Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick in Deep Nude [DISCONTINUED]

This is an HG in my cosmetics case. My fair skin, brown hair, and brown/hazel eyes look great with this and yes, it still looks great as it fades. I agree that the name is deceiving, it gives much more color than other nude shades. I especially like to use Deep Nude when I'm wearing browns or reds or greens in my clothes.
Lipstick -Clinique - Long last Lipstick - Bamboo Pink

An Allure magazine Best of Beauty winner . . . Bamboo Pink is one of my HG shades even though Clinique's lipsticks don't have much staying power. I've repurchased this several times.
Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey
fridaycat 6/13/2004 11:39:00 AM
I purchases this based on the Allure's Reader Choice Awards. Black Honey deserves the recognition it's received. Pros: The color is great and the texture is not too glossy - a shade I love to wear on casual weekends. A definite staple in my cosmetics case. I would repurchase. Cons: I would expect Clinique to charge less for a gloss than a lipstick. Also, I think the package design could be improved. I'm not crazy about the angled design.
This mascara is wonderful for the first few hours but then it becomes dry and horribly flaky. From that point on it bothers my contacts horrendously. For this reason I just can't repurchase it.
This mascara is continually winning awards in magazines and for that reason I've been trying it on and off over the years. Each time I end up dumbfounded as to why it's so popular. This mascara does nothing to lengthen, thicken, or separate my lashes. Last year I vowed to ignore the seemingly high regard for this product and never buy it again.
This is an excellent mascara (and I've tried many). I will be repurchasing this.
Maybelline couldn't have named this product more appropriately. I bought this after reading the reviews here and it's definately a My Eyelashes Only Better product. Highly recommend this as the best drugstore brand mascara.

Styling Products -Matrix - Biolage - Curl Definining Creme

Great scent, great pump dispenser and that's about all that's good with this product. It did absolutely nothing to define my curls. I agree with the MUAer who said you might as well be putting body lotion on your hair. That's exactly what it felt like.
Love this lip balm. Refreshing scent/taste and feels very natural on my lips - yay for no waxy residue.
Styling Products -Clairol - Herbal Essences Maximum Control Mousse

I used this several years ago but then went to higher-end styling products. After reading reviews here I was reminded of how great this stuff is and went out and bought a can. Yep, still excellent! My thick hair with loose curls does well with this. No frizz and a very natural hold. I will be buying this again.
Lotions/ Creams -Sally Hansen - 18 Hour Protective Hand Cream
fridaycat 6/11/2004 3:22:00 PM
No doubt my HG of hand creams, need I say more?? :) This also comes recommended by Allure magazine in their Best of Beauty issue. I agree when they say this stuff works better than the high-end hand creams.
This product serves as proof that you don't need to spend alot at a department or specialty store to achieve great skin. As for the smell, it doesn't linger for long and I actually don't mind the scent. UPDATE: I've been using this product for 2 weeks now and it continues to work tremendously with my skin. In fact, my skin hasn’t looked this great in a couple of years.
Moisturizers -Mary Kay - Timewise Age Fighting Moisturizer w/ SPF
fridaycat 6/11/2004 3:12:00 PM
This is just way too greasy for my skin. I tried it for 2 months and it never got any better. Also, at $18 a pop, I expected the packaging to be of better quality than a drugstore brand. It sure didn't. Won't be using this anymore.
Liquid -Jane - Stay Calm Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
fridaycat 6/11/2004 3:08:00 PM
I would have *never* tried this foundation if it weren't for the rave reviews here. About the time I was reading the reviews for Stay Calm I was becoming immensely dissatisfied with my recently purchased Perfectly Real Makeup from Clinique. I thought 'what the heck?' and returned the $22 Clinique Perfectly Real and bought a $4 bottle of Jane's Stay Calm. WOW! Stay Calm is awesome! It goes on silky smooth, keeps oil at a minimum, and has SPF to boot. Hours later it's still looking great. I am still in shock at how great this stuff is.
