessed me to try it because the shade was way too light. But I was playing around in my MU and thought I'd try mixing a little with my regular foundation. The finish was almost perfect and the lasting power was surprisingly good. Off to Sepora to get shade matched (#54) (NW30 in MAC) and try a generous sized sample. PERFECTION! Back I went to get the full size. I've tried too many foundations to count, and there are some that I love dearly, but I sincerely doubt I'll ever be using any of those again. Why would I when this makes my 50 year old skin look airbrushed, luminous, a little matte (but not overly), and, well...perfect! It covers every bit of discoloration, minimizes my pores, and brings my face to life. How on earth did she manage to formulate a foundation that covers so perfectly yet goes practically undetectable? You can't see this on my skin...I mean it looks just like skin! I'm on the drier side and this feels moisturizing but still leaves me with a semi matte, slightly dewy finish...go figure. And it gets even better looking as the day wears on...how is that possible? I use my flat top Sigma F80 brush to apply and only need the smallest bit to cover one section of my face at a time. Then I set it with a little bit of HD powder and my face is transformed. My DH, who rarely compliments my MU said I looked so "fresh and pretty" after I'd been wearing this foundation for about 9 hours. This is truly a long lasting finish. No false advertising here! It's everything and more I'd hoped every other foundation I've ever used would be. Ladies and gentleman, this is a must try! Dont even think about skipping this one...especially the more mature. Please don't let the full coverage aspect scare you. If you're worried about too much coverage just use a little bit and sheer it out for a beautiful, long-lasting finish!
Lotions/ Creams -Curel - Itch Defense Skin Balancing Moisture Lotion
trisheee 8/24/2012 1:07:00 PM
After trying just about every other brand of lotion (and even a couple from this brand) I had almost given up on trying to find a lotion that works for me. This Itch Defense is the one! Wow...I'm blown away by it's effectiveness and how well it hydrates my extremely dry sensitive skin without causing further irritation. When I say hydrate I mean velvety moist and perfectly smooth skin. It's thick and rich, but not greasy, and you don't need 10 minutes to rub it all in...A couple swipes and you're done. Most creams and lotions cause me to breakout in rashes all over and itch like crazy...but not this one. Ive had unsightly scales on my shins for as long as i can remember and nothing would improve it. After using itch defense for a week that's all gone! I felt like crying when I noticed how nice my legs look without all that scaliness! And I'm so happy it's completely fragrance free! If you have problem skin or just want a lotion that will make your skin baby soft and silky this is an absolute must try! It has transformed my skin. I'm tempted to buy a case of this stuff and live in fear they'll discontinue it!
One of the best transition colors I've ever found! I recently purchased this shadow and wonder what took me so long. Guess I thought I already had too many that looked similar and figured it's easily duped. It's not. Ive been reaching for this everyday and find it provides a beautiful warmth to almost every look I try. Doesn't matter if Im wearing warm or cool tones...it works! For reference, I'm NW30. I like to wear this in the crease with a light wash of color on the lid for an easy, neutral, and polished day look. I also like to start with this color in my crease and blend it up toward my brow bone and find that any colors used after this just blend effortlessly with any look I'm going for. Soft brown is one of those veristle colors that harmonizes any look I'm trying to achieve. For me, this gets HG status and is a definite repurchase!
I don't think I've ever rated a product all 5 lippies across the board, but in IMO this palette is worthy of such a rating...higher, even!! 5 for packaging, 5 for price, and in a heartbeat I'd buy it again!! If you like neutral matte shadows you're gonna LOVE this! 24 shades of wearable, pigmented, silky smooth gorgeousness. This palette also includes 2 beautiful blushes...a bright plummy pink and a warm peachy shade. Both wearable and pigmented with just a whisper of sheen. This is double decker (durable black plastic) palette about the size of a 4 x6 index card and about 1-1/2" thick. Perfect for traveling. There are 18 neutral shades of browns, taupes, beiges and highlight colors on the first tray, and a pullout bottom tray with two blushes and 6 jewel toned shadows...purples, blues, and green...all on trend for Fall, that can also be worn as liners. Every shadow in this palette apply buttery smooth and are blendable without getting muddy. And though it's labeled "neutral" there are countless looks you can create with this superstar! I wouldn't be surprised if this got the kind of attention the UD naked palettes got. I purchased mine at ULTA for $17.99...but used my 3.50 coupon and paid $13.50 for it. An insane deal for a truly remarkable matte palette. No doubt these are going to sell out fast! Huge rave!
Treatments (Eye) -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream
trisheee 7/26/2012 4:20:00 PM
I had used this eye cream every night, right after cleansing, for about 8 weeks and then stopped for about 2 weeks. At the time I thought it really wasn't making much difference in the fine lines and crepyness around my eyes. But looking back I remember thinking to myself that my eyes and concealer application were looking pretty good. While applying my concealer the other day I noticed the lines and dryness around my eyes appearing a lot more pronounced...especially after concealer. Is it because I stopped using this? You know how you don't know how something is working until you stop using it? This is that "something"! It works! Pure and simple. It doesn't burn or irritate my sensitive eyes and I didn't notice any unpleasant fragrance. I'm surprised at how well this eye cream performed and plan on purchasing the night moisturizer for the whole face, as well. Will report back in a couple months with a full review on the product. Would I buy this eye cream again? Absolutely! I'm a faithful user from here on out.
Makeup Brushes -Sigma - F80 Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki (was SS197)
trisheee 7/25/2012 2:23:00 PM
I'd give this brush 10 stars if I could! I received this free from sigma in their IMATS goodie bag in LA a couple months ago, and probably would have overlooked it had it not been a gift. All I can say is WOW! I can't imagine what could possibly be better for applying liquid foundation than this brush. It turns even my least favorite foundations into a perfectly airbrushed look, and It doesn't shed...at all. I plan to purchase a couple more and will use these forever. I wouldn't care if they were $100 a piece, I'd gladly pay any price for this amazing brush!! Thank you Sigma!!
I have to say this chubby little dual sided pencil is fast becoming my favorite brow product. The color matches my grayish dark brown eyebrows perfectly. I think it's a universal shade and would suit most brow colors. The staying power is great and my brows look completely natural. But what I like best about this pencil is the highlight shade on the other end. It's a perfect pinkish/nude matte that has a multitude of uses, i.e, highlighting around the brow (its intended purpose) for a nice neat and crisp edge, brightening up the lower waterline (I LOVE IT FOR THIS!), highlighting the inner and outer corner of the eyes, and to highlight the cupids bow. It can even be used as a concealer. To me, it's a cross between Benefit's eyebright and Still's topaz pencil, respectively. I found mine at ULTA for around $10. I would definetly repurchase when I run out but I've been using this everyday for the past eight months and there's still at least half left. I had originally tried the Anastasia pencil just like this one, but honestly, to me there's no difference in performance. I actually prefer the NYX pencil...and it's a lot more affordable! A great little find!
I bought every color I could find during Ulta's sale last week for $1! Yes one dollar! They normally sell for $8. Who hoo...I love a good bargain! But I'd gladly pay full price for these. After swatching a tester on my hand I knew I had to have one in every color. These are fabulous liners. What more is there to say except maybe the color selection is outstanding! I'm really into wearing a pop of color (along my lower lash line) with neutral shadows lately and these little gems work exceptionally well for this. Their staying power is phenomenal and they don't irritate my eyes...even when tight-lining. Will definetly repurchase.
I searched all over for my shade and finally found it at RiteAid. I wanted so badly to like this foundation but after trying it for a week it's just not for me. I loved the finish at first, but after a few hours my dry skin looked like a shiny grease ball! I tried different application techniques and various brushes, sponges and setting powders but I always got the same result...super shiny face as the day wore on. I'm so disappointed because the color match was perfect! I don't get it...my skin is not oily to begin with and I've never had a problem like this with other foundations. I'm sticking to my CG tone rehab. That one surprised the heck out of me and I love everything about it!
I almost...almost returned this to ULTA because as an eyelid primer I think it's just okay. Does what it's supposed to do but I can get the same effect for $3 with ELF's mineral primer. But hold the phone...I tried this under my eyes before my concealer (I use and swear by Maybelline age rewind treatment concealer in the "brightening shade) with a super light dusting of translucent powder and OMG, my fine lines disappeared along with my very dark circles! If I could scream this from the roof tops I would! I look like a different person when after applying this combo of products together. In fact, my husband kept telling me how great I looked all day the first time I tried it. And the very best part is that it lasts (for me) all day. No touchups needed. It's amazing how much better you feel about yourself when your under eyes look rested and not spackled! Seriously, the look brightens my whole face. Stellar stuff!
Foundations -Cover Girl - Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation
trisheee 6/28/2012 11:48:00 PM
I tried this quite by accident. The walgreens SA has a big box of testers for just about every product and while looking for something else I spotted this in the box and swatched it on the back of my hand. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful finish but knew I'd need to try it on my face for a real result. I bought it. Tried it. LOVE IT! I'm incredibly hard to match (somewhere between NW30/35 but found the perfect shade in "soft honey". I waited a couple weeks to review this because I see quite a few reviewers liked it at first but fell out of love with it. I'm more enamored of this foundation the more I wear it! For reference my skin is mature with a few fine lines around my eyes and some unevenness, from my early days in the sun, and smallish pores. But for the most part my skin is looking pretty good....knock on wood. This foundation evens everything out and leaves the most believable dewy finish while still looking a little matte...not overly, though. It can be sheered out for minimal coverage but even with my heavy hand it looks natural. The finish lasts all day if I set it with a little powder. I alternate between Maybelline's age rewind perfecter and ELF's HD powder. I get a perfect finish with either one. This is heavily fragranced but it's a pleasant smell. I'm typically sensitive to fragrance but this one doesn't bother me at all. The first day i wore this my 21 year old daughter raved about my skin and said i was "glowing and radiant". This is a really great foundation if you're in the market for one and want to try something else. It's my new HG!
Finally a mascara that will hold a curl! There are many mascaras I use, and love but after trying this one I'm hard pressed to go back to using any of the others. I'm tempted to trash them all...except for Jordana when I need jet black lashes. This One by One does everything a mascara should; adds a bit of volume, lengthens a ton and seperates beautifully. This doesn't smudge, flake or sting my eyes and it holds a curl like nobody's business. Best of all it's easy to remove with my aveeno foaming face wash. This stuff is perfection in a tube!! The search for my HG mascara is finally over!
I spotted this shade at CVS for 75% off and had to try it. Guess that means they're discontinuing it. I have at least 20 Revlon super lustrous lipsticks, and LOVE every one of them. but this is my first moon drops l/s. Ive passed them by because of the smell. Honestly, it's overpowering at first but does fade after a few minutes. This shade is quite lovely.. a brightish coral with a bit of pink. It works well with my nw30 skin tone for a perfect pop of color when I do a neutral eye. When I want to mute it a little I'll top it with Revlon's rose gold lip gloss (also being discontinued) for a knockout combination. Seriously lovely! But my very favorite way to wear this lipstick is as a blush. Ohhhhh, it's SO pretty! Goes on smoothly with a blush brush and no streaks. And the flush it gives my cheeks is absolutely beautiful! I've searched heaven and earth for the perfect blush and who would have thought it would be a lipstick!? If you love bright corals this is definetly worth a look...especially at a 75% discount!
