Skincare - Face -Clarisonic - Acne Brush Head

I use this brush with the Mia2 and so far, I think it works well. My skin feels softer and my pores seem cleaner. I'm using it with the acne cleanser once a day. The brush is very gentle.

This leaves a really nice shine and makes my nails feel stronger. Very fast drying, but doesn't last very long. Peels after a couple of days.

Lip Liners -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Lip Liner- Petal

I'm lovin' it!!! I'm fair-medium, dark blond hair w/highlights, blue eyes, 40's. The color is perfect to fill in where my natural lip line has started to disappear :-( (In my 20's people always thought I was wearing lipstick when I wasn't... my lips were always just a natural rosey color).

Masks -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 25% Mandelic Acid Peel
rated 2 of 5
lisa7788 12/12/2011 11:40:00 PM

I'm on my second bottle of this peel. I was skeptical at first that it wasn't any big deal, not knowing much about Mandelic acid. I bought it based on the reviews here. I have edited my review of this peel. It is very gentle, but I think it's too gentle. After using it a while I don't think it really does much. The stronger glycolic & TCA peels are much better at keeping my skin clear. This seems like a waste of money for me.

Candles -Bath and Body Works - Lilac Blossom
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 11/18/2011 11:53:00 AM

This is a very nicely scented lilac candle. It's not icky sweet like some lilac scents, especially the budget candles some large retail stores that sell for a dollar or two. It's actually pretty close to actual lilac (nothing like Lilac of Rochester, but lovely just the same). The price is excellent considering how difficult it is to find a candle with an authentic lilac scent and not something sickly funky that gives you a headache or makes you nauseous. I bought several last Christmas as gifts and they were big hits with the candle fans in the family! Try one, you won't be sorry :-)

Candles -Bath and Body Works - Island Margarita

Oh my goodness, how I love this scent!!! A coworker bought this scent in soap for our office and I immediately fell in love with it! Since then I've purchased the candle, the soap, and hand sanitizer. I hope to always have this available in my house. It's slightly sweet, it makes my mouth water, kind of like a watermelon Jolly Rancher might :-) But it is just a perfectly happy scent. In the winter it just brightens up the family room on a cold night. (It's also great for a damp day when my dogs make my house smell less than delightful LOL!) A definite buy recommendation!

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Effaclar Deep Cleansing Foaming Cream
rated 2 of 5
lisa7788 10/27/2011 1:40:00 PM

This is just a preliminary review. I've only just started using this, but so far: They really need to do something about the smell. It's awful!! Maybe some type of natural fragrance to be added. A rose scent maybe? It seems to cleanse well without drying. I was looking for something new; my face seems to be getting a little oilier and my other cleansers weren't helping. So, I'll update later after I've used it long enough to say yea or nay. Edit- 11/18/11 - nothing special so far. About the same as my Walmart Equate facial cleansing wash (says comparable to Clearasil on the label) 12/2/11: Nothing special. I'll stick with my Equate cleanser & save $19. The smell of this is terrible and it doesn't do any better than the cheaper Equate foaming wash. I won't repurchase.

Fragrances -L'Occitane - Rose Jardin Délice Eau de Toilette
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 10/15/2011 9:40:00 PM

I just received this as a gift. I love rose scents and have yet to be able to find one (other than rose water) that actually smells like roses. Most even though they say they are light & fresh aren't and are overwhelming , too floral, and very "perfumey". They seem "old ladyish". They give me a headache or make me nauseous. L'Occitane Rose Jardin Délice Eau de Toilette is exactly what I've been looking for. It's wonderful! Light overall scent, not at all heavy. Scent is light, rose, crisp, slight tea, fresh. Perfect for a scent that you can enjoy, but others will probably only notice if they are quite close to you. This is the fragrance for non-perfume wearers! Perfect!!!!

Treatments (Eye) -Elemis - Pro-Collagen Eye Renewal
rated 2 of 5
lisa7788 5/11/2011 1:36:00 PM

I prefer Neocutis eye cream/lotion. I bought this based on the reviews here, but have to use it at night only. It (for me, anyway) tends to migrate into my eyes and makes them feel very tired and irritated. I doubt I'd buy it again. I like their eye serum though.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Acanya
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 5/11/2011 1:30:00 PM

Miracle product for me!!!!! Short story (you can probably search boards for my 1 1/2 year skin dilemma), I've had adult acne off & on most of my adult life. A couple of years ago I started getting what turned out to be repeated negative staph infections on my face. My face initially cleared in only 3 days on antibiotics & Bactrim, but then the bumps (and scars) came back more frequently and the antibiotics (and every other product or home remedy I tried) stopped working. Within a year the left side of my face went from flawless to being covered on white scars and small scabs. Yuck! AND VERY embarrassing! My derm finally agreed to put me on Accutane, but her partner disagreed and suggested Acanya. I was very skeptical but gave it a shot. To my surprise my face began to clear up & smooth out within 10 days. I use this once a day, in the morning and I am absolutely delighted, ecstatic, and SO thankful! I'm 44 and now I finally have nicer skin. I've done a couple of MUAC TCA peels for the scarring, which has helped. Acanya also makes my pores smaller and doesn't make my face oilier, like Taz did. This stuff is an absolute Godsend!!!! The co-pay is $25 and it's shelf life is 2 months. It also now comes in a more sanitary pump instead of the little jar. I highly, HIGHLY recommend you try this if you are at the end of your rope with your skin and have tried everything else. I hid behind my hair (and LOTS of makeup at Thanksgiving & Christmas last year because I felt so awful about my skin. It was really bad!) Now, people are complementing me on how smooth it is. I have Everyday Minerals to thank for covering the scars :-) their multitasking concealer is fantastic! Hopefully after a couple more peels, the scars will be gone. And don't forget your sunscreen after this stuff dries. I'd buy this even if I didn't have insurance!!!! Edit: Please remember my skin problem was a very stubborn negative staph infection, not acne. My happiness w/ the product was that my infection cleared up and has stayed away since (10/2011). How it works for acne may not yield as great results. I just wanted to clarify that. Also, in my experience, topical acne products never work as well as prescriptions taken internally, at least not for me. Good luck!

Treatments (Eye) -Derma E - Pycnogenol and Hyaluronic Acid Eye Creme
rated 2 of 5
lisa7788 2/27/2011 2:06:00 PM

This is a great eye cream if you're looking for a very light one. I used it for a week and didn't care for it. I didn't feel it was very moisturizing. I was trying to go cheaper from my usual Neocutis or Elamis, but this wasn't it for me. My fine lines were (to me) more noticable than usual using this.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Nizoral AD Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 1/17/2011 5:19:00 PM

This review is for Nixoral shampoo in general. I've always used a Zinc pyrithione dandruff shampoo. It controlled dandruff but my scalp itched; often. I even tried the "dry scalp" formula hoping that would help. It didn't. I started to wonder/worry it might be something else (eeew! lice????) Anyway, I had purchased Nizoral shampoo to treat folliculitis and decided to actually use it on my hair. Go figure! :-) It worked great. I use it a few times a week alternating w/ my Sebastian Drench shampoo and the itchies are completely gone! I highly recommend you give it a try. I have color treated/highlighted hair and it doesn't seem to dry it out or do any harm to the color or condition.

Eyeliner -MAC - Grey Utility Powerpoint
rated 5 of 5

Really nice color. It's the perfect color for blue eyes. It's a nice, I guess neutral shade; it's not harsh, but it's just dark enough to complement my eyes. It lasts pretty well all day, too.

Treatments -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - TCA Peel
rated 5 of 5
lisa7788 7/25/2010 11:00:00 AM

I waited to do a review on this because at first I wasn't impressed with the results. Then I read more on their site and more here and did a two layer peel. HUGE difference! I started w/ the 12.5% peel in single layers, but it didn't do much. I moved up to the 18% after seeing people get great results on the MUAC site. I did a single layer, but got minimal results. Light peeling that looked like a bad case of dry, flakey skin. What I'm looking for is lightening of acne scars & sun spots on the right side of my face that have gotten pretty bad over the last year or so and to decongest the pores on my chin. I did a 2 layer peel w/ the 18% TCA solution. I let the first layer sit for 5 minutes, then applied a second layer and let that sit for 5 minutes or so. I used a baking soda solution to neutralize it and gently washed my face w/ the green tea soap they include w/ the peel. I used Bactroban as a moisturizer for several days after (they suggest Neosporin, but that's pretty greasy & sticky). You HAVE to keep your face clean and use some type of antibacterial cleanser or moisturizer to prevent irritation from becoming something worse. Anyway, my cheeks & chin felt & looked sunburned the next day (I covered it up w/ mineral foundation). The next day the skin had turned darker, tight & felt dry. It's not pretty! It stayed like that for a few days and then finally started to peel off. The skin underneath was soft and much more clear. It took about a week total for everything to peel off (I soaked the more stubborn areas with warm sea salt water to help loosen it. It came off easily then). My face looks so much better. I'd say I have a 50% lightening of the spots and next week I plan to do another peel and expect even more lightening. I went out yesterday w/out makeup and didn't feel the least bit self conscious. I highly recommend MUAC products- they're no frills but work very well. Just make sure you follow the directions!!! Don't pick at peeling skin, you can make scars if you peel skin that's not ready to come off yet! Highly recommended!! I'll update after my next peel or two.

Toners -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - Acne Pore Minimizer w/Sepicontrol A5
rated 2 of 5
lisa7788 7/21/2010 10:40:00 AM

I bought a sample of this in hopes it would do what the claims promised. Who wouldn't want clearer pores & less oil? I used it a little while but didn't notice any difference in my skin. Maybe if I had used it for a longer period of time it might have done something but it leaves a slightly tacky feel after it dries and since I wasn't noticing any benefits I figured why keep using it when I'm using other things that do work. Anyway, it seems to work for some but for me seemed like an unnecessary step in my skincare routine.
