Polishes -OPI - Isn't it Romantic?
rated 5 of 5

A little bit of info about my style: I love really bright and attention grabbing nail polishes and dramatic make-up. I'm not a fan of anything that looks natural. However, this nail polish is absolutely perfect for occasions where wearing anything attention-grabbing or dramatic is a no-no (i.e. job interviews, professional conferences, etc.) The color is absolutely gorgeous and leaves my nails with such a clean and professional appearance. My sister bought this polish for $1 at CosmoProf - a true steal! It lasts about 5 days with a clear Sally Hansen top coat over it.

Lipstick -Revlon - Revlon Super Lustrous in Fire and Ice
rated 4 of 5

Wow, this lipstick really is bright! I am a fan of bright red lipstick and I was looking for a new red since my favorite lipstick got discontinued (Maybelline Moisture Extreme in 'Candied Apple'). I bought this at Walmart for around $7. It comes in a standard lipstick type of packaging. Very plain and black. I don't really care what the packaging looks like as long as it doesn't fall apart - the product is what really matters to me. I put this on and was shocked at how bright this is. It is blinding! It tends to navigate a bit so I think applying it carefully really is a must and perhaps using some sort of primer or waxy lip pencil would help. This also stains lips really badly. I tried this lipstick on last night and today when my boyfriend came over he asked me why my lips were weird. I looked in the mirror and noticed that some parts of my lips were stained and looked neon pink. This lipstick is also way too bright to wear with dark eye make-up or obvious bronzer/blush and I think it would amazing with a simple cat eye and some mascara. A dark smokey eye paired with this would definitely be clownish.

Lotions/ Creams -Queen Helene - Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion
rated 1 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 9/20/2011 4:11:00 PM

As bad as it sounds I normally don't use any type of moisturizer since my skin doesn't flake or feel too dry. However, I went on a vacation and came back with an amazing tan and to maintain a tan you really need to moisturize. I went to my local Walmart and was about to buy a bottle of St. Ives when I saw the Queen Helene cocoa butter lotion. It was 950 mL for $5.46. An amazing deal for such a big bottle! I really like the consistency of this lotion. It isn't too runny but it isn't thick where you can't spread it. It's amazing for massages too. My only problem with it is that I don't think it's moisturizing enough. I don't know if my skin is too dehydrated or what's going on, but I would put this lotion on, my skin would feel nice and hydrated, then about 5 minutes later would still feel dry. EDIT: I have been moisturizing my skin so much with this thinking that my skin was just severely dry. It's weird because I would put this on, my skin would feel nicely moisturized then 5 minutes late the flakes would reappear. One day I finally put on some of my mom's St. Ives lotion and the flakey dry skin INSTANTLY disappeared and remained moisturized until the very next day. I was AMAZED at what a great job the St. Ives did for my dry skin and realized how much time I was wasting with this cocoa butter lotion since it was doing absolutely nothing for me. This definitely went done to 1 lippie for me. Sooo not worth the time! Even though this is super cheap what's the point if it's not doing anything for my skin? I'd rather spend the same amount of money on a smaller bottle of St. Ives since it leaves my skin so soft and hydrated.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Gold Pearl Plum
rated 1 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 9/16/2011 11:15:00 PM

This lipstick used to be my signature shade when I was younger. I constantly wore this and thought that the color was so beautiful. On me it appeared red with a slight tint of berry and was very flattering. Fast forward about 5 years, I tried this shade on again only to realize that it does not look good on me at all. Maybe I was paler back then or who knows, but I find this shade highly unflattering on me right now. It washes out my complexion and makes me look kind of dead. It also appears brownish instead of having that berry red shade. I look back at my old pictures and still think the lipstick shade looked amazing back then, so it's not as if I outgrew it. Maybe it is because I am into wearing super bright red lipstick shades now instead of deeper shades like this.

Polishes -China Glaze - Shocking Pink
rated 5 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 9/15/2011 9:13:00 PM

Wow I am finally impressed with China Glaze! Like I mentioned in my previous reviews, China Glaze has amazing shades but the application of their polishes is usually horrible. Their polishes are either too streaky, too sheer or require a million coats to look opaque. I bought this shade because I wanted a hot, bubblegum pink shade and this looked really pretty in the bottle. I found that the polish applies A LOT brighter on my nails than it looks in the bottle! The first coat was very streaky, but not as sheer as my other neon China Glaze polishes! I was AMAZED at how opaque the second coat was! Yay, no need for a million coats anymore! Also this color is gorgeous. Like someone else mentioned it really is a Barbie-on-crack shade of pink. Very sexy and attention grabbing. The polish dried super quickly and didn't leave my nails feeling gummy which some polishes do. I can't comment on the lasting power yet since I only did my nails yesterday, but so far I am really in love with this polish. It is the PERFECT neon pink shade and is amazing! <3

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Fuchsia Fever
rated 4 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 8/30/2011 6:05:00 PM

This color is beautiful! I tried it when I had blonde hair and it just didn't suit me at all. It made me look cheap and tacky. Now that I have dyed my hair darker, this color is stunning. It is very bright, but does not look tacky. It is also a true fuschia color. I have fair skin with warm/golden undertones and while my skin is still light, it's usually a lot darker than most people I know with fair skin. This color does not wash me out or make me look strange. My only concern with this lipstick is that it makes my teeth look slightly yellow.

Tinted Moisturizer -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear - Fair to Light
rated 5 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 8/23/2011 2:09:00 AM

I LOVE this tinted moisturizer! I have super sensitive, acne prone skin with tons of scarring and dark spots. I have been wearing foundation for years and would not be seen in public with my bare skin. I found that it looks ridiculous to cake my face with foundation in some situations (e.g. at the pool or gym) so figured tinted moisturizers were a must so that I would look more natural. I tried a CoverGirl tinted moisturizer before and was pretty disappointed. I do understand that tinted moisturizers should have very light coverage, but I found that the CoverGirl t.m did not have any color in it. I decided to give this Physician's Formula t.m a try since I saw a deal at Walmart where you can buy two for $15 (two came in a box). Normally one would cost $15. I bought it in the shade Fair to Light because while my skin is fair, it is still darker than most pale people. I apply this t.m without using any concealer or anything underneath and I use my fingers. It gives me a very natural appearance and hides my blemishes. It also doesn't become shiny or give me that caked on face foundation does. Ever since I have started using this people have been complimenting me and telling me that my skin looks much better. Some people have also asked me whether I am even wearing make-up; that's how natural it looks. So far I am really impressed and it has not broken me out yet which is a HUGE plus for me since my skin reacts to everything. I have been using this almost everyday for a month.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Earthly Shimmer
rated 1 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 8/23/2011 2:02:00 AM

I am really disappointed with NYX eyeshadows lately. I read tons of reviews by people claiming that NYX eyeshadows are amazing and are great quality, but I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I bought 3 NYX eyeshadows and had to return every single one of them because the quality was absolutely ridiculous. They looked so beautiful in the package, but as soon as I try to apply them, there was absolutely no color that showed up. Also, there was so much fall out and if the eyeshadow looked shimmery that was just an indication that it was a chunky, glittery mess and not subtle shimmer. I have to admit this color looks so beautiful in the package. It is a shimmery, gold color with a hint of green. I have hazel eyes and this color seems as if it would be perfect for bringing out the green in my eyes. I was so excited to buy this and when I went home and tried it on I was extremely disappointed. Absolutely NO color showed up! I was shocked. This is one of the worst eyeshadows I have ever tried. Honestly it is really disappointing to spend $10 on something, not be able to return it, and have it lay around because it is pure garbage. I am NEVER going to buy a NYX eyeshadow again (except for the black one because that was the only one I thought was amazing). They are too expensive and are worse than dollar store make-up.

Skincare - Face -Avene - Thermal Water
rated 1 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 8/23/2011 1:55:00 AM

I bought this product at Shopper's Drug Mart after it had been recommended to me by a friend. My friend has amazing skin and swears that this stuff helps clear up any blemishes that she has. She said that her skin is super sensitive and reacts to everything so I decided to give this a try considering my skin is freakishly sensitive as well. I also have acne prone skin even though I'm a young adult and I have a lot of scarring. In the past few months, I have started to develop acne that is really dark and is leaving dark acne scars (I always had actual holes as acne scars and never dark spots). I have been using this thermal water for about 3 days now. The first day I used it, it seemed to take away a bit of the redness I had on my chin. I have a super dark acne spot on my chin that looks horrible and it has faded considerably, even though it is still very visible. I don't know if this product is actually doing something for my skin or not because I don't really see any improvements. Lately, my skin has been looking better than usual but right after I started using this product, I developed a huge pimple on my forehead. I am hoping this product is not the cause, but I guess I will have to wait and see. I really hope this products helps improve my crazy skin. It feels really refreshing to apply. It cost $16.50 + tax at Shopper's Drug Mart for a 150 mL spray can. I will edit this post after some time passes because I will be able to tell whether this product is working for me or not. EDIT: This does not do anything at all for my skin. It really is a waste of money because I have the exact same effect from just using water. It did not break me out or cause any negative side effects, but it did not improve my skin in any way.

Eye Shadow -NYX - My favorite color
rated 1 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 7/15/2011 8:12:00 PM

This is the worst eyeshadow ever. I bought this eyeshadow because initially when I saw it I thought it looked like such a beautiful color. It was a very shimmery gold-champagne color with a hint of rose. I was really excited thinking it would actually show up the same way when I put it on. It turned out to be a disaster because there was absolutely no indication of any color on my eyelids. All there was, was a glittery mess. It wasn't nice glitter I could handle, but big chunky flecks of glitter that looked so childish and tacky. When I went to work later that day, people asked me why I had glitter all over my face. I didn't even realize that even after trying to remove the crappy eyeshadow there would still be glitter on my face! Thankfully, the store I bought this at let me return it. I have to admit the name of this product is deceiving and for $7.99 I was not planning on having this just lay around and not use it.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Pink Cloud
rated 4 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 7/4/2011 7:34:00 PM

I bought this lipstick when I had jet black hair and I didn't really like it because I thought it was too light and frosty. Since then, I have dyed my hair platinum blonde and can't believe how amazing this color looks on me now. It is a bit frosty, but it does not wash me out and does not look silver at all. The lipstick is also very moisturizing and shiny - it looks great. I also like that it's long-lasting and doesn't leave that gross film on my lips. It also smells like cucumber and does not make my teeth look yellow at all. I will keep repurchasing this. It's great for a night out clubbing!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Blue-Away
rated 5 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 6/2/2011 12:46:00 AM

This is a review for the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri nail polish, that should not be confused with the Sally Hansen nail polish with the shade name "Blue Me Away". This nail polish cost about $4.93 at Walmart. Originally I was planning on buying China Glaze in 'For Audrey' but since my local CosmoProf ran out of it, I went to Walmart to search for a new, fun shade to pick up. To be honest I'm not really a fan of the colour blue, but lately I have been really attracted to pastel blue nails. This colour looked super pretty in the bottle. A light pastle blue. I decided to pick it up and didn't really have many expectations. I was AMAZED at the application this polish provided. VERY opaque and not streaky at all! With one coat I got such beautiful opaque colour. When it comes to opaque colour this polish deserves a 5/5 and exceeds China Glaze by a mile. I didn't use a base coat underneath so I'm not sure if it stains natural nails, but considering I always wear nail polish I don't really mind if they're stained. I used a Sally Hansen top coat and this polish has lasted me about 5 days so far with absolutely no chipping, fading or anything at all. This makes my nails so perfect. I even had 3 people whom I don't know compliment me on what a beautiful nail polish colour this was. I will always keep repurchasing this! <3

Polishes -Revlon - Pure Pearl
rated 5 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 5/24/2011 8:02:00 PM

I REALLY like this nailpolish. The color is so pretty and very classy. I can't even remember when I bought this nail polish and it has lasted me this long without drying up. While the polish is a bit streaky at first, after 2-3 coats you get beautiful opaque color. The finish is quite elegant, white with a pearly finish. It also lasts really long and doesn't chip. Whenever I wear this polish, I get tons of compliments. It reminds me of Jane Fonda's elegant white nails in the movie Monster-in-Law.

Polishes -China Glaze - Pink Voltage
rated 3 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 5/21/2011 4:23:00 PM

I am quite disappointed with China Glaze nailpolishes. Most people compare them to OPI in terms of quality, but I honestly don't think they are as good. China Glaze has an awesome variety of colors - particularly the neon shades. They are really bright and attention grabbing. When I purchase a neon shade, I don't expect it to dry super shiny or last super long, I just expect opaque neon color. It is really disappointing to put on a neon shade and have it as sheer as a French manicure shade of pink! Now with all of that being said, this color is amazing BUT it requires many layers of it, in order to get the bright color. The only great thing about this is that it dries super fast so by the time you are finished painting all of your finger nails on one hand, you can redo them all over again because they'll be dry. To be honest this polish requires about 5 coats in order to look opaque. The problem with so many coats is that it may sometimes look streaky. But since the color is so amazing in the end, it's worth it. I just wish China Glaze polishes would be as opaque as the neon colors by Color Club. This polish lasted about 5 days (I had a Sally Hansen top coat over it). A top coat is a must since this dries very matte. I would repurchase this only because the color is really pretty, however if I found the same shade that was actually opaque and didn't require so many coats, then I wouldn't repurchase this.

Polishes -OPI - Black Shatter
rated 5 of 5
ex0ticbarbie 4/23/2011 6:20:00 PM

I was really excited when I read about this because I remember having a similar nail polish when I was little. However, the nail polish back then was such crap quality that it stained my nails and didn't give off such a cool cracked effect. When I saw the Shattered nail polish, I thought it looked amazing and reminded me of the leopard print designs some girls get done on their nails. I do not have the skill or patience to do leopard print designs on my own, so considering I could buy a nail polish that will provide similar results without any effort was amazing. I was so excited when I finally found this at a beauty supply. It cost me $9.95. I put on a shimmery gold nail polish from Rimmel and waited for it to completely dry and then I used the OPI Shatter over. It almost immediately started to shatter. On one nail, I put it on a bit too thick so it created a giraffe pattern look as opposed to the other nails where a thin-medium layer created a really random effect. I really like this nail polish and think it's amazing. I noticed it's a bit thick and gets kind of gloopy on the brush, so I'm worried about it drying up. I used a top coat on top and am surprised at how smooth this nail polish feels. I expected a really bumpy and rough texture. It has lasted me for about 2 days so far with absolutely no chipping. It looks amazing on my fingernails and toenails.
