I got this after trying the Studio Fix and liking it. Felt I needed a bit more oil control. Seems to run light in color so I got medium and I'm usually not quite that dark. I apply after the Studio Fix. I use the puff and pat it on. It's hard to tell what works sometimes and what doesn't. I've been trying different primers also. Maybe this should be tested without the primer to see how it works. So far I do like it and it seems to give me more of a matte finish which I like.
After a number of years of screwing around with minerals, I decided to try Studio Fix...of course after reading reviews here. I got so sick of the mess with loose powders/minerals. I decided to finally admit, I hate messing with it. So off to MAC and now I'm becoming an addict. I have much more to review, but I'm starting with the basic and my first MAC purchase. I have been on the hunt for foundation since I was a teen...and I'm now 50 something. Still oily. Pores, etc. I love how quick SF is. I'm a NW20 which seemed light when I saw it in the pan. But it's a spot on match. I may have to go a shade darker in the summer. This covers nicely. Blends like a dream. The price isn't bad compared to others. I'm using a kabuki brush to apply. I've tried the 187 brush (another great MAC product), but I prefer that for blush. This appears to be a keeper. At least for now until I find reviews on the next greatest thing. The coverage is good, which I need. I don't get the powdery mask-like look that some complain about. It melts right into my skin and looks natural. I will repurchase.
I use this when I don't use Bed Head Manipulator. This is a very nice light weight gel that holds and defines my wavy to curly hair. With my hair semi-dry I will scrunch this into the curls. I will use some at the crown for a piecy look. It holds well without looking hard or greasy. Really like this product.
This stuff is awesome. I have fine but lots of wavy to curly shoulder length layered hair. I blow dry my hair upside down to get height at the crown. I don't completely dry the rest, just the crown. With my hair still damp, but not dripping I style and scrunch with Manipulator. It holds my hair and defines the curls. Doesn't make it greasy looking.
I have a light complexion, cool undertones. This is a lovely color for me. I use a skunk brush and use it as blush. I really wasn't looking for a bronzer and don't consider it a bronzer although I suppose you could use it as one. Gives a nice healthy blush of color. It has a glow but not sparkly. I have large pores and it doesn't accentuate them. Very pretty results!
Powder -Prescriptives - All Skins Mineral Foundation spf 15
idigdirt 12/4/2008 10:56:00 PM
I've been using this for about 3 weeks. The color match is spot on. Cool #2 I believe. I am a BE drop out. Lumiere has been my foundation for a couple of years and after visiting the Prescriptives counter at Macy's decided to give this a try. I used to be an exclusive Prescriptives girl when it was a new line. I am happy with the color match and coverage of this. I use a flat top Lumiere brush to apply. Coverage is buildable. I have oily, sensitive, acne prone skin. Have experienced no breakouts with this. I think this is right up their with the Lumiere Cashmere.
Moisturizers -Eucerin - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme
idigdirt 12/4/2008 10:50:00 PM
I've been using this for a few days after reading reviews here. The smell is divine. Very light vanilla-y. Not offensive at all. And it feels like pure shea butter. So creamy. I have oily, sensitive, acne prone skin and am after 54 years finally experiencing some dryness. This stuff feels so good on my skin. Not greasy at all. It feels like an expensive, high end cream.
I like this shampoo. It's reasonably priced and makes my hair shiney and manageable. I like the follow up condition (cleanse and mend) also. Again, MUA reviews made me try this. I have color treated hair also and it hasn't made it too dry or faded the color. I wash every other day and do the conditioner cleanse method on my off days.
Cleansers -Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar
idigdirt 2/7/2008 11:44:00 PM
I've been using this for about 6 months. A bar lasts a long time. I think I'm only on my 3rd bar. My derm has recommended this to me for a long time and I'm not sure why, but decided to finally give it a try. I think I was reluctant because I had tried the liquid Cetaphil in the past and never felt clean. I really do like this bar though. I do wash twice with it at night when I have makeup on. Once to remove most of the makeup and another time to make sure. I don't use toner so I always feel the need to wash twice...especially with very gentle cleansers like this. I find this for about $3 a bar at WalMart or Target. I have 3 bars going...one in the shower; one at the sink and one in my travel bag, which I use as a whole body soap when I'm away. I usually don't like the motel soaps...too harsh. BTW...I'm 53 and have combo/oil/rosacea skin. I never thought this bar which says it's for dry skin would work for me. I'm on acne meds still at this age...makes me nuts, but that's a different review I guess.
Lip Treatments -Chapstick - 100% Naturals - Lip Butter
idigdirt 2/7/2008 11:36:00 PM
Just bought this after reading reviews. I've been a Carmex fan for a few years but wondering if it's not working in reverse...especially after what I've been reading about it. Used it constantly and they never felt better or healing...only temporarily after I'd put it on. So I bought this Chapstick and don't think I've purchased Chapstick since the old days of the black and white package; waxy nasty stuff. Well, this lip butter is just that....like butter. Not gooey or thick like the waxed stuff. Lighter than the Carmex. Feels more healing. I think this is a keeper.
Skincare - Body -Vaseline - Cocoa Butter Gel Body Oil
idigdirt 2/7/2008 11:28:00 PM
Just bought this today. The scent is light and nice and doesn't linger...which is nice so it doesn't compete with any other you might be wearing. You need very little of this product! It makes your skin baby soft. I love it! It's oily feeling going on...hence, you need just a smidge! It soaks in though and leaves your skin glowing. I put some on my feet tonight instead of my usual. They're very soft! I put the remainder on my hands and enough to go up to my elbows. My hands look fabulous! Very soft and smooth and just glowing. Not shiney or glittery, just a glow. Give it a try. Reasonably priced and needing so little it should last a long time.
I'm only on my second day with this mascara and I'm already in love with it. I have very watery eyes, so always would wear waterproof which can be rough on the lashes in removal. Vaseline took care of that pretty much however. But back to Kiss Me....OMG, it's fabulous! Goes on very smoothly, no clumps and no racoon eyes toward the end of the day. It's comforting to know that it's stying put. I hate the cost however! $24....that's why it took so long to finally cave in. I was in Sephora and was in one of those moods....ok, whatever....gonna try it. Glad I did. I got it in black which was all they had. Edit: I gave up on this. At first it seemed to do exactly as it claims. I found that the tubes were too hard to get off at night. I was rubbing my eyes too hard and that's not a good thing at my age. Went back to my Full 'n' Soft.
I bought this is both the clear and pink tint. I love both. The pink tint is just that...just a hush of pink. It makes your nails look highly buffed....not glossy like a polish.
Moisturizers -St. Ives - Cucumber & Elastin Eye & Face Stress Gel ] [DISCONTINUED]

I adore this stuff! I'll put it aside for awhile and get it out especially in the summer when it's hot, this stuff rocks. Feels so refreshing on my oily skin. Lately I've been using vitamin e oil, so I've been adding a drop or two to the gel at night. Feels great. I only use it at night because it doesn't have SPF.
I've had a tube of American Beauty Wonderful lotion from Kohl's and haven't used it...been sitting in my bathroom for months. Decided tonight for some reason to lather some on. OMG...this stuff is awesome. I love the fragrance. This fall I'll get the cologne to go with it. I don't wear fragrance much in the summer because I'm outside a lot and the critters are attracted to it. My legs feel very silky and I smell maaavelous!
