Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Lipslicks - Demure
rated 3 of 5

Just bought this today. The product itself provides adequate hydration for my lips, which chap easily. I'm a lip balm addict. The packaging is fine and the size of the lippie is fine too. It smells and tastes like regular lipstick. I would probably like it better if it was flavored. It'll do the job, though. If I do purchase again, I will know to try one of the darker colors. I was shy with this one because I thought it would be too pinky peach for me. I don't detect much if any pigment in the product.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Infallible Eyeliner in Black
rated 3 of 5

Glides on easily without skipping, pulling, or smearing. The only problem is that the formula isn't opaque or intense like Smashbox Jet Set liner. This formula tended to let some of the eyeshadow underneath show through a bit. Not a deal-breaker, because it did look pretty and did take on a different hue. However, I'm used to some pretty heavy black eyeliner, so I won't be using this on the lid any longer. It's great for tightlining which is something I've been looking for for quite awhile now. I also use it sometimes under the lower lashes and the little silicone smudge brush that comes with the pencil makes blending a breeze.

Mascara -Almay - One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect
rated 4 of 5
Viesha 1/12/2011 1:51:00 PM

Fantastic product. Coats lashes quickly and evenly. The formula is thick enough that you really don't need to add several coats. However, if you do decide on a second coat, work quickly, because the formula will cake like crazy and you'll end up with lashes that feel as though they're coated with glue. The brush was strange at first but I figured out that if I use only the longer end, I get good results. Formula does tend to glop a bit on the lid if you're not careful, so keep a moistened Q-tip handy. Produces long thick dramatic lashes and I really liked using it. However, there's a downside. Since the formula is so thick, the product tends to become dried up around the rim of the tube. Since you're basically pumping air into the tube every time you use the product, you end up with a very sticky crust that gets worse and worse over time. At the 2-month mark, it just became too icky to use. Because of this, I gave the packaging quality a 2. The price is decent and Almay always gives good results, so I switched to the original One Coat that I used back in the day and am very happy with the results.

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua eyes waterproof eyeliner pencil
rated 1 of 5
Viesha 10/22/2010 2:11:00 PM

Color is decent and does last but the actual pencil dries out after a few months and tugs on the eye like nobody's business. Considering the price, I don't see how it's a value. Also, after sharpening, the tip breaks off, leaving the pencil useless. I'm going with Urban Decay next time.

Misc Beauty Tools -Sonia Kashuk - Eyelash Curler
rated 2 of 5

I give this eyelash curler 2 lippies for being a decent eyelash curler. It works. I've had no problems with it. What I DID have a major problem with was being able to locate any sort of pad refill for the thing. I looked high and low - Target, CVS, Rite Aid, online. It appears that SK doesn't make an eyelash curler pad refill for this product. I wasted money on a generic assortment of pads only to find that none of them fit this curler despite their claim that they fit 'most'. Then, I wasted even more money buying the comical plastic Tweezerman curler. That went right into the garbage because it was so bad. The silicone pads that came with it, and yes, you guessed it, the 2 additional refills I bought along with it are now in my Eyelash Curler Pad Wasteland. For awhile, I was using one of the silicone pads in my SK curler, but last week, it decided not to fit anymore. The corner of the silicone pad keeps popping up and out of the SK curler, making curling my lashes quite a dangerous activity at 6:30 am each day. So, it is now in the trash. I no longer have the time or the money to waste on this product. I bought a Revlon eyelash curler at Ulta last week for $4.99. I've used it before and have had good results.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Aveeno 24-Hour Refreshing Body Moisturizer Blueberry + Goji Berry
rated 5 of 5
Viesha 9/13/2010 2:20:00 PM

My gym offered samples of this in little tubes so I grabbed two of them. This is really nice lotion. Seems a little pricey though, but I know that Aveeno is a good brand. Scent A light blueberry scent that doesn't overpower and dissipates after awhile. I don't know what Goji berries smell like. I know what they taste like, so I can only guess the that combination of blueberry and goji berry are what this lotion smells like. It's very pleasant. Consistency This is a light non-greasy lotion that really does last all day. I used it on my legs after shaving as well as my arms. My skin felt great and did feel nicely moisturized all day. Oddly enough, I'm actually craving the lotion right now. I only use lotion on my arms and legs on the weekend because I don't want the extra step on the weekdays. I may change this about my morning routine. Will definitely purchase once the sample runs out.

Conditioner -Neutrogena - Triple Moisture daily deep conditioner
rated 5 of 5
Viesha 8/7/2010 9:43:00 PM

I bought this a few months after trying the Deep Recovery Hair Mask from Neutrogena. I had been using it once or twice a week and my hair was noticeably in better shape. I wondered if using the hair mask daily would be even better but decided against it for two reasons. 1. Possible buildup. and 2. Reaching in and scooping out product from a tub creates a huge risk of dropping the whole thing in the shower and watching it go down the drain. I had seen this daily conditioner at my local Ulta and figured that if it was even half as good as the mask, it was worth a shot. It really is an excellent product. My poor dried up over processed, color treated strawlike hair really takes to this stuff. Even after rinsing, I can still feel that 'slip' that we all crave in a good conditioner. There is no buildup, and blowdrying is a breeze. My hair feels much softer during the day. I keep running my fingers through it because it's such an improvement over the salon conditioner I had been using for years. And, it a fraction of the price, who could complain? The tube with a flip top cap is perfect, and a little product goes a long way. Awesome stuff.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eyeshadow - Saddle
rated 5 of 5
Viesha 7/25/2010 5:40:00 PM

Outstanding color from MAC. This is a red/orange/brown with just the right amount of pigmentation for creases or under the eye. The formula is soft and buttery and blends easily without looking muddy. It's an excellent compliment to Swiss Chocolate but much lighter. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush Peachy Keen
rated 3 of 5
Viesha 7/25/2010 5:37:00 PM

This is a really pretty and sheer peachy pink glow for the cheeks. It's not super pigmented, which can be both good and bad. I use it on days when I want a little color, but nothing major. Since it's so sheer, it's buildable without producing an over-the-top blush streak as some formulas can do. I also have used it over a cream blush for a little extra kick. Very pretty. I bought it at the same time as Candid Carol, which appears to be just as sheer. Would I buy again? Probably not because this will probably last me forever.

Misc Beauty Tools -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills - Anastasia Tweezers
rated 5 of 5
Viesha 7/25/2010 5:32:00 PM

I'm a Tweezing Nut! I tweeze my brows daily, and once a week, I bring out the 10x mag mirror to do a major cleanup of brows AND chin hairs. You know what I mean ladies - the blades of grass and straw that grow wirey on your chin and drive you nuts even though most people can't even see them? Yeah, those. These babies are sharp and grab every little tiny hair - even the ones I can't see with the 10x mag mirror. I have to be careful to not grab chunks of skin when I tweeze because they literally pick up everything. My skin felt so smooth when I was done that it reminded me of when I used to wax. These were a valuable investment at $28 from Sephora. I wish I had heard of them much much sooner. I have been using Mehaz tweezers for 10 years which are good, but nothing compared to these. I've not used Tweezerman so I can't do a comparison, but definitely recommend these tweezers.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista
rated 5 of 5
Viesha 5/29/2010 11:06:00 PM

I bought this sometime last summer and have been using it pretty regularly. I can't believe I forgot to review it! This is a beautiful warm coral blush with a slight shimmer/sheen and amazing staying power. The color wakes up my pale skin. The packaging is so cute and I can't say enough about how superb this product is. The only downside is that because of the way it's packaged, I keep it at home. I wish there were a smaller version to keep in my makeup bag, because if there were, this would be the only blush I use. The brush that comes with it is okay, and I have used it, but I prefer to use my blush brushes to apply. Seriously an amazing product and I highly recommend that everyone go to their nearest Ulta or Sephora and try it for themselves to add a little glow to their day.

Treatments (Eye) -Peter Thomas Roth - Mega Rich Intensive Anti-Aging Cellular Eye Creme
rated 4 of 5
Viesha 5/18/2010 9:29:00 PM

Super rich hydrating eye creme. I don't notice huge results with minimizing fine lines, etc. However, I do feel good knowing that I'm using a quality product that really moisturizes my under eye area without causing a reaction. I've loved PTR products for years so I'm not surprised that their eye creme rocks. The packaging is decent, but small and a little goes a really long way so there's no need to use a huge amount at each application. Kinda pricey but worth it.

Cleansers -Eucerin - Gentle Hydrating Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
Viesha 5/18/2010 8:55:00 PM

This cleanser was disappointing. I used it for almost a week before bringing it back to Ulta for a refund. It didn't dry out my skin which is a plus, but it didn't make me feel like it did a thorough cleaning. Additionally, I've a feeling that it contributed to a recent breakout, which is a dealbreaker for me. In the shower, I used 2 pumps of the product to achieve a half decent lather. At the sink after using my makeup remover, I used 4 pumps to completely wash my face. And even then, it didn't quite feel like the cleanser removed all traces of makeup. This is 6 pumps total for one day compared with 2 pumps of my usual cleansers, Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash, Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel, and Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 3% Facial Wash. (I alternate between both PTR products). Sure, Eucerin costs much less than Dermalogica, but in the end, if you're talking about how concentrated the product is, Dermalogica, and brands in the same genre are much more cost-effective and produce better results. Eucerin's face and body moisturizers are excellent. Skip the cleanser, however.
