Polishes -OPI - Metallic 4 Life

Right off the bat I started off with a thin coat of china glaze liquid leather over my base coat. It was not an opaque coat but just enough to give a black background but preserve the jelly-like quality I love about this polish. I followed this by two coats, not too thick not too thin of m4l. I the twist this adds to the look of your basic black polish. However for the price, I don't feel that this is that unique. I'd be just as happy layering black polish with silver glitter.

Polishes -China Glaze - Custom Kicks

I am super happy with this polish. I wanted something similar to the Nicki Minaj Fly without the OPI cost. While this color is probably more green and there is a slight shimmer to this polish, my lemming is satisfied. I could not believe how much opacity was reached in one coat...and no streakiness either. This is a great choice if you are looking for a fast mani with a great pop of color.

Polishes -OPI - Sparrow Me The Drama
rated 3 of 5

It appears that I am still on the mission to find the "perfect pink". While I do like how long my fingers look with this polish on, that's about it. The application was a bit fussy, a bit goopy, not particularly thick or thin and it yielded bald patches after two generous coats. I think the purple undertones are competing with my current skintone. I had a similar situation with essie's Splash of Grenadine. I'll have to wait til I get a little bit of summer color before I make decision of to keep or to donate this bottle.

Styling Products -Pantene - Curly Hair Style Spray Gel
rated 5 of 5

Target had this on clearance and I swooped it up the moment I saw it. My hair is thin and straight and I like to keep it low maintenance. Normally I just blow it dry, but when I feel like getting fancy I curl it with a flat iron. Holy moley does this stuff help curl my hair better and keep it's shape. I also love that there is nothing sticky about this product. The mist is well dispersed and has a pleasant smell. This stuff really helps me rock some Shirley Temple-esque locks all night long.

Polishes -Essie - geranium
rated 4 of 5

This is definitely a mood boosting color for me. Especially when I feel the effects of the winter blues, aka SAD. It's a bright, reddish-orange with a jelly like formula. The application was a standard 2 coats with decent wear. This shade has been out for awhile, but it seems to be on-trend with popularity of the 2012 Spring focus on oranges tones.

Polishes -OPI - I Have a Herring Problem
rated 4 of 5
mzebra 2/23/2012 9:21:00 PM

The concept of this polish is reminds me of essie's smooth sailing. However, IHaHP is slightly more of a muted dusty periwinkle. The packed in shimmer leans more on the golden edge and on closer inspection you can see hints of purple and green. The formula for this polish was perfect. Two coats worked like a charm. I have been loving the shimmers that have been packed into OPI and essie colors. And this one certainly does not disappoint.

Top/Base Coats -Creative Nail Design - Stickey -Base Coat
rated 5 of 5

Wow Stickey, where have you been this entire time? This has really lived up to my expectations. The formula has been great and one thin coat under keeps my manicure lasting up to a week. Which in my history, is a pretty long running time. I really like the brush and I wish I had more bottles shaped liked the CND kind. The only major drawback I've encountered is I have a lot more untried nail polishes, since I don't feel the need to change up my chipped manicure so much. My bff's mom would always say to me, "Your nails are jewels not tools". However it's the real world, so let's face it, you might use your nails as tools if necessary. Thankfully Stickey helps keep them still look like jewels.

Polishes -OPI - The Muppets Collection - Warm & Fozzie
rated 4 of 5
mzebra 1/25/2012 12:47:00 AM

I really wish that I snagged this polish earlier. With all the complex flecks of orange, gold and red this would have been the perfect color to rock through Fall. This reminds me the brilliant colors of leaves in the state parks with all the warm hues. The formula for this was a bit on the thin side and resulted in 3 coats. The application doesn't look very thick on the nail. I do wish there was a bit more of a duo-chrome appearance on the nail. The bottle seems to have that look, but that does not translate on my nail. Because of the foil formula this is one of the few polishes that hasn't chipped like crazy. I went a full week at work and there is just some slight fading at the tips, but it's barely noticeable. This makes me feel very warm & fozzie all over!

Polishes -OPI - Simply Smash-ing
rated 4 of 5
mzebra 1/19/2012 2:59:00 PM

This color sold as set with the black shatter really plunged me into the shatter mania of 2011. This is an intense gold that leans to the green spectrum. It has an abundant amount of shimmer that is green, pink, blue and purple. If you wear it too long it will stain your nails something awful. This color isn't my favorite on it's own. However, I really like to wear it over one coat of black nail polish to tone down the brightness and have the black nail polish peek through the shimmer. Application wise the formula seems a bit thin and 3 coats are required to reach a decent opacity. Or 1-2 coats if you are layering it over another color like I do.

Polishes -Essie - Mochacino
rated 4 of 5
mzebra 1/16/2012 10:17:00 AM

This is a very unique neutral. Kinda reminds me of the beige pantyhose that ice skaters wear to make their legs look really dark and shiny. There is a ton of silver shimmer that doesn't look gaudy. Definitely a color that my boyfriend would loathe, "not pink, not interested". Application was a bit fussy, but everything finally came together at 3 coats. It's a bit dark but still a great palette refresher from my louder manicures.

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
mzebra 1/11/2012 4:09:00 PM

I am a fanatic for this product. I'm not really a morning person but my job calls me to be. So to compromise I try and wash my hair as little as possible during the weekdays. I try and spend my precious time in the morning sleeping as much as possible. This definitely prevents me from looking like a scumbag in front of my co-workers. I have tried several other dry shampoos such as tresemme and umberto. Firstly, the smell of this product is so much better then others. The other products I have tried smell like cleaning chemicals. Secondly, the mist is dispersed very finely, to prevent that powdered wig appearance. Thirdly, the product just seems to work better in my hair. On top of this is priced far less then any other products I've seen out there. I never thought I would say Sauve for the win, but this is definitely the case here.

Polishes -China Glaze - Sea Spray
rated 4 of 5
mzebra 1/8/2012 1:38:00 AM

Yet another China Glaze winner for me. Originally I had picked up Pelican Grey and thought would suffice. But even though I still feel that the two are kinda somewhat pretty similar, I'm glad I grabbed this one too. While my collection has plenty of blues, this filled the void in the dusty baby blue with shimmer category. I am a sucker for those dusty leaning tones. Application was up to China Glaze standard, opaque in less then 2 coats. However, this pastel was a bit on the goopy, slightly thicker side, but nothing a steady hand/patience or a bit of thinner can't handle. This color would look refreshing in the warmer months and elegant in the cooler seasons.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
mzebra 12/13/2011 12:32:00 AM

I'm a lover of liquid eyeliner, especially that Almay one with the long tapered cap. Well move over liquid eyeliners because the Maybelline Gel eyeliner is top notch. I was surprised to find how much easier this product is to use compared to pencil and liquid eyeliners. And it's not just for creating dramatic lids. This is sweet for applying a thin and effortless strokes for an everyday look. I'll be stocking up my makeup bag with more of these shades the next time my local store runs a bogo.

Polishes -Essie - Shine of the Times
rated 5 of 5
mzebra 12/13/2011 12:22:00 AM

I've always been jealous of people's flakie collections. How does one acquire a flakie when you're too lazy to fight over them online or too cheap to spend over $10 for a bottle? So as soon as I was aware of this collection being released I was on pins and needles and stalking Ulta for this to come out. The flakie results are sooo pretty and I still can't get over how the colors shift as I pivot my nail. While dark or black seems like the obvious go to combination, the pairings for this are unlimited. The polish has a glitter like application where that glue like clear coat can take some abuse afterwards. It's been a full week and the tip wear is at a minimum, which must be a record for my typically peeling nails. I'm so happy I got these flakes and I'm not referring to dandruff!

Polishes -Essie - Sole Mate
rated 4 of 5
mzebra 12/9/2011 4:01:00 PM

This polish is really starting to grow on me. After my first coat of application I was convinced that me and Sole Mate were going to be arch enemies. It was so streaky for a dark color. But low and behold, everything changed with the 2nd coat. The polish was opaque. I also have Masquerade Belle in my stash which looks pretty similar bottlewise. But from what I've seen Sole Mate is much more plummy and far less of a beast to work with then Masquerade. I layered Shine of the Times with this. I am obsessed with the way that this looks. It's quite possible that this eye-catching combo is my best looking manicure yet.
