Skincare - Body -Sally Hansen - Airbrush Legs in Light Glow
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 6/7/2011 12:58:00 PM

This is a summer staple for me. I hate wearing pantyhose, but my legs are pale and usually a bruised and splotchy mess. This gives me a bit of color (I also use Jergen's gradual self tanner in the light color), smooths the skin's appearance, and hides any spider veins or bruises on my legs. It is lightly moisturizing and it stays on even when wet. I recommend spraying it on your hands and then applying it so that you don't end up with a bronze bathroom. If this is ever discontinued I will chop off my legs in protest.

Self Tanners -Jergens - Jergens Natural Glow Firming
rated 4 of 5
Ms_Stressa 5/31/2011 5:46:00 PM

I use this to remove the death-glow of my legs, and to even out/maintain other self-tanner products I sometimes use during the summer. What I like about the Jergens firming formula is that is absorbs quickly and doesn't feel sticky, and the color is pretty nice. Also, no terrible self-tan smell. Overall this is a summer staple for me.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Monoi de Tahiti oil
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 5/10/2011 5:02:00 PM

I just got back from Hawaii (I know, don't you feel sorry for me), and I have been on a bit of a tropical binge to keep the aloha spirit with me. I bought some Monoi Tahiti in both tiare and vanilla and I love them both for moisturizing my hair and skin. My hair was pretty shot out from all of my swimming, and a bit of this massaged though my hair before showering has helped tame the disaster. I also love the vanilla fragrance w/natural coconut oil, and it works well on cuticles, knees, elbows, etc. The only thing to be careful of is spilling it or using too much, and definitely don't use it as a moisturizer if you are going to use self tanner or bronzer, as it will act as a barrier cream.

Treatments -Nexxus - Emergencee Strengthening Polymeric Reconstructor
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 5/10/2011 4:27:00 PM

This Nexxus product I actually *did* read the reviews on, and I'm so glad I did. This has worked well to improve the strength and shine of my hair, although it feels weird on my hair while my hair is wet (and makes a slick mess of my shower.) I use this about once every one to two weeks, and so far I really love it. I have highlighted hair that I blow dry and straighten, and aging is also taking a toll on my hair - I'll take all the help I can get!

Conditioner -Nexxus - Pro Mend Split End Binding Daily Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
Ms_Stressa 5/10/2011 4:15:00 PM

Really should have come here before I purchased this. My hair has been pretty dry and beat up (and I like trying new products), so I bought this -- and it's a mess. Makes my hair dry and frizzy, yet it feels coated and weighed down. The coniditioner is thick and tacky feeling, almost as if it contains glue or something. Honestly, I even have a tough time washing it down my tub so I can't use it to shave my legs! It's not good. Save yourself the money and just get Joico or get your hair trimmed, hahahaha.

Blush -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster™ Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in rose
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 3/28/2011 5:55:00 PM

I got this with a combo CVS coupon and PF coupon, so it cost me less than $3. As with the Happy Booster highlighter, the packaging is cute, the brush useless, and the contents are good! The rose is a pink with blue overtones, and it gives me a nice flushed color with just a little bit on my brush (very pigmented.) There's just a slight bit of shimmer to this - more of a glow than glitter. If these weren't limited edition I would definitely buy them again, but I use blush so slowly that this will be long gone from the shelves before I even make a dent in it. Definitely a good buy and a great color.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
Ms_Stressa 3/10/2011 6:41:00 PM

I have mixed feelings on this product. I like the powder a lot, especially for under my eyes, as it doesn't settle into lines and wrinkles and it works well in combination w/my mineral powder. I also like that it comes in light colors (I think I am using cream light?) But -- and this is a really big 'but' -- this product has the worst/most awkward packaging in the world. Who designed this thing? It is impossible to flip the top and slide open the mirror compact without either dropping it or handling it very awkwardly, making it impossible to use for touchups. However, I like the powder enough that I will buy it again...but I will continue to gripe about the stupid compact!

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder in Translucent
rated 5 of 5

Bought this on a splurge and ended up really liking it -- the case is cute (although, as always, w/PF the brush is useless), the highlight/shimmer of this is very natural and flattering, and the little hearts pattern on it is adorable. I think the idea of "happiness extract" or whatever the claims are for this are ridiculous, but the cute packaging and product do make me smile, and for $12 that's enough happiness boosting for me. If you have large pores this may be a highlighter that you can actually enjoy using. So - heck yeah, I'm happy! If these stay on sale, I may spring for the blushes. I'm pretty sure this is a limited edition thing, but if it's still available when I run out, I'd purchase it again.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Shimmer strips custom eye enhancing eyeliner trio
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 3/1/2011 2:21:00 PM

These are awesome! Got them for hazel eyes, and they are the same colors as the gel liners, but in an automatic pencil form (similar to UD's longwear liners.) Amazing color, very smudgeproof, great size for travel, and they have a built in sharpener - love them! I'm going back to the store to stock up on more colors.

Moisturizers -Lumene - Blue Sensitive - Tender Drops Soothing Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 2/17/2011 5:18:00 PM

I usually don't have super sensitive skin, but recent windy and cold weather has given me a bad case of windburn and dryness. This moisturizer was gentle enough to help my poor face recover and felt light but very moisturizing (I normally have oily/combination skin.) I don't think I'd be able to use this during the summer months, but for right now it's definitely useful. Here's my favorite windburn joke: "my face hurts"; "I know; it's killing me!" Hahahahah - baDUM-bump!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Walking on Eggshells
rated 3 of 5
Ms_Stressa 2/17/2011 4:58:00 PM

Normally I love W&W shadows (especially the new Color Icon ones), but this is just too shimmery for me to wear for every day. If they made this in a matte version I would be in heaven, but for now I only use it as accent colors. Still, it was $3 so it's not like the world's greatest tragedy or something! If you like shimmer and have younger eyelids, this could be great for you. Me, not so much.

Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - AHA Souffle 12 percent Glycolic AHA
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 2/17/2011 4:55:00 PM

I love this stuff -- I use it at night, and it makes such a difference with my face and neck. My skin feels super smooth and looks much brighter and refreshed. I took a couple of points off for packaging, since it is a jar and that's not very hygenic (vs. a pump dispenser), but this is one product that I will never be without.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Velvet Amber Blackberry [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 12/30/2010 11:07:00 AM

Oh God -- this has been my "go to" fragrance for over a year now, and so of course it's being discontinued. I love how warm and soft it is, and how the blackberry note is subtle and not sweet. The lotion is great and really makes the body spray last. It's on sale now at 75% off, so I've stocked up my fragrance bunker (seriously, I have five bottles of spray and five bottles of lotion in the back of my fridge) and I'll weep myself silly on the day when I finally run out of this. Curse you, Victoria's Secret, for making me love this and then taking it away from me!

Styling Products -Aveeno - Active Naturals Nourish + Style Smoothing Shine Creme
rated 3 of 5
Ms_Stressa 12/30/2010 10:58:00 AM

I like this overall as a styling creme and it does a good job, but I probably won't buy it again as I get a slightly off/fishy scent when I put it on the ends of my hair. The scent does go away (or at least I hope it does), but still....it's not pleasant. Maybe it's the protein in it? I'm going to try something else to tame my crazy winter hair, because fishy just doesn't do it for me.

Conditioner -Joico - K-Pak Reconstruct Daily Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
Ms_Stressa 10/19/2010 6:19:00 AM

A friend gave me this because her partner couldn't stand the smell of it (I don't notice anything smelly, but I have a cold so maybe I'm just fooling myself there) and because my hair is a bleached and flat-ironed mess. I have no idea if my hair is protein sensitive or whatever - I have a ton of hair, it's very thick, and it doesn't do what I want most days (story of my life.) Recently it's been really dry and frizzy but with oily roots, and some breakage and damage from too many highlights. Anyway, this conditioner and the Joico shampoo are really making a difference with my hair - it doesn't feel great going on in the shower, but my hair feels softer and silkier than it has in some time, and it looks much shinier and healthy. I'm alternating between this and VO5 tea therapy conditioner just because this is so heavy, and so far I like the results. I just hope that when I get over this cold I don't find out that my hair smells bad.
