Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences "Tousle Me Softly" Shampoo
Lynsi01 2/21/2011 12:56:00 PM
Been using this with the corresponding conditioner for about 2 weeks now. I am pleasantly surprised! I have medium-long hair that is fine, and it tangles SO easily, and oily roots. My ends are very processed and dry, but I'm more concerned with being greasy up top. This shampoo cleanses very well, but is also very gentle. I wouldn't recommend it for really dry hair in the least. That being said, I usually just shampoo my roots and let the suds kinda get on the ends. The scent was a little disappointing to me. When I think Herbal Essences I think of amazing scents that make me want to stay in the shower all day. This was a little too floral for me, to the point where it makes my sinuses hurt a little. But at the same time it's not strongly fragranced IMO, so I can tolerate it. And my hair doesn't hold onto scent anyway. As far as it being 'touseled,' when I let my hair air dry there's definitely a strong wave to it. I haven't tried using a diffuser or styling products to enhance that yet. But I do like the fact that I can run my fingers from my roots to my ends and not get stuck!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
Lynsi01 11/3/2010 7:58:00 AM
When I first tried this, I thought it was another disappointing drugstore mascara. I'm glad I actually read the back of the package, and switched the spoon brush around so I was literally scooping up my lashes. WOW what a difference!! I always use an eyelash curler, but my lashes on my right eye are extremely straight and would never curl. This stuff actually lifts, seperates, and defines my lashes, just like a good push up bra :) Comes off easily too. This will be a staple for me for a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time!

Shampoo -Pantene - ICE SHINE
Lynsi01 11/8/2009 1:16:00 PM
I've been using this for close to 3 weeks. I picked it up because I need to switch to a cheaper shampoo, and my hair's been messed up since pregnancy. My hair is fine but dense, falls flat easily, and gets greasy by the end of the day. I would definitely not recommend this shampoo for those with dry hair. It does thoroughly clean. The first few times I used it my hair was rather tangly and dry feeling, but repeated use has made it a lot better. I am using this in conjunction with the conditioner. It seems to make my hair much smoother and less rough feeling, in fact it's so silky and shiny that I have a hard time keeping ponytail holders in! And I can't stop touching it. My hair does have tons of added shine too. I think I'm gonna try sticking with this one for a while!

Mascara -Bare Escentuals - brushless mascara
Lynsi01 2/1/2009 4:58:00 PM
HOLY GRAIL MASCARA. I've repurchased several times. My lashes have never looked so good. They are fairly long and have a hard time holding a curl. This stuff is fantastic. I curl my lashes first, then blink onto the wand several times, and it's just like BAM! LASHES! Doesn't flake or smudge, or irritate my sensitive eyes! My coworkers even commented when I first started wearing it!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
Lynsi01 10/19/2008 5:36:00 PM
I guess I'm in the MUA minority, but BE is a holy grail for me. However, the FIRST time I tried it a few years back, it was bad. I broke out, skin was flaky, etc. Tried it again last November, and I love it. It covers all my imperfections without looking heavy, the color is perfect, and it's pretty quick and easy for me. I got my mom using it, and all the girls at work using it without any issues. I have a ton of stuff from BE now and love it all. :)

Shampoo -Nexxus - Phyto Organics Chromalife
Lynsi01 10/13/2008 10:05:00 PM
I have fine, dense, color treated hair that tends to get oily at the roots. It tends to get very tangly, even throughout the day. It's hard for me to decide which problem to correct: the oiliness, or the dry tangly ends. Well, this stuff takes care of both. It's a pearlescent(sp) shampoo, lathers well for a sulfate-free formula, and it smells absolutely DIVINE. Seriously, if anything just go into a salon and sniff it. It's done a great job of balancing out my hair. It cleanses thoroughly but gently. I've even done some comparisons with my old shampoo, ColorSmart. I can totally tell the difference. My hair is much more manageable, shinier, less greasy, just overall perfect when I use this shampoo. I don't think this would be a bad shampoo for anyone, honestly. I actually just ordered liter sizes of this and the conditioner from my stylist because I was practically drinking the stuff. HG!

Treatments -Bare Escentuals - Rare Minerals Blemish Therapy
Lynsi01 3/10/2008 8:46:00 PM
got this on Saturday at a makeover event. They applied it to some problem areas prior to the makeup. The sheer tint of it helps a lot with redness, and I found that it really did speed up the healing of the pimples I had. I get a lot of tiny underground zits and I've been applying it to a few I felt coming since Sat. night and they don't really come to a head, but they purge, if that makes any sense at all. I can definitely smell the tea tree oil in it, but it's not horrible at all and the scent fades quickly. I'm going to be brave tonight and try just using this treatment in place of my benzaclin prescription. I'm hoping that this will banish zits without leaving a dry patch behind. As far as the packaging goes, I don't see why they put RareMinerals night treatment in a container with a mirror and not this. The night treatment you can just swirl on all over, but this stuff you need to see the spots you're putting it on. I think a nice little compact with a mirror would work great with this. Just a tip for the product development team out there! :)

Eye Primer -Bare Escentuals - bareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer
Lynsi01 3/10/2008 8:33:00 PM
got this on saturday. I LOVE IT! it smoothes out the eye lid and evens the color so your shadows stay true to color. It's the perfect level of hydration IMHO. It's got a light, sheer nude tint to it. I have discovered also that it works well to help conceal dry patches that I have after zits! I tried this today before my shadow and typically about midway thru the day, my shadows are creased up or gone entirely. It still looks perfect. Amazing! The only thing I would change is maybe the tip of the applicator. It's a little hard sponge tip and I feel a brush tip would work better. The only thing I can compare this product to is Benefit She-Laq, which is a paint on sealer. This seems to make shades last just as long without the dry tightness that She Laq causes. I think it's worth a try for everyone!

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
Lynsi01 1/18/2008 8:53:00 PM
***PSA: THIS IS A HOLY GRAIL ALERT*** got this stuff in the LE House of Miracles set from Sephora. It's AMAZING. I first looked at it in the jar and thought, oh, this is gonna be thick and heavy. I couldn't be further from the truth. It's got an incredible whipped texture, and it just melts into my skin. I use in the AM and as soon as I put it on, it makes my skin absolutely GLOW. It's not heavy, greasy, or anything. I've been looking for a moisturizer that would replace my discontinued Lancome Impactive for years, and this by far is it. No breakouts, smoother skin, light pleasant scent. I only wish there was a more sanitary way to use it rather than dipping fingers into a jar! Already repurchased!

Treatments -Bare Escentuals - Rare Minerals
Lynsi01 1/18/2008 8:48:00 PM
this is a product that I would give 10000000 lippies to if I could. if you haven't tried it, RUN TO SEPHORA AND GET IT NOW!!!! I originally got this in a try me size from qvc in their Miracles kit. Yes, the pillow puff applicator can be annoying and waste a lot of product, but it is handy for those nights where I just don't feel like breaking out a brush for it. The packaging is about convenience, and it does achieve that. The first time I used it, it at first felt a little chalky and I figured it was a gimmick. But after about 10 minutes, my skin felt MOISTURIZED. I had some tight flaky spots and they felt so much better after application. I don't get how a mineral powder can draw moisture into the skin, but this sneaky little gem did it. The next morning, I had a few teensy tiny whitehead-type pimples that were easy to extract and they immediately went away. Ok, a little purging never hurt anyone. Fast forward to week 2, and my skin is clear, even (any redness was completely gone), my pores are SIGNIFICANTLY SMALLER, my dark circles are GONE, the crepeness that was starting on my eyelids is GONE (I'm almost 25) and the small crows feet I was starting to see are GONE. This truly is amazing stuff. I even asked DH for some for Christmas. I will NEVER be without this stuff!!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals in 1.2, fairly light
Lynsi01 1/18/2008 8:39:00 PM
ok, originally I tried this stuff a few years back when my skin was really going thru a hard time, and it was terrible. In fact it seemed to make it worse. Fast forward to Dec 07, after sitting thru many infomercials and several trips to Sephora, I finally buckled under the pressure and let the SAs put it on me in the store. I watched them first put it on my mom and saw her glowing results, and then tried it myself. I have to say, I was very surprised. My skin looked perfect. Needless to say, I walked out with the starter kit. At first I was afraid the fairly light shade would be too light, but once I saw it on with the warmth I thought it'd be ok (though I like faux tan more than warmth on my skintone). Now I've been using it everyday for over a month and all I can say is wow. My skin has totally cleared up of any little blemishes I had. I don't know exactly what to credit that to but I'm not changing a thing. I think a big part of BE is to use their brushes. I thought the brushes I had were fine to use with it, but there was a clear difference in effect. I've since bought the Complexion Enhancing kit (with well rested, faux tan, pure radiance, and feather light mineral veil + brushes), prime time, buxom lips, brow kit, blush in first class, a few e/s, and big tease mascara. And I've been using RareMinerals for a while, but that's another review :) Anywho, to anyone who maybe tried it before and didn't like it, I encourage you to try it again, just to see. UPDATE: This has become my HG brand. Love everything about it! And I don't break out nearly as bad as I used to. After using this several months, I went to a liquid fdn just to see, and hated every second of it.

Liquid -Chanel - Teint Innocence [DISCONTINUED]
Lynsi01 12/16/2007 3:29:00 PM
I guess I'm different than the other reviewers. I really wanted to like this foundation. But it seemed to actually make my skin feel dry, even though it wasn't a matte finish. I have large pores on either side of my nose, and it seemed more to emphasize them rather than diffuse them. It was quite liquidy, and I've always had a problem with runny liquid foundations in a glass bottle/jar that you are expected to pour into your hand, wasting product. This fdn definitely needs a pump. I'll stick with my mineral foundations.

Skincare - Face -Philosophy - House of Miracles
Lynsi01 11/28/2007 10:50:00 PM
I've never used any of Philosphy's skin care. I've often wondered how the Amazing Grace scent was, especially during those compelling QVC promos. When I got my Sephora catalog and saw this kit, I couldn't think of a better way to try the brand. The House of Miracles comes with smaller sizes (think travel size) of Purity facial cleanser, Hope in a Jar moisturizer, and Amazing Grace shampoo, bath, and shower gel 3-in-1. There's a lot of mixed reviews on the boards about these products individually. As far as a set, I think it's downright adorable and something that a lot of women will enjoy. The box it all comes in is in the shape of a little house. CUTE! I think the value of this product is great too, only $30.00. $10 per item. Not bad. The first item I tried was the Amazing Grace bath gel. I don't know where this scent has been my entire life, but it's the perfect blend of powdery, soapy musk. I can definitely see this becoming my signature scent. It's not too much at all, and compliments my shampoo/cond. fragrance. And the scent lightly lingers all day! As a body wash, it's nicely moisturizing, not too much, not too little. I've used Purity with my clarisonic and it works very well. Gets all makeup off and my skin doesn't feel dry at all, but not greased up either. I used it to remove eye makeup and didn't have any irritation. The first time I used Hope in a Jar, the first thought that came to mind, literally, was "This is what moisturizer is SUPPOSED to feel like." It looked almost solid in the jar, but when I dipped a finger in it was extremely light and absorbed very quickly. It left my skin feeling perfectly balanced. And I wasn't nearly as oily at work today. As long as I have no adverse reactions I think this could possibly ::knocks on wood:: become a holy grail. Overall, if you haven't tried Philosophy and want to, give this adorable kit a whirl. :)

Conditioner -Matrix - Shade Memory Vivid Reds Color Enhancing Foam Conditioner - Warm
Lynsi01 11/25/2007 5:41:00 PM
I've been using this system as a whole for about a week. I have a terrible time keeping red in my hair. My neighbor is licensed and did a lovely strawberry color with blonde highlights for me about a week ago, and suggested I try this line. I've been very pleased with the line in its entirety. Here are my thoughts on the foaming conditioner: I like the concept behind this product. A color depositing foam. However, there's nothing conditioning about it. It's very difficult to 'comb through evenly' with my tangle prone hair. I apply it heavily on the ends where I experience the most color loss. I do think it does its job for freshening color up. My hair does seem brighter and even after I use this. I do have to follow up with the corresponding conditioner to be able to detangle my hair. My only concerns are if this will tend to build up over time. But so far so good!

Conditioner -Matrix - Shade Memory-Vivid Reds
Lynsi01 11/25/2007 5:35:00 PM
I've been using this system as a whole for about a week. I have a terrible time keeping red in my hair. My neighbor is licensed and did a lovely strawberry color with blonde highlights for me about a week ago, and suggested I try this line. I've been very pleased with the line in its entirety. Here are my thoughts on the conditioner: Same as the shampoo, be cautious if you're sensitive to fragrance. I personally love the scent, but I could see how some people might think it's too much. This conditioner is a great compliment to the shampoo. It's rather thin and liquidy, so a pump might be a better package than the bottle. It's not heavily moisturizing and it's very lightweight. I find it works a little bit better if I leave it on for a minute. Otherwise it doesn't really do a good job on tangles. Sometimes, if I haven't brushed my hair before getting in the shower, I mix a little Feria conditioner in with it just on the ends so I can comb thru. But I believe it has to be lightweight in order to maintain the bounciness. I do think my red has remained better since using this conditioner. And my hair is MEGA shiny! Overall a nice product, as long as your hair isn't severely dry.
