Liquid -Sue Devitt - 70% Triple Seaweed Gel Foundation

I am on the fence about this. The color may be a bit too yellow/orange for me. I wear Quiet & Still and am a BB Warm Ivory/MAC NC20. If blended correctly, this gives great light coverage and doesn't feel like you have anything on. But, I have a hard time blending this because it is so slippery and dries quickly. It ends up looking maybe fine on my nose and cheeks but cakey on my forehead and chin. I can't decide if I am going to keep this or not because I'm not sure if it is worth the trouble.

Palettes -Stila - 5-Pan Holiday
rated 5 of 5
Marbela 1/4/2003 5:23:00 PM

This is by far the best Stila 5-Pan! It has three shadows, a gloss and a convertible color. The lightest shadow is a beige with goldish shimmer- beautiful on the lid or browbone. The middle color is a very shimmery gold/brown/beige that looks beautiful in the crease or as a liner. The deepest color, similar to Stila Espresso (in the Cocoa DD Palette) is an almost black chocolately brown with slight shimmer. Deeper than Java and no red or gold shimmer like Twig. The gloss looks pink but goes on basically clear. The convertible color, which I believe will be released in the spring as Amaryllis, looks like a deep reddish peachy brown but goes on as a great peachy pink with slight brown undertones. I will have to buy another one of these before they disappear because I love it so much! I have fair (Stila B) skin with dark brown hair and eyes and this is one of the most versatile palettes I have. It's great for day and can easily make a great smoky eye for night. I seriously cannot rave enough about it, can you tell? I only wish that Stila wouldn't put such a horrible brush in. It's too small for shadow and too fluffy to be a good lip brush. For $30, they have room for a decent shadow brush. But, I can overlook it for the great colors! :)

Crème -Becca - Stick Foundation
rated 4 of 5
Marbela 8/16/2002 11:35:00 PM

This is the best stick foundation I've ever used for my oily skin. Bobbi Brown's was way too greasy, LM's didn't work. I like the texture of Becca's- it isn't too moist and blends really nicely. The coverage is light and buildable so you never look too made up (not that anything Becca ever could!) My only gripe is that it isn't great for oily skin... but with a good primer, powder and blotting, this is a very nice foundation to use when you're in a hurry.

Highlighters -Becca - 'GYPSY' Loose Shimmer Powder
rated 5 of 5
Marbela 8/16/2002 11:34:00 PM

Gypsy is the most fantastic cool pink with gold shimmer. It gives my cheeks an almost cherubic glow. The shimmer isn't too much at all- it's subtle and gorgeous. Can't rave enough!

Primer/ Corrector -Becca - Mattifying Primer

Isn't this called a Mattifying Primer? It did nothing to mattify me. I might as well have had nothing on. Get a sample of this before you buy.

Cleansers -NARS - Balancing Foam Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
Marbela 8/8/2002 11:33:00 AM

This is a wonderful cleanser for all skin types. It foams gently, takes off all makeup (even mascara!) and rinses cleanly without stripping leaving my face feeling smooth and clean. It has a pleasant, light orange scent. My only issue is the packaging- who puts face wash in a tube??? It has a huge, heavy, unnecessary cap at the bottom that makes it clumsy, but looks pretty. Otherwise, this is an excellent cleanser and I was pleasantly surprised.

Lip Gloss -Becca - Glossy Lip Tint
rated 4 of 5
Marbela 8/2/2002 10:47:00 AM

A lot of people dislike the smell; it doesn't bother me at all and I don't notice any taste. These glosses go on so creamily (is that a word?) and smooth, they feel wonderful! I have it in pink-gold which is as it sounds. my only gripe is it's so sheer! It's barely there. But, it's minimalistic and that's what Becca is all about!

Pressed Powders -Becca - Fine Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
Marbela 7/29/2002 1:59:00 PM

The thing I love most about this powder is the compact. It's so sleek and pretty! That overwith... to the powder. It's very finely milled and will never look cakey/mask-like. THe colors are the same as the loose powder. As Jenny said, this is not an oil-absorbing pressed powder, it is more of a finishing powder in a compact. If you're looking for a powder to use to blot oil during the day, this is not it.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Bilitis
rated 4 of 5
Marbela 7/29/2002 12:32:00 PM

Bilitis was way too dark for my fair skin, even when I applied it sheerly with a lipbrush. It is an extremely deep cranberry plum color. This would look great on darker skintones, but I looked like Vampira!

Lipstick -NARS - Catfight
rated 4 of 5
Marbela 7/29/2002 12:30:00 PM

Catfight is a light, shimmery pink with a touch of lavender. I found that this lipstick had a drier consistency than other NARS lipsticks, but it could have been the one I got.

Lipstick -NARS - Galaxy Girl
rated 3 of 5
Marbela 7/29/2002 12:29:00 PM

Like Pheebie, I was very disappointed by this. In the tube, it's a rosy pink infused with gold shimmer. On my lips, it was just gold shimmer, the rosy pink had disappeared. This is so so so sheer that only the shimmer comes through. Not recommended.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Sunset Strip
rated 4 of 5
Marbela 7/29/2002 12:28:00 PM

Sunset Strip is a mango-peach color. It didn't work with my complexion, but it would look wonderful on darker skin tones. The shimmer is just right, and it lasts a long time. Great lipgloss for summer!

Lipstick -NARS - Lipstick in Gipsy, Dolce Vita
rated 5 of 5
Marbela 7/29/2002 12:26:00 PM

Two of my favorite lipstics! Dolce Vita is a definite "your lips but better" color-- a pinky mauve color. Gipsy is a red, but not a scary red, more of a berry red. They both go on so smoothly and while they aren't glossy, they aren't matte either, just moist. The rubber packaging is very sleek-- they're very expensive at $21 a pop (for not very much l/s) but these are definite staples!
