BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream

THIS IS NOT A PROPER BB CREAM!! for anyone who hasn't used a bb cream before or if this is their very first bb cream they've ever bought, you need to know that this does NOT do what a good bb cream should. I got some of the free samples they're giving away online (which did arrive quite quickly), if i'd have bought this I would have wasted my money. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What a BB cream should do in the short run: - Even the skin tone, hide redness and blur any imperfections - blur any fine lines - give a nice dewy glow - have a good SPF (at least 15) - diminish dark eye circles - hydrate skin all day - leave skin feeling soft and not greasy (even if you've got a bad breakout of spots, after applying the cream you should have little to no-need of a concealer). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the long term it should: - improve and even your natural skin tone - help heal any spots, and reduce breakouts - and just generally improve all-round skin health ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This cream does NONE of these things at all, it's only redeeming features are that it does hydrate skin all day, has non-oily formula and has SPF 30 (but at 1.15% titanium dioxidide, i doubt this will provide good UVA/UVB protection). At best it's a glorified tinted moisturiser! trust me there are far more superior bb creams out there for just a couple of quid more.

Mascara -Boots - No. 7 Exceptional Definition Nutrient Enriched Mascara
rated 4 of 5

What a lovely mascara: gives AMAZING volume, adds a nice bit of cheeky length, curls wonderfully, applies like a dream with no clumps or flakes, the brush is fabulously designed......But then, oh dear.....2 hours later....it looks like i've gone 2 rounds with Mike Tyson. Unfortunately it hasn't got much staying power at all and smudges all under the eyes....result...well, a less then desirable look! Like a hot date, it'd started out so amazing...but...he didn't have the stamina to keep up with me for a single day...oh well, into the draw you go for rainy day (and i'll see if there's any room for the mascara as well ;)

Mascara -Coty - miss sporty XXXVolume Mascara

i've had to rewrite my review of this now, when i first started using it, it worked like a dream, gave lovely volume, and i thought i'd finally found a mascara that didn't smudge. 2 months into use and i found that it clumped a lot during application, it flaked all the time, and the smudging under the eyes after an hour or 2 of wear was DREADFUL! (which made me look 10 years older! :( I would have had to buy another tube, even though there was still plenty left which would've been really wasteful. yet another mascara let down :( my quest for a non-smudging mascara continues...

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Youth Code Day/Night Cream
rated 4 of 5
frickinradical 7/17/2012 10:10:00 AM

one word, FAB. it worked a treat with me and did exactly what it said. And when I used it with the youth booster serum it really helped to even my skin tone as well. after about half an hour i could already see the difference, and after 2 weeks my skin looked and felt like new. i recently lost a lot of weight and the weight loss has made my skin slightly saggy, so i looked older than i was, but this has really helped get my skin back to how it should be :) -------------------------- the only negatives i have is that is doesn't have any spf (which isn't so bad as most makeup/bb creams have it now) and the price!...it is quite expensive, but you don't need much so it does last a good long time, so look at it as an investment also the perfume and colouring might cause a reaction in sensitive skin ---------------------------- although i have loved using this, i've been thinking about all the colourants, perfume, and other nasties thats in it, and it can't be good long term for skin, so i 've switched to a completely natural skin cream by bubble and bee...very glad a switched as my new cream is half the price of this and works better then any other cream i've ever used!

Treatments -Garnier - Garnier Pure Active Spot-On Treatment
rated 4 of 5

Really helps to get rid of spots quickly, and the roll-on is a great advantage - because you don't apply it with your finger, there's no bacteria transfer to your face (a very good tip for avoiding spots!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ +ve :) - roll-on, so increases face hygiene - maximum concentration of salyic acid - dries up the spots in no time - definitely reduces swelling, and dramatically increases healing time - packaging has lots of info on the product and ingredients - products lasts a long time, so it makes the price worth while ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- tip: store the product upside down, so the roller is facing down, that way the product is always ready for use (and you get every last drop out when it's finished) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --ve :( - it's quite expensive, but it does last quite a while, so it's a bit of a trade off in the long run !!!!!! it can make your skin more sensitive to UVA !!!!!! make sure you wear face cream with at least spf 15 when using this product (it does say this on the packaging on the back)

Concealers -Collection 2000 - Illuminating Touch Concealer
rated 4 of 5

really good concealer and highlighter in one! i bought the 'natural 2' shade which blends well with my pale skin tone, and the price is an absolute steal for the quality! I blend it by dabbing gently with by ring finger, if you rub it you'll just wipe it off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- +ve :) - cheap to buy - hides under-eye dark circles fantastically! (and might I add, hides those first fine lines of aging...*sighs*) - good range of shades - covers blemishes quite well - also doubles as a highlighter as well - lasting coverage, I've found it doesn't clump in the eye-creases either - you don't need to use to much to provide coverage, so the acctual product itself will last quite a long time (making the cheap price even better!) - the product works as a click pen with a brush tip, so you'll be able to use every last drop and apply it with out much mess (although the coloured plastic tube does make it quite hard to see how much you have left, transparent plastic would be better) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --ve :( - just one, the packaging definitely needs a better 'shade' description as it's VERY easy to get the wrong colour for your skin tone (i've done it, and then had to take it back to get the right one) the shades currently say - i think? - naked 1, natural 2, and glow 3 with a slightly varying background like a light green colour or a yellow colour (which are very easy to get mixed up!)

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set
rated 5 of 5

definitely a good investment, with make up tools you-get-what-you-pay-for, and these are the best i've ever used, especially the powder brush! i've them a while and they're still like new, they don't irritate the skin and good at blending the make up.

Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder (ALL)
rated 4 of 5
frickinradical 6/6/2012 11:03:00 AM

I found this was really good for my oily skin, but i have a feeling if you have dry skin you might want to avoid. it's fab to wear over liquid foundation or straight over the skin (i use a light covering over my bb cream). it keeps matte all day, i have quite a physical job and its never gone cakey by the end of the day. the colour selection is great (especially for pale skin tones, i find the transparent one is good for very pale skin).

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for Combination to Oily Skin - Light
rated 5 of 5
frickinradical 6/5/2012 10:39:00 AM

FAB for oily skin, the original one was far too oily for my skin type, but luckily garnier redeemed themselves with this one! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- :) +ve - fantastic coverage, don't need to wear any foundation over it at all, I like to put a little powder over it to keep it matte all day and keep it in place (the rimmel stay matte powder over this is really fab). careful when squeezing the tube, as it's more runny than the original - covers dark circles under the eyes brilliantly - matches the skin tone well (although making a few more shades available would be an idea to consider garnier!) - a little goes along way with this product, so it lasts quite a good time (it's now december, and i'm still on the first tube that i bought in april, i use it every single day and it's still going!) - it's a travel friendly size - for the quality, it's very affordable - has spf 20 (original one is spf 15) - packaging is very good and appealing, gives clear instruction on how to use (also has the statistics and sample size on the back as well i.e. 80% of saw a reduction in red areas, 92% thought is was fab, etc. - these aren't the actual stats, i'm just giving an example) - helps to heal spots and improve skin really well! (and disguise those first fine lines of aging, *sighs*): i've been using it now for about 5 months and my skin tone has improved massively and i hardly ever get any breakouts any more (my pores haven't really diminished in size much though) - nice smell (not too much sent, but just a hint of that lovely fruity, garnier smell) ------------------------------------------------------------------ :( -ve - same price as the original but has 10ml less, which I don't get why? garnier, would you like to explain that one! - not suitable for all skin ages (but garnier has brought out one specifically for older skin) - only 2 skin tones available, so if you have dark skin you'll have to keep looking, and if you have extremely pale skin the light shade might be slightly to dark for you.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
rated 2 of 5
frickinradical 6/5/2012 10:11:00 AM

Not good for oily skin, if you have dry skin this would be great for you, but if you're like me and have oily skin DON'T USE. The light colour was also too dark (and slightly orange) for my skin tone, so a wider range of colours would be better. (The oil free one garnier has brought out however is PERFECT for oily skin.)
