Primer/ Corrector -Gorgeous Cosmetics - First Base Foundation Primer
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:56:00 AM
I love this. Its the only primer I've ever used that actually works - i've used Smashbox, MAC, Natio and Face of Australia. It controls oil even in Australian summer under both mineral and liquid foundation and means I don't have to touch up or blot during the day. It definitely smooths and reduces the appearance of pores. The packaging, smell and application are all great. My only beef with it is the price, at $52 its a big pricey. That said, I will still repurchase as it is unbeatable. For reference I have combination/dehydrated skin with some T zone oil problems.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cranberry eye shadow
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:49:00 AM
I wanted to love this but I find it has a few problems. Firstly it doesn't apply or wear nearly as well as other MAC e/s I own. Also I find it difficult to pair with other colours, and with blush and lipstick shades. It makes my neutral fair skin look pallid and my inner eye lids look red. I would not recommend this product for anyone with a fair amount of red pigment around the eyes, or if you have not slept well!

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in See Sheer
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:46:00 AM
I love this but find it fairly hard to pair other makeup colours with. The only look that I find it suits is a kind of 1920s pin-up with black liquid liner and a sheeny MAC Shroom eye. For reference I have hazel eyes, neutral fair skin and strawberry blonde hair. It certainly brightens my face, is really moisturising and luscious on the lip however I always find I feel self conscious when I wear it - maybe the poster who said its like a colour in a kid's makeup kit is right. I feel like a bit of a bimbo with it on! It has a fair amount of shine to it, has an average lasting power and is probably worth buying if you can carry off a glossy coral.

Lipstick -Lipstick Queen - Medieval
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:41:00 AM
My favourite lipstick of all time. After reading raves here I expected great things and I got it. Medieval is the only red I have ever felt comfortable wearing during the day, and I find I reach for it more than any other. It brightens my complexion and makes my lips look so moisturised and lush. It feels great on the lips but is short-lasting (I wouldn't expect a sheer to last long, though) and i've found i've gone through the tube pretty quickly as you have to apply a lot of it to get enough colour. Don't use a liner with it - its nicer as a natural flush of colour without edges.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Hug Me
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:37:00 AM
This product is so-so. Its a very safe MLBB colour, works pretty well as a nude with most eye looks but its fairly boring and short wearing. The taste and packaging are the better aspects of this lipstick.

Brows -NYX - Auto Eyebrow Pencil - Medium Brown
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:34:00 AM
This is a review for Light Brown - i'm putting it here because there's no category for that shade. Shade-aside, its a good quality product that is long-lasting and easy to use. The auto aspect of the pencil works well but I suspect in warmer climates it might need to be refridgerated to prevent it melting and breaking off. I should have bought Brown as Light Brown is orange! I am a strawberry blonde and its too orange even on me - it would look dreadful on a blonde.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Single Eyeshadow in Greyish Brown
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:31:00 AM
This is just fantastic and totally underrated. Its a perfect cool-toned neutral brownish grey, I mainly use it as a wash with black liquid liner. I've also used it in a smokey eye, and as an elongated really soft wash top and bottom applied with a big fluffy brush - really great paired with a berry toned lip. I agree with the previous poster who said it is age-appropriate. I'm 35 and find it is a really safe neutral that has enough of a wow factor without being over the top. It brings out the green in my hazel eyes but I have to pair it with the right blush and lipstick otherwise it makes me look pallid.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cordouroy Matt Eyeshadow
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:27:00 AM
Cordouroy is definitely underrated. I find it a perfect all-purpose brown that works with nearly every neutral eye look. I use it mainly in the crease but also in the outer v, and as a liner applied top and bottom. I've spent years trying to find the perfect safe natural darker brown to compliment my hazel eyes, strawberry blonde hair and neutral fair skin. Cordouroy is it, I will definitely buy this again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Blackberry Eyeshadow
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:24:00 AM
I love Blackberry. A good quality matte long lasting versatile product. I use it on the outer v, as a liner to lift a neutral smokey eye, on the crease with a soft grey, or even as a wash. I find it creases as a wash pretty easily so make sure you use a good eye primer. Its a kind of classy almost 80s berry toned aubergine, really great with fair skin and a neutral lip. I have brownish hazelish greenish caramel coloured eyes - hard to describe and even harder to bring out the colour with e/s. Blackberry is one of the very few that can - it makes my eyes look green and bright.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shroom
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:19:00 AM
I LOVE this. Its an all-purpose perfect light neutral that is probably the most versatile product I own. Its great for many purposes, but the best I have found is as an inner eye highlighter, it lifts and brightens. I apply mine really lightly to the inner tear duct area with a fine eyeliner brush, then use a smudger to blend it out. Its also great with many smokey eye looks from natural neutrals through to night-time 'wow' looks. I have also used it to highlight my brow bone, and it even works as an emergency cheekbone highlighter if applied really lightly with a good brush. Shroom is excellent quality, the usual great MAC packaging, lasts forever and is definitely worth buying. It was my first MAC e/s light neutral, and i'm so glad I got it.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil - Milk
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:14:00 AM
I also wanted to love this product but I find it chalky, thick and hard to work with. Maybe i'm applying it wrong, but i've tried it with many good quality brushes and smudgers and it still looks awful. Also I don't like the shade - I wanted a more natural colour, not stark white. I have the Jumbo pencil in Iced Mocha and that's great, so I will definitely buy more Jumbos. Milk was a mistake.

Blush -NYX - Rouge Cream Blush - Golden
corgi75 12/9/2010 2:10:00 AM
I have NYX's cream blushes in Golden and Natural, both are great. As others have said, 'Golden' is a misnomer as its a natural pinkish beige with a very slight shimmer. I've got neutral fair skin and strawberry blonde hair and its about the most natural colour blush i've ever found. I apply mine with my fingertips and like most NYX products, it is a good safe cheap but great quality cream blush that rivals its expensive cousins. Definitely worth buying.

Treatments -Dermalogica - Gentle Cream Exfoliant
corgi75 5/13/2010 6:56:00 AM
Warning - terrible allergic reaction! I wanted to love this but it gave me a quite severe allergic reaction and rash. I don't have sensitive skin and am not at all allergy prone (i've never reacted badly to anything) but the day after using it I woke up in terrible pain and a with a fever. I had a puffy and swollen, red, hot, very roughly textured face that was particularly bad around my nose and jaw line. It was so bad after three days that I had to see a doctor and i'm really not the doctor type. Two days of antihistamine tablets later and its just starting to feel better in terms of itch and pain, but the roughness remains. I don't know which ingredient caused the problem and am so shocked this happened. Given i'm not allergy prone, i'd think only a rather extreme ingredient that could make me react. So I can't speak highly of this product even though I love many other Dermalogica ones...I think a leave-on mask exfoliant is a great idea in theory but it worries me how strong it has to be to manage to slough off dead skin cells without you having to agitate it.

Lipstick -NYX - Round lipstick- Rose
corgi75 4/27/2010 3:50:00 PM
I agree, its great on fair skin (i'm an NC20) - looks really bright in the tube but applies sheer and light. Quite good staying power and unlike many other cheapies, does not stain. The only problem is the cheap chemical taste and smell. Great spring colour and alternative for red.

Bronzers -Everyday Minerals - Soft Bronzer
corgi75 4/27/2010 12:44:00 PM
Hooray, a bronzer that PPPs can wear without looking ridiculous, orange, dirty, bronze or glitttery. I'm a neutral toned NW/C20, strawberry ashy blonde, brown eyes with some redness and uneven skintone. I'm pushing 35 with expanding pores and the beginnings of fine lines. I hate bronzer on fair skin, and wanted one just to look a bit healthier, like I have a natural flush with a bit of a gleam. I need a bronzer which is a neutral natural colour which is light enough to blend in naturally, yet dark enough to actually be worth using. This is the only bronzer i've ever bought that just gives me a proper natural glow without making me look unnatural, doesn't highlight pores or lines, and actually offsets my redness. I've tried Smashbox, NARS, Estee Lauder and MAC in my search for the perfect bronzer and all have paled in comparison to this one. I also use this as a contour and on lazy days a neutral eyeshadow. Its a perfect no-fail versatile product. Gave it a 4 due to its crappy packaging and clunky website...and the fact that Postage costs to Australia are absurd. Still, I have no choice because there's nothing else like it on the market.
