Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream

Okay, first, I'm using the Walmart generic version of this, Equate, and I like the smell; kinda like an expensive lotion. Floral. If you don't like smelly things, use the unscented(I think I saw it posted?). Anyway, I hate all things heavy and greasy and this is just the perfect amount of moisture for me. It has cleared up my dry skin and I've even felt my skin firming up a bit, in the cheek area. I don't see any reduction in wrinkles though. I find this good for moisture and really nothing much else. The firming effect is minimal(in my case). I do notice that my skin is glowing a bit more since using this. And yes, I do notice(when my face is pressed smack up into the mirror)the miniscule particles of glitter. Very tiny though so it's not a problem. Hasn't caused any acne or clogging of pores. For $15.99, it's not a bad average facial moisturizer. I just wanted a bit more "something" going on with this, since it is an anti-aging cream. It acts more as a standard everyday moisturizer. But better than most! My makeup goes on more smoothly and no dry patches show anywhere. However, it is a tad sticky.UPDATE:Almost finished with this and WILL NOT be repurchasing! Causes acne and doesn't moisturize enough. So, gonna bump it down from its 4, to a 2. Also, I didn't notice one thing positive that this cream did. NADA! Too expensive to do NOTHING!

Shampoo -TRESemme - Vitamin E Moisture Rich Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
JenJenofAz 7/14/2012 12:33:00 AM

I bought the generic version at my local Dollar General, at $2.50 for the shampoo and $2.50 for the conditioner. Both a BIG 32oz. bottle. Not too bad, but NOTHING special either. I mean, it's not like I'd ring-a-ling anybody up and say, "Go and pick some up!" Uhm, NO. This is just your everyday BASIC stuff. Maybe a bit better than those cheapie Suave's and V05's(still can't believe I've used those drying things!). It smells nice and cleanses well. The conditioner isn't really that moisturizing. Like I said, it's the basic stuff. I only purchased this set because Dollar General is closest to my home(out here in the middle of nowhereville)and it was cheap(I mean, it's a 32oz! Who wouldn't be tempted!) My son used it and had better results. His hair looked super clean and shiny. Felt real nice and soft, too. I color my hair, so I NEED much more moisture than this set provides, such as the MOTIONS hair products. Not bad, just not so great either. Average. But then, to be honest, most hair products have proven to be just that, "average". With all of my hair problems, it would take a rocket scientist to come up with something fantastic! UPDATE:Thought I'd mention, since using the "REAL" stuff, it works MUCH better, than did the Dollar General version. The Dollar General version lists herbs as a few of the ingredients. None are in the TRESemme version. Dollar General's has more ingredients. They both smell exactly the same, but TRESemme seems to be less drying for my hair. Herbal shampoos/conditioners were always more drying for my hair. Hair feels clean and soft! Upped to a 4! Oh, and the TRESemme is a HUGER bottle at 39oz and it has a pump! I got my set at Target, each at $5.99.

Mascara -Almay - One Coat Dial Up
rated 2 of 5
JenJenofAz 6/5/2012 12:24:00 AM

Got mine @Dollar Tree. HATE IT! Don't get the "dial" thing at all, as they all apply the same to me! GUNKY JUNKY lashes every time! And how, in the world, do you wipe off the excess??? My tube is so filthy! This makes my lashes look like thick spider legs, and that's with just one coat(can't believe this is even from Almay)! Also used it as a liner, with a brush, and it stayed on ALL day(the only positive to this thing). The WORST mascara I've ever used!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Africa's Best Ultimate Hair oil with Ginseng
rated 4 of 5

Love this oil...........For EVERYTHING! Since having highlighted my hair, I mix this in with my Motions conditioners and my hair is soft and manageable. I like the soft "baby lotion" scent. It's also light for an oil. Which I like, as anything heavy weighs my hair down and makes it look greasy. I also love it in the bath and in lotions. I don't like the lid as a lot pours out/leaks out.

Hair Color -Revlon - Frost & Glow Highlighting Kit
rated 4 of 5
JenJenofAz 4/16/2012 9:42:00 PM

I colored my hair with Revlon's #20, Dark Brown/Black. So, I used the Frost & Glow kit in Honey. I left it on for only 20 minutes, because I didn't want (nor do I look good with) blonde highlights! I have reddish highlights now and they look awesome with my dark hair! The kit is VERY drying to hair. I did the whole process by MYSELF and it sucked BAD! I did every hole in the circle, yes, by MYSELF with the bathroom mirror as my only help, so it was time consuming(hell yeah, I took a few breaks)! So, if you can get help, that would save loads of time and frustration. I was so hot and sweaty(and "B!tchy! Hubby even thought the moment was right for a few pics) when I was done that I couldn't wait for a cold shower(and a couple o' beers)! Next time, I think I'll go to Sally's for a chunking cap and leave the solution on a bit longer(this sounds easier, I think). Oh, and I tried getting away with using half of the kit, but it wasn't enough, so I did end up using ALL of it. I remember being in highschool and using a peroxide spray on my hair.........My highlights kinda remind me of that look I had back then, just not quite as orange, as I didn't leave the Frost & Glow solution on very long. Got mine @Walmart for $6.99. Not a bad kit, but I prefer all over color and this was just too darn time consuming for me doing it solo. Oh, it is drying, like I had mentioned above, but my hair isn't so bad after using leave in conditioners from MOTIONS. After a couple of days, my hair feels soft again. Perhaps if I redid it, I may just do a few highlights and not every circle? And yes, that cheap plastic hook was hell to get the hang of at first, but eventually, I did "get it" and it wasn't too bad. Anyway, I think I spent around nearly FOUR hellish hours on this "beauty" treatment(not a joke). Everyone says my highlights look great. Because I did every hole in the darkened circles, the highlights really aren't subtle, you DO notice them. So, for a more subtle appearance, I'd probably do every other circled hole. UPDATE: Did another round of only doing every other circled hole and the highlights look BETTER and more natural. Easier too! Since I didn't pull out huge chunks of hair, the look is more subtle, but that's how I prefer my highlights anyway. So, because I do it this way, one kit can now last me two rounds. Also, this time around, my hair was not as dry as the first time I highlighted my hair. Besides my Motions hair care, I'm also using Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil. UPDATE:Since this has proven to be too drying, I've decided to give it up. And just when I got the hang of it! Oh, well! It has now left my hair in ruins. It's TOO dry, brittle, falling out worse than ever, lots of breakage.............LOVED the results! SO SAD, but SO NOT worth all the hassle in the end!

Bronzers -Maybelline - expertwear_solarenergy_bronzer_sundust
rated 2 of 5

I got mine, too, @Dollar Tree. Mine comes in a tube. I mix in a bit with foundation, and don't notice a thing at all. I find it works better alone. I even used it as a gloss, and seems better suited for that than anything. Not much to it. Very light and non-greasy feeling. PASS. I've used better bronzers from L.A. Colors.

Brows -Jordana - FabuBrow eyebrow pencil - 03 dark brown
rated 5 of 5
JenJenofAz 3/7/2012 12:53:00 PM

I also have this in 03/Dark Brown and LOVE it! Seems to stay put throughout the day. I previously used those cheapie pencils from N.Y.C. or Wet n Wild, and they never lasted at all! I got tired of my brows disappearing at the end of the day, so I gave this a try, when I spotted it @Kmart. So glad I bought it! LOVE the creamy formula! Easy to use and I like having the brush on the cap. It is, like the other reviewer mentioned, a bit hard to blend, but I also use the powder duo and don't seem to have much of a problem. Also, I don't spot any red tones in this brow pencil as some others seem to have. If it's in here, it's very light and not noticeable. A true dark brown eyebrow pencil. LOVE this and Jordana's brow duo in Black! My brows are looking natural now. How awesome is that? I don't wear much makeup, but brows are SO important, especially because I don't have any!

Brows -Jordana - Brow and Eyeshadow Powder Single
rated 5 of 5
JenJenofAz 3/7/2012 12:35:00 PM

I'm using Jordana's Brow Powder Duo in 04/Black. It comes with a dark brown and a black shade of brow powder. Before, I had been using Maybelline's light brown eyebrow powder and thought it was just okay. It never stayed put throughout the day and the shade was a bit light for me. But, I LOVE this brow duo! The shades are awesome on their own! And it stays put! I don't bother using a pencil when I use this duo. The colors are dark, so I don't have to use a lot of it. The mini brush does take some time getting used to, but it works great! LOVE THIS! So much better than Maybelline's stuff! I got mine @Kmart. I love how this is a firm brow powder, so you're not wasting any of it, and it's not messy or dusty.

Foundations -New York Color - Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup
rated 4 of 5
JenJenofAz 3/3/2012 9:49:00 PM

Wish this had a pump, as it is super thick to get out of the glass bottle. I use a q-tip to dig a bit out. I like this MUCH better than Rimmel's Clean Finish. That was a bit gunky and the colors were just nasty looking. This feels quite nice on my skin, even though it feels heavy, it's a light coverage and covers well. Also stays put well. Not bad for an inexpensive makeup brand. Haven't had any breakouts. I use the ivory shade, although I find it to be a bit too light.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Motions - Weightless Conditioning Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
JenJenofAz 3/3/2012 9:41:00 PM

I'm using the Motions Lavish Conditioning Shampoo, that I had picked up at Kmart. LOVE it! It smells great and it is SO moisturizing! It's helping to get my yucky, dry, straw-like hair back into shape, as I've used everything that's cheap, like shampoos, conditioners, haircolors, etc. You name it, I've tried it and now my hair has paid for it all. This is the best moisturizing shampoo I've used yet! Wish there was a huge bottle. Maybe I'll check Sally's Beauty Supply............This stuff works SUPER for me! I have straight hair that is colored and has become thin but coarse, because of a thyroid condition. This softens my hair and keeps it manageable. And I don't have to use a lot like other shampoos. AWESOME STUFF! I also LOVE the spray leave-in conditioner and the Oil Moisturizer Hair Lotion! I use this trio and my hair feels awesome now! Just purchased the daily conditioner and that really leaves my hair feeling SOFT! In the shower, the texture of the conditioner felt heavy and sticky, but it really does the job well! After just highlighting my hair, MOTIONS has made it feel SOFT again! GREAT line of hair care! My #1 fav!

Treatments -RoC - Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle Serum
rated 4 of 5
JenJenofAz 3/3/2012 9:35:00 PM

I had to stop the Walgreens glycolic stuff, as it was making my skin peel and itch. I thought I'd pick this up from Kmart, for $21.99, and I'm so glad that I did! I Love the smell and it really has helped clear up my skin and keep it soft. Not BIG on eradicating the wrinkles, but they have softened, so it's a winner for me and my oily skin. I like the gold glass bottle and the pump. Dispenses very little at a time. Not very moisturizing, but it is a serum. LOVIN' it so far! Also, I find it firms my skin a bit. UPDATE:Guess this stuff must be working out better than I thought! At a recent baby shower, I was told that I had lovely clear skin. That was, indeed, quite nice to hear!

Pressed Powders -New York Color - Pressed Translucent Powder
rated 3 of 5
JenJenofAz 2/5/2012 7:47:00 PM

Def. for the LIGHTEST people! I got this powder in translucent, and now I'm a member of the goth club, as it makes my face so white! It's also chalky and doesn't cover well at all. Very cakey. Had to reapply continuously throughout the day and it never covered well, but it did help with my oily skin better than other compact powders. Didn't cause any breakouts. Oh, and I agree, the packaging is flimsy. Both compacts have already broke and I had to transfer the powder to another container. So, yes, I guess I'd buy again, in another color, because it DOES help with my oily skin, but it really doesn't offer me any coverage at all.

Blush -L.A. Colors - Pink Blush #BSB332
rated 2 of 5
JenJenofAz 12/22/2011 4:04:00 PM

Got Berry Plum, BSB335, @Dollar Tree. Looks a bit too dark for my light skin, but barely goes on at all! The itty-bitty mini brush is lame, but it doesn't matter what brush I use, it's hard to get some on! Strange, as their eyeshadows are chalky and messy, this is opposite. Pretty color(VERY light berry mauve), but a definite pass. LOVE their bronzer!

Treatments (Eye) -Merlot - Grape Seed Eye Cream
rated 3 of 5
JenJenofAz 12/21/2011 5:36:00 PM

For its softness to the eye area, I do like it, but I didn't notice any reduction in the puffiness/bags department. Smells nice and applies nicely. SILKY texture. I mix a bit in my moisturizer and I do like that my face feels soft. For that alone, I guess I'd repurchase. Also, this doesn't sting the eye area. Seems to be very gentle, as I haven't had any problems with it. I just think it works better as a face cream. UPDATE: Seems to no longer work for me, in the eye area, as it now makes my eyes blow up like a puffer fish; kinda like I'd been in a boxing ring getting my eyes punched out by George Foreman. SERIOUSLY, they looked that BAD, I kid you NOT! And everyone who saw them were shocked. "What the hell happened to you?!" NOT good. Also, after it left me looking like Mrs. Puff, it began to peel under my eyes, and they itched terribly! SUCKS it didn't work for me as I loved it! :(
